  • A new meshfree formulation is developed for material discontinuity problems. A local interfacial jump function which is defined as hyperplane function is embedded in the meshless approximation and the approximation accurately models functions with jumps in the displacement and the derivative fields. Diffuse derivative technique copes with difficulty due to complexity of derivative computation of meshfree approximation. Collocation method with diffuse derivative accelerates computing speed for numerical solution. By solving inclusion and composite material problems, the robustness and effectiveness of the method are verified.

  • In this paper, viologen derivative is used as charge transfer material to develop sensors for detecting the organic pollutants which are the main reason of harbor pollution. We fabricated self-assembled monolayers of viologen derivative on gold electrode of QCM and investigated an electrochemical behavior property. We also determined electrochemical sensing property about environmental pollution materials such as bezene, phosphate and surfactant through quantitative and qualitative analysis of charge transfer using intrinsic property of viologen derivative by temperature and concentration change. From the achieved results, we can apply and develope the detecting sensors for harbor pollutants.

  • Viscoelastic damping materials are widely used to reduce noise and vibration because of its low cost and easy implementation, for examples, on the body structure of passenger cars, air planes, electric appliances and ships. To design the damped structures, the material property such as elastic modulus and loss factor is essential information. The four-parameter fractional derivative model well describes the dynamic characteristics of the viscoelastic damping materials with respect to both frequency and temperature. However, the identification procedure of the four-parameter is very time-consuming one. In this study a new identification procedure of the four-parameters is proposed by using an FE model and a gradient-based numerical search algorithm. The identification procedure goes two sequential steps to make measured frequency response functions(FRF) coincident with simulated FRFs: the first one is a peak alignment step and the second one is an amplitude adjustment step. A numerical example shows that the proposed method is useful in identifying the viscoelastic material parameters of fractional derivative model.

  • In this manuscript, we consider electromagnetic imaging of perfectly conducting cracks completely hidden in a homogeneous material via boundary measurements. For this purpose, we carefully derive a topological derivative formula based on the asymptotic expansion formula for the existence of a perfectly conducting inclusion with a small radius. With this, we introduce a topological derivative based imaging algorithm and discuss its properties. Various numerical examples with noisy data show the effectiveness and limitations of the imaging algorithm.

To design the damped structures, the material property such as elastic modulus and loss factor is essential information. The four-parameter fractional derivative model well describes the nonlinear dynamic characteristics of the viscoelastic damping materials with respect to both frequency and temperature with fewer parameters than conventional spring-dashpot models. However the identification procedure of the four-parameter is very time-consuming one. An efficient identification procedure of the four-parameters is proposed by using an FE model and a gradient-based numerical search algorithm. The identification procedure goes two sequential steps to make measured FRFs coincident with simulated FRFs: the first one is a peak alignment step and the second one is an amplitude adjustment. • This paper presents a nonlinear Moving Least Squares(MLS) difference method for material nonlinearity problem. The MLS difference method, which employs strong formulation involving the fast derivative approximation, discretizes governing partial differential equation based on a node model. However, the conventional MLS difference method cannot explicitly handle constitutive equation since it solves solid mechanics problems by using the Navier's equation that unifies unknowns into one variable, displacement. In this study, a double derivative approximation is devised to treat the constitutive equation of inelastic material in the framework of strong formulation; in fact, it manipulates the first order derivative approximation two times. The equilibrium equation described by the divergence of stress tensor is directly discretized and is linearized by the Newton method; as a result, an iterative procedure is developed to find convergent solution. Stresses and internal variables are calculated and updated by the return mapping algorithm. Effectiveness and stability of the iterative procedure is improved by using algorithmic tangent modulus. The consistency of the double derivative approximation was shown by the reproducing property test. Also, accuracy and stability of the procedure were verified by analyzing inelastic beam under incremental tensile loading.

  • Oligothiophene derivatives have been well-known as an p-type channel material.$^1$ Here, we report novel oligothiophene derivative containing methylene linkage as an p-type channel material. Oligothiophene derivative containing methylene linkage BHTM was synthesized and characterized. BHTM was prepared by a palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction via zinc-substituted thiophene. BHTM exhibited high thermal stability and at least one transition temperature.

  • Film characteristics of thin ONO dielectric layers for MONOS(metal-oxide-nitride-oxide-semiconductor) EEPROM was investigated by TEM, AES and AFM. Seocnd derivative spectra of Auger Si LVV overlapping peak provide useful information fot chemical state analysis of superthin film. The ONO film with dimension of tunnel oxide 23$\AA$, nitride 33$\AA$, and blocking oxide 40$\AA$ was fabricated. During deposition of the LPCVD nitride film on tunnel oxide, this thin oxide was nitrized. When the blocking oxide was deposited on the nitride film, the oxygen not only oxidized the nitride surface, but diffused through the nitride. The results of ONO film analysis exhibits that it is made up of $SiO_2$ (blocking oxide)/O-rich SiON(interface)/N-rich SiON(nitride)/ O-rich SiON(tunnel oxide)
