In this paper we investigate the table settings of Korean ceremonial foods for Honrye (a marriage ceremony) and Jerye (sacrificial rituals). According to the procedure of Honrye, the tables for Honrye are to be the divided into four classes; Bongchisang for Nappe ceremony, Choroyechungsang for Chorye ceremony, Keunsang for the bride and bridegroom and Pyebecksang for Kyungugorye ceremony. Jerye is to be divided into several classes; Shunjoje, Shijoje, Leeje, Kheeilje, Myoje, Sokjeulje, Sasije, and so on. Foods for Jerye are a little different from those for Honrye, but the form of table settings for Jerye is similar to that of Keunsang in Horye. Each table setting for Honrye and Jerye has its own form, that represents the meaning of that ceremony. Furthermore, foods prepared for Honrye and Jerye have the Korean dual principle of the negative and positive.

The purpose of this study is to examine the Marriage Preparation and Preservation Act adopted in Florida which require premarital counseling and covenant marriage laws of Louisiana and Arizona among many kinds of family policy which recently are designed to prevent divorce in the United States of America. Most of states in the U.S. require the marriage license prior to having a marriage ceremony. Covenant marriage legislation has admirable motives to strengthen marriage and cure the defects of the no-fault system. In that legislation, the imposition of waiting period for the no-fault ground of divorce, proof of fault requirements, consent requirements, and mandatory course or counseling attendance will likely serve as deterrents to those seeking divorce as a first resort. To sum up, by offering preventive measures in the form of premarital counseling and waiting period before marriage, covenant marriage will force couples entering marriage to carefully consider their actions before they act and prevent broken marriages in the first place. In response to rising divorce rates, the Koreas family policy has put its emphasis of fixing social problems accompanied with family dissolution. Rather, this study suggests that attention in Korea also should be shifted from broken marriages to preventing them.

The purposes of this study are to explore the consumption expenditure and consumption-cultural meaning in the process of marriage and to provide consumer education programs for premarital couples. For the purpose, this study uses a qualitative analysis including an in-depth interview and a participant observation. Major findings are as follows: Consumers preparing for their marriage experienced quite a different consumption context, which should be said an exceptional practice from the economic point of view. As the agency businesses for marriage becomes one of the fast growing industries, the marriage of Korea is now under the rule of popular consumption culture. Thus, the exceptional consumption abuse during a marriage process brings about the imbalance in consumers' daily life after wedding ceremony. In this point of view, we can see the importance of consumer education programs for the marriage process. The latter half of this study is devoted to propose the desirable model of the consumer education program for premarital couples.
This study explores women's Wonsam in the 18th century. Wonsam was women's wedding dress, one of the representative ceremonial garments of Korea. Wonsam began to appear in the excavated clothes around the 18th century, and we can find drawings and records of the period in Yongjae Collections by Kim-kunhaeng. The form of Wonsam after the 17th and 18th centuries showed the changes in which Seop and Mu disappeared in Baeja form of Danryoung(團領) and the right and left symmetry and side slits were highlighted. The change also included wide and long sleeves and Sakdong(색동) colorful strips on the sleeves), Hansam ornaments, and the use of the belt, which means the change of Baeja composition into our traditional costume of the age. Through the Colletions, we notice that women wore Wonsam in different colors and with varying hair accessories according to the nature of ceremony, the social status, and marital status. Concerning Wonsam, the color of clothing for the dead woman was green(喪禮), while that for marriage ceremony was red(婚禮). Wonsam with the light color was for ceremonial clothing(祭禮). The women who served in the palace wore green Wonsam and Geodumi, while a bride at the marriage ceremony wore red Wonsam or a red long-sleeved robe with Jokduri. At the ceremony of Hyeongunorye, women wore Wonsam with a wig. the dead woman wore Yemou.

This study is about the wedding culture of Seoul and Kyungsangdo. This paper is a qualitative study that is based on interviews. As a result of this study, it became clear that before the industrialization of South Korea, there were different characteristics of wedding culture in each region. However, the unique characteristics of wedding customs in each region have been degenerated or exterminated, in tandem with the influx of customs from other regions, due to the dramatic urbanization of South Korea, and the development of transport and communication that appeared in the process of modernization. Furthermore, wedding customs were transformed from ceremonies based on a regional and kin-based community into those that were no more than mere events, which was derived from the industrialization and urbanization of Korea.
This study surveyed features of weddings in the main family by selecting 10 families in which the grandnephew and grandnephew's wife dwell in the head house, have a shrine, and hold a memorial service for Bulcheonwi (不遷位). A case survey through in-depth interview was carried out from April 9, to October 8, 2011. It surveyed the contents and the wedding artifacts in Uihon (議婚), Napchae (納采), Nappye (納幣), Daerye (大禮), Hyeongugorye (見舅姑禮), which are the procedures of traditional wedding that have been kept in the wedding ceremony of the main family. As a result, in deciding on marriage, the marriage was formed on the basis of similar Gagyeok (家格) and on ancestor's common scholastic mantle or origin. As for wedding furnishings, wedding presents, and wedding gifts, 9 out of 10 families were indicated to give and take weakly. Also, 6 out of 10 families held a traditional wedding ceremony in the yard of the bride's house. Hyeongugorye (見舅姑禮) was indicated to be held by all of the 10 families. A continuous effort in academic circles and industries is demanded for preserving the living culture of the main family, which proceeds with following the traditional elements even amid a rapidly-changing historical flow as today.
