감각처리와 관련된 섭식기능의 평가와 중재방법에 대한 고찰 (Feeding Children with Disabilities and Related Evaluations and Interventions)

  • 섭식기술의 문제는 성장, 학습, 의사소통, 다른 아동과의 상호작용 등 삶의 모든 면에 영향을 줄 수 있다. 구강섭식은 입을 열고 음식/액체를 입속에 넣고 삼키는 것이다. 본 문헌연구의 목적은 아동의 섭식과 관련된 평가방법과 중재방법에 대해 알아보는 것이다. 섭식은 아동 초기 발달의 중요한 요소이며 일상생활 참여를 촉진한다. 아동이 음식을 먹을 때 받아들이는 방법에 차이가 있다. 그 이유로는 음식으로부터 제공되는 감각자극의 등록과 해석의 과정을 거쳐 섭식행동으로 나타나기 때문이다. 감각처리 문제로 인한 섭식의 문제는 촉각과민성, 구강거부, 촉각과소반응, 구강실 행증으로 분류할 수 있다. 섭식문제의 평가 가운데 감각처리 과정에서 나타날 수 있는 문제들을 확인하고 중재계획을 세우기 위해서는 섭식과 관련된 신경학적 과정을 이해하고 섭식과 관련된 감각처리의 특성을 아는 것이 중요하 다. 또한 감각처리와 관련되어 야기된 섭식문제의 중재방법을 고찰하는 것은 의의가 있으며, 이는 섭식에 관한 효율적인 접근을 통해 아동들에게 보다 나은 삶을 제공할 수 있으리라 기대된다.

경북 농촌지역 여성 독거노인과 가족동거노인의 식습관 및 계절별 식품섭취 다양성 비교 (Dietary Behaviors and Seasonal Diversity of Food Intakes of Elderly Women Living Alone as Compared to Those Living with Family in Gyeongbuk Rural Area)

  • The purpose of this study was to assess dietary habits and seasonal variation and diversity of food intakes of elderly women living alone as compared to those of elderly women living with family in a rural area. Forty nine elderly women living alone and forty one elderly women living with family who reside in Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk, were interviewed using questionnaires in summer 2005, and their food intakes were assessed secondly in winter and thirdly in spring 2006. The average ages were 74.7 years for elderly living alone and 72.8 years for elderly living with family. Tooth status and bone fracture experience were similar between the groups. The prevalence of musculoskeletal disease was 61.2% and that of circulatory disease was 32.7% of the subjects. Average of total score of mental depression of the subjects was 5.94 out of 12 points, and it was not significantly different between the two groups. Skipping meals was more frequent and mealtime was more irregular in the elderly women living alone as compared with the elderly women living with family. Consumption of dietary supplements was also less in the elderly women living alone. Food intakes by the elderly women living alone tended to be lower than those by the elderly women living with family. Dietary diversity score was significantly lower with the elderly women living alone as compared with the elderly women living with family only in summer (p < 0.01). Percentages of the subjects who have taken meat group and vegetable group were significantly lower in the elderly living alone compared with the elderly living with family during summer. Therefore, it is necessary to develop food assistance or supporting program suited for the season within a community for elderly women living alone.

서울 지역 대학생의 식습관 및 식생활태도에 관한 조사 (A Study on the Food Habits and the Dietary Behaviors of University student in Seoul)

  • This study was to investigate the food habits and the dietary behaviors of university students. Questionnaires were completed by 492 students in five different departments. The data were analyzed by SAS program. The results are summarized as follows: Fifty(10.2%) of respondents were vegetarians, 81(16.4%) were heavy meat eaters and all the others were light meat eaters. All students had their biggest meal at supper. Three hundred and ninety-three(79.9%) of the respondents usually had rice for breakfast. Three hundred -sixteen(64.2%) ate 3 meals a day, 155(31.5%) ate 2 meals and all the others ate 1 meal or more than 3 meals. The length of mealtime was 30 minutes in 268(54.5%), 10 minutes in 209(42.5%) and more than 1 hour in all the others. Respondents considered taste the most important meal factor with nutrition, hygiene, and amount ranked accordingly. A majority(63.0%) of respondents ate occasionally ate between meals, while 28.1% snacked frequently, and 8.9% ate no snacks. Although nutrition dept. students had studied nutrition subject, some results of nutrition dept. students were desirable and others were undesirable in dietary behaviors. Therefore they should have a nutritional education program to improve their food habits and the dietary behaviors for students' health. And nutritional education program should be organized practically and systematically.

초등학생 및 그 학부모의 학교급식에 대한 만족도 -서울 지역 일부 공동조리 및 위탁경영 급식학교의 비교- (Comparisons of Children' and Their Parents' Satisfaction of School Lunch Program in Elementary School by Foodservice System)

  • The satisfaction of elementary school children and their parents with the school lunch program by foodservice system was assessed by questionnaire. 787 (347 male, 417 female) 5th grade elementary school children and 761 parents participated. Foodservice systems of the schools were of 4 types : central/commissary ; satellite /commissary ; conventional/contracted ; and delivery/contracted. The most joyful mealtime for children was identified as lunch because of eating with friends. Satiety and leftovers after lunch varied according to the foodservice system. For example , there was less satiety in the contracted system and more leftovers in the delivery system than in the others, Foods tasted better in the commissary system than in the contracted one. The contacted system , especially the delivery/contracted system, was poor for keeping rice and soup hot. The children's food habits such as eating a greater variety of foods and good table manner were improved through the school munch program. Most parents well understood the main purpose of the school lunch program to be a source of education on nutrition and table manner, as well as a way in which to provide the same meals to all students and save the time & work needed to prepare home lunches. Parents claimed that hygiene, taste, good nutrition and food amount should be improved. This was especially true for hygiene in the commissary system and taste in the contracted system. Furthermore, they stressed that better taste and hygiene are the most important criteria for good school foodservice systems. In conclusion, parents wanted the school lunch program should be selected with consideration of children's preference such as by periodical food preference tests. A nutrition education program should also be provided to correct bad food habits of childrens.

Evaluation of 8-week body weight control program including sea tangle (Laminaria japonica) supplementation in Korean female college students

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of a body weight control program with supplementation of sea tangle (20 g/day) on 22 female college students. The contents of the program for 8 weeks contained diet therapy, exercise and behavioral modification through nutrition education. Body composition, dietary habit scores, serum lipid profiles, daily nutrient intakes and the quality of life were assessed at the beginning and at the end of the program. Average age of subjects and height were 20.8 years and 161.9 cm, respectively. After 8 weeks, there were significant reductions in body weight, body fat mass, percent body fat, waist-hip ratio and BMI. The dietary habit score such as a balanced diet, regularity of mealtime, overeating, eating while watching TV or using the computer and eating salty food were increased significantly. Serum lipid levels such as total cholesterol level, LDL-cholesterol level and triglyceride level were decreased but not significantly. There were decreases in intake of energy, protein and fat and increases in intakes of dietary fiber, folic acid, calcium and potassium from the beginning to the end of the program. There were significant improvements on subcomponents of quality of life; physical functioning, general-health and vitality. The limitation of this study was the fact that there was no control group, but an overall evaluation suggests the 8-week body weight control program consisting of diet therapy, exercise and behavioral modification with supplementation of sea tangle would be helpful to improve the body composition, dietary habits, daily nutrient intakes and quality of life in Korean female college students.

대학도서관 사서들의 작업관련 근골격계 질환 위험요인에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Risk Factors of Work-Related Musculoskeletal Disorders in Librarians of University Libraries)

  • 이 연구는 근골격계 질환의 발생에 영향을 미칠 것으로 예상되는 요인들에 대해 20개 대학도서관 300명(266명 응답)의 사서들을 대상으로 설문조사를 실시하여 그 결과를 분석하였다. 응답자의 62.5%가 근골격계 질환 자각증상을 호소하였다. 근골격계 증상의 요인들을 분석한 후, 각 부위별로 유의미한 영향을 미치는 주요 요인들을 독립변수로 하여 다중회귀분석을 한 결과는 아래와 같다. 즉, 목의 증상에 영향을 미치는 변수는 근무조건 만족도였으며, 근무 만족도가 높을수록 목 부위의 증상 정도가 낮은 것으로 나타났다. 어깨부위의 증상에 대해서는 근무만족도, 작업강도, 식사시간이 설명변수로 선택되었다. 식사시간이 불규칙적일수록, 작업강도가 높을수록, 근무만족도가 낮을수록 증상의 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 이중에서도 특히 근무 만족도의 영향이 큰 것으로 나타났다. 팔 팔꿈치에서는 숙련도가 설명변수로 선택되었으며, 업무 숙련도가 높을수록 증상 정도가 높게 나타났다. 손가락 손목을 설명해주는 설명변수로는 업무 스트레스가 선택되었으며, 업무 스트레스가 많을수록 증상 정도가 높은 것으로 나타났다. 등 허리에서는 작업강도, 직장 만족도가 설명변수로 선택되었고, 작업강도가 높을수록, 직장 만족도가 낮을수록 증상이 높은 것으로 나타났다. 마지막으로 무릎 다리의 경우 흡연여부가 선택되었으며 비흡연자일수록 증상이 낮은 것으로 나타났다.

경기도 농촌지역 주부의 식습관 및 건강상태 실태조사 (A Study on the Food Habit and Health Status of the Rural Housewives in Gyonggi Province)

  • This study was carried out to investigate the food habit and health status of housewives in rural area of Gyonggi Province. The subjects of this study were 121 rural housewives and interviewed with a questionnaire. The results were as follows 1. In food habit items, the mean of Kimchi intake ($4.89\pm0.38$) was the highest, while that of meat processed food intake ($2.12\pm1.07$) was the lowest. The average of food habit score was $53.1\pm7.7$(out of 80) and was not significantly different with educational level, income, family type, size and agricultural type. In age, older subjects had low score. In regular mealtime, 74.4% of subjects had high score. The subjects that had good appetite were 49.6%. 2. The average of height and weight were 156.99cm and 55.5kg respectively. The appeal ratio in THI items was high in the order of musculoskeletal pain (1.62), tired (1.88), eye-fatigued (1.91), mental instability (2.03) and depression (2.07). The average of THI score was $32.7\pm5.5$(out of 45) and was not significantly different with educational level, income, family type and size, but the subjects of younger and nonagricultural belonged to high score level. The percentage of subjects in normal blood pressure, obesity and retained disease at present were 66.9%, 6.1% and 23.1% respectively. There was no significant difference except for good appetite in the relation among food habit, obesity and blood pressure. Food habit score was not significantly different with THI score, but health status seemed to be good in the better food habit.

Prevalence of Drug Abuse and Smoking and Dietary Behavior of Male Students at Technical High School

  • To investigate the relationship between eating behavior and the prevalence of adolescents drug abuse and smoking, this survey was conducted among 349 male students(mean age ; 16.0 $\pm$0.9yrs) at technical high schools in Kyunggi-Do. It was shown that 58.7% of total subjects were smoking and 11.2% were abusing drugs. Drug abusers weighed Less than non-abusers especially, student smokers were 2.7kg lighter than non-smokers despite the same height. Although parents' education showed no relationship with drug abuse, educational level of student smokers' fathers was significantly lower than that of non-smokers' fathers. Drug abusers and smokers showed significantly higher incidence of runaway from home, absence from school without notice, and parents' divorce than non-abusers and non-smokers. Drugs abused were sleeping pills(n=20), bonds and butane gas(n=9), marijuana(n=3), tranquilizer(n=3), morphine and cocaine(n=2), and pep pills like amphetamine(n=2) 76.9% of the drug abusers had their first experience in junior high school and 81% of the smokers stared smoking as early as in junior high school. Also, 44% of the smokers reported that they smoke daily. The drug abusers tended to have more irregular eating habits than the non-abusers. The smokers showed irregular mealtime, ate either too fast or too slow, and especially, often skipped lunch or dinner. The drug abusers and smokers took little vegetable in their meals and often ate bread or noodles instead of rice for staples. In addition, they preferred taste to nutrition when they had meals. The smokers tended to ingest smaller amount of calcium source such as milk or dinner food and fish with bone although they consume more volume of total foods than the non-smokers. All subjects took less in calorie, calcium, iron, vitamin A, vitamin E, riboflavin, and folic acid than the Recommended Dietary Allowance Those findings suggest that drug abuse and smoking cause bad eating habits that influence unbalanced nutritional state. Therefore, nutrition education should be provided to the adolescents so that they can recognize the disadvantages of drug and smoking and its relation to dietary relation. A Systematic Review of Studies Using Video-recording to Capture Interactions between Staff and Persons with Dementia in Long-term Care Facilities

  • Purpose: The use of video-recording offers important advantages in observing and assessing the relationship between specific behaviors in health care settings. The purpose of this systematic review is to investigate and synthesize the methodological characteristics of studies using video-technology for measuring interactions with the older persons with dementia and staff in long-term care facilities. Methods: We searched Medline, Embase and CINHAL databases for published articles in English using a video-recording method for both staff and the residents with dementia. Quantitative research design studies (e.g., descriptive or experimental studies) were included. Results: Among 5,605 searched papers, a total of 20 studies were selected for this review. Situations of video-recording were providing personal care (n=12), mealtime (n=6), and conversation (n=3). Concepts measured by video-recording were classified into two groups: 1) Staff [care practice by staff (n=13) and communication by staff (n=11)] and 2) residents [communication by resident (n=4), activities of daily life function of resident (n=8), and behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (n=10)]. Conclusion: This review demonstrates that video technologies are actively used to evaluate the relationship between quality of care and health outcomes of the elderly with dementia in many international nursing studies. This study provides the foundation for a future research using video-recording technologies to examine the interactions and relationships between staff and the residents in Korean long-term care settings.

중고생학생의 음료 섭취 실태에 관한 연구 -대전지역을 중심으로- (Study on the Status of Beverage Consumption of Middle and High School Students)

  • As the level of life improves, the pattern of beverage comsumption are being changed. We came to drink more beverage than ever before, and I think, the remarkable increase of beverage consumption will have a great effect on our health. We examined the drinking pattern of 447 middle school and high school students in Taejeon City from 24 to 29, May, 1989. We studied about the amount of drinking beverage and the correlation between the amount and the various factors to have effects on the amount. They usually drink total 604.6ml/day, water 292.8ml, soft drink 131.8ml, milk 109.2ml, fruit juice 26.1ml, vegetable juice 9.6ml, coffee & tea 21.7ml, korean tea 15.4ml. Beside, middle school students drink 654.4ml and high school students drink 560.7ml. The male drink 620.1ml and the female drink 589.2ml. The average amount of beverage consumption per a unit weight is total 13.3ml and middle school students (654.3ml) drink more than high school students (560.7ml) but the average amount is same between the male and the female. They usually drink 343.5ml of beverage at their homes, and they drink more at their homes than away from homes. In addition, at the correlation between the amount of drinking beverage and the various factor to have effects on the amount, the students who have snacks very often drink more than those who don't. And the students who like meat-diet drink much more than meat & vagetabe-diet persons and vegetorians. And the students who eat pread often drink more than those who have rice at every mealtime.
