Tuning Learning Rate in Neural Network Using Fuzzy Model (퍼지 모델을 이용한 신경망의 학습률 조정)

  • The neural networks are a famous model to learn the nonlinear function or nonlinear system. The main point of neural network is that the difference actual output from desired output is used to update weights. Usually, the gradient descent method is used for the learning process. On training process, if learning rate is too large, neural networks hardly guarantee convergence of neural networks. On the other hand, if learning rate is too small, the training spends much time. Therefore, one major problem in use of neural networks are to decrease the teaming time while neural networks are guaranteed convergence. In this paper, we suggest the model of fuzzy logic to neural networks to calibrate learning rate. This method is to tune learning rate dynamically according to error and demonstrates the optimization of training.

  • Heart rate may be a very important parameter in human health. To extract heart rate, the electrocardiogram(ECG) is commonly used. But the ECG acquisition procedure is somewhat complex. On the other hand, the acquisition of pulse wave or photoplethysmogram(PPG) is very easy. However, the peak of PPG is not so sharp as ECG. This study tries to enhance the performance of period detection in PPG signal. The method uses the average slopes around the main peak. The crossing point of the increasing and the decreasing slopes is selected as the peak point of heart rate period. The proposed method showed smoothed heart rate graph and reduced irregularity in heart rate values.

Influence of Evaluation Methods for Fatigue Crack Growth Process (피로균열 성장과정에 대한 평가방법의 영향)

  • The distribution of fatigue crack growth rate is subjected to the measuring interval and calculated method of growth rate. In this paper, in order to establish the method of determining the distribution of fatigue crack growth rate, which ignores those influences, a series of fatigue crack growth experiments and measuring intervals of crack length calculated reasonable are presented. The main conclusions obtained are summarized as follows: 1) As a result of the ΔP constant test and ΔK constant test, it is thought that an approximate measuring interval of 0.3~0.7mm is reasonable, which allows for few errors and is little subjected to the calculated method of crack growth rate. 2) After generally comparing the error estimation by using the experimental data of CCT specimen with the error rating of the CT specimens, it is possible that the fatigue test has few errors within the measuring interval, ξ(Δa/W)=0.0067~0.017, regardless of the dimension of specimen geometry.

  • In this paper, our main issue is that establishing the control procedure of continuous gas flow rate according to combustion fan RPM. For this, first, we decide the optimum operating condition of gas swirl burner through analysis of combustion characteristics - thermal efficiency, combustion efficiency and exhaust gases such as CO, $CO_{2}$, $O_{2}$, $NO_{x}$ and THC. Second, fuel gas flow rate of gas valve is decided with considering excess air ratio and combustion fan RPM is decided by the target of combustion air flow rate. Finally, experimental operating equation is acquired by regression for gas valve and combustion fan. This equation is the control equation of continuous gas flow rate and always gas flow rate is decided by combustion fan operating RPM.

  • Electrospray deposited films of poly(vinylidene fluoride) were prepared with various conditions. A model has been developed, which provides the state of the electrosprayed droplet at impact. With a combination of the experimental films and the model calculations, it can be shown that growth rate, the increase of the sprayed solution on the substrate per second, defines the film morphology in electrospray deposition. Growth rate indicates which factors play the main role in the film formation process. The most important factors are liquid flow, surface tension and shear rate. The model can calculate the shear rate and it is shown that PVDF, and most likely polymers in general, has a large range of growth rates, where the morphology only depends on the shear rate of the depositing droplet. This method can also be used to describe electrospray deposition of other compounds.

  • In this paper, a new dual-rate digital control technique for the Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy system is suggested. The proposed method takes account of the stabilizablity of the discrete-time T-S fuzzy system at the fast-rate sampling points. Our main idea is to utilize the lifted control input. The proposed approach is to obtain the dual-rate discrete-time T-S fuzzy system by discretizing the overall dynamics of the T-S fuzzy system with the lifted control, and then to derive the sufficient conditions for the stabilization in the sense of the Lyapunov asymptotic stability for this system.

  • In this paper, we present neural network for control of Left Ventricular Assist Device(LVAD) system with a pneumatically driven mock circulation system. Beat rate(BR), Systole-Diastole Rate(SDR) and flow rate are collected as the main variables of the LVAD system. System modeling is completed using the neural network with input variables(BR, SBR, their derivatives, actual flow) and output variable(actual flow). It is necessary to apply high perfomance control techniques, since the LVAD system represent nonlinear and time-varing characteristics. Fortunately. the neural network can be applied to control of a nonlinear dynamic system by learning capability In this study, we identify the LVAD system with neural network and control the LVAD system by PID controller and neural network feedforward controller. The ability and effectiveness of controlling the LVAD system using the proposed algorithm will be demonstrated by experiment.

The Effect of Income Transfer on Poverty Rate (소득이전의 빈곤완화 및 빈곤이행 효과에 관한 연구)

  • The primary purpose of this study is to analyze the decreasing effect of public and private income transfers on poverty rate. Two year data of Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS, 1998, 1999) are used for the analysis, and 1/2 of median income and 1/3 of mean income are adopted to measure poverty rate. Although private income transfer contributes more to reduce the rate than the public transfer, the main effect for decreasing poverty rate is forced by the wage. Statistically significant variables that affect to the exit of poverty based on the logistic regression analysis are number of family members(-), wage(+), property income(+), social insurance benefit(+), and the transfer income(+). Therefore, the future policy should be more related with the active labor market policy for developing better human resources among the poor family.

  • The effect of chemical composition on mechanical properry and corrosion resistance of austenitic stainless steel was investigated. The main results obtained were as follows : 1. There was a linear relationship between the tensile strength of stainless steel and the $Cr_{eq}/Ni_{eq}$. The larger the $Cr_{eq}/Ni_{eq}$ was the higher the tensile strength of stainless steel. 2. There was a good correlationship between $Cr_{eq}/Ni_{eq}$ and intergranular, gerneral corrsion rate. 3. Intergranular corrosion rate decreased linearly with increasing Cr content. 4. General corrosion rate decreased linearly with increasing Ni content. 5. Logarithm corrosion rate of intergranular and general corrosion has a linear relationship with all of the factor of $Cr_{eq}/Ni_{eq}$, Cr and Ni content.
