  • This paper proposes the development of an advanced Risk Management System (RMS) using Risk-Based Methodologies (RBM) specifically tailored for addressing construction defects in industrial plants. Urbanization and industrialization demand robust frameworks to handle the complexities and safety concerns in construction projects. Traditional risk management often overlooks critical aspects such as persistent construction defects. This paper discusses the development of an innovative Risk Management System (RMS) that integrates Risk-Based Methodologies (RBM) specifically for construction defect mitigation in industrial settings. The study centers around the implementation of Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) techniques, tailored to enhance traditional risk management systems. This includes developing a specialized risk assessment tool alongside an online management platform, designed to provide continuous monitoring and comprehensive management of construction risks. The proposed system-RBE-i (Risk-Based Execution for Installation)-focuses on identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks effectively, utilizing a systematic approach that integrates seamlessly into existing construction workflows. The RBE-i system's core lies in its ability to conduct thorough risk analyses and real-time data provision. It uses digital technologies to improve communication, operational efficiency, and decision-making processes across construction projects. By applying these methodologies, the system enhances safety and ensures more efficient project execution by preemptively identifying potential risks and addressing them promptly. Field applications of RBE-i have demonstrated its effectiveness in significantly reducing construction defects, thus validating its potential as a transformative tool in construction risk management. The system sets new industry standards by shifting from reactive to proactive risk management practices, ultimately leading to safer, more reliable, and cost-effective construction operations. In conclusion, the RMS developed through this study not only addresses the pressing needs of construction risk management but also proposes a paradigm shift towards more proactive, structured, and technology-driven practices. The successful integration of the RBE-i system across various pilot projects illustrates its significant potential to improve overall project outcomes, making it an invaluable addition to the field of construction management.

  • This paper explores the recent advancements in speech recognition technology, focusing on the integration of artificial intelligence to improve recognition accuracy in challenging environments, such as noisy or low-quality audio conditions. Traditional speech recognition methods often suffer from performance degradation in noisy settings. However, the application of deep neural networks (DNN) has led to significant improvements, enabling more robust and reliable recognition in various industries, including banking, automotive, healthcare, and manufacturing. A key area of advancement is the use of Silent Speech Interfaces (SSI), which allow communication through non-speech signals, such as visual cues or other auxiliary signals like ultrasound and electromyography, making them particularly useful for individuals with speech impairments. The paper further discusses the development of multi-modal speech recognition, combining both audio and visual inputs, which enhances recognition accuracy in noisy environments. Recent research into lip-reading technology and the use of deep learning architectures, such as CNN and RNN, has significantly improved speech recognition by extracting meaningful features from video signals, even in difficult lighting conditions. Additionally, the paper covers the use of self-supervised learning techniques, like AV-HuBERT, which leverage large-scale, unlabeled audiovisual datasets to improve performance. The future of speech recognition technology is likely to see further integration of AI-driven methods, making it more applicable across diverse industries and for individuals with communication challenges. The conclusion emphasizes the need for further research, especially in languages with complex morphological structures, such as Korean

  • Korea has a large number of landslides due to localized torrential downpours and typhoons in summer, causing great human damage and economic losses. In particular, most roads in the Gangwon area are located in mountains, making them expose to a great risk of landslide. Therefore, it is urgent to prepare countermeasures to prevent these landslides. Necessary for that are various slope investigation and high-tech observation techniques for slope maintenance. Recently there have been slope observation techniques using optical fiber sensors, GPS, CCD cameras, Total Station and satellite images; however, these are not used much due to poor economic feasibility, low accuracy and efficiency. This study evaluated accuracy of displacement extraction of model slopes using terrestrial LiDAR to determine its application to landslide monitoring. As a result, it can measure several mm of minute displacement with high accuracy and help to rapidly obtain geographical features of slope.

  • The research of the variability gains more gravity in component-based software development, because it helps to extend the reusability of the component. A domain-specific component supports the more variability, the wider scope that the component can be applied to. However, the more variability included in a component, It makes the size of a component bigger, and the cost to construct the component is rises. As a result, this disturbs making an optimized system. In this paper, we classify the variability into 3 types, according to their features. And we propose some implementation techniques for each type based COM. Moreover, we also propose a process to analysis and design the variability with their artifacts, which includes some tasks from variability extraction to implementation of it. This proposed process can be applied as a part of the component developing process.
