  • Purpose: This study examines some successful and failed cases of Korean private universities' profitable business and explores the desirable economic value and direction of their profitable business business operations with a view to shedding light on some clues conducive to their financial health and quality education. Research design, data and methodology: This study reviews news articles, reports and literature to find out Korean universities' financial condition and examines some successful and failed examples of their corporations' profit-making business operations to suggest a direction. Results: Private universities suffer declining enrollments and/or tuition freeze but they lack in making efforts to secure financial health. The reviewed examples of private universities' profit-making business operations suggest both universities and their corporations should first assume the public accountability prior to engaging in diverse business activities. Conclusions: First, to remain financially healthy, university corporations should exert themselves to transform their low-profit-margin lands and buildings into high-profit-margin businesses and to credit the realized income to their school-expense accounts. And, the ultimate purpose of universities' profit-making business operations is to realize a decent income without prejudice to their public accountability for the country and community, while forging a virtuous cycle by investing the income for the betterment of their educational quality and competitiveness.

  • The paper investigates the factors that affect the decision of young Chinese consumers to buy high-end cosmetics. The study is based on the responses obtained by questionnaires from 400 respondents in Guangzhou, China. The information was collected and classified on the basis of gender, occupation, age and education in order to understand the main characteristics of the sample in a better way. The purposive, convenient and quota sampling techniques of non-probability sampling method were used. Besides this, the predictive test was carried out with 30 respondents to ensure the reliability and validity of the questionnaires. The data was put to descriptive statistical analysis and multiple regression analysis in order to verify the hypotheses. The data revealed that, while brand awareness does not affect the consumer attitude about the high-end cosmetics, other factors like product involvement, perceived quality, subjective norm, and word-of-mouth have significant effect on consumer's attitude and consumers' intention about high-end cosmetics. The findings of the study show that subjective norm, perceived value, word-of-mouth, and consumer attitude of cosmetic products highly affect consumers purchase intention of high-end cosmetic products. The research paper helps to form concrete and effective marketing strategy based on various aspects of consumer behavior for high-end cosmetics in China.

  • This paper examines the impact of university social responsibility on brand image and student satisfaction. Social responsibility impact on consumer behavior has been studied extensively. But the same impact has not been rigorously tested to the same extend in the education sector. Firstly, we analyze the perception of university social responsibility (USR) and its components, including (1) the quality of teaching programs, facilities, and academic staff; (2) supporting learning activities; and (3) human resource policies. Secondly, we investigate the relationship between university social responsibility, brand image, and student satisfaction. The study examined these relationships through a proposed economic model based on answers from a survey of 298 students at the University of Food Industry Ho Chi Minh City. From the above survey data, the author proceeds to quantify variables and, based on Cronbach's Alpha reliability coefficient, EFA factor analysis, and linear regression, to measure the impact of each social responsibility factor on business of the university and student satisfaction. The results show that university social responsibility actually affects the university's brand image and student satisfaction. Our findings suggest that universities should develop an appropriate marketing strategy to reinforce brand image and student satisfaction through the university social responsibility model.

  • Knowledge-Worker Productivity (KWP) has been influenced by Knowledge Management Process (KMP); however, past studies derived inconsistent findings of the relationship between the two variables. Additionally, the effect of KMP on KWP in the context of universities in Sri Lanka has not been adequately studied. Therefore, this present study aims to fill that gap by examining KMP elements' effect, namely knowledge creation, knowledge sharing, and usage on KWP, specifically the timeliness, proficiency, and independence of employees. This study also examines the role of employee engagements (i.e., intellectual, social, and affective) in mediating the effect of KMP on KWP. The questionnaire survey method was utilized to collect data from relevant university employees, i.e., lecturers, senior lecturers, and professors, whereby 264 valid responses were used in the analysis. The associations between KMP, Employee Engagement, and KWP were analyzed using the path analysis and bootstrapping methods. The outcomes demonstrated positive correlations between all three variables. Employee Engagement was shown to have a partial mediating effect on the KMP-KWP association. The general conclusion is that KWP is influenced by its capacity to increase employee engagement via KMP.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the determinants of intention to borrow consumer credit of Vietnamese people by applying the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) and extending it with several variables, including anxiety, perceived trust, and perceived financial costs extracted and adapted from the existing literature. A questionnaire survey was administered in the big cities of Vietnam to a total of 602 consumers. Structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques have been employed to investigate the relationship among intention determinants to borrow. Findings show that perceived usefulness mediates the impact of subjective norms on the intention to borrow consumer credit. At the same time, subjective norms also directly influence the intention to borrow. Notably, anxiety, perceived trust, perceived financial cost, perceived ease of use have no significant influence on intention to borrow. Meanwhile, education level is confirmed to have a moderate influence on intention to borrow consumer credit of Vietnamese people. However, there is not enough statistical evidence about the influence of gender and marital status on the intention to borrow consumer credit in Vietnam. Based on the findings of the Vietnamese consumer credit market, we proposed some suggestions to promote the growth of the market in the future.

  • Strategic management of universities is crucial for the regional competitiveness due to the high impact of universities on the economic growth of regions through entrepreneurial training and support. The study aimed to investigate the HEInnovate self-assessment tool, valuable in building entrepreneurship-oriented strategy, by considering the case of Turan University. The tool can be used to study entrepreneurial capabilities of the university and make strong management decisions. The self-assessment allows getting feedback from all stakeholders, including external ones, which helps to make institutional changes to influence the regional economic growth. The framework of the research is based on the theories of strategic management and regional competitiveness, which can be deployed with the HEInnovate self-assessment recommendations and findings. The research methodology comprises objective and functional approaches to system analysis. HEInnovate self-assessment by Turan university revealed some weaknesses in the university strategy and helped make some recommendations, namely, the university's entrepreneurial ecosystem must act as part of a regional business support ecosystem to provide input into local economic development, attract more international faculty and faculty with more practical experience, create an entrepreneurial culture across staff of the university, address a lack of internal structures to support staff, and improve university-business cooperation.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to analyze the measurement results of the financial comprehension test conducted ten times in order to study the financial comprehension. Research design, data, and methodology: In this study, correct answer rates in the Economics and Finance Literacy Certification Test were analyzed across ten rounds of tests taken by 6,662 high school students in Korea. Result: The analysis revealed that Korean high school students' level of financial literacy generally increased as the grade level increased, and the correct answer rates of students at autonomous high schools and special-purpose high schools were statistically different from those of students at general academic high schools and specialized high schools. Conclusion: We can therefore infer that students at specialized high schools face limitations in tackling financial problems due to their lack of proficiency in interpretation and calculation of data necessary for real life financial decision-making. In contrast, students at general academic high schools, special-purpose high schools, and autonomous high schools who do not learn finance as a part of their official curriculum at school were lacking in basic financial knowledge as well as knowledge about the financial system compared to students at specialized high schools, highlighting the need for a measure to address the deficiency.

  • Purpose - This study explores the role played by the government in spreading corporate green IT. Indeed, a lot of evidence is emerging that governments acting independently are not in a position of attaining the far end economic and social changes need for the realization of green IT. As much as matters about green IT was initiated by many governments. Research design, Data, and methodology - This study selected the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) as a research design. The PRISMA is recognized for its standard evidence reporting system and can provide adequate systematic review among previous studies. Result - A lot of consensus leads to the acquisition of the value of corporate green IT concerning the effectiveness of the collaboration. This study could obtain six suggestions from the systematic review, such as 'Rebalancing Government and Public Duties', 'Direct Regulation', 'Marketing Tools and Fiscal or Economic Measures', 'VNRP', 'Education for Decision Making', 'Latest Policy Trends within the G8 Nations'. Conclusion - The most challenging aspect when it comes to ensuring corporate green IT is the separation of economic growth from the perspectives regarding life qualities. According to the study (Falcone, 2020), this needs a second policy-oriented wedge concerning re-socialization with the desire of encouraging the development of the culture associated with the corporate green IT.
