  • This study investigated the antecedents and the performance impact of two types of Smartphone functions (communication vs. computing functions) in organizational environment and the moderating impact of Smartphone users' organizational roles. More specifically, identifying two distinct types of Smartphone functions such as communication functions and computing functions (including informational, social network, and resource management functions), we investigated the impact of three antecedents (Smartphone dependency, task mobility, and perceived critical mass) on the use of the two Smartphone functions and how organizational workers' perceived performance gains differ by using these two different Smartphone functions for their workplace activities. We tested our hypotheses with survey data collected from 176 organizational workers. Our findings suggest that Smartphone dependency, task mobility and perceived critical mass of Smartphone use are significantly associated with the use of the two different functions, and that the use of computing functions is more strongly associated with perceived performance gain than the use of communication functions. We also found that managerial roles played by individual workers differently moderate the impact of Smartphone use on perceived performance gain. The present findings enable researchers and practitioners to better understand the impact of Smartphone use in workplaces.

  • Globalization has been accelerated in today's business environment. In this situation, the opening of economies can be either an opportunity or a treat for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) who have limited resources. Especially, managerial perception to the opening of economies carries on significant meaning because managerial perception determines future responses and strategies. Therefore, this study examined which innovation activities are related with SMEs' positive perception to the opening of economies. The activities of innovation are classified by types of generic strategy. Also, this study scrutinized the moderating effects of external search strategy and market entry strategy. In order to test hypotheses, this study analyzed data on Korean manufacturing firms collected in the Korean Innovation Survey (KIS). As a result, SMEs conducting innovation for differentiation strategy perceived the opening of economies positively. Search breadth and search depth moderated this relationship negatively and the first entry strategy moderated this relationship positively.

  • This study aims to propose an assessment tool of port service quality (PSQ) in the context of container transport logistics (CTLs), by taking the perspectives from port users. The CTLs defined in this study are the relevant activities of serving the physical flows of a container box from a point of origin via a container port to a point of destination. To address the ports' role in collaboration between its channel members in CTLs, the PSQ measures for all port user groups (i.e. common PSQ measures) are selected based on the relevant CTLs activities involved by port, and its users within terminal/port area as well as throughout the CTLs chain. An importance-performance analysis (IPA) is applied as a diagnostic tool to analyse the status quo of Busan Port in CTLs contexts, by comparing the importance and performance (IP ) scores against each individual CTLs criterion. The findings from the IPA reveal that port managers and policy makers at the Busan Port should concentrate on six PSQ measures (i.e. SR1, SR4, ITS1, VAS1, VAS4, ICI3) to enhance PSQ in CTLs. However, four measures (i.e. ITS2, ITS3, ITS4, VAS2) are identified as a possible overkill, indicating an area of inefficiency where a remedial action of the cost-cutting decision is necessary. On the other hand, the Busan port shows an outstanding performance on four measures such as SR2, SR3, ICI1 and ICI2. The measures are not only important but also high performance. The study findings provide managerial guidance to port managers in Busan Port, in view of searching for managerial and operational strategies for sustainable port growth.

  • This study developed an integrated management framework for KM, consisting of four major management objects and organizational initiatives: managerial and technical initiatives. Based on the developed framework, it proposes a stage model of organizational KM from Initiation, Propagation, Integration to Networking stage with detail explanations focusing on management goals and activities. To validate the proposed stage model, this study conducted a preliminary study with a latent content analysis of 15 KM cases. Form the results, though is could not validate the time sequence of each stage because of the limited information of cases, it shows meaningful findings in that there are a kind of relationship among management goals, activities and characteristics of management object of cases.

  • The vehicle development process (VDP) is iterative in nature with numerous interactions and information flows between design groups and between development phases. The VDP has been changed from a sequential-functional development to a concurrent-team based approach. Concurrent execution of design activities may reduce the development lead-time, but it increases the managerial complexity in the VDP. A system dynamics model was developed to understand the transient behavior of parallel, overlap, and sequential processes in the VDP and to determine the optimal level of overlapping considering the development lead-time and total number of reworks. The simulation results showed that different execution processes should be used, depending upon the intensity of reworks.

  • Assimilation is defined as the extent to which the use of a technology diffuses across organizational work processes and becomes routinized in the activities associated with those processes. Assimilation is an important construct in the casual chain of influence from the organizational adoption of an information technology to the evidence of its impacts on business performance. Given a wide range of experiences with the effective assimilation of Web technologies. there is a need to discover how firms can institutionally encourage the managerial activities that will result in greater levels of technology assimilation. This study analyzes or shows which organizational and strategical factors like management belief. management participation. strategic investment rationale and coordination mechanism have impact on the assimilation of web technologies. Moreover. this research is tried under the different types of firms. manufacturing and service firms. The result shows that the management belief among the determinants had a significant effect on the assimilation of web technology. However. the result would be generalized with the inclusion of the psychological factors to the current model.

  • The Internet affects all economic activities. Physical world business must either adopt new digital strategies, launch new digital business to complement their physical world models, or be forced to completely revise their strategies. The purpose of this paper is to provide a framework that organizes the managerial decision-making process to assist managers in crafting and implementing e-business strategy. We applied the methodology to the case of KNK Educational Institute to explain the process. Core competence of KNK JUNIOR is researched according to our suggested methodology and activities and roles of KNK JUNIOR have been arranged.

  • The use of electronic mail and messenger software tools has been increased rapidly over a decade. Compared to the variety of research related to the relationship between personal psychological traits and communication modes, effects of human psychology on online activities have only recently become a focus of interest. This research analyzed the relationship between personal psychological type and online connectivity. We employed network analysis methodology and collected and analyzed data from 146 subjects. Significant differences in network measures were found among groups with different psychological style. Findings of the research can provide several implications for managerial activities regarding social connectivity.

  • Mechanical characteristics of nodular graphite cast iron has found to tan higher utilization to the gray cast iron. So, Nodular graphite cast iron is used as a basic material in mechanical industry. Great demand of Nodular graphite cast iron is expected to increase due to the sharp development in mechanical and automobile industry. Therefore, Nodular graphite cast iron requires not only good quality product but experienced skills in manufacturing process. But there exist a lot of difficulties to manufacture nodular graphite cast iron than gray cast iron in manufacturing process. In this study, the following topics are studied for good quality product of nodular graphite cast iron. $\circled1$ Activities of managerial staff. $\circled2$ Qualite control method in manufacturing process. $\circled3$ Manufacturing process system. As a result of the study, a intensive Quality control activities should be applied and reinforced at each stage of manufacturing process rather that at the last stage of final product.
