An analysis on the development processes of mathematics and the results by dialectical materialism (수학의 발달과정과 그 결과에 대한 변증법적 유물론에 의한 분석)

  • Mathematics education is accomplished by systems such as mathematical curriculum and tools such as a textbook which reflects such systems. Human beings make such systems and tools. Therefore, a viewpoint of mathematics of those who make them is an important factor. The view point of mathematics is formed during doing and learning mathematics, but the already formed viewpoint of mathematics affects doing and teaching mathematics. Hence, it will be a factor which affects basically that those who employ themselves on mathematics education have a certain viewpoint of mathematics. This article presents dialectical materialistic viewpoint as the viewpoint of mathematics which affects fundamentally on mathematical teaching-learning practice. The dialectical materialism is carried through the process and result of mathematics development. This shows that mathematical knowledge is objective. Mathematical knowledge has developed according to three basic rules of dialectical materialism i.e. the transformation of quantity into quality, the unification of antagonistic objects, and the negation of negation. This viewpoint of mathematics should offer the viewpoint of mathematics education which is different from the view point of absolutism, relativism or formal logic. In this article I considered mathematics separating standpoint of mathematics into materialistic viewpoint and dialectical viewpoint. 1 did so for the convenience of analysis, but you will be able to look at the unified viewpoint of dialectical materialism. 1 will make mention of teaching-learning method on another occasion.

A Christian Approach to the North Korean Residents of Materialism: Centered on Paul's Athenian contact (유물론적 사고의 북한주민을 향한 기독교적 접근: 바울의 아테네인 접촉을 중심으로)

  • South Korea and North Korea, which have been separated for 70 years, are getting closer and closer. This is very good news for Christians in South Korea who have long wanted to contact with the North Koreans. But it is not easy for Christianity to find contact points for North Koreans who have lived in a society that does not accept religion. First of all, it is necessary to grasp their ideological background, to find similarities with the message of Christianity, to search the Bible for cases of contact with Christianity in similar situations, and to appropriately contextualize them according to the present situation of North and South Korea. The ideological background of the North Korean people is the materialism which is the basic philosophy of communism, and the Juche idea based on materialism. Christianity is negative about the world view that spiritual things are good and material things are evil. Some contact points between Materialistic thinking and Christianity can be found in recognizing the material world as an important element of God's creation. The contact between materialism and Christianity also can be found in dialogue with the Greek philosophy in early Christian era, particularly in the conversation between Paul, who were at the forefront of non-Jewish contact, and Athenians.

The Relationship between External Contingencies of Self-Worth and Materialism of Undergraduates: Self-Discrepancy and the Stability of Self-Esteem as Mediators (대학생의 외적 자기가치 수반성과 물질주의의 관계: 자기 불일치, 자존감 안정성의 매개효과)

  • The present study aimed to emprically verify the materialistic pursuits process of undergraduates by applying the escape theory of materialism(Donnelly et al., 2016). Among the six steps of Donnelly's model, the first step is percieving that the fall short of high standards of life, as measured by external contingencies of self-worth. The second step is blaming the self for falling short of standards, as measured by self-discrepancy. The third step of high aversive self-awareness is measured by low stability of self-esteem. A total of 465(203 male and 262 female) college students participated in the online survey and the model was tested using structural equation model. We found that the relationship of external contingencies of self-worth and materialism was mediated by self-discrepancy and there was a sequential mediation effect of self-discrepancy and the stability of self-esteem. The direct effect of external contingencies of self-worth on materialism was also significant. This study is meaningful in that it used the escape theory to emprically verify the materialistic pursuit process of Korean undergraduates living in a meritocratic society.

Attitude and Purchase Intent for Luxury Fashion Goods : Cultural Differences between Americans and Chinese

  • Expanding upon Zhang and Kim's (2013) study involving Chinese consumers, this study investigated key factors that influence U.S. consumers' attitude towards purchasing luxury fashion goods and purchase intent and examined what similarities and differences exist between the two consumer groups in relation to the key factors. A total of 414 respondents completed the online survey questionnaire. Structural Equation Modeling was utilized to analyze data. Brand consciousness, materialism, fashion innovativeness, and fashion involvement were significant factors that affect U.S. consumers' attitude towards luxury fashion goods. Overall, the findings of the current study were greatly inconsistent with Zhang and Kim's Chinese study. The inconsistency provides vital implications to luxury fashion retailers by showing that one size does not fit all and one strategy does not fit all markets.

A Study on the Family and kinship Value in Urban and Rural Families of Korea (도시 및 농촌 거주자의 가족 및 친족관련 가치관 비교)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the Korean value about family and kinship in urban and rural families. For this purpose, we surveyed 716 subjects with structured questionnaires in Seoul and 593 subjects in rural areas. From this survey, we reached the following conclusions: 1) In urban families, most of the respondents are found not to support familism, materialism, boy preference, and they show an ambivalence about the child value in the viewpoint of the reward and the cost. 2) Most of the respondents in rural families are found to support familism, materialism, and rewardable child value. But, as the same as urban families, they don't show boy preference. 3) Comparing urban families with rural families, the latter are found to support familism more strongly. And there are sleight differences in boy preference significantly. On the other hand, urban families are found to show costly chad value more strongly.

A Study on the Relationship between Clothing Evaluative Criteria of Hanbok and the Life Style Characteristics of University Students (남녀대학생의 라이프 스타일과 한복의 평가기준에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between lifestyle and the evaluative criteria of the Korean traditional costume, Hanbok and saenghwal hanbok. The questionnaires were administered to 291(men:.102,Women:189) university students in Seoul. Data were analysed by factor analysis, correlation coefficient, t-test. The results were as follows : 1) Factor analysis was used to determine the dimensions of the evaluative criteria of Hanbok, Saenghwal Hanbok and life style characteristics. The evaluative criteria dimensions were found to be different according to Hanbok. Saenghwal Hanbok. 2) In Hanbok, evaluative criteria were classified into comfort & easy care, prestige, design, fashion, suitability to yourself. 3) In Saenghwal Hanbok. evaluative criteria were classified into prestige, ease of care, design., appropriateness, brand. 4) The life style characteristics were classified into independence, activism. conservatism, and materialism. 5) There were the significant relationships between life style factor and clothing evaluative criteria. Especially for design in Hanbok and Saenghwal Hanbok was negative relationship with conservatism and positive relationship with activism. materialism. and Independence.

Purchasing Intentions toward Originals and Counterfeits - Foreign Fashion Luxury Brands - (진품과 복제품 구매의도 - 패션 명품을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to classify the clusters based on two behavioral intentions toward purchasing originals and counterfeits of foreign fashion luxury brands and to examine the differences in personality characteristics and demographics. This study included attitude toward counterfeit, consumer ethnocentrism, materialism, and need for uniqueness as personality characteristics and gender, monthly household income, and pocket money as demographics. Data were gathered by surveying university students living in Seoul metropolitan area using convenient sampling, and 320questionnaires were used in the statistical analysis. In analyzing data, cluster analysis, x-test, and One-way ANOVA were conducted. As a result of the cluster analysis based on two behavioral intentions toward purchasing originals and counterfeits, four groups were identified. There were significant differences in attitude toward counterfeit and materialism according to the purchasing intention clusters. x-tests also showed there were significant differences between the number of male and female subjects in each of the four clusters. Females are significantly more represented than females in all four clusters.

The Relations between Brand Attachment and Brand Loyalty with regard to Symbolic Consumption Propensity toward Fashion Goods (패션제품의 상징적 소비성향에 따른 브랜드 애착과 브랜드 충성도와의 관계)

  • The Purpose of this study is to research the relations between brand attachment and brand loyalty depending on symbolic consumption propensity toward fashion goods. Subjects were 391 women in their twenties to fifties who live in Gyungsang Province and have purchased the fashion goods. Frequency analysis, reliability analysis, factor analysis, multiple regression analysis, and one-way layout variance analysis were conducted using SPSS 13.0 as data analysis. The findings from the analysis are described in the following: Uniqueness and materialism out of the symbolic consumption propensity toward fashion goods had positive effects on the elements of brand attachment such as love, care, and knowledge. Brand loyalty was influenced positively by social face sensitivity and materialism among symbolic consumption toward fashion goods.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the fashion images and the aesthetic characteristics of hand work imaged design. The 'hand work' has not only affected the contemporary life style but also the current fashion trend. The primary source of data has been a collection of recent books, news repots, and many articles from various kinds of mass media and fashion magazines since the year 2000. The results of this study can be summarized as follow. First, hand work imaged fashion design can be divided the background into three parts : post-materialism, aesthetics of slowness, personalize trend. Second, hand work imaged fashion design can be identified with the following images : folklore & craft image, second hand image, high touch image. Third, the aesthetic characteristics of hand work image reflects the concepts of sustainability and process communication.
