RELIABILITY-BASED DESIGN OPTIMIZATION OF AUTOMOTIVE SUSPENSION SYSTEMS

  • Design variables for suspension systems cannot always be realized in the actual suspension systems due to tolerances in manufacturing and assembly processes. In order to deal with these tolerances, design variables associated with kinematic configuration and compliance characteristics of suspensions are treated as random variables. The reliability of a design target with respect to a design variable is defined as the probability that the design target is in the acceptable design range for all possible values of the design variable. To compute reliability, the limit state, which is the boundary between the acceptable and unacceptable design, is expressed mathematically by a limit state function with value greater than 0 for acceptable design, and less than 0 for unacceptable design. Through reliability analysis, the acceptable range of design variables that satisfy a reliability target is specified. Furthermore, through sensitivity analysis, a general procedure for optimization of the design target with respect to the design variables has been established.

  • Global consumption of aspheric lens will expand rapidly due to golbal transformation of the electronics based industry to optics based mechatronics. Especially, F-Theta lens is one of important parts in Laser Scanning Unit(LSU) because it affects the optical performance of LSU dominantly. Non axisymmetric machine based processing techologies are required to obtain high accuracy in utlra-precision aspheric core, the most important component in plastic injection molded F-Theta lens assembly. In this study, the core with non-axisymmetric aspheric shape which is used to emit the F-Theta lens was processed using the ultra precision processing technology and the shape accuracy of the core was measured. And the results there of were evaluated and compared with the emitted shape accuracy of F-Theta lens.

  • In this paper, we propose fuzzy-neural Networks(FNN) which is useful for identification algorithms. The proposed FNN model consists of two steps: the first step, which determines premise and consequent parameters approximately using FCM_RI method, the second step, which adjusts the premise and consequent parameters more precisely by gradient descent algorithm. The FCM_RI algorithm consists FCM clustering algorithm and Recursive least squared(RLS) method, this divides the input space more efficiently than convention methods by taking into consideration correlations between components of sample data. To evaluate the performance of the proposed FNN model, we use the time series data for gas furnace.

  • In modem industry, the accuracy and the surface-finish requirements for machined parts have been becoming ever more stringent. Optical method in measurements is playing an important role in vibration measurement, crack and defect detection and surface topography with the advent of opto-mechatronics. In this study, the principle of the general confocal microscope is introduced for surface measurement, and the advanced confocal microscope that has better measuring speed than the traditional confocal microscope is developed. A study on improving the resolution of the advanced confocal microscope is followed. Finally, Software for data acquisition and analysis of various parameters in surface geometrical features has been developed.

  • Recently, according to the development of mechatronics industry that was composed of NT, ST, IT, RT and etc, the 1 necessity of nano-parts was increased. Because of the necessity, this research was started for improving work precision of the parts as fixing UPCU( Ultra Precision Cutting Unit)on lathe. So, in this research we executed the modeling of UPCU (Ultra Precision Cutting Unit) by the application of PZT, the relationship between the displacement of tool in UPCU and the cutting force of it has been in take a triangular position in the case of plane cutting. The modeling of system that is containing the fine displacement was performed. Also, we found like to find the optimal cutting condition through the simulation of relationship between the displacement and the cutting force.

  • This article introduces recent trends in RHC (Receding Horizon Control), also known as MPC (Model Predictive Control), that has been well recognized in industry and academy as a systematic approach for optimal design and constraint management. Constrained and robust RHCs will be briefly reviewed with milestone results. Among the diverse developments and achievements of RHCs, implementation issues will be focused on, together with the latest applications. In particular, this article introduces results on how to solve a finite horizon open-loop optimal control problem in an efficient way, together with code generation for real-time execution and easy implementation. Instead of traditional applications such as refineries and petrochemical plants, this article highlights some selected emerging applications, such as energy management systems and mechatronics, that have resulted from state-of-the-art high performance computing power and advanced numerical schemes.

A Study on the Estimation of Human Damage Caused by the LP Gas Flame in Enclosure using Probit Model

  • The energetic and environmental problems have been getting serious after the revolution of modern industry. Therefore, demand of gas as an eco-friendly energy source is increasing. With the demand of gas, the use of gas is also increased, so injury and loss of life by the fire have been increasing every year. Hence the influence on flame caused by Vapor Cloud Explosion in enclosure of experimental booth was calculated by using the API regulations. And the accident damage was estimated by applying the influence on the adjacent structures and people into the PROBIT model. According to the probit analysis, the spot which is 5meter away from the flame has nearly 100% of the damage probability by the first-degree burn, 27.8% of the damage probability by the second-degree burn and 14.5% of the death probability by the fire.

  • 국내의 IT제조업체들은 자사제품 및 생산설비에 들어가는 소프트웨어 품질과 개발업무 능력에 대한 객관적인 검증 및 평가가 필요하다는 판단 하에 CMM및 SPICE의 등급인증 획득에 큰 관심을 기울이고 있으며, 특히 소프트웨어 프로젝트에 대한 정량적 평가방법을 통해 궁극적인 목표인 경영효과 창출로 이끌기 위한 노력을 경주하고 있다. 본 논문은 SPICE를 이미 꾸준히 적용하고 있는 국내 IT제조업체를 조사하여 소프트웨어 품질을 정량적으로 평가하기 위해 반드시 적용되야 하는 필수 메트릭스(Metrics)를 도출하고 이를 프로세스에 적용하는 방안을 제시하였다.

  • Semiconductor industry has been dramatically developed with the information era of 21C, and the trend now is to consider that the technology of management system of the computer utility that has a high efficiency is important. This study investigated the intelligent decision system for residual gas purge process to effectively remove the residual gas in the tube after replacing the cylinder that is used for the gas cabinet or BSGS(Bulk Specialty Gas Supply System) of the semiconductor process. It was suggest from this study that it is possible to decide the type, frequency and volume of purge gas using various toxic gases which is necessary for each process. Also, this result will be utilized for operating the system, increasing the efficiency of management and saving energy.

유도가열을 이용한 강판성형공정에서 유도코일 형상의 효과 (Effects of Inductor Shape in Steel Forming Process with High Frequency Induction Heating)

  • Because of high intensity and easy controllability of the heat source, high frequency induction heating has been concerned and studied for the steel forming process in the ship building industry. However, the heating and forming characteristics have to be further properly modelled and analyzed for the process to be utilized with its optimal working parameters. In this study, a modelling with thermo-elasto-plastic analysis is performed using the FEM to study heat flow and deformation of the steel plate during the forming process with the electro-magnetic induction heating. The numerical model is then used to study the effect of the inductor shape on the magnitude of angular deformation of the plate during the forming process. It is revealed that the square shape of inductor induces the largest deformation among the rectangular inductors.
