철근콘크리트 깊은 보의 전단 내력에 대한 개구부 보강 효과 (Effect of Reinforcement for Web Opening on Shear Strength of Reinforced Concrete Deep Beams)

  • 일반적으로 깊은 보의 개구부 보강을 할 경우 개구부 주변의 부족한 내력에 대해 수직, 수평, 대각, 혹은 혼합된 배근 형태를 사용하게 되는데, 경제성과 구조적 안전성을 고려하기 위해서는 각 배근 형태 및 방법에 따른 깊은 보의 거론 평가와 적절한 조합에 관한 연구가 절실히 필요하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 개구부 보강방법을 변수로 한 simulation 모델을 통해 수직, 수평 보강의 효과에 대해 해석적으로 검증을 한 후, 각 규준에서 제시하고 있는 개구부가 있는 깊은 보의 전단 내력식을 분석하고 해당 식을 보완하여 단순지지 1경간 및 연속 경간에 적용 가능한 전단 내력 산정식을 제안하고자 한다.

Numerical investigation on punching shear of RC slabs exposed to fire

  • This paper describes the numerical modelling of an interior slab-column connection to investigate the punching shear resistance of reinforced concrete (RC) slabs under fire conditions. Parameters of the study were the fire direction, flexural reinforcement ratio, load levels, shear reinforcement and compressive strength of concrete. Moreover, the efficiency of the insulating material, gypsum, in reducing the heat transferred to the slab was assessed. Validation studies were conducted comparing the simulation results to experiments from the literature and common codes of practice. Temperature dependencies of both concrete and reinforcing steel bars were considered in thermo-mechanical analyses. Results showed that there is a slight difference in temperature endurance of various models with respect to concrete with different compressive strengths. It was also concluded that compared to a slab without gypsum, 10-mm and 20-mm thick gypsum reduce the maximum heat transferred to the slab by 45.8% and 70%, respectively. Finally, it was observed that increasing the flexural reinforcement ratio changes the failure mode from flexural punching to brittle punching in most cases.

전단보강비에 따른 FRP 쉬트의 전단보강성능 (Shear Strengthening Effect of RC Beams with FRP Sheets with respect to Shear Reinforcement Ration)

  • In the shear strengthening with FRP sheets, beams are wrapped around the webs and tension face of critical shear span by fiber sheets. The shear strength of RC beam strengthened with FRP sheets must be calculated based on the effective strain that can be developed in the FRP sheets at ultimate stage because the final failure modes of beams are governed by premature debonding of FRP sheet due to the limitation of bonded length by beam depth. An experimental study is carried out to evaluate the shear strengthening effect of AFRP or GFRP sheets with respect to shear reinforcement ratio of rebar. From the test results, it was found that the additional shear strength provided by GFRP or AFRP can be estimated by $p_w{\cdot}f_w$ based on the maximum effective strain of FRP sheet $4,000m{\mu}$ proposed by ACI 440 committee.

Shear Strength of Prestressed Steel Fiber Concrete I-Beams

  • Six full-scale prestressed concrete (PC) I-beams with steel fibers were tested to failure in this work. Beams were cast without any traditional transverse steel reinforcement. The main objective of the study was to determine the effects of two variables-the shear-span-to-depth ratio and steel fiber dosage, on the web-shear and flexural-shear modes of beam failure. The beams were subjected to concentrated vertical loads up to their maximum shear or moment capacity using four hydraulic actuators in load and displacement control mode. During the load tests, vertical deflections and displacements at several critical points on the web in the end zone of the beams were measured. From the load tests, it was observed that the shear capacities of the beams increased significantly due to the addition of steel fibers in concrete. Complete replacement of traditional shear reinforcement with steel fibers also increased the ductility and energy dissipation capacity of the PC I-beams.

고강도 재료가 사용된 철근콘크리트 부재의 전단파괴모드 (Shear Failure Modes of Reinforced Concrete Members with High-Strength Materials)

  • 고강도 재료(고강도 콘크리트, 고강도 철근)가 사용된 철근콘크리트 부재의 전단파괴모드는 보통강도 재료를 사용한 부재의 전단파괴모드와 상이한 결과를 나타낼 수 있다. 고강도 재료가 사용될 경우에 구조설계기준식에서 요구하는 전단보강철근이 먼저 항복한 후에 콘크리트가 압축파괴하는 것과는 다르게, 철근이 항복하기 이전에 콘크리트가 압축파괴할 수 있다. 이 논문에서는 고강도 재료가 사용된 철근콘크리트 부재의 최대철근비를 균형파괴시의 재료의 응력 및 변형률 상태를 이용하여 계산하였다. 제안식에서 최대철근비는 콘크리트의 압축강도와 전단보강철근의 상호관계에 의하여 변화하였다. 제안식은 97개의 철근콘크리트 부재에 대한 실험결과와 비교되었다. 실험결과 및 계산결과는 철근콘크리트 부재의 파괴모드가 전단보강철근의 양과 콘크리트의 압축강도와 밀접한 관계가 있음을 나타내었다.

Thickness of shear flow path in RC beams at maximum torsional strength

  • The current design equations for predicting the torsional capacity of RC members underestimate the torsional strength of under-reinforced members and overestimate the torsional strength of over-reinforced members. This is because the design equations consider only the yield strength of torsional reinforcement and the cross-sectional properties of members in determining the torsional capacity. This paper presents an analytical model to predict the thickness of shear flow path in RC beams subjected to pure torsion. The analytical model assumes that torsional reinforcement resists torsional moment with a sufficient deformation capacity until concrete fails by crushing. The ACI 318 code is modified by applying analytical results from the proposed model such as the average stress of torsional reinforcement and the effective gross area enclosed by the shear flow path. Comparison of the calculated and observed torsional strengths of existing 129 test beams showed good agreement. Two design variables related to the compressive strength of concrete in the proposed model are approximated for design application. The accuracy of the ACI 318 code for the over-reinforced test beams improved somewhat with the use of the approximations for the average stresses of reinforcements and the effective gross area enclosed by the shear flow path.

Numerical experimentation for the optimal design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings

  • This paper shows an optimal design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings based on a criterion of minimum cost. The classical design method for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings is: First, a dimension is proposed that should comply with the allowable stresses (Minimum stress should be equal or greater than zero, and maximum stress must be equal or less than the allowable capacity withstand by the soil); subsequently, the effective depth is obtained due to the maximum moment and this effective depth is checked against the bending shear and the punching shear until, it complies with these conditions, and then the steel reinforcement is obtained, but this is not guaranteed that obtained cost is a minimum cost. A numerical experimentation shows the model capability to estimate the minimum cost design of the materials used for a rectangular combined footing that supports two columns under an axial load and moments in two directions at each column in accordance to the building code requirements for structural concrete and commentary (ACI 318S-14). Numerical experimentation is developed by modifying the values of the rectangular combined footing to from "d" (Effective depth), "b" (Short dimension), "a" (Greater dimension), "${\rho}_{P1}$" (Ratio of reinforcement steel under column 1), "${\rho}_{P2}$" (Ratio of reinforcement steel under column 2), "${\rho}_{yLB}$" (Ratio of longitudinal reinforcement steel in the bottom), "${\rho}_{yLT}$" (Ratio of longitudinal reinforcement steel at the top). Results show that the optimal design is more economical and more precise with respect to the classical design. Therefore, the optimal design presented in this paper should be used to obtain the minimum cost design for reinforced concrete rectangular combined footings.

휨강성을 고려한 수정 FHWA 쏘일네일 설계법 제안 (Modified FHWA Design Method Considering Bending Stiffness of Soil Nail)

  • Soil nailing is used as a method of slope stabilization and excavation support. The design method of soil nail are based on experience or assumption of interaction between soil and reinforcement. Most design methods simply considers the tension of reinforcement for analysis of slope stabilization. Soil nails interact with soils under combined loading of shear and tension. Jewell & Pedley(1990) suggested a design equation of shear force with bending stiffness and discussed that the magnitude of the maximum shear force is small in comparison with the maximum axal force. However, they have used a very conservative limiting bearing stress on nails. This paper discusses that the shear strength of soil nails should not be disregarded with proper bearing stresses on nails. The modified FHWA design method was proposed by considering shear forces on nails with bending stiffness.

Crack-controlled design methods of RC beams for ensuring serviceability and reparability

  • For the design of flexural and shear crack control for reinforced concrete (RC) beams related to serviceability and reparability ensuring, eight simply-supported normal-strength reinforced concrete (NSRC) beam specimens are tested and the existing high-strength reinforced concrete (HSRC) experimental data are included in the investigation of this work. According to the investigation results of flexural and shear cracks, this works modifies the existing design formulas to determine the spacing of the tensile reinforcement for the flexural crack control of a HSRC/NSRC beam design. Additionally, for a specified shear crack width of 0.4 mm, the allowable stresses of the shear reinforcement are also identified. For the serviceability and reparability ensuring of HSRC/NSRC beams, this works proposes the relationship curves between the maximum flexural width and allowable stress of the tensile reinforcement, and the relationship curves between the shear crack width and allowable shear force that can be used to do the crack width control directly.

직사각형 NRC 보의 전단성능 평가 (Evaluation of Shear Performance of Rectangular NRC Beam)

  • NRC (New paradigm Reinforced Concrete) 보는 강판거푸집과 함께 주보강재로 사용되는 주앵글에 기본 전단보강재로 사용되는 전단앵글을 트러스 구조형태로 용접조립한 후, 현장에서 추가적인 주 철근과 전단보강근이 배근된다. 본 연구에서는 NRC 보의 전단보강재 종류(전단앵글, 경사전단보강근, U형 덮개철근)에 따른 전단실험을 통하여 NRC 보의 전단성능평가를 실시하였다. 실험결과, 실험체별 초기균열이 발생되기전 초기강성은 유사하게 나타났으며, 모든 실험체는 전단파괴되었다. 실험체의 전단보강재가 최대내력시 항복거동하였고, 전단보강재의 보강량 증가에 따라 실험전단내력이 증가하였다. 이를 볼 때 NRC 전단보강재가 전단강도 기여분에 해당하는 전단성능을 발휘하는 것으로 판단된다. 콘크리트구조기준(KDS 14 20 22)에 의한 이론내력을 산정한 결과, 전단보강재가 배근된 NRC 보 실험체들의 실험전단내력이 이론전단내력에 비하여 37~146% 크게 나타나, 이론내력식이 NRC 실험체 상세에 대하여 안전측으로 평가하였다.
