The increased demand and consumption of coal has intensified problems associated with disposal of solid waste generated in utilization of coal. Major utilization of coal by-products has been in construction-related applications. Since fly ash accounts for the part of the production of utility waste, the majority of scientific investigations have focused on its utilization in a multitude of use, while little attention has been directed to the use of bottom ash. As a consequence of this neglect, a large amount of bottom ash has been stockpiled. However, the need to obtain safe and economical solution for its proper utilization has been more urgent. The study presented herein is designed to ascertain the performance characteristics of bottom ash, as autoclaved lightweight foamed concrete product. The laboratory test results indicated that tobermorite was generated when bottom ash was used as materials for hydro-thermal reaction. According to the analysis of variance, at the fresh state, water ratio affects on flow and slurry density of autoclaved lightweight foamed concrete, but foam ratio influences on slurry density, while, at the hardened state, foam ratio affects on the density of dry and the compressive strength but doesn't affect on flexural and tensile strength. In the results of response surface analysis, to obtain target performance, the most suitable mix condition for lightweight foamed concrete using bottom ash was water ratio of 70$\sim$80% and foaming ratio of 90$\sim$100%.
The purpose of this study is to investigate experimentally the variation factors range having influence on the rheological properties of the combined self-compacting concrete according to materials quality, weighting error and site conditions. Two types cement (blast-furnace slag cement and belite cement), lime stone powder as binder and the optimum mix proportions in the preceded study are selected for this study. Also, variations for sensitivity test are as followings; (1) Concrete temperature 3 cases (2) Surface moisture of sand 5cases (3) Fineness modulus of sand 5cases (4) Specific surface of lime stone powder 3cases (5) Dosage of chemical admixture 5cases. Slump flow ($650{\pm}50mm$), 500 mm reaching time (($7{\pm}3sec$), V-type flowing time ($15{\pm}5sec$) and U-box height (min. 300 mm) are tested for sensitivity. As test results, the variations range for quality control are as followings. (1) Concrete temperature; $10{\sim}20^{\circ}C$(below $30^{\circ}C$) (2) Surface moisture of sand; $base{\pm}0.6%$ (3) Fineness modulus of sand; $2.6{\pm}0.2$ (4) Dosage of chemical admixture; $base{\pm}0.2%$ (5) Specific surface of lime stone powder $6000cm^2/g$. Compared with two types cement including based belite cement (binary type) and based slag cement (ternary type), the combined self-compacting concrete used belite cement type is most stable in the quality control because of high contents for lime stone powder and $C_2S$. It is to propose a control scheme of the combined self-compacting concrete in the actual construction work.
Soil-water characteristic curve, which is called soil retention curve, is required to explore water flows in unsaturated soils, relative permeability of water in multi-phase fluids flow, and change to stiffness and volume of soils. Thus, the understanding of soil-water characteristic curves of soils help us explore the behavior of soils inclduing fluids. Biopolymers are environmental-friendly materials, which can be completely degraded by microbes and have been believed not to affect the nature. Thus, various biopolymers such as deacetylated power, polyethylene oxide, xanthan gum, alginic acid sodium salt, and polyacrylic acid have been studies for the application to soil remediation, soil improvement, and enhanced oil recovery. PAA (polyacrylic acid) is one of biopolymers, which have shown a great effect in enhanced oil recovery as well as soil remediation because of the improvement of water-flood performance by mobility control. The study on soil-water characteristic curves of sandy soils containing PAA (polyacrylic acid) has been conducted through experimentations and theoretical models. The results show that both capillary entry pressure and residual water saturation dramatically increase according to the increased concentration of PAA (polyacrylic acid). Also, soil-water characteristic curves by theoretical models are quite well consistent with the results by experimental studies. Thus, soil-water characteristic curves of sandy soils containing biopolymers such as PAA (polyacrylic acid) can be estimated using fitting parameters for the theoretical model.
Permeable Reactive Barriers (PRB) method is an economical method that does not require any other methods to be operated once it is installed as it controls of groundwater flow in the barrier, which is inserted a reactive material on the way of pollutant. The major dominant element of PRB is a reactive material in the reactive wall, and such factors as purification efficiency and used time based on the chemical and physical features in between the reactant and pollutant. High purification efficiency can be expected when a rational design that is synthetically considered in features of packing density, operation period, and adsorption reactant of pollutant. A column test was conducted for an application test using CFW as its adsorption reactant in order to remove copper($Cu^{2+}$) in the PRB system. The CFW was used for the reactant and selected inflow speed, density and thickness of PRB as its necessary factors for design of PRB. As a result of the experiment, the removal efficiency decreased as operating time of PRB increased and the efficiency linearly increased upon the length. Therefore, it is confirmed that the thickness of reactive materials in PRB system can be designed using the proposed formula considering purification time and density of CFW.

The development of dry etching process for sapphire wafer with plasma has been key issues for the opto-electric devices. The challenges are increasing control and obtaining low plasma induced-damage because an unwanted scattering of radiation is caused by the spatial disorder of pattern and variation of surface roughness. The plasma-induced damages during plasma etching process can be classified as impurity contamination of residual etch products or bonding disruption in lattice due to charged particle bombardment. Therefor, fine pattern technology with low damaged etching process and high etch rate are urgently needed. Until now, there are a lot of reports on the etching of sapphire wafer with using $Cl_2$/Ar, $BCl_3$/Ar, HBr/Ar and so on [1]. However, the etch behavior of sapphire wafer have investigated with variation of only one parameter while other parameters are fixed. In this study, we investigated the effect of pressure and other parameters on the etch rate and the selectivity. We selected $BCl_3$ as an etch ant because $BCl_3$ plasmas are widely used in etching process of oxide materials. In plasma, the $BCl_3$ molecule can be dissociated into B radical, $B^+$ ion, Cl radical and $Cl^+$ ion. However, the $BCl_3$ molecule can be dissociated into B radical or $B^+$ ion easier than Cl radical or $Cl^+$ ion. First, we evaluated the etch behaviors of sapphire wafer in $BCl_3$/additive gases (Ar, $N_2,Cl_2$) gases. The behavior of etch rate of sapphire substrate was monitored as a function of additive gas ratio to $BCl_3$ based plasma, total flow rate, r.f. power, d.c. bias under different pressures of 5 mTorr, 10 mTorr, 20 mTorr and 30 mTorr. The etch rates of sapphire wafer, $SiO_2$ and PR were measured with using alpha step surface profiler. In order to understand the changes of radicals, volume density of Cl, B radical and BCl molecule were investigated with optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The chemical states of $Al_2O_3$ thin films were studied with energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) and depth profile anlysis of auger electron spectroscopy (AES). The enhancement of sapphire substrate can be explained by the reactive ion etching mechanism with the competition of the formation of volatile $AlCl_3$, $Al_2Cl_6$ or $BOCl_3$ and the sputter effect by energetic ions.

Variation of soil properties is studied by permeating injection of chemical grouts, such as cement type, water-glass type and acrylamide type, to the same soil samples with different densities. Moreover, injection tests using specially prepared equipments of 1.0 shot system and 1. 5 shot system are attempted to investigate permeating injection effects in highly compacted soil and in the presence of ground water. The main factor which causes the improvement of cut-off effect and shearing strength is the cohesion of soil. The strength in the loose state is fundamentally governed by the membrane cohesion, meanwhile, in the loose state is governed by the structural cohesion. Injection effects under the ground water flow is considerably decreased, and effective gelling ratio of approximate 45~80% is observed by variation of velocity and gel time, besides grading of injection materials has high relation with permeation and traveling length but has little relation with effective gelling ratio. Permeating injection effects, such as gelling scope, gelling strength in highly compaoted soil conditions can be confirmed by penetration resistance diagram and iso-strength curve.
The static and fatigue characteristics of polyurethane foam cored sandwich structures are investigated. Three types of the specimens with the glass fabric faces and the polyurethane foam core are used; non-stitched. stitched, and stiffened sandwich specimen. Especially additional structural reinforcements with the twisted polyester and glass fiber for thickness direction are made to stitched sandwich structure panel to minimize the delamination of structure which is stitched the upper and lower faces through the core and the resin is impregnated Into stitched fiber with the characteristics of low viscosity of resin at resin flow temperature and cured together with during the curing process. Bending strength of stitched specimen which is 50 mm $50{\times}50{\;}mm$ pitched is improved by 50 % as com-pared with non-stitched specimen and stiffened specimen is improved 10 times more than non-stitched structure. After fatigue testing of $10^6$cycles by 20% of ultimate load under monotonic load, the bending fatigue strength of non-stitched specimen is decreased by 27% of monotonic bending strength, 39% for stitched structure and 20% for stiffened specimen. To verify the aging effect of polyurethane form core, Ultrasonic C-scanning equipment is used to detect the damage of skin laminate alone after fatigue test. From results of UT C-scan images, there is no defect that can be damaged occurred during fatigue test. It is concluded that the decrease of bending strength for foam cored sandwich specimen is caused by the decrease of stiffness due to the aging of polyurethane foam core during fatigue cycles.

This study was performed to determine effects of dietary inclusion of various concentrations and sources of sea tangle Laminaria japonica on growth, body composition and plasma chemistry of juvenile black porgy Acanthopagrus schlegeli. Juvenile fish (N=810; average mass=8.9 g) were distributed among twenty-seven 200 L flow-through tanks (30 fish per tank). Nine experimental diets were prepared: control (Con) without additives; sea tangle powder at 0.1%, 0.5%, 1%, 2%, 3% and 5%, (P-0.1, P-0.5, P-1, P-3 and P-5 diets, respectively); and fresh sea tangle (F-1); and 1% sea tangle extract (E-1). Each powdered additive was substituted for an eqaul amount of wheat flour, and the extract was substituted for an equal amount of water in the respective experiemtnal diets. Each diet was fed to triplicate groups of fish. Weight gain and feed conversion ratio were not affected by the experimental diets. Feed consumption by fish fed the P-1 diet was higher than that of fish fed the P-3 and P-5 diets. Moisture, crude protein, crude lipid, whole-body ash content (excluding the liver), liver moisture, and crude protein and lipid contents of fish were not affected by the experimental diets. None of the fish plasma criteria were affected by the experimental diets, with the exception of plasma glucose. In conclusion, dietary inclusion of various concentrations and sources of sea tangle did not significantly affect the growth, feed efficiency, body composition or plasma chemistry of juvenile black porgy.
Plant factory can control artificially the environments for crop cultivation, so they can produce high quality agricultural products all year round. This study was carried to select suitable kohlrabi cultivar for hydroponics in a closed-type plant factory system. We used three cultivars of red kohlrabi, 'Asac kohl', 'Kolibri', and 'Purple king' as plant materials. The artificial light source was LED light, light intensity and photoperiod were $249{\mu}mol{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}s^{-1}$ and 12/12 hours (day/night period), respectively. Hydroponic cultivation type was used circulating deep flow technique. At 43 days after transplanting, fresh weight of whole plant and tuber and leaf area were not significantly different among cultivars. Shoot dry weight and tuber dry weight were highest in 'Asac kohl' cultivar, and number of leaves was highest in 'Purple king' cultivar. Sugar content and yield were highest in 'Asac kohl' cultivar. Considering the growth and marketable yields, 'Asac kohl' was the optimal kohlrabi cultivar for hydroponic cultivation in a closed-type plant factory system.

Purpose : Intramedullary spinal lesions in the conus medullaris (CM), including tumors and vascular lesion, are rarely reported. We reported various MR features of intramedullary spinal cord lesions involving the CM including ependymoma, hemangioblastomas, dermoid cyst, ventriculus terminalis and spinal AVF and tried to discuss them for differential diagnosis. Materials and Methods: Six patients (male: female = 4:2, mean age = 44.3 year old) were enrolled from the clinical database of our institute from 2004 to 2010 and their radiological images and clinical symptoms were reviewed retrospectively. All patients had taken initial and postoperative MRI with contrast enhancement using gadopentate dimeglumine (Gd-DTPA). These images were analyzed by tumor size, location, signal intensity relative to the spinal cord, vascular flow voids, syrinx or cyst, edema and enhancement pattern. Results: Contrast enhancement was seen in all intramedullary masses. An eccentric enhancing nodule was noted in two hemangioblastomas and unusual peripheral rim enhancement with septation was seen in ventriculus terminalis. Patchy enhancement of the CM was observed in spinal arteriovenous fistula (AVF). Extensive cord edema adjacent to the intramedullary lesions was seen in four cases and syrinx was noted in three cases. Vascular signal voids were found in two hemangioblastomas and one spinal AVF. Conclusion: In evaluation of intramedullary spinal lesions in the CM, it is necessary to consider these unusual MR findings and discriminate various pathologies with prudence and caution.
