흙의 다짐과 Consistency에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Compaction and Consistency of Soil)

  • In the construction of earth dam, embankment and highway by filling, a compaction contributes to increasing the density of soil by applying pressure. The effect of compaction depends on various factors such as soil type, moisture content, gradation, consistency, and compaction energy. In this study, the correlations amone maximum dry density, moisture content, dry density, and moisture content are analyzed. Some results obtained in this study are summarizep as follows. 1. The maximum dry density sinoreases with increased of optimum moisture content and the correlations of them can be represented by; ${\gamma}$dmx=a-b(W0) 2. Maximum dry density and liquid limit show negative linear correlation and can be represented by; ${\gamma}$dmx=a-b(LL). 3. Optimum moisture content and liquid limit, plastic limit show positive linear correlation and can be represented by the following equation, W0=a+b(LL) W0=a+b(PL). 4. Liquid limit and plastic limit show positive linear correlation, and can be represented by the following equation, LL=a+b(PL).

Low Cost High Power Density Photovoltaic Power Conditioning System with an Energy Storage System

  • A new low cost high power density photovoltaic power conditioning system (PV PCS) with an energy storage system is proposed in this paper. Its high power density and cost effectiveness can be achieved through the unification of the maximum power point tracker and the battery charger/discharger. Despite the reduced power stage, the proposed system can achieve the same performance in terms of maximum power point tracking and battery charging/discharging as the conventional system. When a utility power failure happens, the proposed system cannot perform maximum power point tracking at the UPS mode. However, the predetermined battery voltage near the maximum power point of the PV array can effectively generate a reasonable PV power even at the UPS mode. Therefore, it features a simpler structure, less mass, lower cost, and fewer devices. Finally, to confirm the operation, validity, and features of the proposed system, a theoretical analysis and experimental results from a single phase AC 220Vrms/1.5kW prototype are presented.

자속밀도 가중치에 의한 자유곡면 자기연마 공구곡률 선정 (Determination of Curvature Radius of Magnetic Tool Using Weighted Magnetic Flux Density in Magnetic Abrasive Polishing)

  • During the magnetic abrasive polishing of a curved surface, the improvement in surface roughness varies with the maximum value and distribution of magnetic flux density. Thus, in this study, the magnetic flux density on the curved surface was simulated according to curvature radii of magnetic tool. As a result of the simulation, the 14.5mm of the magnetic tool had a higher maximum magnetic flux density and it showed a large weighted magnetic flux density. The weighted magnetic flux density means the highest value for the magnetic flux density in the curvature of the magnetic tool. From the experimental verification, the better improvement in surface roughness was observed on wider area at the 14.5mm radius of the magnetic tool than other radii.

A Study on Correlations for Void Ratio, Coefficient of Uniformity and Coefficient of Curvature for Determination of Relative Density for Sands

  • Determination of geotechnical characteristics of soil is either to use the field samples to measure the characteristics of soil through laboratory test or measuring the characteristics directly in the field. Field test can be derived similar value by considering characteristics of site and laboratory test can be confirmed the characteristic of soil by testing with field samples. This article describes relative density as the measure of compaction for cohesionless soils and presents several simple and mathematical relationships to help engineers estimate needed parameters for relative density calculations. The main purpose of this research is to investigate possible correlations between coefficient of uniformity, coefficient of curvature, maximum and minimum void ratio, mean grain size. Results show a linear relationship between the minimum and maximum void ratios and a power function relationship between coefficient of uniformity and the limiting void ratios. Void ratio range, which is the difference between the maximum and minimum void ratios, appeared to be log normally distributed but showed no simple mathematical fit to the data. these results were shown to help engineers estimate needed parameters for relative density calculations.

  • Anode electrode is one of the most important factors in microbial fuel cell (MFC). This study was conducted to investigate the effects of mediator as methylene blue (MB) and electrode surface area on the power density of MFC with sponge and carbon nano tube (CNT) electrode (SC). The SC electrode with MB (MC) showed the maximum power density increased from 74.0 $mW/m^2$ to 143.1 $mW/m^2$. The grid shaped sponge and CNT (GSC) electrode showed the maximum power density of 209.2 $mW/m^2$ due to the increase of surface area from 88.0 to 152.0 $cm^2$. The GSC electrode with MB (GMC) revealed the maximum power density of 384.9 $mW/m^2$ which was 5.2 times higher than that obtained from the MFC with SC. Therefore MB and increase of surface area led to enhance the performance of microbial fuel cell such as power density.

  • Electrochemical redox capacity of a microbial fuel cell (MFC) electrode is an important factor in the power density. This study was conducted to investigate the redox capacity of surface modified anode and cathode electrodes by measuring their conductivities. An anode electrode was modified with nitric acid and a cathode electrode was modified with heat treatment. The anode electrode modified with 20 % of the nitric acid concentration showed the highest conductivity of $6.2{\mu}S/cm/g$ and the maximum power density of $306.0mW/m^2$ when used in a MFC. The cathode electrode modified at $472^{\circ}C$ for 18 min showed the highest conductivity of $5.2{\mu}S/cm/g$ and the maximum power density of $276.20mW/m^2$ when used in a MFC. On the other hand, an MFC using both the electrodes showed the highest maximum power density of $408.2mW/m^2$. Meanwhile, a control MFC without modified electrodes generated very small voltage (0.014 mV), so the power density could not be measured.

흙의 다짐에 있어서 최대건조밀도(最大乾燥密度)와 최적함수비(最適含水比)의 추정(推定)에 대(對)하여 (A Study on the Prediction of Maximum Dry Density and Optimum Moisture Content in Soil Compaction)

  • 최대습윤밀도(最大濕潤密度)로서 함수비시험(含水比試驗)을 하지 않고 직접최적합수비(直接最適合水比)와 최대건록밀도(最大乾綠密度)를 추정(推定)하는 관계식(關係式)을 구(求)하기 위(爲)하여 전국(全國)에서 최근(最近)에 공사(工事)를 실시(實施)하였거나 또는 공사중(工事中)에 있는 157개(個) 지구(地區)의 다짐시험(試驗) 결과(結果)를 분석(分析)하여 다음과 같은 결론(結論)을 얻었다. 최대건조밀도(最大乾燥密度)와 최적합수비(最適合水比)의 사이에는 ${\gamma}=0.9636$의 높은 상관성(相關性)을 나타냈고 ${\gamma}_{dmax.}={\frac{1}{0.4193+0.00937W_{opt.}}$의 관계식(關係式)을 얻었다. 최적합수비(最適合水比)에 대응(對應)하는 습윤밀도(濕潤密度)와 최적합수비(最適合水比)는 $W_{opt.}={\frac{1-0.4193{\gamma}_{tmax.}}{0.937_{\gamma}_{tmax.}-0.01}$의 관계식(關係式)을 얻었고 최대습윤밀도(最大濕潤密度)(${\gamma}_{tmax}$)로 추정(推定)한 최적합수비(最適合水比)는 실측치(實測値)와 큰 차이(差異)가 없었다. 최대습윤밀도(最大濕潤密度)로 추정(推定)한 함수비(含水比)에 의하여 최대건조밀도(最大乾燥密度)를 추정(推定)한 결과실측치(結果實測値)와의 오차(誤差)는 ${\pm}5%$내(內)에 속했다. 최대건조밀도(最大乾燥密度)와 공극비(空隙比)는 ${\gamma}=0.9706$의 높은 상관성(相關性)이 인정(認定)되고 ${\gamma}_{dmax.}={\frac{1}{0.3938+0.3426e}}$의 관계식(關係式)을 얻었다.

바나듐계 산화-환원 유동 전지의 최대 방전전류와 유량의 상관성에 대한 실험적 연구 (Discharged Maximum Current Density of Vanadium Redox Flow Battery with Increased Electrolyte Flow Rate)

  • 바나듐 전해질 산화-환원 흐름전지(vanadium redox flow batteries, VRFBs)는 간헐적 에너지 저장 시스템의 에너지 저장장치로 사용된다. VRFBs는 재료 및 동작조건에 따라 성능의 차이를 보이며, 각 성능특성에 따른 VRFBs개발이 요구된다. 본 연구에 사용된 단위셀은 반응면적 $25cm^2$이며, 전해액은 0.6의 충전상태를 나타낸다. 방전전류밀도를 0에서 $520mA/cm^2$ 까지 변화시키면서 동시에 전해질 유량도 5mL/min에서 60mL/min까지 변화시켰다. 동일한 입구 전해액 상태에 따른 방전 성능 평가를 위해 4개의 탱크를 사용한 비순환 시스템을 구축하였다. 본 논문은 유량 및 전류밀도의 변화에 대한 단자전압을 측정하였으며, $25cm^2$ 반응면적을 가지는 바나듐계 산화-환원 유동전지 시스템의 최대전류밀도에 대한 실험식을 도출하였다.

Soft X-ray분석(分析)에 의한 대기오염지역(大氣汚染地域)에서 자란 해송(Pinus thunbergii)의 연륜(年輪)의 특징(特徵) (Characteristics of Annual Rings of Pinus thunbergii Grown in the Air-polluted Area by Soft X-ray Analysis)

  • Soft X-ray에 의한 연륜밀도해석법(年輪密度解析法)으로 대기오염지역(大氣汚染地域)에서 자란 해송(Pinus thunbergii) 성목(成木)의 연륜(年輪)에 대한 특징(特徵)을 알아본 결과, 연륜폭(年輪幅)과 대기밀도(最大密度), 최대밀도(最大密度)와 최소밀도(最小密度)의 차(差)(이하DD)는 공장이 가동된 이후 오염원(汚染源)의 주변지역에서는 감소하는 경향을 나타내었으며 특히 오염원(汚染源)에서 가장 가까운 지역(地域)에서 가장 뚜렷히 감소하고 있었고 추재율(秋材率)과 최소밀도(最小密度)는 오염(汚染)으로 인한 감소와 증가의 뚜렷한 특징을 나타내지 않았다. 또한 연륜폭(年輪幅) 및 최대밀도(最大密度), DD는 공장가동직후 5년동안보다도 5년이후부터 더욱 감소되고 있었으며 감소율(減少率) 역시 공장가동 5년이후 부터 증가되었고 연륜폭(年輪幅)의 감소율(減少率)이 가장 컸다. 이와같이 본조사를 통하여 본 해송의 연륜폭(年輪幅) 및 최대밀도(最大密度), DD는 오염으로 인한 생장저해(生長沮害)의 지표(指標)로서 이용할 수 있다고 추측되었다.

EFFECT OF PARTITION AND SPECIES DIFFUSIVITY ON DOUBLE DIFFUSIVE CONVECTION OF WATER NEAR DENSITY MAXIMUM

  • The double diffusive convection of cold water in the vicinity of its density maximum in a rectangular partitioned enclosure of aspect ratio 5 with isothermal side walls and insulated top and bottom is studied numerically. A thin partition is attached to the hot wall. The species diffusivity of the fluid is assumed to vary linearly with concentration. The governing equations are solved by finite difference scheme. The effects of position and height of the partition, variable species diffusivity and enclosure width are analyzed for various hot wall temperatures. It has been found that adding partition on the hot wall reduces the heat transfer. The density inversion of the water has a great influence on the natural convection. When increasing species diffusivity parameter heat and mass transfer rate is decreased.
