To improve system performance, we apply the concept of membership function to Variance Considered Machines (VCMs) which is a modified algorithm of Support Vector Machines (SVMs) proposed in our previous studies. Many classification algorithms separate nonlinear data well. However, existing algorithms have ignored the fact that probabilities of error are very high in the data-mixed area. Therefore, we make our algorithm ignore data which has high error probabilities and consider data importantly which has low error probabilities to generate system output according to the probabilities of error. To get membership function, we calculate sigmoid function from the dataset by considering means and variances. After computation, this membership function is applied to the VCMs.

In this paper, we propose a new fuzzy membership function for FSVM(Fuzzy Support Vector Machines). We apply a fuzzy membership to each input point of SVM and reformulate SVM into fuzzy SVM (FSVM) such that different input points can make different contributions to the learning of decision surface. The proposed method enhances the SVM in reducing the effect of outliers and noises in data points. This paper compares classification and estimated performance of SVM, FSVM(1), and FSVM(2) model that are getting into the spotlight in time series prediction.

Support Vector machine is the classifier which is based on the statistical training theory. Twin Support Vector Machine(TWSVM) is a kind of binary classifier that determines two nonparallel planes by solving two related SVM-type problems. The training time of TWSVM is shorter than that of SVM, but TWSVM doesn't shows worse performance than that of SVM. This paper proposes the TWSVM which is applied fuzzy membership, and compares the performance of this classifier with the other classifiers using Ionosphere radar data set.

This paper propose the Fuzzy AHP(Analytic Hierarchical Process)-based negotiation support (FAHP-NEGO) mechanism to support the dynamic negotiation process in Electronic Commerce(EC). Negotiation is a form of decision-making with two or more actively involved agents who can not make decisions independently, and therefore must make concessions to achieve a compromise. Having concerned that point, the theoretical framework of FAHP-NEGO mechanism is presented by means of fuzzy membership functions and AHP. This mechanism encompasses both qualitative and quantitative conditions, and the use of multiple negotiation procedures for solving the electronic negotiation problem, adjusting the fuzzy membership function, and restructuring the problem representation. A hypothetical example of a healthcare products purchase is given to illustrate the quality of the proposed mechanism. The results showed that the Fuzzy AHP-based negotiation support mechanism could reflect both qualitative and quantitative conditions in EC. The implications of the study for future directions of research on electronic negotiation support modeling and systems are presented.

This study is a concept analysis of membership, using the evolutionary concept analysis method. Literatures published from January 2000 to January 2020 were searched on CINAHL, EBSCO, and websites of professional associations, using keywords including 'Member support', 'Member welfare', 'Professional association', 'Membership', and 'Member benefit.' Finally, 12 articles and 4 professional association website data were selected for analysis. The antecedents of membership comprised two dimensions, viz., the member level, and the association level. The antecedent at the member level included need of members, whereas antecedent at the association level was to set up a new department responsible for memberships. Attributes of the membership included 'member support', 'member professionalization', and 'member solidarity'. The consequences of membership also consisted of two dimensions: increased member satisfaction and professionality, and enhancement of rights and interests at the member level, and improvement of public awareness for the professional association at the association level. The findings of this study suggest that providing proper membership is a desirable direction of the association's member support considering the member's opinion ultimately, and propose future research for membership development. This study significantly provides the contextual basis, by identifying the antecedents, attributes, and consequences of membership.
In order to secure sustainable financial resources and to attract more key supporters, today's art museums are trying to further develop individual sponsorship. The purpose of this study is to explore the direction of membership programs by considering membership as the first step for the development of individual supporters for art museums. Although it is not easy to generate substantial profits within a short period through membership, art museums can secure supporters who empathize with and participate in their mission and activities by developing individual supporters through membership. The new trends of support, which has emerged as a stream of "new philanthropy" since the 1990s, indicate that the needs and motivations of individual supporters are changing. This has great implications for the direction of the development and operation of membership programs at art museums. This study investigated the role, method, and direction of the development of individual supporters through membership by conducting a theoretical review and a case study on the membership programs and individual sponsors of art museums. In addition, the study analyzed the cases of the Cleveland Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Museum of Modern Art in the United States, which have continuously attempted new approaches and improved membership programs based on a long history of membership operation and individual support, by centering on the new attributes of philanthropy, including participation and involvement, accountability, and transparency. Based on the results, implications and suggestions for Korean art museums were derived. Amid the lack of art museums' membership programs and academic research, this study has significance in exploring the direction and prerequisites for membership for the development of individual supporters.
Fuzzy logic control(FLC) is composed of three parts : fuzzy rule-bases, membership functions, and scaling factors. Well-defined fuzzy rule-base should contain proper physical intuition on the plant, so are needed lots of experiences of the skillful expert. When membership functions are considered, some parameters on the memberships function such as function shape, support, allocation density should be selected well. The rule of scaling factors is 'scaling'(amplifying or reducing) for both input and output signals of the FLC to fit in the membership function support and to operate the plant intentionally. To get a better performance of the FLC, it is necessary to adjust the parameters of the FLC. In general, the adaptation of the scaling factors is the most effective adjustment scheme, compared with that of the fuzzy rule-base or membership function parameters. This study proposes the adaptation scheme of the scaling factors. When the adaptation is performed on-line, the stability of the adaptive FLC should be guaranteed. The stable FLC system can be designed with stability analysis in the sense of Lyapunov stability. To adapt the scaling factors for the error signals, the concept of the conventional MRAC would be introduced into slightly modified form. A tracking accuracy of the control system would be enhanced by the modified shape and support of the membership function. The simulation is achieved on the pilot plant with the hydraulic steering control of a UCT(Unmanned Container Transporter) of which modeling dynamics have lots of severe uncertainties and modeling errors.

Conventional support vector machines (SVMs) find optimal hyperplanes that have maximal margins by treating all data equivalently. In the real world, however, the data within a data set may differ in degree of uncertainty or importance due to noise, inaccuracies or missing values in the data. Hence, if all data are treated as equivalent, without considering such differences, the optimal hyperplanes identified are likely to be less optimal. In this paper, to more accurately identify the optimal hyperplane in a given uncertain data set, we propose a membership-induced distance from a hyperplane using membership values, and formulate three kinds of membership-induced SVMs.

Wang and Medel proved (1991) that fuzzy systems with product inference, centroid defuzzification, and everywhere positive membership functions (in particular, Gaussians, Wang, 1992) are capable of approximating any real continuous control function on a compact set to arbitrary accuracy. Kosko (1992) proved that fuzzy systems, in which membership functions have compact support, and combination operation (V-operation) for rules is the sum, are also universal approximators. In this paper, we generalize this result of Kosko and prove that for any &- and V-operations, any defuzzification procedure, and any basic membership function with a compact support, the resulting fuzzy controls are universal approximators. Also, Wang's result is transfered to min-inference.

The diffusion of fuzzy logic techniques into real applications requires specific software supports which save development time and reduce the programming effort. But we has been lack of a tool devoted to support the design of fuzzy controllers. In this paper, on the basis of the general fuzzy set and .alpha.-cut set decomposition of fuzzy sets, a set of fuzzy reasoning tool(FRT) devoted to support the design of fuzzy dontroller for servo systems is developed. The major features of this tool are: 1) It supports users to analyze fuzzy ingerence status based on input deta and expected results by three-D graphic display. 2) It supports users to prepare input data and expected result. 3) It supports users to tuned scaling factor of membership functions, rules and fuzzy inference. The paper shows how the suggested design tools are suitable to give a consistent answer to the tuning of fuzzy control system. This FRT is expected to exert good performance and devoted to support which the design of fuzzy controller is illustrated in the servo systems.
