Most of the studies of mathematics so far have found positive changes in the effectiveness of the academic achievements of academic achievement, as well as positive changes in the effectiveness of academic achievement or attitudes or attitudes towards mathematics. The purpose of this study was to investigate the achievement criteria for the use of the teaching aids and to present the teaching aids and the methods for teaching the learning contents appropriate to the achievement standards. Specifically, it finds the achievement standard suitable for the learning contents instruction course of the textbooks of the elementary school 1st and 2nd graders, finds the available diocese in the standard diocese for the math class, and investigates the diocese in use in the present textbook.
We investigated the relationship of brain dominance with mathematics and science achievement. The participants were 131 middle school students (male: 74, female: 57). It was found that the above average group in mathematics and science achievement had the highest frequency with left lower brain (LLB) (mathematics: 33.8%, science: 35.0%), whereas the below average group in mathematics and science achievement had the highest frequency with right lower brain (RLB) (mathematics: 38.7%, science: 36.1%). The LLB score showed a significant difference between the above average group and the below average group in science (p<.05). In the correlational analysis, the LLB scores had the highest correlation coefficients (mathematics: r=.28, science: r=.26). The LUB scores had the second highest correlation coefficients (mathematics: r=.18, science: r=.24). These results suggest that LLB and LUB are related to mathematics and science achievement. Therefore, we insist that the assessment of mathematics and science achievement should consider brain dominance.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the differences of the mathematics anxiety and mathematical achievement of high school students according to gender and grade, and to find out which mathematics anxiety causes have more influence on mathematical achievement and how much it is. The subjects of this study consist of 459 students selected for a class of unit, in high schools located in Seoul, Korea. Huh(1996)'s Mathematics Anxiety Scale was used. The collected data were analyzed by using the 24.0 SPSS program. The data were also tested by using the t-test, correlation and multiple regression. The major results of this study were as follows: Firstly, there was no difference in mathematics score according to gender, but mathematics anxiety was higher in girl students. Mathematics score and mathematics anxiety have significantly related each other. Boy students' mathematics scores were significantly explained by interest, Mathematical Achievement factor, and mathematical confidence factor. For girl students, mathematics achievement factor, interest were the significant predictors. Secondly, mathematical anxiety and mathematics scores were correlated in the first and third grades, and the variables that predict mathematics scores significantly in all grades were interest.
The purpose of this research is to draw some implications for reducing gender differences in educational achievement of mathematics by inquiring those in mathematics-related attitudes. For this purpose, this article analyzed the gender difference in mathematics-related attitudes of the elementary, middle, and high school students. Also, mathematics-related attitudes according to achievement levels was analyzed. The findings of this study are as follows. Firstly, in the scores on mathematics-related attitudes, male students were significantly higher than those of female students. Secondly, in the evaluation of the subordinate factors of mathematics-related attitudes, gender differences were shown a little bit larger in the areas of interest and self confidence than in the area of perception of mathematics value regardless of grades. Thirdly, in all schools, the higher achievement level is, the higher the score of mathematics-related attitudes is. Lastly, gender differences on mathematics-related attitudes in advanced level group is bigger than those in other level groups.

In this study, we analyzed whether 2015 revised elementary school mathematics curriculum 's standards statements reflect the direction of 2015 revised curriculum. For the objectivity of analysis, 128 achievement standards statements were analyzed based on content - centered statements, activity - centered statements, and performance - centered statements by Seo Young - jin 's (2013). As a result of the analysis, it can be seen that the 2015 revision elementary mathematics curriculum achievement standards statements do not contain enough information to expand the mathematical competence of students. To complement this, the achievement standards statements should include more elements than 'content + function', and other criteria should be developed to clearly communicate the meaning of the achievement standards statements. And it is necessary to supplement the expression of 'function' in the achievement standards in order to improve the expression of the elementary school mathematics curriculum achievement standards statements.

The objective of this study is to analyze the effects 6th grade mathematics lessons applying story making have on the mathematics achievement and attitude toward mathematics. For this study, using two examination devices for measuring mathematical attitudes and mathematics learning achievement, a pre-test and post-test were conducted. In the pre-test, it was found that the two groups are identical groups. The post-test was used for verifying the research problems and the results of post-test were analyzed using t-test. The findings of this study are below. First, lessons applying story making influenced the mathematics achievement of children. This implies that lessons applying story making are more effective for improving a mathematics achievement than a general teaching and learning method. Also, when carrying out the t-test of pre-test and post-test results of learning achievement in experimental groups, there was a significant change as well. It is therefore supposed that lessons applying story making have positive effect on the mathematics achievement of children. Second, lessons applying story making influenced the mathematical attitudes of children. This implies that the lessons are more effective for improving mathematical attitude than a general teaching and learning method. Also, when carrying out the t-test of pre-test and post-test results of mathematical attitudes in experimental groups, there was a significant change as well. It is therefore supposed that lessons applying story making have positive effect on mathematical attitudes of children. From the results, it was found that mathematics lessons applying story making can be used to change the mathematics achievement and mathematical attitudes of students positively.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of career identity on learning persistence and academic achievement, and mediating effect of utility value. To examine the effect of mediating role of utility value, we divided utility value into two types, utility value of daily matters and utility value of career. This study was conducted on 228 senior students in high school, to investigate relations among career identity, utility value, learning persistence and academic achievement in mathematics, by using the structural equation model. The results are as follows. First, career identity positively predicted learning persistence in mathematics. Second, career identity positively predicted the utility value of daily matters and career. Third, both type of utility value in mathematics positively predicted learning persistence in mathematics. Fourth, the utility value of daily matters and career, in mathematics subjects, showed differential predictability toward learning persistence and academic achievement. Both type of utility value in mathematics positively predicted learning persistence, but showed differential predictability toward learning academic achievement. Specifically, the utility value of daily matters in the near future did not predict the academic achievement, but the utility value of career in the distant future positively predicted the academic achievement. Fifth, the utility value was found to play a mediating role in the relationship between career identity and learning persistence. Based on the results of this study, implications for mathematics education were discussed.
The purpose of this paper is to investigate the differences of the mathematics anxiety and mathematical achievement of middle school students according to gender and grade, and to find out which mathematics anxiety causes have more influence on mathematical achievement and how much it is. For this purposes, the problem of this study as follows: firstly, are there any differences in the mathematics anxiety and mathematical achievement according to gender and grade? secondly, are there any relationship between mathematics anxiety and mathematical achievement according to gender and grade? lastly, are there any mathematics anxiety predict to mathematical achievement according to gender and grade? The subjects of this study consist of 171(1st graders), 144(2nd graders), 272(3rd graders) students selected for a class of unit, in middle schools located in Seoul, Korea. In this study, for children's mathematics anxiety, Huh(1996)'s Mathematics Anxiety Scale was used. The collected data were analyzed by using the 24.0 SPSS program. The data were also tested by using the t-test, correlation and multiple regression. The major results of this study were as follows: firstly, mathematics anxiety and mathematical achievement have significant differences depending on gender and grade, secondly, mathematics anxiety and mathematical achievement have significantly related each other depending on gender and grade, lastly, the multiple regression analyses demonstrated that sub factors of mathematics anxiety were the significant predictors of mathematical achievement according to gender and grade.
Multicultural students are a rapidly growing population in South Korea. Previous studies from the South Korean mathematics education community have reported low mathematics achievement levels of this population compared to Korean-born students. However, a systematic literature review was hardly employed. This study aims to synthesize the factors that affect the mathematics achievement of multicultural students to provide directions for future research and practical directions. Using an Opportunity-Propensity framework suggested by Byrnes and Miller, this study analyzed twenty-seven peer-reviewed journal articles on this topic. The results showed that the majority of the studies focused on the impact of the opportunity factors such as mathematics curriculum and teachers on mathematics achievements. We suggest that more studies regarding distal factors (e.g., students' prior achievement) and propensity factors (e.g., prerequisite knowledge) are needed.

In this study, we analyzed how the content and achievement criteria of the Geometry domain of Korean elementary school mathematics curriculum have changed. To this end, based on the analysis framework based on the 2015 revised curriculum, the achievement standards for each period were classified into continuous, extinct, and additional types, and their characteristics were examined. In the domain of Geometry, continuous achievement standards accounted for 51% of the total, and there were many achievement standards that remained unchanged in grade and domain. The extinctive achievement standard is 20.4% of the total, and the mathematics contents that were rapidly introduced due to the modernization of mathematics in the 3rd curriculum were eliminated the most from the 4th curriculum, and after the 7th curriculum, With the introduction of staged curriculum and the system of school year group, the contents of learning were either integrated or moved to middle school. The additional achievement standard was 28.6% of the total, and the achievement standard was added the most with the introduction of spatial sensory development in the 7th curriculum. The GAct that the additivel achievement standard is more than the extinction achievement standard in the Geometry domain is the result of the efforts to actively introduce the geometric contents appropriate to the times despite the great flow of curriculum revision of the curriculum reduction. It is hoped that the results of these studies will be used as basic data in the formation of new achievement standards in future curriculum development.
