Gene-gene interaction is a key factor for explaining missing heritability. Many methods have been proposed to identify gene-gene interactions. Multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) is a well-known method for the detection of gene-gene interactions by reduction from genotypes of single-nucleotide polymorphism combinations to a binary variable with a value of high risk or low risk. This method has been widely expanded to own a specific objective. Among those expansions, fuzzy-MDR uses the fuzzy set theory for the membership of high risk or low risk and increases the detection rates of gene-gene interactions. Fuzzy-MDR is expanded by a maximum likelihood estimator as a new membership function in empirical fuzzy MDR (EFMDR). However, EFMDR is relatively slow, because it is implemented by R script language. Therefore, in this study, we implemented EFMDR using RCPP ($c^{{+}{+}}$ package) for faster executions. Our implementation for faster EFMDR, called EMMDR-Fast, is about 800 times faster than EFMDR written by R script only.

본 논문에서는 IM-OFDM-SS(index modulated orthogonal frequency division multiplexing with spread spectrum)와 IM-OFDM-QOS(IM-OFDM with quasi-orthogonal sequence) 시스템을 위한 2 단계 검출 (2-stage detection) 방법에 대해 연구하였다.

To define an analytical model for a structural system or to assess damage in the system, system identification(SI) methods have been developed and widely applied. The paper presents a method of determining optimal sensor location(OSL) based on the maximum likelihood approach, which is applicable to modal SI methods. To estimate unknown parameters reliably, it is necessary that the information provided by the experiment should be maximized. By applying the Cramer-Rao inequality, a Fisher information matrix in terms of the probability density function of measurements is obtained from a lower bound of the estimation error. The paper also proposes a scheme of determining of OSL on damaged structures by using maximum strain energy factor. Simulation studies have carried out to investigate the proposed OSL algorithm for both undamaged and damaged structures.

In this study, software products developed in the course of testing, software managers in the process of testing software test and test tools for effective learning effects perspective has been studied using the NHPP software. The finite failure non-homogeneous Poisson process models presented and the life distribution applied extreme distribution which used to find the minimum (or the maximum) of a number of samples of various distributions. Software error detection techniques known in advance, but influencing factors for considering the errors found automatically and learning factors, by prior experience, to find precisely the error factor setting up the testing manager are presented comparing the problem. As a result, the learning factor is greater than automatic error that is generally efficient model could be confirmed. This paper, a numerical example of applying using time between failures and parameter estimation using maximum likelihood estimation method, after the efficiency of the data through trend analysis model selection were efficient using the mean square error.

The implement the adaptive partial response maximum likelihood (PRML) detector with tilt analyzer for asymmetric high-density optical storage system. For the estimation of disc tilt, we exploit spc patterns in each data frame. Because of using the ROM table to renew the coefficients of equalizer and reference values of branches, the complexity of the hardware is reduced. The proposed PRML has been designed and verified by VerilogHDL and synthesized by the Synopsys Design Compiler with Hynix $0.35{\mu}m$ STD cell library. In the result, the total gate count is 35K, and the maximum operating frequency is 140MHz.
In this paper, we present symbol detection methods for decision feedback equalizers (DFE) in trellis coded modulation systems. The proposed symbol detectors improve symbol error rate (SER) by exploiting the coding structure of trellis coded modulation (TCM). For example, for 8-PAM signals the achieved SER with the proposed detection scheme is improved to $2{\times}10^{-5}$ from $2.5{\times}10^{-2}$ of the conventional symbol-by-symbol detector under AWGN channel at 20dB SNR. This SER improvements mitigate error propagation of DFE.and produces significant over-all SER improvement for under multipath channels (for example, from 0.26 to 0.01 and 0.005 under a severe multipath channel 20dB SNR as shown in the simulation result of this paper).

In the blind Maximum-likelihood (ML) detection for Orthogonal Space-Time Block Codes (OSTBC), the problem of ambiguity in determining the symbols has been a great concern. A possible solution to this problem is to apply semi-blind ML detection, i.e. the blind ML decoding with pilot symbols or training sequence. In order to increase the performance, the number of pilot symbols or length of training sequence should be increased. Unfortunately, this leads to a significantly decrease in system spectral efficiency. This work presents an approach to resolve the aforementioned issue by introducing a new method for constructing transmitted information symbols, in which transmitting information symbols drawn form different modulation constellations. Therefore, the ambiguity can be easily eliminated. In addition, computer simulation is implemented to verify the performance of the proposed approach.

Forward error correction (FEC) coding schemes using iterative soft decision detection (SDD) information are mandatory in most of the next generation wireless communication system, in order to combat inevitable channel imparirnents. At the same time, space-time block coding (STBC) schemes are used for the diversity gain. Therefore, SDD information has to be fed into FEC decoder. In this paper, we propose efficient SDD methods for turbo-coded STBC system using high order modulation such as QAM. We present simulation results of various SDD schemes for turbo-coded STBC systems, and show that the proposed methods can provide almost approximating performance to maximum likelihood detection with much less computational load.
Natural and artificial land features are very dynamic, changing somewhat repidly in our lifetime. It is important that such changes are inventoried accurately so that the physical and human processes at work can be more fully understood. Change detection is a technique used to determine the change between two or more time periods of a particular object of study. Change detection is an important process in monitoring and managing natural resources and urban development because it provides quantitative analysis of the spatial distribution in the population of interest. The purpose of this research is to detect environmental changes surrounding an area of Mountain Moscow, Idaho using Landsat Thematic Maper (TM) images of (July 8, 1990 and July 20, 1991). For accurate classification, the Image enhancement process was performed for improving the image quality of each image. A SPOT image (Aug. 14, 1992) was used for image merging in this research. Supervised classification was performed using the maximum likelihood method. Accuracy assessments were done for each classification. Two images were compared on a pixel-by-pixel basis using the post-classification comparison method that is used for detecting the changes of the study area in this research. The 'from-to' change class information can be detected by post classification comparison using this method and we could find which class change to another.

This paper presents the performance evaluation of an amplify-and-forward (AF) relay-assisted multiuser multiple input-multiple output (MU-MIMO) downlink transmission system for correlated fading channels. The overall system performance was improved by incorporating a double-quadrature spatial modulation (DQSM) scheme. The bit error rate (BER) performance and detection complexity of the AF-MU-MIMO-DQSM system were analyzed and compared with those of a conventional AF-MU-MIMO system under the same conditions and parameters. The results showed that the correlated fading channel severely affected the performance of systems with higher spectral efficiency (SE). Considering an SE of 12 bpcu/user, the AF-MU-MIMO-DQSM system yielded a gain of up to 3 dB in BER performance compared with that of its conventional counterpart for the analyzed cases. In terms of detection complexity, the AF-MU-MIMO-DQSM system showed a reduction of up to 56 % compared with that of the conventional system for the optimal maximum likelihood detection criterion.
