미국의 DAB 시스템 개발현황

  • 본 논문에서는 지상망 디지털 오디오방송(DAB) 시스템의 출현 배경과 미국 내에서 DAB 시스템의 개발과 성능시험 평가를 위한 NAB, NRSC, EIA, FCC, NASA, Lewis 연구소, 카나다 CRC의 활동상을 소개한다. 구체적으로는 미국에서 개발 중에 있는 USA Digital Radio사, Amati Communications사와 Kintel Technologies사의 FM In-Band On-Channel(IBOC)방식, AT&T사의 FM In-Band Adjacent-Channel(IBAC)방식과 USA Digital Radio사의 AM IBOC 방식의 원리와 특성, 핵심기술, 개발현황, 성능시험 결과와 각 방식의 장단점을 비교 분석하며 또한 미국의 In-Band 방식과 유럽의 Eureka 147 New-Band 방식을 비교 분석한다.

Parallel Writing and Detection for Two Dimensional Magnetic Recording Channel

  • Two-dimensional magnetic recording (TDMR) is treated as the next generation magnetic recording method, but because of its high channel bit error rate, it is difficult to use in practices. In this paper, we introduce a new writing method that can decrease the nonlinear media error effectively, and it can also achieve 10 Tb/$in^2$ of user bit density on a magnetic recording medium with 20 Teragrains/$in^2$.

A Study on Methods for Activating Libraries' YouTube Channel (도서관 유튜브(YouTube) 채널의 활성화 방안에 관한 연구)

  • The social media paradigm centered on videos continues to deepen due to the diversification of 5G devices, high-definition and immersive SNS. The purpose of this study is to propose various utilization strategies and measures through the analysis of the current status of YouTube channel operation and provided contents operated in public libraries. In this study, 44 libraries in Korea that have opened and operated Library YouTube Channel and 12 libraries that actively utilize library YouTube channels with more than 1,000 subscribers were surveyed for the current status of subscribers, views, video count data, and contents and delivery methods of Library YouTube Channel. Based on the analysis results, the library's YouTube channel was proposed to utilize the library's YouTube channel, 1) to secure the specificity and purpose of the library's YouTube channel, 2) to promote and enhance access to the YouTube channel, 3) to improve the YouTube channel to user-friendly interface, 5) to plan and provide library expertise and educational contents, 6) to operate the integrated YouTube channel, and 7) to provide user-based content.

16-QAM OFDM-Based K-Band LoS MIMO Communication System with Alignment Mismatch Compensation

  • This paper presents a novel K-band (18 GHz) 16-quadrature amplitude modulation (16-QAM) orthogonal frequency-division multiplexing (OFDM)-based $2{\times}2$ line-of-sight multi-input multi-output communication system. The system can deliver 356 Mbps on a 56 MHz channel. Alignment mismatches, such as amplitude and/or phase mismatches, between the transmitter and receiver antennas were examined through hardware experiments. Hardware experimental results revealed that amplitude mismatch is related to antenna size, antenna beam width, and link distance. The proposed system employs an alignment mismatch compensation method. The open-loop architecture of the proposed compensation method is simple and enables facile construction of communication systems. In a digital modem, 16-QAM OFDM with a 512-point fast Fourier transform and (255, 239) Reed-Solomon forward error correction codecs is used. Experimental results show that a bit error rate of $10^{-5}$ is achieved at a signal-to-noise ratio of approximately 18.0 dB.

  • With the opening of digital broadcast services and development of wire/wireless Internet, the current multimedia broadcasting is provided for has various services. The user will be provided lots of various content through the various channel and media. Content provider and consumer want the various service using content with the better quality which is fit to user preference. For transmitting this content in the limited transmission channel capacity, it needs to transmit the highly compressed content which user wants. The content of 3D mesh model-based on MPEG-4 enables the various content service that provides the lower capacity and the better quality, and Targeting service enables just provide the contents that user more wants and likes. The adaption of Java application program and 3D program can provide the content service utilizing 3D mesh model, so content provider and consumer can share the more information about the content. Millimeter-wave diffraction-loss model based on over-rooftop propagation measurements

  • Measuring the diffraction loss for high frequencies, long distances, and large diffraction angles is difficult because of the high path loss. Securing a well-controlled environment to avoid reflected waves also makes long-range diffraction measurements challenging. Thus, the prediction of diffraction loss at millimeter-wave frequency bands relies on theoretical models, such as the knife-edge diffraction (KED) and geometrical theory of diffraction (GTD) models; however, these models produce different diffraction losses even under the same environment. Our observations revealed that the KED model underestimated the diffraction loss in a large Fresnel-Kirchhoff diffraction parameter environment. We collected power-delay profiles when millimeter waves propagated over a building rooftop at millimeter-wave frequency bands and calculated the diffraction losses from the measurements while eliminating the multipath effects. Comparisons between the measurements and the KED and GTD diffraction-loss models are shown. Based on the measurements, an approximation model is also proposed that provides a simple method for calculating the diffraction loss using geometrical parameters.

  • In this paper, we propose the method which provides efficient sub-channel allocation for handoff and new call supporting multi-media service in AMC-based OFDMA system. Firstly, we apply the multi-band method which provides different AMC method according to the location of user terminals. Also, in OFDMA system environment that a base station has a lot of sub-channels, we adopt the sub-channel allocation scheme that provides a higher priority to handoff call and real-time service about handoff and new calls with multi-meida service. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme plays a role in increasing the number of new and handoff calls meeting the required blocking rate.

  • In accordance with the digital broadcast data converted, the number of the service provider, and content channel for interaction with the viewer has increased exponentially. Electronic program guide in such a multi-channel time(Electronic Program Guide, EPG) is an essential requirement, and also from day to day EPG generation technique according to the user's requirements. But the current situation is getting EPG to viewers outside for reasons such as absence, lack of accurate information, organizing techniques utilized lack of standard systems. In this article, we describe the State and EPG solution to the problem of these terrestrial stations. This, the EPG information and the actual broadcast time of the terrestrial channel 6 using a ground wave receiving method for a direct comparison was studied the problems and the average error of the current start. Also this research perform to enhance accuracy of EPG information.

  • Turbo-coded CDMA system is analyzed and simulated in an indoor wireless infrared channel. The indoor infrared channel is modeled as a non-directed diffuse link. From the simulation results, it is confirmed that the turbo coding is very effective in improving BER (bit error rate) performance, and outperforms BCH code.

  • A multi-channel network(MCN) is an organization that works with video platforms, such as YouTube, to offer assistance to channel owners in areas such as "products, programming, funding, cross-promotion, partner management, digital rights management, monetization/sales, and/or audience development" in exchange for a percentage of the ad revenue from the channel. This paper examines the market trends, business trends, and future evolution of an MCN. It also examines the status of the MCN industry in the media industry and the strategic direction for future industry development.
