A wide variety of fashion materials focus on good drape property and softness. Among the recently emerging materials, Neoprene that consists of laminated knit on both sides of foamed neoprene sheet seeks a unique appearance that is considerably deviated from the current flow. Diverse processing methods for the newly released material heighten the value in function and beauty among trends of fashion materials by enhancing the appearance, touch and material property. Laser-cutting technique is one of the processing methods that is consistently used in the textile area. This study aimed to find the basic materials for applicability of laser-cutting technique to clothing goods after consideration of the changes in material property and drape shape, and to furthermore enforce different pattern conditions to Neoprene material, one of the newly attractive materials in the fashion area. In this study, we applied laser-cutting technique to Neoprene material sample under different conditions of pattern appearance, size and distance, based on current evaluation and theoretical background of Neoprene material, fashion trend and laser-cutting technique. Drape property can improve and the drape direction could also be controlled by a wide variety of laser-cutting techniques applied to Neoprene materials that have uniquely different appearances from most other textiles. This technique could be applied to the design for diversification of Neoprene clothing goods in the future.

Environment-friendly materials are increasingly used as building construction materials nowadays, and the market share of those is growing. Accordingly, the research and developments in terms of environmental value are progressing steadily now. The main characteristics of environmental products are far-infrared radiation, negative-ion emission, electromagnetic wave shielding, and antimicrobial property. These products are often used in mortar and as spray on the finishing material. Nevertheless, there are hardly any research on the functional properties of concrete, the main material in construction field. Thus, we evaluated such basic properties of concrete as slump, compressive strength and air content while using such functional materials as sericite, wood-pattern sandstone, carbon black and nano-metric silver solution to focus on their functional properties like far-infrared radiation, negative ion emission, electro magnetic wave shielding, and antimicrobial activity in this research. The results indicated that the most useful material in the functional materials was carbon black. Sericite and nano-metric silver solution had a little effect on the functional property. Moreover, although wood-pattern sandstone had very high functional property, it exhibited too low compressive strength to be applied, to concrete as a factory product. Antimicrobial property of nano-metric silver solution in the concrete was not clear demonstrated, but if these specimens were to be aged in $CO_2$ gas for a long time, it might be apparent.
This paper is concerned with manufacturing technology of thin foil tensile specimen using CIP(Cold Isostatic Press) and measurement of precision mechanical property. This thin foil tensile specimen manufacturing technology is a method that can make a metal thin foil specimen for micro tensile testing. We can get a burr free micro metallic thin foil specimen using this technology. For testing mechanical property of this micro thin foil, we use a nano scale material testing machine that was developed by KITECH. In this paper, micro tensile specimens of nickel and copper thin foil are fabricated with CIP and precision mechanical properties of these materials could be measured. We will expect that precision mechanical property of micro/nano material and component. Micro and Nano mechanical property can be measured using this technology and mechanical property data base of micro/nano material and component can be constructed.
This paper is a study on squeal noise simulation under the consideration of temperature and pressure dependent material properties of friction material. For this, data of pressure and temperature dependent material properties of lining is achieved by using lining data base and exponential curve fit. Complex eigenvalue analysis is performed for predicting squeal noise frequency and instability and chassis dynamo test is performed for achieving squeal noise frequency, sound pressure level, occurrence temperature & pressure. Initial multi models are composed for considering complex interface conditions such as pad ear-clip, piston-housing and guide pin-torque member. The simulation result of base models is compared with the test result. Squeal noise simulation under the consideration of temperature and pressure dependent material properties of friction material is performed and analyzed using multi models. And additional condition is disc material property variation. Entire simulation conditions are combined and analyzed. Finally, this paper proposes direction of the warm squeal noise model.

The properties of magnetic material of Nd-Fe-B are highly affected by various factors such as particle size, magnetic anisotropy, phase purity and crystal structure. Incorporation of excess neodymium was carried out in various percentages so that it will adjust the proportion of neodymium in the host crystal after reduction treatment and finally help to improve magnetic property of a material. The interdiffusion of Nd-Fe and boron was studied for various compositions and their effect on magnetic property was understood with theoretical concepts. The factors such as amount of hard and soft phase in the reduction treated product is also responsible for the possible exchange coupling between hard and soft phase magnets for better magnetic properties.
Auxetic material is a material which has negative Poisson's ratio(NPR). Auxetic material shows some distinctive property like high energy absorbing property and high shear modulus. Among these, synclastic curvature is very interesting characteristic. When synclastic-curvature-material bends, it changes its shape like dome, contrary to non-auxetic material which changes its shape like saddle(anticlastic). This distinctive property could make it easy to manufacture curved structure like nose cone or wing panel in aerospace engineering. In this study, we studied a quantitative analysis about synclastic curvature of re-entrant panel with finite element model. We suggested a concept 'Degree of Synclasticity(DOS)', which means a ratio of curvature of load-direction and load-orthogonal direction. We studied the variation of DOS with two factor, unit cell inner angle(${\theta}$) and load position angle(${\phi}$). DOS decreases as ${\theta}$ increases because the unit cell goes out of auxetic-shape. As ${\phi}$ varies, DOS changes in a large range. So proper optimization of ${\phi}$ would be needed for application.
Vacuum interrupters are used in various switch-gear components such as circuit breakers, distribution switches, contactors. The electrodes of a vacuum interrupter are manufactured of sinter-forged Cu-Cr material for good electrical and mechanical characteristics. Since the closing velocity is 1-2m/s and impact deformation of the electrode depends on the strain-rate at the given velocity, the dynamic material property of the sinter-forged Cu-Cr alloy is important to design the vacuum interrupter reliably and to identify the impact characteristics of a vacuum interrupter accurately. This paper is concerned with the dynamic material properties of sinter-forged Cu-Cr alloy for various strain rates. The amount of chrome is varied from 10 wt% to 30 wt% in order to investigate the influence of the chrome content on the dynamic material property. The high speed tensile test machine is utilized in order to identify the dynamic property of the Cu-Cr alloy at the intermediate strain-rate and the split Hopkinson pressure bar is used at the high strain-rate. Experimental results from both the quasi-static and the high strain-rate up to the 5000/sec are interpolated with respect to the amount of chrome in order to construct the Johnson-Cook and the modified Johnson-Cook model as the constitutive relation that should be applied to numerical simulation of the impact behavior of electrodes.
Turning property of metal is affected by the cutting condition, tool geome- try and cutting material. But the turning property of welded material is not welknown. Welded structures usually contain nonhomogeneity, defects and resi- dual stresses due to differential contraction between welded metal and base metal. In this paper, authors conducted the experimental test on the turning property, by changing turning condition and welding electrodes of the welded specimens. The results obtained in these experimental tests are as follows; (1) Within the limit of this experimental test, the cutting force of the weld zone is bigger than that of base metal, and this phenomena is caused by the different mechanical property of the weld zone. The range of the variation of cutting force in the weld zone is caused by the nonhomogeneity of the weld zone, respectively. (2) The surface roughness follows the general characteristic of the effect of cutting condition on the surface roughness and the surface roughness of the weld zone shows coarse surface comparing with that of the base metal. (3) The specimen welded by the electrode E4301, shows worse cutting property than that of E4361 and E4313.
PURPOSES : The objective of this study is to evaluate the applicability of the pitch, which is produced during SDA petroleum upgrading process, as a pavement paving material. In order for the purpose, the physical and chemical properties of the pitch are analyzed, and then the various plasticizers are applied in the pitch. METHODS : Two types of pitch are selected from oil refinery companies, which are owned the SDA petroleum upgrading process. Also, two types of asphalt binders, PG 64-22 and PG 58-22, are employed to compare with the pitch because these two types of asphalt binders are currently used as paving materials. For the chemical property of the pitch, the composition of SARA (Saturate, Aromatic, Resin, Asphaltene), the elementary composition, and the functional group are analyzed. For the physical property of the pitch, the basic material property tests, such as penetration test, softening point test, flash point test, ductility test, and rotational viscometer test, are performed. Also, the DSR (Dynamic Shear Rheometer) test and the BBR (Bending Beam Rheometer) test are conducted using asphalt binder specimens obtained by both short term aging (Rolling Thin Film Oven, RTFO) and long term aging (Pressure Aging Vessel, PAV) processes. The rheological property of each pitch type is evaluated as a function of temperatures and loading cycles. PG 64-22 asphalt binder is used as a control material. RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS : The Pitch may not be suitable for the pavement paving material without modifications, but the pitch can be used as alternatives of modified addictive or asphalt. If low molecular component, such as saturate and aromatic components, are added in the pitch based on the development of various plasticizers, it has a strong possibility for the pitch to be used as a alternative. However, in order to verify the performance property of the pitch, further research is needed.
In this paper, viologen derivative is used as charge transfer material to develop sensors for detecting the organic pollutants which are the main reason of harbor pollution. We fabricated self-assembled monolayers of viologen derivative on gold electrode of QCM and investigated an electrochemical behavior property. We also determined electrochemical sensing property about environmental pollution materials such as bezene, phosphate and surfactant through quantitative and qualitative analysis of charge transfer using intrinsic property of viologen derivative by temperature and concentration change. From the achieved results, we can apply and develope the detecting sensors for harbor pollutants.
