  • In this paper, we proposed a method for extracting predominant melody of polyphonic music based on harmonic structure. Harmonic structure is an important feature parameter of monophonic signal that has spectral peaks at the integer multiples of its fundamental frequency. We extract all fundamental frequency candidates contained in the polyphonic signal by verifying the required condition of harmonic structure. Then, we combine those harmonic peaks corresponding to each extracted fundamental frequency and assign a rank to each after calculating its harmonic average energy. We run pitch tracking based on the rank of extracted fundamental frequency and continuity of fundamental frequency, and determine the predominant melody. For the query by singing/humming (QbSH) task, we proposed Dynamic Time Warping (DTW) based matching engine. Our system reduces false alarm by combining the distances of multiple DTW processes. To improve the performance, we introduced the asymmetric sense, pitch level compensation, and distance intransitiveness to DTW algorithm.

  • In this paper, we propose a 360 content pilot service platform of cultural assets based on MPEG-V standard realistic media testbed. MPEG-V is that the standard format of sensory effect metadata(SEM) such like wind, light and flash, and communication protocol between sensory effect machines are defined, and it is possible to increase the sense of presence and immersion with 360 VR content. The proposed platform consists of software which is composed of the content player and the sensory effect reappearance server, and hardware which is the sensory effect machines. Also, the pilot service case using the proposed platform, and the features and advantages of the proposed platform are described.

  • In traditional studies on North Korea, conservative media in South Korea generally report and have an attitude toward anti-North Korea. It is a similar context as South Korea's conservatives view the U.S. and Japan more closely and positively than North Korea. This study is about how the reporting frames and information sources on North Korean science and technology in South Korea's conservative and progressive media differ and show trends. As a result of analyzing the reporting frame on North Korean science and technology by conservative and progressive media, progressive media showed similar trends or slightly positive responses to North Korean science and technology. But the reanalyzed result after dividing it into conservative and progressive governments, the opposite result came out. In the conservative government, the progressive media dealt with very positive aspects of North Korea's science and technology, and in the progressive government, there was a clear tendency to report negative rather than positive. What can be inferred from this is that the progressive media of South Korea had at least quite different directions of the progressive government in dealing with North Korean science and technology, but rather close to anti-North Korea. It is difficult to reach a hasty conclusion because this study has not dealt with all the press and only 10 years after the Kim Jong-Un regime. Nevertheless, this study may provide implications in that it is the first study to analyze how South Korean conservative and progressive media frame North Korean science and technology.

  • Objectives : This study was designed to review and analyze domestic research trends of Korean medicine treatment on otitis media, and present data for further research and treatment of otitis media. Methods : Two researchers used six search engines to search for papers on Korean medicine treatment for otitis media published from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2023. A total of 16 papers were searched, and bibliographic information, main and accompanying symptoms, treatment period, treatment method, evaluation scale, and treatment results of each study were analyzed. Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network was used to evaluate the evidence level. Results : The most common otitis media symptom was hearing loss (12 times). The most frequently mentioned herbs were Ledebouriella seseloides (22 times) and Angelica gigas (20 times), which are the ingredients of the most commonly used prescriptions, Hyunggyeyungyo-tang (5 times), Takrisodok-yeum (4 times), and Bojungikgi-tang (3 times). All the clinical trial papers were conducted on Kamihyunggyeyungyo-tang, which showed improvement in otitis media-related indicators. The most frequently mentioned meridians were the Triple Energizer (44 times), Clinical trials were conducted on the Triple Energizer, the Gall Bladder, and the Small Intestines meridians. The most frequently used acupoints were SI19 (10 times), TE21 (9 times), TE17 (9 times). In clinical trials, acupuncture treatment with TE05, GB15, TE06, SI05, GB38, and KI02 showed a significant improvement in otitis media symptoms. Conclusions : It is believed that more efficient otitis media treatment and follow-up research can be performed by using the above-mentioned research results.

  • A telephone survey was conducted in a metropolitan city in 2012 to examine people's credibility ratings of different media outlets, in particular, Weibo - one of the most popular social media platforms in China. Our findings suggest: First, people place more trust in traditional news media than in online sources by a significant margin. Second, demographic influences on media trust seem to be minimal. Only age and gender were related to some credibility measures. Third, Weibo use was not related to one's credibility perception toward traditional media but interestingly, Weibo use showed different impacts on people's evaluation of Weibo's credibility. Commenting frequency was negatively related to one's trust in Weibo, while retweeting frequency was positively related to one's trust in Weibo.

  • This study attempts to give a review of social media users' choice of a particular name for the sake of signaling identity cues and interaction with the others. The social media names could be classified into different categories such as traditional/cultural anthroponyms, nicknames and fictitious IDs etc. Out of these categories, it is the phenomenon of choice and construction of fictitious social media IDs by Pakistani social media users which has been reviewed and scrutinized in this particular article. This study examined fictitious IDs of Pakistani social media users from Critical Discourse Analysis and System Functional Linguistics perspectives and demonstrates how nationalistic, ethnic and religious identities are negotiated, constructed, deconstructed and reconstructed by the social media users through a particular ID choice.

  • This work investigated the particle morphology change to difference in milling media in a metal based composite fabrication process using a stirred ball mill with ball behavior of DEM simulation. A simulation of the three dimensional motion of grinding media in the stirred ball mill for the research of grinding mechanism to clarify the force, kinetic energy, and medium velocity of grinding media were calculated. In addition, the rotational speed of the stirred ball mill was changed to the experimental conditions for the composite fabrication, and change of the input energy was also calculated while changing the ball material, the flow velocity, and the friction coefficient under the same conditions. As the rotating speed of the stirred ball mill increased, the impact energy between the grinding media to media, media to wall, and media and the stirrer increased quantitatively. Also, we could clearly analyze the change of the particle morphology under the same experimental conditions, and it was found that the ball behavior greatly influences in the particle morphology changes.
