  • The Semantic Web is an extension of the current Web in which information is given formal and explicit meaning. The Semantic Web enables computer programs to understand information contents and thus facilitates more efficient discovery, automation, integration and sharing of data. To create Semantic Web contents one needs appropriate tools. In this paper, we describe such a toolkit we have constructed. The most important feature of the toolkit is that it makes use of information extraction techniques for automatically annotating web page contents. Experiments with a real life application show promising results and demonstrate the usefulness of the toolkit.

  • A historical investigation reveals that English preposition with underwent a change from OPPOSITION to ASSOCIATION and further to ACCOMPANIMENT, where the first stage shows peculiarity in that the two concepts involved comprise an unusual set to form an extensional chain. Intrigued by this oddity, this paper aims to investigate the semantic structure of English preposition with from a grammaticalization perspective. We review mechanisms and models of semantic change and evaluate their adequacy with the semantic structure and change shown by with. Drawing upon the observed fact that with underwent the apparent antonymic semantic change, it is argued that such semantic change mechanisms as metaphor, metonymy, subjectification, and generalization have difficulties explaining the change, and that only the Frame-of-Focus Variation can effectively account for this peculiar change type. In terms of semantic change models, we argue that the Bleaching Model cannot effectively provide an explanation; that the Loss and Gain Model has problems in explaining the motivation of change directions; that the Metonymic-Metaphoric Model cannot be assessed at the current level of investigation; and that the Overlap Model and the Prototype Extension Model excellently account for the macro-level changes.

  • This paper aims to analyze the influences of the socio-cultural environment on discourse in translation. To illustrate a deep connection between discourses and societies in which they were produced, communicative patterns of high- and low-context cultures are examined. Though the original version of the translated text comes from a different culture, the translation reflects communicative preferences of the target culture. To uncover some of these preferences, a comparative study of two translations from Russian into English and from English into Russian is conducted. This study, together with further investigation of some more recent translations into Russian, revealed a number of choices affected by translators' cultural background (for example, making the translation more emotionally charged) and current ideological preferences in the society (excessive use of anglicisms).

  • This manuscript addressed, the existence and uniqueness result for random impulsive stochastic functional differential equations with finite time delays. The study of random impulsive stochastic system is a new area of research. We interpret the meaning of a stochastic derivative and how it differs from the classical derivative. We prove the existence and uniqueness of mild solutions to the equations by using the successive approximation method. We conclude the article with some interesting future extension. This work extends the work of [18, 12, 20]. Finally, an example is given to illustrate the theoretical result.

  • This study was described to examine the meaning of the media exhibition work <70mK>, which aims to capture the topography of the collective consciousness of the Korean people through large-scale interviews. <70mK> edits and organizes interview images of individual beings in mosaic-like layouts and forms, creating video exhibitions and holding exhibitions. The objects in the split frame show the continuity of differences that reveal their own thoughts and personalities. This is a synchronic and conscious collective typology in which the intrinsic nature of the individuals is embodied in a simultaneous and holistic image. Interview images reveal their own form as a actual being and convey the intrinsic nature of one's own as oral information. <70mK> constructs a new individualization by aesthetically structuring the forms and information of life individuals in the extension of a specific group. The beings in the frame are not communicating with each other and are looking straight ahead. it conveys to visitors their relationship and personality as the preindividual reality. It is the repetitive arrangement and composition of heterogeneity and difference that each individual shows, and is a chain operation that includes collective identity behind it. <70mK> constructs the direct images and sounds of individual interviewee, creating a new form of information transfer called Video Art Exhibition. This makes metaphors and perceptions of the meaning and process of transindividual relationships and the meaning of psychic individuation and collective individuation. This is an appropriate case to explain with modern technology and individualization of Gilbert Simondon thought together with the meaning of becoming and relation of individualization. The exhibition space constructed by <70mK> is an aesthetic methodology of the psychic and collective meaning and its relationship to a particular group of individuals through which they are connected. Simondon studied the meaning of the process of individualization and the meaning of becoming, and is a philosopher who positively considered the potential of modern technology. <70mK> is a new individual as structured and generated ethical reality mediated by modern technology mechanisms and network behaviors. It is an case of an aesthetic and practical methodology of how interviews function as 'transduction' in the process of individualization in which technology is cooperated. The direct images and sounds of <70mK> are systems in which the information of life individuals is carried, amplified, accumulated and transmitted. It is also a new individual as a psychic and collective landscape. It is a newly became exhibition art work through the multiple individualization, and is a representation of transindividual meanings and process. The media exhibition art of individualized metastable states leads to new relationships in which viewers perceive the same preindividual reality and feel affectivity. The exhibition space of <70mK> becomes a stage for preparing the actual possibility of the transindividual group beyond the representation of the semantic function.

  • A design for the merge mode of three dimensional High Efficiency Video Coding (3D-HEVC) is proposed in this paper. The proposed design can reduce the implementation complexity by removing the duplicated modules of the HEVC. For the extension codec, the implementation complexity is as crucial as coding efficiency, meaning if possible, extension codec needs to be easily implemented through by reusing the design of the legacy codec as-is. However, the existing merging process of 3D-HEVC had been built-in integrated in the inside of the HEVC merging process. Thus the duplicated merging process of HEVC had to be fully re-implemented in the 3D-HEVC. Consequently the implementation complexity of the extension codec was very high. The proposed 3D-HEVC merge mode is divided into following two stages; the process to reuse the HEVC modules without any modification; and the reprocessing process for newly added and modified merging modules in 3D-HEVC. By applying the proposed method, the re-implemented HEVC modules, which accounted for 51.4% of 3D-HEVC merge mode confirmed through the operational analysis of algorithm, can be eliminated, while maintaining the same coding efficiency and computational complexity.

  • The goal of this paper is to set the research and development (R&D) strategic plan of Honam Sea Grant (HSG) program which is to secure the base technologies for the success of Jeollanamdo's policy projects in the area of maritime and fisheries. HSG's mission is to support science-based sustainable management, conservation and enhancement of Honam coastal and aquatic resources through research, extension and education. Firstly, 80 cases of Jeollanam-do's policy project and 48 cases of HSG's R&D project are compiled and classified into the five areas of maritime and fisheries. Secondly, typical key words are extracted from each five areas and assessed the inherent meanings of each key words using quarterly segmented meaning allocation techniques with 'intended for practical use', 'intended for theoretical use', 'intended for future', and 'intended for current'. Then, we proposed R&D strategic plan based on the evaluation results and, it's practical use is also discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore the subjective perception of college students' Internet addiction by applying photovoice method, a participatory research method. The subjects of the study were nine university students at G University. The data were analyzed by orientation, photo collection, photo selection, contextualizing and codifying according to the general photo voice research procedure. As a result, 15 sub-categories were derived based on the meaning of Internet addiction, the effects of Internet addiction on life, and how to get out of Internet addiction. The perception of the meaning of Internet addiction was divided into five categories: 'loss of self-regulation', 'habit without exit', 'disconnection from the world', 'loss of me', and 'voluntary prison'. The effects of Internet addiction on life were 5 categories: 'health deterioration', 'social isolation', 'broken daily life', 'anonymous violence' and 'my discovery and life extension'. In terms of how to get out of internet addiction, 'self-looking', 'new hobbies', 'nearby', 'reality meetings', and 'forced blocking' were derived. It suggested the discussion about Internet addiction viewed by college students and the implications of constructing a counseling program that can help to use the Internet correctly.

  • The space where one's body lives is not only a space as the simple environment that is built with the physical factors, but also a space experienced by a movement accompanied by the concept of body perception including mental activities. In this study, the importance of the body is recognized and the meaning of the space of body perception including mental activities is understood. In this manner, the spatial unfolding phase and expression features are to be investigated through a standard of "What do they change?" by grasping those as a flexible space that changes spatial recognition. The following results have been drawn in this study; First, the application of the flexible concept in the space can give rise to the activities of an experiencing person in terms of being the object of spatial experience and appreciation. Also, the application changes a slightly static concept into a relative and dynamic space by introducing the movement. Second, the establishment of a space by a human's movement is accompanied by all perceptions and enables to perceive the space shape, the space itself and mutual communication between the spaces. Third, the expression of the human's movement in the fixed form of space lies in the extension of the fused spacial area with an observer beyond the physical spatial limitation. As human body intervenes in space, the meaning of the space has become more abundant and diverse and the space will be presented as the arena for sensitive and flexible communication as a responsive space that corresponds.
