  • The Prussian Blue Analogue(PBA) has three dimensional structure and the metal - organic framework material, and it has a variety configurations depending on the type of organic ligands. PBA has been receving an attention in the fields of biosensors, optical, catalytic, and hydrogen storage device. Also, it is an environmental friendly substance with a chemical stability. In addition, PBA is widely used in the filed of adsorption art since we can adjust the size of the fine pores. In this study, we synthesized $Mn_3[Fe(CN)_6]_2$, an organometallic framework chains by using a hydrothermal synthesis method. We used $K_4[Fe(CN)_6]$ and $MnCl_2$ as precursors. We also produced a manganese iron oxide, by baking the synthesized material. The effect of the size and shape of the particles was examined by controling pH of the precursor solution, the molar concentration of the precursor, and reaction time as the experimental variables. Synthesized absorbent was analyzed by XRD, SEM, FT-IR, UV-Vis, and TG / DTA to evaluate the adsorption properties of several dyes.

  • Betamethasone propionate, an anti-inflammatory glucocorticosteroid, was detected in cosmetics with no indication on the label of this compound as an ingredient. The product was formulated as a topical spray or shampoo and labeled to contain zinc pyrithione as the active ingredient. A thin-layer chromatographic analysis was carried out on silica gel plates to provide a first indication about the presence of a compound with steroid structure and reactivity; then high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) separation allowed the identification of the corticosteroid agent and its quantification. To identify the corticosteroid agent from these commercial samples we collected the fractions suspected to have ketol steroids by prep HPLC and identified the compound as betamethasone propionate by NMR and MS spectrometry. Then we synthesized the standard for the betamethasone 17-propionate and 21-propionate and quantitate the corticosteroids from the sample by HPLC with that standards. By this method we identified the corticosteroid compounds from some commercial cosmetics such as zinc pyrithione sprays. The finding of betamethasone propionate in the products was shown by comparison to an authenticated standard of betamethasone propionate by retention time on reverse-phase HPLC. Two of the tested products contained betamethasone propionate at the levels of 0.005 ${\sim}$ 0.02% and the others were free of betamethasone propionate.

  • To reduce the chattering errors of reed switch sensors in the automatic remote measurement of water meter a reed switch sensor was analyzed and improved. The operation of reed switch sensors can be described as a mechanical contact switch by approximation of permanent magnet piece to generate an electrical pulse. The reed switch sensors are used mostly in measurement application to detect the rotational or translational displacement. To apply for water flow measurement devices, the reed switch sensors should keep high reliability. They are applied for the electronic digital type of water flow meters. The reed switch sensor is just mounted simply on the conventional mechanical type flow meter. A small magnet is attached on a pointer of the water meter counter rotor. Inside the reed sensor two steel leaf springs make mechanical contact and apart repeatedly as rotation of flow meter counter. The counting electrical contact pulses can be converted as the water flow amount. The MCU sends the digital flow rate data to the server using the wireless communication network. But the digital data is occurred difference or won by chattering noise. The reed switch sensor contains chattering error by it self at the force equivalent position. The vibrations such as passing vehicle near to the switch sensor installed location causes chattering. In order to reduce chattering error, most system uses just software methods, for example using filter algorithm and also statistical calibration methods. The chattering errors were reduced by changing leaf spring structure using mechanical characteristics.

  • Generally, for conventional 3-D Hall sensor it is general that the sensitivity for $B_z$ is about 1/10 compared with those for $B_x$ or $B_y$. Therefore, in this work, we proposed 3-D Hall sensor with new structures. We have increased the sensitivity about 6 times to form the trench using anisotropic etching. And we have increased the sensitivity for the $B_z$ by 80 % compared with those of $B_x$ and $B_y$ using deposition of the ferromagnetic thin films on the bottom surface of the wafer to concentrate the magnetic fluxes. Sensitivities of the fabricated sensor with Ni/Fe film for $B_x,\;B_y$, and $B_z$ were measured as 361mV/T, 335mV/T, and 286mV/T, respectively. It has also showed sine wave of Hall voltages over a $360^{\circ}$ rotation. A packaged sensing part was $1.2{\times}1.2mm^2$. The measured linearity of the sensor was within ${\pm}3%$ of error. Resolution of the fabricated sensor was measured by $1{\times}10^{-5}T$.

  • We have investigated the electric resistivity structure of the fault zone located in the Hongseong area where a big earthquake with M 5.0 occurred in 1978. Usually, Electric and Electromagnetic methods are broadly operated in the field of engineering works since these methods are effective to understand the distribution of geological weak zones - fault or fracture zones. We have conducted the dipole-dipole array resistivity method and MT(magnetotelluric) method and interpreted the resistivity distribution of the fault zone with the aid of various inversion methods. An MT survey was performed at 18 points along a 2.9 km survey line perpendicular to the fault line and a magnetic dipole source was used to enhance the S/N ratio in the high frequency. A Electric dipole-dipole array resistivity survey with the dipole length of 50 meters was carried out perpendicular to the fault. In view of two survey results, the fault marks the boundary between two opposite resistivity structures, especially the low resistivity zone is exhibited deeply through the prospective fault line. The result that the low resistivity zone is located at the center of the fault zone corresponds with the fact that the fault zone of the Hongseong area is active. We expect these results to provide basic information about the physical properties of fault zones in Korea.

  • Recently, while global concern over offshore resources exploration and development is being increased rapidly, offshore plant industry is highlighted as an industry of high added value. Along with this global trend, domestic concern over offshore plant development is being increased as well. In the overseas case, a marine geotechnical survey guideline for confirming characteristics of seabed sediments is available at the time of installation of offshore plant but such guideline is not available in our country. In this study, survey techniques fit for domestic marine environment was applied according to overseas guideline at southern coastal area, Korea. Among the marine geophysical survey techniques being proposed abroad, magnetic survey and seabed photograph were excluded. However, highly reliable data analysis was enabled for marine geophysical survey, which includes in-situ coring investigation and laboratory soil test. In addition, continuous ocean current survey was included to find scour potential due to the current around the offshore plant. Although coring depth is not so deep, we predicted geological structure through the analysis of amplitude features of seismic data. Characteristics of seabed sediments cold be obtained regionally and directly through combined analysis of marine geophysical survey data and coring data.

  • Magnetotelluric (MT) methods are widely applied as an effective exploration technique to geothermal surveys. Two-dimensional (2-D) analysis is frequently used to investigate a complicated subsurface structure in a geothermal region. A 2-D finite-element method (FEM) is usually applied to the MT analysis, but we must pay attention to the accuracy of so-called auxiliary fields. Rodi (1976) proposed an algorithm of improving the accuracy of auxiliary fields, and named it as the MOM method. Because it introduces zeros into the diagonal elements of coefficient matrix of the FEM total equation, a pivoting procedure applied to the symmetrical band matrix makes the numerical solution far less efficient. The MOM method was devised mainly for the inversion analysis, in which partial derivatives of both electric and magnetic fields with respect to model parameters are required. In the case of forward modeling, however, we do not have to resort to the MOM method; there is no need of modifying the coefficient matrix, and the auxiliary fields can be elicited from the regular FEM solution. The computational efficiency of the MOM method, however, can be greatly improved through a sophisticated rearrangement of the total equation.

  • We have prepared $MnFe_2O_4$ nanoparticles with polyol method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties were measured by using X-ray diffraction(XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) and $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy. The high resolution transmission electron microscope(HRTEM) shows uniform nanoparticle-sizes with $6{\sim}8$ nm. The crystal structure is found to be single-phase cubic spinel with space group of Fd3m. The lattice constant of $MnFe_2O_4$ nanparticles is determined to be $8.418{\pm}0.001{\AA}$. $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectrum of $MnFe_2O_4$ nanparticles at room temperature(RT) shows a superparamagnetic behavior. In VSM analysis, the diagnosis of the superparamagnetic behavior is also shown in hysteresis loop at RT. $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectrum at 4.2K shows that the well developed two sextets are with different hyperfine field $H_{hfA}=498$(A-site) and $H_{hfB}=521$(B-site) kOe.

  • The $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticle was synthesized by the hot-injection method while varying the injection time of the precursor solution. The crystal structure was determined to be cubic inverse spinel with space group of Fd-3m based on X-ray diffraction (XRD) measurements and the morphology of the prepared $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticle was studied with a high-resolution transmission electron microscope (HR-TEM). When the precursor solution was injected for 0.5 min, the size of the $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticle was 7.63 nm, while the size of the obtained particle was 21.27 nm with the injection time of 60 min. The magnetic properties of the prepared $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticle were investigated by both vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM) and $^{57}Co$ M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy at various temperatures. From the hyperthermia measurement, we observed that the temperature of the $Fe_3O_4$ nanoparticle powder reached around $120^{\circ}C$ under 250 Oe at 50 kHz, when the injection time of the precursor solution was 60 min.

  • The crystallographic properties and cationic distribution of $M_{0.2}Fe_{2.8}O_4$ (M =Mn, Ni, Cu) and $Fe_3O_4$ thin films prepared by sol-gel method have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and conversion electron M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy (CEMS). The ionic valence, preferred site, and hyperfine field of Fe ions of the ferrites could be obtained by analyzing the CEMS spectra. The $M_{0.2}Fe_{2.8}O_4$ films were found to maintain cubic spinel structure as in $Fe_3O_4$ with the lattice constant slightly decreased for Ni substitution and increased for Mn and Cu substitution from that of $Fe_3O_4$. Analyses on the CEMS data indicate that $Mn^{2+}$ and $Ni^{2+}$ ions substitute octahedral $Fe^{2+}$ sites mostly, while $Cu^{2+}$ ions substitute both the octahedral and tetrahedral sites. The observed intensity ratio $A_B/A_A$ of the CEMS subspectra of the samples exhibited difference from the theoretical value. It is interpreted as due to the effect of the M substitution for A and B on the Debye temperature of the site. The relative line-broadening of the B-site CEMS subspectra can be explained by the dispersion of magnetic hyperfine fields due to random distribution of M cations in the B sites.
