  • Coordinate measuring machines(CMMs) are used to obtain the dimensional information with micron accuracy. This paper is concerned with the development of the horizontal arm type coordinate measuring machine using open architecture controller. The coordinate measuring machine considered in this paper consists of three orthogonal axes in the x, y and z directions. Open architecture controller IS used to implement a measuring system which can be fulfill to various needs of endusers of coordinate measuring machines. The open architecture controller presented here is embodied in personal computers. The programs and man-machine interfaces(MM1) are developed for various measuring conditions. Through the computer simulation based on the mathematical models of the coordinate measuring machine, control parameters are optimally tuned.

  • Generally, virtual machine platform is composed of a compiler, an assembler, and VM(Virtual Machine). To develop it, the design of VMC(Virtual Machine Code) is an essential task. And it is very important to verify the virtual machine platform. To do this and furthermore to execute VMC, it needs to implement VMC execution system using compiling method, interpreting method, or decompiling method. In this paper, we suggested and implemented the executing system of VMC using decompiling method out of three methods to execute the VMC. In our implementation, the VMC is SIL(Standard Intermediate Language) that is an intermediate code of EVM(Embedded Virtual Machine). Actually, we verified the usefulness of the decompiling method. And the decompiling method suggested in this paper can be used to minimize the mistake in developing Virtual machine platform.

  • The report of the Korean National Statistics Office shows that Korea has been emerging as an elderly society rapidly, and it will burden the Korean society with excessive social welfare cost for the aged in the near future. If we can help the aged to live healthy in some ways, the social burden for the health care of the aged will be lessened. In order to help physical and mental health of the elderly person, we have developed an exercise apparatus called intelligent arm wrestling machine system. This paper presents the mechanism and scenario of the proposed intelligent arm wrestling machine system. The proposed mechanism and scenario are peculiar. In particular, the proposed scenario determines randomly who will win between the man and the robot and generates a game process that the arm-wrestler cannot predict in advance.

  • This paper presented a virtual manufacturing simulation system by using Virtual Reality Modeling Language (VRML) and Finite Element Method(FEM). The system is to simulate forging operation. Stress distributions and deformation profiles as well as the operation of forging machine can be simulated and visualized in the web. Since the forging machine, user interface, and specimen were modeled by using Java and VRML, the forging machine and analysis results were browsed and integrated on the web that is interfaced to users through EAI to show the whole forging simulation. The developed system realized the working environment virtually so that education and experiment of forging process could be performed effectively even on the PC.

  • The signals that can be obtained from rotating machines often convey the information of machine. For example, if the machine under investigation has faults, then these signals often have pulse signals, embedded in noise. Therefore the ability to detect the fault signal in noise is major concern of fault diagnosis of rotating machine, In this paper, minimum variance cepstrum (MV cepstrum) . which can easily detect impulse in noise, has been applied to detect the type of faults of ball bearing system. To test the performance of this technique. various experiments have been performed for ball bearing elements that have man made faults. Results show that minimum variance cepstrum can easily detect the periodicity due to faults and also shows the pattern of excitation by the faults.

  • A cam profile CNC grinding machine is developed for manufacture of high precision contoured cams. The developed machine is composed of the high precision spindle using boll bearings, the high stiffness box layer type bed and the three axis CNC controller with the high resolution AC servo motor. In this paper, structural and modal analysis for the developed machine is carried out to check the design criteria of the machine. The analysis is carried out by FEM simulation using the commercial software, CATIA V5. The machine is modeled by placing proper shell and solid finite elements. And also, this paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of a grinding machine. The weak part of the machine is found by the experimental evaluation. The results provide structure modification data for good dynamic behaviors. And safety of the machine was confirmed by the modal analysis of modified machine design. Finally, the cam profile grinding machine was successfully developed.

Multi-functional Automated Cultivation for House Melon;Development of Tele-robotic System (시설멜론용 다기능 재배생력화 시스템;원격 로봇작업 시스템 개발)

  • In this paper, a prototype tele-operative system with a mobile base was developed in order to automate cultivation of house melon. A man-machine interactive hybrid decision-making system via tele-operative task interface was proposed to overcome limitations of computer image recognition. Identifying house melon including position data from the field image was critical to automate cultivation. And it was not simple especially when melon is covered partly by leaves and stems. The developed system was composed of 5 major modules: (a) main remote monitoring and task control module, (b) wireless remote image acquisition and data transmission module, (c) three-wheel mobile base mounted with a 4 dof articulated type robot manipulator (d) exchangeable modular type end tools, and (e) melon storage module. The system was operated through the graphic user interface using touch screen monitor and wireless data communication among operator, computer, and machine. Once task was selected from the task control and monitoring module, the analog signal of the color image of the field was captured and transmitted to the host computer using R.F. module by wireless. A sequence of algorithms to identify location and size of a melon was performed based on the local image processing. Laboratory experiment showed the developed prototype system showed the practical feasibility of automating various cultivating tasks of house melon.

  • Without the interference of man in traditional single-device control system P2M way to control the device by a person to the development of the Internet of Things it was changing the way the M2M communication between devices possible. The attention of the user on the IoT to this development, but this increase was caused problems the system is insufficient to help the understanding of the IoT technologies to meet them. Therefore, to understand the operation of the IoT technology system that can easily expressed is required. In this paper, we design and implement a simulation system that can monitor the process of relationships between devices, such as when a user event occurs, the sensor, SNS and the XML-based collaboration to meet users' needs. Further, the respective functions for the maintenance and updating of the simulation system is proposed to make API.

An Automatic Transfer System of the Path for an Unmanned Machine in the Greenhouse (온실내 무인작업기를 위한 경로 자동변환 시스템 개발)

  • Agricultural machine is currently operated by man power in the greenhouse, which is oppressively hot and humid, and is for a farmer not to work in comfortable circumstances. In the future, agricultural machine will not have to operate by man power, but it will need do by unmanned power. In order to put into the automatic and unmanned operation of agricultural machine, this system was designed and built to move through the fixed path in the greenhouse. This system was composed of guiders(wires), a limit switch, an operating equipment, its software for automatizing a machine in the greenhouse. The guider was connected between the wall pillars, and the equipment was able to slide over the fixed path made of the guider, by rectilinear and rotational motion. A micro mouse was developed with a stepping motor to calculate on the success rate of its operation with the system As might be expected, this system with the micro mouse was moved the moved the paths with a success rate of 100% on the flat plane surface in our laboratory. However, on the sand plane or the other materials plane, the success rate was not better than 80%. If the micro mouse were well operated, the success rate was would be 100%. Based on the results of this research, this system would be expected to operate well on the path made of a simple wire.

  • Experimental modal analysis is an effective tool to investigate the dynamic behavior of machining centers. This paper presents the measurement system and experimental investigation on the modal analysis of machining centers. The modal analysis shows the weak part of the machining center. An important local model of spindle in our experiment, which influences the dynamics of machining process, is proposed in this paper. The results provide the foundation of structure modification for good dynamic behaviors.
