The aim of this study was to investigate the effectiveness of self-stretching exercises for iliotibial band (ITB) (Side-lying; right hip and knee were flexed to support the pelvis while left hip was extended and adducted, Standing A; side-bending of the trunk on standing with crossed leg, Standing B; same as Standing A, except the hands were clasped overhead and shifted right side, and Standing C; same as Standing B, except moving the arms diagonally downward) to help determine the most effective self-stretching method to stretch ITB. Twenty-one healthy subjects who do not have ITB shortness from Yonsei University (14 men and 7 women) between the ages of 18 to 28 years voluntarily participated. Ultrasound was performed to measure the thickness of the ITB between the long axis of the ITB and the level parallel to the lateral femoral epicondyle during four self-stretching exercises. All data were found to approximate a normal distribution. We used a one-way repeated-measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) to compare the thickness of the ITB among all self-stretching exercises. The level of significance was set at ${\alpha}$=.05. The ANOVA was followed by Bonferroni's correction. The overall mean of ITB thickness was $1.14{\pm}.4$ mm (${\pm}$ standard deviation) in resting status. The change in the ITB thickness in percentages between the tested position of each self-stretching exercises and resting status was significant (p<.05) (Side-lying $26.62{\pm}10.18%$ with 95% confidence interval [CI]=21.99~31.25%; Standing A $29.46{\pm}16.19%$ with 95% CI=22.09~36.84%; Standing B $44.06{\pm}14.82%$ with 95% CI=37.31~50.81%; Standing C $53.76{\pm}12.1%$ with 95% CI=48.25~59.29%). Results indicated significant differences among four self-stretching exercises except Side-lying versus Standing A (p<.01). Based on these findings, the Standing C self-stretching exercise was the most effective in stretching the ITB thickness among four types of ITB self-stretching exercises. Additionally, the Side-lying self-stretching exercise using gravity to stretch the ITB is recommended as a low-load (low-intensity), long-duration stretch.

In this paper, we propose a method to decide the additional edges in order to integrate two communitites A,B($${\mid}A{\mid}{\geq_-}{\mid}B{\mid}$$, ${\mid}{\cdot}{\mid}$ is the size of the set). The proposed algorithm uses a fitness function that shows the property of a community and the fitness function is defined by the number of edges which exist in the community and connect two nodes, one is in the community and the other is out of the community. The community has a strong property when the function has a large value. The proposed algorithm is a kind of greedy method and when a node of B is merged to A, the minimum number of additional edges is decided to increase the fitness function value of A. After determining the number of additional edges, we define the community connectivity measures using the node centrality to determine the edges locations. The connections of the new edges are fixed to maximize the connectivity measure of the combined community. The procedure is applied for all nodes in B to integrate A and B. The effectiveness of the proposed algorithm is shown by solving the Zachary Karate Club network.
The informativeness of accounting earnings to investors may be used as a measure of the quality of accounting information. The ownership structure is considered to be related to both of two variables, the reliability of earnings reflecting the economic performance of the enterprise and the existence of alternative information sources. Earnings manipulation may mitigate the correlation between accounting earnings and the economic performance and alternative information sources decrease the value of accounting earnings as an information. Thus ownership structure could influence the informativeness of accounting earnings. This paper classifies ownership into three categories, management or inside ownership, institutional investors and large outside blockholders, and diffuse outside ownership and examines theoretically the difference of information effectiveness under each ownership structure. The earnings manipulation hypothesis supports the assertion that the separation of ownership from control motivates earnings manipulation. And differential information hypothesis suggests that more non-accounting information of firms with institutional or concentrated outside ownership is provided. Outside blockholders have alternative information sources that make accounting manipulation ineffective. While most previous studies have examined the effect of ownership on the informativeness of earnings from earnings manipulation hypothesis, this study is motivated by both earnings manipulation hypothesis and differential information hypothesis.
The purpose of this study is to provide the criteria for implementing unprotected left turn at intersections with variation of traffic volume on a cross road approach. Using Transyt-7F model, the delays calculated from permissive and protected left turn signal system were compared by gradually increasing the left turn volume for a certain opposing through volume up to the volume limits to which permissive left turn is more effective, Average stopped delay of the intersection was used as the measure of effectiveness in this study. The major conclusions are (1) the lighter the traffic gets in a cross road, the more the allowable left turn volume increases. The allowable left turn volume when the ratio of cross traffic to the concerned approach traffic is 0.6 appears about 50% more than the volume when the ratio is 1.0. (2) Comparing to the criteria of the manual of traffic safety facility, the results when the traffic ratio is 0.6 seem to be most similar the criteria of manual and the results when the traffic ratio are 0.8 and 1.0 appears to be lower than the criteria of manual. (3) The possible amount of making a left turn that is inversely proportional to the opposing through traffic, decreases as the number of opposing through lanes increases. The products of volume need to be used as the criteria of permissive left turn with considerable cautions because of its low consistency.

This study derived the design aspects by carrying out the case study of Neunggok prehistoric remains park, Ansansingil historic park and Yongjuk historic park to which are taken measures to preserve undesignated cultural heritages after studying the related laws & regulations and the systems as the design conditions of historic park preserving buried cultural heritages. The results of the study are as follows. First, according to the laws & regulations related to the historical parks, the historic sites should be preserved and utilized at the same time and can have history-related facility spaces, squares, rest spaces, exercise spaces, education & culture space, and convenience spaces. Second, by the space organization and the circulation system emphasizing only the preservation of buried cultural heritages, the feature-preservation space and the functional space are separated and due to not accepting the usage behavior considering peripheral land use, the effectiveness of the historical park was low. Third, the passive feature-preservation methods such as the preservation of the exposed site in architectural methods, the reproduction of the dugout hut, and the planting Royal azaleas or displaying stone after covering up the location of the pit dwellings with soil and the usage mainly for viewing have weakened the identity of the historical park. Fourth, the fence preventing users' access interferes experiencing the features, and the vertical structure protecting the upper part of the exposed features has overwhelmed the landscape of the historical parks. Fifth, it was difficult to figure out the feature space only by the texts mainly on terminologies and the excavation photographs presented on the information signs which introduce the buried cultural heritages.

This study considered regional differences in the university-industry collaboration of Korean universities and performed cluster analysis to identify the spatial range with high university-industry collaboration connectivity. By university establishment type, it was found that the university-industry collaboration capacity of the major national university was superior overall, especially in the technology transfer & commercialization sector and the infrastructure sector, compared to private universities and general national universities. The spatial pattern of university-industry collaboration capacity showed relatively clear differences by city and province. In terms of university-industry collaboration capacity by sector, it was confirmed that the regional gap was not large in the talent training sector and the infrastructure sector, but the regional gap was relatively large in the technology transfer & commercialization sector and the start-up sector. As a result of the cluster analysis to identify a spatial range with high connectivity in terms of similarity and spatial proximity of university-industry collaboration patterns, it is divided into 15 clusters. It is found that most of major national universities are included in one of 15 clusters where all sectors of university-industry collaboration are strong. Therefore, as a policy measure to achieve regional innovative growth through enhancing the effectiveness of university-industry collaboration, we propose the establishment of a hub & spoke network-type collaboration system in which a major national university acts as a hub and nearby local universities play a spoke role.

As software transforms the structure of industry, it becomes a key measure in determining market competitiveness. Therefore, various educational efforts have been attempted in Korea to cultivate software professionals to secure software competitiveness. While previous studies had focused mainly on the cognitive effectiveness of software education, the authors tried to focus on affective perspectives. The authors, therefore, aimed to analyze the predictive power of the recognition of software importance and learning flow on affective outcomes, such as efficacy of computational thinking skills, and attitude toward, and satisfaction with, software education. The data were collected from 103 sixth grade students who participated in a software education. Results show that software importance and learning flow had significant predictive power on affective outcomes; Learning flow mediated the relationship between software importance and affective outcomes. This study provides practical implications for improving affective outcomes in the design and implementation of software education.
Dental composites have improved significantly in physical properties over the past few decades. However, polymerization shrinkage and stress is still the major drawback of composites, limiting its use to selected cases. Much effort has been made to make low shrinking composites to overcome this issue and silorane-based composites have recently been introduced into the market. The aim of this study was to measure the volumetric polymerization shrinkage kinetics of a silorane-based composite and compare it with conventional methacrylate-based composites in order to evaluate its effectiveness in reducing polymerization shrinkage. Five commercial methacrylate-based (Beautifil, Z100, Z250, Z350 and Gradia X) and a silorane-based (P90) composites were investigated. The volumetric change of the composites during light polymerization was detected continuously as buoyancy change in distilled water by means of Archemedes' principle, using a newly made volume shrinkage measurement instrument. The null hypothesis was that there were no differences in polymerization shrinkage, peak polymerization shrinkage rate and peak shrinkage time between the silorane-based composite and methacrylate-based composites. The results were as follows: 1. The shrinkage of silorane-based (P90) composites was the lowest (1.48%), and that of Beautifil composite was the highest (2.80%). There were also significant differences between brands among the methacrylate-based composites. 2. Peak polymerization shrinkage rate was the lowest in P90 (0.13%/s) and the highest in Z100 (0.34%/s). 3. The time to reach peak shrinkage rate of the silorane-based composite (P90) was longer (6.7 s) than those of the methacrylate-based composites (2.4-3.1 s). 4. Peak shrinkage rate showed a strong positive correlation with the product of polymerization shrinkage and the inverse of peak shrinkage time (R = 0.95).
Objectives: The aim of this study was to examine the effectiveness of a qigong-based stress management program in pregnant women. Method: A 8 week controlled clinical trial compared 52 pregnant women assigned qigong-based stress management program to 40 pregnant women assigned pregnancy health education program. Edinburgh postnatal depression scale(EPDS), Beck depression inventory(BDI), Spielberger trait state inventory-1(STAI-1), Hamilton depression rating scale(HAM-D), Hamilton anxiety scale(HAM-A) were used to measure anxiety and depression level. Result : Qigong-based stress management group showed significant improvement compared to the education control group on four measures above. Qigong-based stress management group also showed significant improvement at 8 weeks termination on all measures of anxiety and depression compared to pretreatment level. Conclusion : This study showed that qigong-based stress management program can be an effective method for pregnant women.
A study was conducted to investigate the possibility of improving the effectiveness of the existing method(s) to estimate the edible meat weight in live broiler chicken. Four. breeds of chicken, white Cornish broiler chicks(parent stock), Single Comb White Leghorn(SCWL) egg strain chicks (parent stock), and two reciprocal cross breds of these parent stocks were employed in this study. A total of 480 birds, 60 male and 60 female chicks for each breed, were used. Ten male and 10 female chicks from each breed were randomly sacrificed at 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 weeks of ages in order to measure the body weight, edible meat weight of breast and 1eg(thigh and drum-stick), various components of body weight and various body shape measurements. In addition, chemical analyses of edible meat were carried out. Results obtained from this sturd were summarized as follows. 1. The average body weights of White Cornish broiler chicks and SCWL egg strain chicks were 1.82${\pm}$0.048kg(X${\pm}$S.E.) and 0.67${\pm}$0.029 kg. respectively, at 8 weeks of age. The feed to gain ratio for White Cornish and SCWL chicks were 2.24 and 3.28, respectively, for 0 to 8 weeks of age. The reciprocal cross bred chicks (White Cornish ${\times}$ SCWL) showed intermediate values in both parameters.
