The fibrogram theory is newly derived from the superposition principle of the conventional staple diagram, in which the left-hand ends of the fibers have to share a common starting point in order for the fiber length distribution to be measured, and the right-hand ends of the fibers form points. It is shown that the fibrogram is the staple diagram of the fiber sample having different random starting points, as well as the double cumulative distribution function of the frequency length function in the length biased sample. Also, the various means, viz. the numerical mean length, numerical mean length in median, length biased mean length, and length biased mean length in median, and the various upper half means, viz. the numerical upper half mean length, numerical upper half mean length in median, length biased upper half mean length, and length biased upper half mean length in median, are discussed in relation to the cotton blending process.
This study attempts to encourage the development of a rehabilitation delivery system as a substitute service for hospitalization such as a community based intermediate facility or home health care. We need substitute services for hospitalization to curtail the length of stay for inpatients due to car accidents. It focused on developing an estimation for early discharge based on a detailed statement of treatment from medical records of 109 inpatients who were hospitalized at General Hospital in 1997. This study has three specific purposes: First, to find the mean length of stay and mean medical expenditure. Second, to estimate the mean of early discharge from the mean length of stay. Third, to analyize the income effect per bed from early discharge. In order to analyze the length of stay and medical expenditure of inpatients the author conducted a micro and macro-analysis with medical expenditure records. To estimate the early discharge we examined with a group of 4 experts decreases in the amount of treatment after surgery, in treatments, in tests, in drug methods. We also looked their vital signs, the start of ROM exercise, the time removel, a patient's visitations, and possible stable conditions. In addition to identifing the income effect due to an early discharge, the data was analyzed by an SPSS-PC for windows and Excell program with a regression analysis model. The research findings are as follows: First, the mean length of stay was 47.56 days, but the mean length of stay due to early discharge was 32.26 days. The estimation of early discharge days was shown to depend on the length of stay. The longer the length of stay, the longer the length before discharge. For example, if the patient stayed under 14 days the mean length of stay was 7.09 while an early discharge was 6.39, whereas if the mean length of stay was 155.73, the early discharge time was 107.43. The mean medical expenditure per day of car accident patients was found to be 169,085 Won, whereas the mean medical expenditure per day was shown to be in a negative linear form according to the length of stay. That is the mean expenditure for under 14 days of stay was 303,015 Won and the period of the hospitalization of 15 days to 29 days was 170,338 Won and those of 30 days to 59 days was 113,333 Won. The estimation of the income effect due to being discharged 16 days was around 2,350,000 Won with a regression analysis model. However, this does not show the real benefits from an early discharge, but only the income increasing amount without considering prime medical cost at a general hospital. Therefore, we need further analysis on cost containments and benefits incending turn over rates and medical prime costs. From these research findings, the following suggestions have been drawn, we need to develop strategies on a rehabilitation delivery system focused on consumers for the 21st century. Varions intermediate facilities and home health care should be developed in the community as a substitute for shortening the length of stay in hospitals. In home health care cases, patients who want rehabilitation services as a substitute for hospitalization in cooperation with private health insurance companies might be available immediately.
Cumulative sum schemes based on a weighted score are considered for controlling the mean of a continuous production process; in which both the one-sided and two-sided schemes are proposed. The average run lengths and the run length distributions for the proposed schemes are obtained by the Markov chain approach. Comparisons by the average run length show that the proposed schemes perform nearly as well as the standard cumulative sum schemes in detecting changes in the process mean. Comparisons of the one-sided schemes by the run length distribution are also presented.
Background: Organism body size is a basic characteristic in ecology; it is related to temperature according to temperature-size rule. Butterflies are affected in various aspects by climate change because they are sensitive to temperature. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand the effect of an increase in temperature due to global warming on the wing of butterflies. Results: A total of 671 butterflies belonging to 9 species were collected from 1990 to 2016 in Seoul (336 specimens) and Mokpo (335 specimens). Consequently, as the mean temperature increased, the wing length of the species increased. However, there are exceptions that the Parnassius stubbendorfii, Pieridae canidia, and Pieris rapae wing length of Seoul increased, but the butterfly wing length of Mokpo decreased. Conclusions: The positive correlations between the butterfly wing length and mean temperature showed that the change of mean temperature for about 26 years affects the wing length of butterfly species. The exception is deemed to have been influenced by the limited research environment, and further studies are needed. We would expect that it can be provided as basic data for studying effect of climate change.
During canal instrumentation of a curved canal, restoring force of endodontic instrument remove more dentin from the inner wall of the curvature. This effect tends to straighten the canal and thus may significantly shorten the working length. This study was to determine the mean reduction in working length after instrumentation according to the curvature. The curvature of mandibular mesial root was determined before instrumentation. 30 canals were divided into 3 groups each 10 on the basis of degree of curvature. Experimental groups as follows. In group 1, canals having curvature from 15 to 20 degrees: in group 2, canals having curvature from 20 to 30degrees; in group 3, canals having curvature above 30 degrees. Experimental teeth in all groups were accessed, and their actual working length determined by passing a size 15 K-file(IAF) just through the minor apical foramen. The canals were sequentially enlarged to size 35 with ProFile .06 series. The change of working length was calculated by measuring the tip of IAF beyond apical foramen by using stereomicroscope. The change of canal curvature following instrumentation were measured using the Schneider technique. The results were as follows. 1. The greatest changes of curvature and working length were observed in the group 3 canals(P<0.05), next were group 2 canals and group 1 canals(P>0.05). 2. Group 1 canals showed a mean reduction in 1.61 degrees and length of 0.12m respectively(P>0.05). 3. Group 2 canals showed a mean reduction in 3.42 degrees(P<0.05) and length of 0.25mm(P>0.05) respectively. 4. Group 3 canals showed a mean reduction in 7.23 degrees(<0.05) and length of 0.64mm respectively(P<0.05).
The mesiodistal crown diameters and crown length of the permanent anterior teeth have been studied and analyzed about the mean size, S.D, S.E etcs from stone models of 100 Korean male and 74 female. From the study, the following conclusions were made : 1. Statistical differences of left and right teeth were not found in the mesio distal crown diameters and crown length of the permanent anterior teeth. 2. The mean values of mesiodistal crown diameters of permanent anterior teeth were slightly larger in male than in females and statistical differences of males and females were found in maxillary right central incisor, mandibular left canine, mandibular right lateral incisor and mandibular right canine. 3. The mean values of crown length of permanent anterior teeth were slightly larger in male than in female and statistical differences of males and females were found in mandibular left canine, mandibular right canine. 4. Mesiodistal crown diameters and crown length of maxillary left lateral incisors and right lateral incisors of female are larger than that of male.
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the accuracy of stride time and stride length provided by a commercial APDM inertial sensor system (APDM) with the results of three dimensional motion capture system (3D motion) during treadmill walking. Method: Five healthy men participated in this experiment. All subjects walked on the treadmill for 3 minutes at their preferred walking speed. The 3D motion and the APDM were simultaneously used for extracting gait variables such as stride time and stride length. Mean difference and root mean squared (RMS) difference were used to compare the measured gait variables from the two measurement devices. The regression equation derived from the range of motion of the lower limb was also applied to correct the error of stride length. Results: The stride time extracted from the APDM was almost the same as that from the 3D motion (the mean difference and RMS difference were less than 0.0001 sec and 0.0085 sec, respectively). For stride length, mean difference and RMS difference were less than 0.1141 m and 0.1254 m, respectively. However, after correction of the stride length error using the derived regression equation, the mean difference and the RMS difference decreased to 0.0134 m and 0.0556 m or less, respectively. Conclusion: In this study, we confirmed the possibility of using the temporal variables provided from the APDM during treadmill walking. By applying the regression equation derived only from the range of motion provided by the APDM, the error of the spatial variable could be reduced. Although further studies are needed with additional subjects and various walking speeds, these results may provide the basic data necessary for using APDM in treadmill walking.

An experimental study has been conducted at an intermediate scale to study the effect of a cross flow on a purely buoyant fire. Video taping of the flame and post processing of the images by means of a novel technique provide a contour of a mean flame for all cases studied. This flame contour allows the determination of a mean flame length and a mean flame height. The mean flame length and height are recorded as functions of the forced flow velocity. Three dimensional flow patterns are formed in the flame trailing edge affecting both the mean flame length and height. The three dimensional patterns are studied systematically as functions of the cross flow velocity to quantify the effect of confinement on the flame geometry.
To investigate the depth of the root concavity and root surface area of the maxillary first premolar, 40 maxillary first premolars were used. All the teeth which extracted because of advanced periodontal disease and orthodontic treatment procedure, were sectioned every 1.5mm from cementoenameljunction to the apex with hard tissue microtome. Each sectioned root was taken photograph with slide film, and projected for measuring with a calibrated digital Curvi-Meter. The root surface area, percentage of the RSA and the linear variation of the RSA were calibrated for each 1.5mm section. Linear variation of the depth of root concavity was measured on mesial and distal root surface for each section using computer-aided digitizer. The results were as follows. 1. The total mean root length of maxillary first premolar was 13.48mm. Mean buccal root length of 2-rooted tooth was 12.59mm, mean palatal root length was 12.73mm, and mean root length of single rooted tooth was 13.78mm. 2. The total mean root surface area of maxillary first premolar was $194.17mm^2$, mean root surface area for 2-rooted tooth was $205.97mm^2$ and mean root surface area for single rooted tooth was $188.49mm^2$. 3. It was 59.93% of the total root surface area that the area from CEJ to coronal 6mm. And, the coronal half of the root length accounted for approximately 71.76% of the total root surface area. 4. Most deepest concavity of the mesial root surface was 0.65mm at apical 3.0mm, 4.5mm level in maxillary first premolar. And, that of the distal root surface was 0.37mm at apical 4.5mm level. 5. All of the maxillary first premolar had mesial root surface concavity. This mesial root surface concavity appeared to be more pronounced in 2-rooted tooth than single rooted tooth.
Purpose : The purpose of this study was to analyze the coordination of the trunk tilting angle and bilateral lower limbs according to the stirrups length during trot in equestrian. Methods : Participants selected as subject were consisted of adult male(n=7, mean age: $45.00{\pm}3.78yrs$, mean height: $172.50{\pm}2.44cm$, mean body mass: $76.95{\pm}4.40kg$, mean, mean leg length: $97.30{\pm}2.60cm$). They were divided into 3-types of stirrups lengths(67 cm, 72 cm, 77 cm) during trot. The variables analyzed were consisted of the trunk front-rear angle, lower limb joint(Right Left hip, knee, ankle), overall movement index(OMI) of the lower limbs(thigh, shank, foot) and asymmetry index(AI%) during trot. Results : The average angle in hip and knee joint showed more extended posture according to the increase of stirrups lengths and ankle angle showed more plantarflexion posture according to increase of stirrups length during 1 stride in trot. Also, average angle showed more extended posture in right hip and ankle joint than that of left. The angle of knee joint didn't show significant difference statistically between right and left. Also asymmetric index in average angle of hip, knee and ankle joint didn't show significant difference statistically in between lower limbs, but hip joint showed higher asymmetric index in stirrup length of 77 cm and ankle joint showed higher asymmetric index in stirrup length of 67 cm than that of the others respectively. The FR angle in trunk of horse-rider showed relative backward leaning motions at stirrup length of 67 cm and 77 cm than that of stirrup length of 72 cm during stance and swing phase. OMI in thigh, shank, and foot limbs didn't show significant difference statistically according to the stirrups length of right and left lower limbs, but left lower limbs showed higher index than that of right lower limb. Stirrup length of 72 cm in shank and foot limbs showed higher index than that of stirrup length of 67 cm and 77 cm. But stirrup length of 72 cm showed higher asymmetric index than that of stirrups length of 67 cm and 77 cm. Conclusions : When considering the above, 72 cm(ratio of lower limb 74.04%) stirrup lengths could be useful in posture correction and stabilization than 67cm(ratio of lower limb 68.69%) and 77 cm(ratio of lower limb 79.18%) stirrup lengths during trot in horse back riding.
