  • Recently, IVS(Intelligent Vehicle Systems) or ITS(Intelligent Traffic Systems) are much concerned subjects of automotive industry. In this paper, we will introduce an Intelligent Online Driving System for a car. This system allows the driver to be able to drive the car just by operating an integrated joystick. The proposed driving system could be implemented into any car and the key point of the design is that the driver still can drive the car as normal without using the joystick. Our Intelligent Online Driving System includes the integrated joystick, steering wheel control system, brake and acceleration (B&A)pedals control system, and the central control computer system. Steering wheel and B&A pedals are controlled by AC servo-motors. The integrated joystick generates the desired positions and the embedded computer controls these two servomotors to track the commands given by joystick. The control method for two servo-motors is PID control.

  • The dissimilar welding between magnesium alloy and steel sheet was required in automobile industry to increase the strength of the dissimilar joints. Laser brazing is one of the good joining processes for Mg- steel dissimilar joint. In this study, AZ31 magnesium alloy and Zn coated steel dissimilar joint was brazed using diode direct laser with Mg600 filler wire and Superior #21 flux. The wetting of Mg filler wire on Zn coating was very good because of the formation of eutectic phase with low melting temperature. The strength of the brazed joint between AZ31 magnesium alloy and Zn coated steel was 131.3N/mm. The fracture occurred at brazement.

  • The development of more safe recliners is an important issue in the automotive industry. However, the development of new recliners is costly and take much time because it is typically based on experimental evaluation using prototypes. This study presents the evaluation of rear crashworthiness for round recliner using finite element method. That reduces the number of repeating test and gives an information about stiffness. To evaluate rear crashworthiness, the FMVSS 301 simulation and pendulum impact simulation were performed. The load path on two simulations was observed and compared each other in this paper. Also stress, strain and internal energy was compared. It is attempted the tooth strength simulation using a substructure option on PAM-CRASH.

  • Extrusion is one of the most important operations in the polymer-processing industry. Development of models for extrusion and computer tools offer a route to developing reliable and optimized process designs. The models are based on the analysis of physical phenomena encountered during the process. Balance equations for mass, momentum and energy are fundamental to the problem. A predictive computer model has been developed for the single screw extruders with conventional screws of different geometry. The model takes into account melting zones of the extruder and describes an operation of the extruder system, making it possible to predict mass flow rate of the polymer, pressure and velocity profiles along the extruder screw channel. The simulation parameters are the material and rheological properties of the polymer; the screw pitch, and screw speed.

  • According to recent changes in industry for semiconductor devices, a low-temperature treatment has become a necessity. These changes relate to size refinement and the development of new materials. While variation in cooling efficiency does not affect the yield when using a high-temperature treatment, uniform cooling efficiency is necessary avoid "inconsistencies/bends" in low temperature treatments. However it is difficult to increase temperature stabilization in low temperature treatments. In this paper, using CFD (Computer Fluid Dynamics), we analyze and manipulate the design and input of the low-temperature system to attempt to control for temperature variations within the quartz tube, of which airflow appears to be a predominant factor. This simulation includes variable inputs such as airflow rate, head pressure, and design manipulations in the S.C.U. (Super Cooling Unit).

  • Recently the government banners green growth promises as a paradigm of national development which are to reduce greenhouse gases and environmental pollution by exhaust gases from automobiles. Existing in all countries around the world by using fossil fuels to minimize environmental changes are developing a new alternative energy sources. Among the emerging alternative energy, using solar energy technology is applied across the industry, but the maintenance and repair to integrate solar cells and has been a problem occurs. To prolong the life of cells integrated on a solar cell is exposed when the non-eye, etc., when not integrated by the solar cells should not be exposed. In order to resolve these contradictions, a intellectual solar green street lighting was developed by using Q(Quick)-TRIZ.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze effects of filtering system of cutting fluid which is used for machining silicon electrode. For the research, different sizes of filter clothes are applied to check grain size of sludge of cutting fluid. Surface roughness of machined workpiece, depth of damage inside of silicon electrode, and suspended solids of cutting fluid are experimented and analyzed. From these experiments, it is verified that filtering system of cutting fluid is very important factor for machining. Results of this study can affect various benefits to the semiconductor industry for better productivity and better atmospheric pollution in workplace.

  • This paper compares the marine engineering courses of two maritime institutions: Mokpo National Maritime University of Korea in the East Asia region and Philippine Merchant Marine Academy in the Southeast Asia region. It shows examines educational marine engineering programs, along with the different divisions and courses at each college. It demonstrates a divergence in methodologies and course offerings to cultivate competitive graduates. The comparative assessment completed is intended to offer broader knowledge on how each institution tackles the requirements of the STCW, and to meet the present and future demands of the maritime industry. Different course offerings are compared along with the units and hours allocated to each subject, and the differences in marine engineering academic and training requirements to graduate. Students must satisfactorily earn 150 units to complete their choice of major. Statistical procedures were used in this assessment and analysis from Excel programs.
