This study was carried out to investigate exposure level, size distribution, and respirable mass fraction of airborne coal dust and heavy metal concentration of respirable coal dust at each work site in coal briquet factory from July 1991 to September 1991. Geometric mean of total dust concentration was 10.88mg/m$^{3}$ at storage shop, 8.22mg/m$^{3}$ at pulverize shop, and 3.79mg/m$^{3}$ at rotary press shop, respectively, but those at storage and pulverize shop were higher than TLV. Geometric mean of respirable coal dust concentration wat 1.03mg/m$^{3}$ at storage shop, 0.78mg/m$^{3}$ at pulverize shop, and 0.55mg/m$^{3}$ at rotary press shop, respectively, which were lower than TLV Aerodynamic 50% cutoff diameter of the suspended coal dust was 5$\mu$m at rotary press shop and 6.8$\mu$m at storage shop, ranged to thoracic particulate defined by ACGIH, and deposited in the region of repiratory system. The mass fraction rate of respirable dust to the total coal dust was 26.2% at rotary press shop, 18.8% at storage shop, and 13.8% at pulverize shop, respectively. Heavy metal concentrations of the respirable coal dust were 0.028mg/m$^{3}$ ib Fe, 0.0081mg/m$^{3}$ in Cu, and 0.0039mg/m$^{3}$ in Pb.
The generation of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles by a thermal decomposition of titanium tetraisopropoxide (TTIP) was carried out experimentally using a tubular electric furnace at various synthesis temperatures (700, 900, 1100 and $1300^{\circ}C$) and precursor heating temperatures (80, 95 and $110^{\circ}C$). Effects of degree of crystallinity, surface area and anatase mass fraction of those $TiO_2$ nanoparticles on photocatalytic properties such as decomposition of methylene blue was investigated. Results show that the primary particle diameter obtained from thermal decomposition of TTIP was considerably smaller than the commercial photocatalyst (Degussa, P25). Also, those specific surface areas were more than 134.4 $m^2$/g. Resultant $TiO_2$ nanoparticles showed improved photocatalytic activity compared with Deggusa P25. This is contributed to the higher degree of crystallinity, surface area and anatase mass fraction of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles compared with P25.
Stanozolol (STZ, 17$\alpha$-methyl-17$\beta$-hydroxy-5$\alpha$-androstano-(3,2-c) pyrazole), an anabolic steroid, is an abused drug by body-builders or atheletes, as well as medicine for treatment of aplastic anemia and vascular thrombosis. In human volunteers, the major urinary metabolite of STZ was reported to be 3'-hydroxystanozolol that was identified by gas chromatography-mass selective detector (GC/MSD). The objective of this experiment is to investigate the in vitro metabolism of STZ in liver S-9 faction of polychlorinated biphenyl-induced rats. Reaction mixture including STZ as substrate and the S-9 faction was extracted with diethyl ether and quantified by the selected ion monitoring mode of GC/MSD. The selected concentration of substrate STZ is 100 nmole and the selected time for incubation in the reaction mixture was determined to 60 min. The amount of 3'-hydroxystanozolol produced was increased by about 6-fold in the reaction medium including the liver S-9 fraction of polychlorinated biphenyl-induced rats, compared to that of untreated rats. Inhibitors of cytochrome P450, SKF-525A and 7,8-benzoflavone, decreased the production of 3'-hydroxystanozolol by about 89~100% and 65~75%, respectively; In conclusion, hydroxylation of STZ into 3'-hydroxystanozolol is confirmed by GC/MSD and is catalyzed by cytochrome P450.
The liquids of Lycopersicon esculentum were extracted with 70% aqueous MeOH and the concentrates were partitioned into EtOAc, n-BuOH, and H2O fractions. The repeated silica gel and octadecyl silica gel column chromatographies for the EtOAc fraction, whose activity was confirmed, led to isolation of one flavonol compound. The chemical structures of the compound were determined as quercetin (1) based on spectroscopic analyses including nuclear magnetic resornance, infrarad spectroscopy, and mass spectroscopy. Through this study, the antioxidant efficacy was confirmed by demonstrating that the L. esculentum fraction showing an increase in glutathione mean (GM) and a decrease in glutathione heterogeneity (GH) uniformly raises the intracellular glutathione (GSH) level.

Our HI monster sample is a set of local HI-rich galaxies identified by the ALFALFA survey (Arecibo Legacy Fast Survey ALFA) at z<0.08. Intriguingly, they are also found with a relatively large molecular gas reservoir compared to the galaxies with similar stellar mass and color, yet their star formation rate is quite comparable to normal spirals. This makes our HI monsters good candidates of galaxies in the process of gas accretion which may lead to the stellar mass growth. One feasible explanation for their relatively low star formation activity for a given high cool gas fraction is the gas in monsters being too turbulent to form stars as normal spirals. In order to verify this hypothesis, we probe the molecular gas kinematics of 10 HI monsters which we observed using the Atacama Large Millimeter/sub-millimeter Array (ALMA). We utilize the tilted ring model to investigate what fraction of the molecular gas in the sample is regularly and smoothly rotating. In addition, we model the molecular gas disk using the GALMOD package of the Groningen Image Processing System (GIPSY) and compare with the observations to identify the gas which is offset from the 'co-planar differential rotation'. Based on the results, we discuss the possibility of gas accretion in the sample, and the potential origin of non-regularly rotating gas and the inefficient star formation.

We present a statistical analysis of dark matter halos with interacting neighbors using a set of cosmological simulations. We classify the neighbors into two groups based on the total energy (E12) of the target-neighbor system; flybying neighbors (E12 ≥ 0) and merging ones (E12 < 0). First, we find a different trend between the flyby and merger fractions in terms of the halo mass and large-scale density. The flyby fraction highly depends on the halo mass and environment, while the merger fraction show little dependence. Second, we measure the spin-orbit alignment, which is the angular alignment between the spin of a target halo (${\vec{S}}$ ) and the orbital angular momentum of its neighbor (${\vec{L}}$). In the spin-orbit angle distribution, the flybying neighbors show a weaker prograde alignment with their target halos than the merging neighbors do. With respect to the nearest filament, the flybying neighbor has a behavior different from that of the merging neighbor. Finally, we discuss the physical origin of two interaction types.
We have discovered an unexplored population of galaxies featuring weak broad-line regions (BLRs) at z < 0.2 from detailed analysis of galaxy spectra in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 7. These objects predominantly show a stellar continuum but also a broad $H{\alpha}$ emission line, indicating the presence of a low-luminosity active galactic nucleus (AGN) oriented so that we are viewing the central engine directly without significant obscuration. These accreting black holes have previously eluded detection due to their weak nature. The new BLR AGNs we found increased the number of known type 1 AGNs by 49%. Some of these new BLR AGNs were detected at the Chandra X-ray Observatory, and their X-ray properties confirm that they are indeed type 1 AGN. Based on our new and more complete catalogue of type 1 AGNs, we derived the type 1 fraction of AGNs as a function of [OIII] ${\lambda}5007$ emission luminosity and explored the possible dilution effect on the obscured AGN due to star-formation. The new type 1 AGN fraction shows much more complex behavior with respect to black hole mass and bolometric luminosity than suggested by the existing receding torus model. The type 1 AGN fraction is sensitive to both of these factors, and there seems to be a sweet spot (ridge) in the diagram of black hole mass and bolometric luminosity. Furthermore, we present a hint that the Eddington ratio plays a role in determining the opening angles. This work is submitted to ApJS.
To determine the size distributions of water-soluble inorganic ionic species (WSIS) in roadside aerosols, sampling experiments were carried out in the urban roadside area of Jeju City on August 2018 and January 2019 by using the eight-stage cascade impactor sampler. The mass of roadside aerosols were partitioned at 57% in fine fraction, 36-37% in coarse fraction, and 6-7% in giant fraction, regardless of summer and winter. The mass concentrations of WSIS except for Na+ and SO42- in roadside aerosols were higher in winter than in summer. The size distributions of Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Cl- were characterized by bimodal types with coarse particle mode peaking around 3.3-4.7 ㎛ and 5.8-9.0 ㎛. The size distributions of NO3- and K+ shifted from a single fine mode peaking around 0.7-1.1 ㎛ in winter to bimodal and/or trimodal types with peaks around coarse mode in summer. SO42- and NH4+ showed a single fine mode peaking around 0.7-1.1 ㎛. The MMAD of roadside aerosols was lower than that of Na+, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Cl-. Based on the marine enrichment factors and the ratio values of WSIS and the corresponding value for sea water, the composition of roadside aerosols in Jeju City may be practically affected by terrestrial sources rather than marine source.
This study was conducted to develop environment-friendly agricultural products with anti-microbial activity against Acidovorax avenae subsp. citrulli as a pathogen of bacterial fruit blotch in cucurbit. Schlechtendalia chinensis was extracted by MeOH and solvent fraction. The hexane fraction, which showed highest value of anti-microbial activity, was analyzed by GC-MS. Each mass spectra, corresponding to each peak of chromatogram, was compared to MS database of Wiley library. As a result, myristic acid, palmitic acid and 3-n-pentadecylphenol were identified as maine compounds showing antimicrobial activity against A. avenae subsp. citrulli. Bioassay using commercial myristic acid, palmitic acid and 3-n-pentadecylphenol to test for the anti-microbial activity conformed the anti-microbial activity of potential active compounds, and myristic acid and 3-n-pentadecylphenol showed strong activity. In conclusion, myristic acid and 3-n-pentadecylphenol identified from S. chinensis were anti-microbial chemicals.

We report mass concentration and size fraction of TPM, $PM_{10}$ and $PM_{2.5}$ according to Korea standard test method (ES 01301.1 and ES 01317.1) and ISO 23210 methods. Particulate matters were sampled in large stationary emission sources such as a coal power plant and B-C oil refinery. The Korea standard test method PM mass concentrations showed 3~3.5 times larger than the cascade impactor method. On the other hand, the size fraction results showed less than 5% difference (i.e. $PM_{2.5}/PM_{10}$) between two methods. Moreover, the correlation coefficient ($r^2$) is 0.84 between TPM results of the Korea standard test method and CleanSYS. These results suggested not only improvement of current test criteria in terms of technical and theoretical aspects. Further, additional measurements are required in various large stationary sources to compare current field data.
