Distributed massive MIMO systems, which have high bandwidth efficiency and can accommodate a tremendous amount of traffic using algorithms such as zero-forcing beam forming (ZFBF), may be deployed in large public venues with the antennas mounted under-floor. In this case the channel gain matrix H can be modeled as a multi-banded matrix, in which off-diagonal entries decay both exponentially due to heavy human penetration loss and polynomially due to free space propagation loss. To enable practical implementation of such systems, we present a multi-banded matrix inversion algorithm that substantially reduces the complexity of ZFBF by keeping the most significant entries in H and the precoding matrix W. We introduce a parameter p to control the sparsity of H and W and thus achieve the tradeoff between the computational complexity and the system throughput. The proposed algorithm includes dense and sparse precoding versions, providing quadratic and linear complexity, respectively, relative to the number of antennas. We present analysis and numerical evaluations to show that the signal-to-interference ratio (SIR) increases linearly with p in dense precoding. In sparse precoding, we demonstrate the necessity of using directional antennas by both analysis and simulations. When the directional antenna gain increases, the resulting SIR increment in sparse precoding increases linearly with p, while the SIR of dense precoding is much less sensitive to changes in p.
In this paper we propose an algorithm for generating role-performer bipartite matrix for analyzing BPM-based human resource affiliations. Firstly, the proposed algorithm conducts the extraction of role-performer affiliation relationships from ICN(Infromation Contorl Net) based business process models. Then, the role-performer bipartite matrix is constructed in the final step of the algorithm. Conclusively, the bipartite matrix generated through the proposed algorithm ought to be used as the fundamental data structure for discovering the role-performer affiliation networking knowledge, and by using a variety of social network analysis techniques it enables us to acquire valuable analysis results about BPM-based human resource affiliations.

In the present study, the fiber and matrix failure of composite laminates under arbitrary biaxial stresses were evaluated based on separate mode criteria such as Hasnin and Puck theories. There is a limitation to predict the fiber-dominant and/or matrix-dominant failures under arbitrary stress states using limit criteria (maximum stress and maximum strain theories) and interactive criteria (Tsai-Hill and Tsai-Wu theories). There is little literature for failure analysis of ships and offshore composite structures considering advanced failure theories such as Hashin and Puck theories. Furthermore, there is not enough practical commercial finite element analysis (FEA) code which is basically adopted the separate mode criteria. Hence, in the present study, the user-defined subroutine of commercial FEA code ABAQUS for evaluation of fiber and matrix failures of composite structures was developed based on Hashin and Puck failure criteria. And then, the proposed subroutine was validated by comparing with a series of experimental results of carbon- and glass-implemented composite laminates to guarantee the reliability and usefulness of the developed method.

The structure of A matrix of one machine connected to the infinite bus is described for a full model. The A matrix can be partitioned to submatrices which depend on the initial operating point and do not depend on it. When the dynamic properties for several different operating points are desired, those submatrices can be obtained through simple column operation. Furthermore, the elements of A matrix can be directly calculated from the manufacturer's data. RMS quantities of the state variables for the initial operating point are used. This approach can save the labor for calculating the elements of A matrix for the dynamic stability analysis.
Repeated outcomes from the same subjects are referred to as longitudinal data. Analysis of the data requires different methods unlike cross-sectional data analysis. It is important to model the covariance matrix because the correlation between the repeated outcomes must be considered when estimating the effects of covariates on the mean response. However, the modeling of the covariance matrix is tricky because there are many parameters to be estimated, and the estimated covariance matrix should be positive definite. In this paper, we consider analysis of multivariate longitudinal data via two modeling methodologies for the covariance matrix for multivariate longitudinal data. Both methods describe serial correlations of multivariate longitudinal outcomes using a modified Cholesky decomposition. However, the two methods consider different decompositions to explain the correlation between simultaneous responses. The first method uses enhanced linear covariance models so that the covariance matrix satisfies a positive definiteness condition; in addition, and principal component analysis and maximization-minimization algorithm (MM algorithm) were used to estimate model parameters. The second method considers variance-correlation decomposition and hypersphere decomposition to model covariance matrix. Simulations are used to compare the performance of the two methodologies.

In conventional MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry, analyte molecules are known to be ionized by mixing with organic matrix molecules. As the organic matrix molecules are made into small fragments, they generate unreproducible mass peaks such that MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry is nearly impossible in the low mass-to-charge (m/z) range (< 1000). Additionally, the dried sample mixed with matrix were made as inhomogeneous crystal on metal plate. When the laser radiation was made on the sample crystal, the amount of generated sample ion was observed to be quite different according to the radiation point. Therefore, the quantitative analysis was very difficult even for the sample spots at the same concentration for the conventional MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry. In this work, we present laser desorption/ionization (LDI) mass spectrometry based on solid-matrices for the quantitative analysis of small molecules in the low m/z range by using MALDI-TOF mass spectrometry: (1) Carbon based nanostructures; (2) Semiconductor based nanomaterials; (3) Metal based nanostructures.

FEM analysis is essential to shorten the development time and reduce the cost for developing high-performance machine tools. Mount joint parts play important role to ensure static and dynamic stability of machine tools. This paper suggests a computational modeling of mount joint part of machine tools. MATRIX27 element of ANSYS is adopted to model mount joint parts. MATRIX27 allows the definition of stiffness and damping matrices in matrix form. The matrix is assumed to relate two nodes, each with six degrees of freedom per node. Stiffness and damping values of commercial mount products are measured to build a database for FEM analysis. Jack mounts with rubber pad are exemplified in this paper. The database extracted from the experiments is also used to estimate of stiffness and damping of untested mounts. FEM analysis of machine tools system with the suggested mount computational model is performed. Static and dynamic results prove the feasibility of the suggested mount model.
Satellite operating agencies are constantly monitoring conjunctions between satellites and space objects. Two line element (TLE) data, published by the Joint Space Operations Center of the United States Strategic Command, are available as raw data for a preliminary analysis of initial conjunction with a space object without any orbital information. However, there exist several sorts of uncertainties in the TLE data. In this paper, we suggest and analyze a method for estimating the uncertainties in the TLE data through mean, standard deviation of state vector residuals and covariance matrix. Also the estimation results are compared with actual results of orbit determination to validate the estimation method. Characteristics of the state vector residuals depending on the orbital elements are examined by applying the analysis to several satellites in various orbits. Main source of difference between the covariance matrices are also analyzed by comparing the matrices. Particularly, for the Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite-2, we examine the characteristics of the residual variation of state vector and covariance matrix depending on the orbital elements. It is confirmed that a realistic consideration on the space situation of space objects is possible using information from the analysis of mean, standard deviation of the state vector residuals of TLE and covariance matrix.
Background: LIGHT (TNFSF14) is a member of tumor necrosis factor superfamily and is the ligand for TR2 (TNFRSF14/HVEM). LIGHT is known to have proinflammatory roles in atherosclerosis. Methods: To find out the expression pattern of LIGHT in atherosclerotic plaques, immunohistochemical analysis was performed on human carotid atherosclerotic plaque specimens. LIGHT induced atherogenic events using human monocytic cell line THP-1 were also investigated. Results: Immunohistochemical analysis revealed expression of LIGHT and TR2 in foam cell rich regions in the atherosclerotic plaques. Double immunohistochemical analysis further confirmed the expression of LIGHT in foam cells. Stimulation of THP-1 cells, which express TR2, with either recombinant LIGHT or immobilized anti-TR2 monoclonal antibody induced interleukin-8 and matrix metalloproteinase(MMP)-9. Electrophoretic mobility shift assay demonstrated that LIGHT induces nuclear localization of transcription factor, nuclear factor $(NF)-{\kappa}B$. LIGHT induced activation of MMP-9 is mediated by $NF-{\kappa}B$, since treatment of THP-1 cells with the $NF-{\kappa}B$ inhibitor PDTC (pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate) completely blocked the activation of MMP-9. Conclusion: These data indicate that LIGHT is expressed in foam cells in atherosclerotic plaques and is involved in atherogenesis through activation of pro-atherogenic cytokine IL-8 and destabilization of plaque by inducing matrix degrading enzyme.
A novel analytic solution has been derived for the bird-cage receiver coil of a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system, which is widely used in 3-dimensional medical imaging, by transforming the coil into an equivalent circuit model by using a transmission matrix-based circuit analysis. The bird-cage coil composed of N legs is divided into a cell for which input impedance is to be analyzed and the remaining N-1 cells, and then a transmission matrix corresponding to the N-1 cells is converted into a circuit to transform the 3-dimensional bird-cage coil into the 2-dimensional equivalent circuit model, which is suitable to derive the analytic solution for the input impedance. The proposed method derives directly the analytic solution for the input impedance at an arbitrary point of the coil unlike the conventional analytic solution of a bird-cage coil, so that it can be used not only for resonance frequency calculations but also for various coil characteristics analyses. Since the analytic solution agreed well with the results of computational simulations, it can be useful for the impedance matching of a coil and the analysis and the design of a multi-tune bird-cage coil.
