  • In order to increase productivity, modern business which use the techniques of mass production should progress gradually from to use of human labor to total mechanization in the various steps of the production process. This will not only avoid the prospect of future labor shortages, but will also solve nancy of the problems involved in increasing productivity In this paper, we have approached the problem of determining the number of machine units that can be economically assigned to one operator by using Palm's model.

  • This paper designs a looper-tension controller for mass-flow stabilization in hot strip finishing mills. By Newton's 2nd law and Hooke's law, nonlinear dynamic equations on the looper-tension system are firstly derived, and linearized by a linearization algorithm using a Taylor's series expansion. Moreover, a tension calculation model is obtained from the nonlinear dynamic equations which is called as a soft sensor of strip tension between two neighboring stands. Next, a looper-tension servo controller is designed by an ILQ(Inverse Linear Quadratic optimal control) algorithm, and it is combined with a minimal disturbance observer which to attenuate speed disturbances by AGC and operator interventions, etc.. Finally, it is shown from by a computer simulation that the proposed ILQ controller with a disturbance observer is very effective in stabilizing the strip mass-flow under some disturbances, moreover it has a good command following performance.

  • This paper deals with the cantilever subjected to a follower force which is generated by real rocket motor which has linearly decreasing thrust. The cantilever is assumed to be uniform and elastic one, In the theoretical analysis, the tip mass of rocket motor is considered as a rigid body and effects of its dynamic parameters are shown and compared with the experimental results. Particularly, the variation of the 2nd natural frequency due to the decreasing thrust is measured in the experiments and compared with the theoretical estimations. Approximate method is adopted in the theoretical analysis using Galerkin method by introducing 3-element modified operator and modified variable which represent eqation of motion and natural boundary conditions. In general, structural damping effects can be neglected and all the rigid body parameters must be taken into account in case of the short action time of the follower force and the relatively big tip mass like the system of this paper according to the experiment. Good agreement was obtained between the theoretical estimations and the experimental results by neglecting structural damping and considering all the rigid bidy parameters of the tip mass.

Real-Time Water Wave Simulation with Surface Advection based on Mass Conservancy

  • In this paper, we present a real-time physical simulation model of water surfaces with a novel method to represent the water mass flow in full three dimensions. In a physical simulation model, the state of the water surfaces is represented by a set of physical values, including height, velocity, and the gradient. The evolution of the velocity field in previous works is handled by a velocity solver based on the Navier-Stokes equations, which occurs as a result of the unevenness of the velocity propagation. In this paper, we integrate the principle of the mass conservation in a fluid of equilateral density to upgrade the height field from the unevenness, which in mathematical terms can be represented by the divergence operator. Thus the model generates waves induced by horizontal velocity, offering a simulation that puts forces added in all direction into account when calculating the values for height and velocity for the next frame. Other effects such as reflection off the boundaries, and interactions with floating objects are involved in our method. The implementation of our method demonstrates to run with fast speed scalable to real-time rates even for large simulation domains. Therefore, our model is appropriate for a real-time and large scale water surface simulation into which the animator wishes to visualize the global fluid flow as a main emphasis.

  • Nowadaty, To keep pace with the mass transportation carried out by vessels in the international trade, the Korean government is trying to make a rapid progress to be a higher ranked shipping country to the world through the shipping increase. For the effective management of international trade by vessels and the safe operation of vessels, it is indispensable for ships radio communication to be effective and smooth. Therefore, to enhance the efficiency of ships radio communication is one of the primary factors to be solved for the econimics of shipping management. The reserch area is not only limited to the ships radio communication on the North Pacific Ocean but limited to the ships radio communication which is one of the chiefest methods of communications. From the research for the efficient methods of ships radio communication, the following results are obtained. (1) The operator on ships radio communication should have the knowledge of specific know-how and wide experience in the operation of ships radio communications. (2) The operator should abopt the radio propagation prediction made by the Ministry of Communications to use the best ionosphere reflection in the short wave communications. (3) The increase the radio officer of 1 to 2 in order to contrive the safety at sea and to keep the ships radio communication fare low. (4) The owner should pay their attentions to the education and employment of radio officer. (5) The authorities concerned on the ships radio communication should estabilish the effective and consistent policy for the ships radio officers.

Optimization of Fuzzy Set Fuzzy Model by Means of Hierarchical Fair Competition-based Genetic Algorithm using UNDX operator (UNDX연산자를 이용한 계층적 공정 경쟁 유전자 알고리즘을 이용한 퍼지집합 퍼지 모델의 최적화)

  • In this study, we introduce the optimization method of fuzzy inference systems that is based on Hierarchical Fair Competition-based Parallel Genetic Algorithms (HFCGA) and information data granulation, The granulation is realized with the aid of the Hard C-means clustering and HFCGA is a kind of multi-populations of Parallel Genetic Algorithms (PGA), and it is used for structure optimization and parameter identification of fuzzy model. It concerns the fuzzy model-related parameters such as the number of input variables to be used, a collection of specific subset of input variables, the number of membership functions, the order of polynomial, and the apexes of the membership function. In the optimization process, two general optimization mechanisms are explored. The structural optimization is realized via HFCGA and HCM method whereas in case of the parametric optimization we proceed with a standard least square method as well as HFCGA method as well. A comparative analysis demonstrates that the proposed algorithm is superior to the conventional methods. Particularly, in parameter identification, we use the UNDX operator which uses multiple parents and generate offsprings around the geographic center off mass of these parents.

  • We study Diriclet forms and related subjects for the Gibbs measures of classical unbounded sping systems interacting via potentials which are superstable and regular. For any Gibbs measure $\mu$, we construct a Dirichlet form and the associated diffusion process on $L^2(\Omega, d\mu), where \Omega = (R^d)^Z^\nu$. Under appropriate conditions on the potential we show that the Dirichlet operator associated to a Gibbs measure $\mu$ is essentially self-adjoint on the space of smooth bounded cylinder functions. Under the condition of uniform log-concavity, the Gibbs measure exists uniquely and there exists a mass gap in the lower end of the spectrum of the Dirichlet operator. We also show that under the condition of uniform log-concavity, the unique Gibbs measure satisfies the log-Sobolev inequality. We utilize the general scheme of the previous works on the theory in infinite dimensional spaces developed by e.g., Albeverio, Antonjuk, Hoegh-Krohn, Kondratiev, Rockner, and Kusuoka, etc, and also use the equilibrium condition and the regularity of Gibbs measures extensively.

An Experimental Study on Fault Detection and Diagnosis Method for a Water Chiller Using Bayes Classifier (베이즈 분류기를 이용한 수냉식 냉동기의 고장 진단 방법에 관한 실험적 연구)

  • Fault detection and diagnosis(FDD) system is beneficial in equipment management by providing the operator with tools which can help find out a failure of the system. An experimental study has been performed on fault detection and diagnosis method for a water chiller. Bayes classifier, which is one of classical pattern classifiers, is adopted in deciding whether fault occurred or not. Failure modes in this study include refrigerant leakage, decrease in mass flow rate of the chilled water and cooling water, and sensor error of the cooling water inlet temperature. It is possible to detect and diagnose faults in this study by adopting FDD algorithm using only four parameters(compressor outlet temperature, chilled water inlet temperature, cooling water outlet temperature and compressor power consumption). Refrigerant leakage failure is detected at 20% of refrigerant leakage. When mass flow rate of the chilled and cooling water decrease more than 8% or 12%, FDD algorithm can detect the faults. The deviation of temperature sensor over $0.6^{\circ}C$ can be detected as fault.

  • In this paper, we present a control method of mobile power assist systems. Most of mobile power assist systems have a heavy base for preventing easy tumbling, so continual movement of the base during operations causes high energy consumption and gives the high risk of human injury. Furthermore, the slow dynamics of the base limits the frequency bandwidth of the whole system. Thus we propose a cooperation control method of the mobile base and manipulator, which removes the unnecessary movements of the base. In our scheme, the mobile base does not move until the center of gravity(C.G) of the system goes outside a safety region. When C.G. reaches the boundary of the safety region, the base starts moving to recover the manipulator's initial configuration. By varying the parameters of a human impedance controller, the operator is warned by a force feedback that C.G. is on the marginal safety region. Our scheme is implemented by assigning a nonlinear mass-damper-spring impedance to the tip of the manipulator. The Development of a Spatial Middleware for Efficient Retrieval of Mass Spatial Data (대용량 공간 데이타의 효율적인 검색을 위한 공간 미들웨어의 개발)

  • Recently, because of the need to wide-area spatial data for spatlal analysis and military purpose, there are increasing demand for the efficient retrieval of mass spatial data in Geographic Information System(GIS) fields. Oracle Spatial and ESRI ArcSDE, that are GIS Software, are to manage mass spatial data stably and to support various services but they are inefficient to retrieve mass spatial data because of the complexity of their spatial data models and spatial operations. Therefore, in this paper, we developed a spatial middleware that can retrieve mass spatial data efficiently. The spatial middleware used Oracle which is a representative commercial DBMS as a repository for the stable management of spatial data and utilized OCCI(Oracle C++ Call Interface) for the efficient access of mass spatial data in Oracle. In addition, various spatial operating methods and the Array Fetch method were used in the spatial middleware to perform efficient spatial operations and retrieval of mass spatial data in Oracle, respectively. Finally, by comparing the spatial middleware with Oracle Spatial and ESRI ArcSDE through the performance evaluation, we proved its excellent retrieval and storage performance of mass spatial data.
