Age estimations by forensic odontology play a great role in personal identification. The purpose of this study was to analyze the characteristics of age estimation cases in Korea. Surveying clients who requested age estimation at the Department of Oral Medicine, Kyungpook National University Dental Hospital from March 2012 to March 2013. The results were as follows: 1. On gender distribution, females(57.14%) were more than males(42.86%). The elderly with 50's and over 60's were majorities(89.28%) of clients, and no clients were below 40's. Most of clients were equal to and lower than elementary school graduate(69.64%). 2. The most frequent reason for age discrepancy between registered age and alleged age was mistakes by family or relatives(80.36%). The purposes of age estimation were welfare(62.50%), social relationship problem(12.50%), to find right age(10.71%), and occupation(8.93%). 3. In order of route to visit at Department of Oral Medicine, they were via government office(48.21%), acquaintances(21.43%), mass media(14.29%), and clinic(10.71%). Clients had high degree of comprehension on age estimation with forensic odontology (scored 7.03 out of 10). The 2/3 of clients were satisfied with present fee for age estimation. 4. The percentage on the proximity of estimated age to alleged age was 69.81%. 4(11.43%) clients were approved on age correction by court.
The purpose of this study is to develop human resources and management system model for home-based welfare services. For the purpose of the study, both of method of literature review about home-based welfare services and previous research and survey were used in the study. The subjects of the survey were Junior and senior high school students, the employed, housewives, the disabled, and the aged. They were considered as human resources for the home-based welfare services. Based on the result of the survey and related theories, the study suggests the model for the development of volunteers and management system composed of recruitment, education and training, disposition, management and supervision, and evaluation for home-based welfare services. The development of information and communication technology (ICT) provides many opportunities for businesses to increase productivity, to have better relationships with customers and suppliers, and to develop new products more efficiently and effectively. However, recently, there have been claims that ICT development in a country would increase income inequality of the country. In this debate, we examine the impact of ICT development on the income inequality at the country level. Data of 28 OECD countries were used for our study. According to results of the analysis, a country with a higher level of ICT development is likely to have a lower the level of income inequality. There have been many concerns that development of ICTs may result in a higher level of income inequality mainly because wealthy companies or individuals can more affordable to utilize advanced ICT and ICTs have replaced labor. However, there has been no such identified impact, at least in recent OECD countries. Rather, we can expect ICT development to play a role in lowering income inequality of a country.
This paper is based on the perspective that the YTN Science, a science channel in Korea which plays a key role in the popularization of science, is suffering from low viewing ratings, insufficient content, and shortage of production. First, this study employs an exploratory method to identify current status of programming and operation of the Korean science channel along with its promotional strategy. Second, it aims to conduct an analysis on the science channels, specifically some major programs, of other nations including the U.S. (Discovery Channel, National Geographic Channel), United Kingdom (BBC Knowledge), Japan (Science Channel), and China (CCTV 10), seeking the possibility to apply and combine them afterward to the Korean TV channels specialized in science. A number of implications are derived from our diagnosis of present situation and analysis of abroad cases, and this helps us suggest the content development and promotional strategies as follows: First, due to the rising need for change in the programming strategy to enhance the value of the content, it is required to rearrange the programming in terms of the target audience and the viewer lifestyle, adopt a new strategy for building up the viewers' watching habit through 'stripping', and place strategic programs in prime-time. Second, as for the specific schemes of content production and application, it is recommended to establish a dual strategy in creating the content (one for conveying knowledge, the other for delivering fun), plan and use a representative character of the program, select scientific and technological topics with more Korean backgrounds, attempt strategic ties with SNS, deepen and diversify the material for programs, and implement a strategy to boost the OSMU. Finally, with regard to the promotional strategy, a constructive proposal may include raising channel awareness through science-related events and live broadcasting, performing promotional strategies by way of expanding to printed media like magazine and book publications, and intensifying online and mobile promotional strategy.
Outer membrane proteins (OMPs) expressed in the Gram negative bacteria such as Salmonella play multiple functions including material transports, adhesive factors and reception of external signals. This study has been focused on an OmpW protein known as a protein required to form a hydrophobic porin in outer membrane. We have constructed a S. typhimurium CK10 mutant deleting an ompW gene on chromosome. The CK10 strain was more tolerant to SDS than the wild-type strain did. As increase of salt concentration in the culture media, significantly decreased amount of OmpW protein in cells were detected. The maximum OmpW protein was expressed in the absence of salt supplement. However, the growth of CK10 strain was indistinguishable compared to that of the wild-type strain at the variable osmotic conditions. The biological role of differential OmpW expression in response to osmotic conditions remains to be investigated.
This paper presents a study on the effects of silica coating in the production of ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ powders suitable for magnetic recording media. Emphasis has been put on investigating the relationship between the powder characteristics and the effects of silica coating in the heat-treatment stage of ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ production. After we prepared non-coated ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ and silica coated ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ with coating water glass on the surface of goethite and heattreatment process, we compared and investigated powder characteristics. As silica coated layer played a role of preventing the powders from overreduction to metal iron and rapid oxidation, silica coated ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ showed superior magnetization value due to inhibiting t!1e adulteration of ${\alpha}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ into the final product. When silica coated layer acted as a sintering restrainer, silica coated ${\gamma}-Fe_{2}O_{3}$ showed high coercivity and specific sur-face area due to good acicularity.
The purpose of this study is to verify the effect on the creativity and Usability of young Children by applying design education pro young Children gramfor using 3D printer to the kindergarten field and, through the results, to prepare a realistic way to increase the utilization of 3D printer media in infant classrooms. Thin films play an important role in many technological applications including microelectronic devices, magnetic storage media, MEMS and surface coatings. It is well known that a thin film's material properties can be very different from the corresponding bulk properties and thus there has been a strong need for the development of a reliable test method to measure the mechanical properties of a thin film. We have developed an alternative and convenient test method to overcome the limitations of previous membrane deflection experiment and uniaxial tensile test by adopting a white light interferometer having sub-nanometer out-of-plane displacement resolution. The freestanding aluminium specimens are tested to verity the effectiveness of the test method developed and get the tensile properties. The specimens are 0.5 rum wide, $1{\mu}m$ thick and fabricated through MEMS processes including sputtering. 1 to 5 specimens are fabricated on Si dies. The membrane deflection experiments are carried out by using a homemade tester consisted of a motor-driven loading tip, a load cell, and 6 DOF alignment stages. The test system is compact enough to set it up beneath a commercial white light interferometric microscope. The white light fringes are utilized to align a specimen with the tester. The Young's modulus and yield point stress of the aluminium film are 62 GPa and 247 MPa, respectively.
The present study was undertaken to examine the effects of obioactin, lonomycin A, and MDP on toxoplasmacidal activities in glycogen-induced mouse peritoneal macrophages. The killing effect of obioactin on Toxoplasma multiplication was increased significantly in proportion to its concentrations. $O_2{^-}$ generation in obioactin-treated macrophages was also increased from twofold to threefold when compared with that of untreated control. Similarly, $H_2O_2$ continued to rise in parallel with increase of the concentration of obioactin. Lonomycin A-treated macrophages also exhibited a good effect of dose-response on toxoplasmacidal activities. However, $O_2{^-}$ and $H_2O_2$ were not generated significantly in lonomycin A-treated macrophages. Macrophages treated with muramyl dipeptide (MDP) were not found to inhibit the prolifi:ration of Toxoplasma but showed the enhancement of $O_2{^-}$ and $H_2O_2$, generation. The released lysozyme levels from macrophages into cultured media were decreased tn dose-dependent fashion by in vitro treatment of obioactin, lonomycin A, and MDP. The intracellular lysozyme levels appeared to be a constant value regardless of increasing the concentrations of obioactin, lonomycin A, and MDP. Therefore, these results suggest that Toxoplasma multiplication within macrophages treated with obioactin was inhibited by the generation of $O_2{^-}$ and $H_2O_2$ and that lysozyme per se within or released from macrophages had no effect on toxoplasmacidal activity.

Understanding of microbial community structure in soil-root system is necessary to use beneficial soil and rhizosphere microbes for improvement of crop production and biocontrol. The knowledge of behavior and function of microbes in soil-root system plays a key role for the application of beneficial inocula. Because the majority of the intact bacteria in soil are unable to grow on nutrient media, both culturable and nonculturable bacteria have to be studied together. In our study, culture-independent survey of bacterial community in the soil-root system of red pepper fields was conducted by the sequence analysis of three universal clone libraries of genes which code for small-subunit rRNA (rDNA). Universal small subunit rRNA primers were used to amplify DNA extracted from each sample and PCR products were cloned into pGEM-T. Out of 27 clones sequenced, 25 clones were from domain bacteria. Two of the rDNA sequences were derived from eukaryotic organelles. Within the domain bacteria, several kingdoms were represented : the Proteobacteria (16 clones). Cytophyga-Flexibacter-Bacteroides group (2 clones). the high G+C content gram-positive group(1 clone) and 4 unknown clones.
