Measurement Error Modeling for On-Machine Measurement of Sculptured Surfaces

  • The objective of this research is to develop a measurement error model for sculptured surface in On-Machine Measurement(OMM) process based on a closed-loop configuration. The geometric error model of each axis of a vertical CNC machining center is derived using a 4$\times$4 homogeneous transformation matrix. The ideal locations of a touch-type probe for the sculptured surface measurement are calculated from the parametric surface representation and X-, Y- directional geometric errors of the machine. Also the actual coordinates of the probe are calculated by considering the pre-travel variation of a probe and Z-directional geometric errors. Then, the step-by-sep measurement error analysis method is suggested based on a closed-loop configuration of the machining center including workpiece and probe errors. The simulation study shows the simplicity and effectiveness of the proposed error modeling strategy.

A Study on the Methodology for Determining Dynamic Loadings of Automotive Suspension System Using Measurement and Modeling

  • To design suspension system and estimate its durability , the loading history of each suspension part exposed to various operation conditions should be known from either measurement or computations. Based on these results, stress analysis is carried out to obtain the optimal shape and to reduce the production cost through the proper selection of manufacturing process. In this paper, first the measurement of 3-directional accelerations of wheel center using an accelerometer are undertaken from a vehicle running on Belgian road. Then the data measured from experiments are pre-processed with filtering . Based on the pre-processed data the methodology for determining the dynamic loading to each suspension part is developed by simply modeling the suspension system with ADAMS software. Eventually , it is expected that dynamic loadings can be used for the dynamic stress and fatigue analyses.

평활화 된 의사거리 및 전리층 지연 추정을 위한 GPS 측정치 잡음 모델링 (Modeling of GPS measurement noise for estimating smoothed pseudorange and ionospheric delay)

  • GPS 신호의 주요 오차 요인 중 전리층 지연 오차는 신호 주파수에 따라 지연량이 달라지는 특성을 가진다. 이중 주파수 사용자는 L1, L2 주파수의 의사거리 측정치의 차이 값을 이용하여 보정하게 되는데, 이렇게 추정된 전리층 지연 추정치에는 의사거리 잡음에 의한 오차가 포함되게 되므로 일반적으로 필터를 통해 의사거리 측정치를 평활화 시킨 후 전리층 지연을 계산하게 된다. Weighted hatch filter는 측정치의 잡음 수준을 고려하여 최적의 평활화 된 의사거리 측정치를 계산해 낼 수 있으나, 이를 이용하기 위해서는 측정치 잡음에 대한 모델링이 필요하다. 본 논문에서는 NDGPS 기준국들에 대하여 측정치 잡음 모델링을 수행하였다. 그리고 모델링 결과를 바탕으로 weighted hatch filter를 구성하여 평활화 된 의사거리 측정치 및 전리층 지연을 추정한 결과 필터를 적용하지 않은 것에 비하여 전리층 지연 오차의 표준편차가 1/25 가량으로 줄어드는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The database design for the management of bridge measurement information is presented in this paper. To express the associated data generated during the whole process of ambient measurement efficiently, requirements analysis for database construction is performed. And to define objects and organize schema conceptual and logical design are performed, which convert data model into logical schema. Finally, physical design is performed using DDL(data defined language). This database is based on the object-relational data modeling approach that has rich expressive power and good reusability in comparison with the traditional entity-relational modeling.

철근부식 표면측정법 모델링을 통한 콘크리트 내 철근 탐사 (Steel Probing in Concrete Using Steel Corrosion Surface Measurement Method Modeling)

  • 콘크리트 표면에 4개의 전극배열을 이용한 비파괴 표면측정법을 통하여 철근의 피복을 벗겨내지 않고도 콘크리트 내 철근의 부식상태 및 철근의 배치상태를 추정할 수 있다. 표면측정법 모델링은 부식된 철근과 주위 콘크리트사이의 계면 임피던스가 콘크리트 표면에서 측정된 임피던스와 어떤 관련이 있는지를 보여준다. 본 연구에서는 콘크리트에 매립된 철근 크기와 콘크리트 피복두께 등의 탐지를 위하여 철근부식 표면측정 모델링을 이용하였다. 모델링 결과 철근 크기가 D10에서 D35로 커짐에 따라 표면임피던스 변화가 나타났으며, 또한 콘크리트 피복두께가 0.02 m에서 0.1 m로 커짐에 따라 그 변화에 대한 영향이 표면측정 임피던스를 통해 나타났다. 그러므로 표면측정법 모델링을 통하여 콘크리트 내 철근부식반응을 시뮬레이션 할 수 있으며, 동시에 철근직경과 매입 깊이 등에 대한 정보도 얻을 수 있음 알 수 있다.

  • The linear motor available for linear transition motion, because of its advantages, the motor design and its application have gradually increased, but the quantitative measurement system of thrust force has not been generalized. So, this paper proposes the modeling, computation method, and measurement system of linear thrust force in HB-type linear pulse motor. As the computation method of thrust force in linear motor is presented and the measurement system is designed, and manufactured, it would be verified that reliability of measurement method and measurement system, considering on and comparing the results of mathematical modeling with measured values of static thrust force and dynamic one.

Evaluation on bridge dynamic properties and VIV performance based on wind tunnel test and field measurement

  • Full scale measurement on the structural dynamic characteristics and Vortex-induced Vibrations (VIV) of a long-span suspension bridge with a central span of 1650 m were conducted. Different Finite Element (FE) modeling principles for the separated twin-box girder were compared and evaluated with the field vibration test results, and the double-spine model was determined to be the best simulation model, but certain modification still needs to be made which will affect the basic modeling parameters and the dynamic response prediction values of corresponding wind tunnel tests. Based on the FE modal analysis results, small-scaled and large-scaled sectional model tests were both carried out to investigate the VIV responses, and probable Reynolds Number effects or scale effect on VIV responses were presented. Based on the observed VIV modes in the field measurement, the VIV results obtained from sectional model tests were converted into those of the three-dimensional (3D) full-scale bridge and subsequently compared with field measurement results. It is indicated that the large-scaled sectional model test can probably provide a reasonable and effective prediction on VIV response.

  • The demands of complicated data communications have issued a new challenge to port logistics systems. Customers expect ports to handle their generated administrative data while a vessel is docked in a port. One port logistics system, known as the Vessel Clearance Process (VCP), manages large numbers of documents related to port of entry. In the VCP, information flows through many organizations such as the port authority, shipping agents, marine offices, immigration offices, and others. Therefore, for effective management of the Business Process (BP) of the VCP, a standardized method of BP modeling is essential, especially in heterogeneous system environments. In a port, according to port policy, terms and data are sued that are similar to but different from those of other logistics partners, which hinders standardized modeling of the BP. In order to avoid tedious and time-consuming document customization work, more convenient modeling of BP for VCP is essential. This paper proposes an ontology-based process similarity measurement to assist designer for process modeling in port domain, especially VCP. We expect that this methodology will use convenient and quick modeling of port business processes.

Three Reasons We May Shun the Research Practice That Employs Formative Measurement in the Endogenous Position

  • When the formative construct is placed in the endogenous position, there are clear theoretical, mathematical, and empirical issues in model estimation. Nonetheless, scholars who have adopted structural equation modeling for empirical research and those who are engaged in debates on the viability of formative modeling fail to recognize the fundamental problems of employing formative measurement in the endogenous position. This manuscript is intended to set a corrective path by discussing three reasons why this frequented practice may be avoided in both theoretical and empirical research.

Analysis, Modeling and Compensation of Dynamic Imbalance Error for a Magnetically Suspended Sensitive Gyroscope

  • Magnetically suspended sensitive gyroscopes (MSSGs) provide an interesting alternative for achieving precious attitude angular measurement. To effectively reduce the measurement error caused by dynamic imbalance, this paper proposes a novel compensation method based on analysis and modeling of the error for a MSSG. Firstly, the angular velocity measurement principle of the MSSG is described. Then the analytical model of dynamic imbalance error has been established by solving the complex coefficient differential dynamic equations of the rotor. The generation mechanism and changing regularity of the dynamic imbalance error have been revealed. Next, a compensation method is designed to compensate the dynamic imbalance error and improve the measurement accuracy of the MSSG. The common issues caused by dynamic imbalance can be effectively resolved by the proposed method in gyroscopes with a levitating rotor. Comparative simulation results before and after compensation have verified the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed compensation method.
