  • The dependence of the magnetoimpedance effect (MI) on magnetic properties has been investigated in mumetal thin films prepared by rf magnetron sputtering. Coercivity of thin films prepared at 400 W was about 0.4 Oe, and the magnetic anisotropy field of films deposited under a uniaxial magnetic field decreased with increasing film thickness. The saturation magnetization of mumetal films increased with rising input power and thickness and was smaller than that of permalloy films. Transverse incremental Permeability (TPR) of films of 1$\mu m$ thick increased with increasing effective permeability. The magneto impedance ratio (MIR) was proportional to TPR in films 1$\mu m$ thick but in spite of lower effective permeability at higher thicknesses, MIR increased due to skin effect. The height of the double peaks in the MIR curves decreased with decreasing anisotropy and thickness. The maximum MIR value for a 4$\mu m$ thick 75% at 36.5 MHz.

  • Permalloys were successfully fabricated by melt drag casting in the present study, and their microstructure and consequent magnetic properties have been investigated as a function of Si content. In order to understand the relationship between magnetic properties and Si content, microstructure and texture were observed and phase analysis were performed by TEM. The effective permeability went through a maximum value at $2\%$ Si and then decreased with increasing Si content. Increasing Si content enlarged grain size, which resulted in improvement of permeability. However, over-added Si caused the formation of $Ni_3Fe$ order phase so that $5\%$ Si added permalloys had the smallest permeability.

  • In designing high efficiency electrical machines, calculation of iron loss is very important. And it is reported that in the induction motor and in the T-joint of 3 phase transformer, there occurred rotational magnetic field and much iron loss is generated owing to this field. In this paper, rotational power loss in the electrical machine under rotational magnetic field is discussed. Until now, loss analysis is based on the magnetic properties under alternating field. And with this one dimensional magnetic propertis, it is difficult to express iron loss under rotational field. In this paper, we used two dimensional magnetic property data for the numerical calculation of rotational power loss. We used finite element method for calculation and the analysis model is two dimensional magnetic property measurement system. We used permeability tensor instead of scalar permeability to present two dimensional magnetic properties. And in this case, we cannot uniquely define energy functional because of the asymmetry of the permeability tensor, so Galerkin method is used for finite element analysis.

  • In this study, we investigated the electromagnetic properties of Mn-Zn ferrite doped with rare earth oxide (Dy$_2$O$_3$, Er$_2$O$_3$). The main composition is 52mo1% $\alpha$-Fe$_2$O$_3$, 25mo1% Mn$_3$O$_4$23mo1% ZnO and doped with them(0.05wt%~0.25wt%, step:0.05wt%). An experimental process has advanced by conventional ferrimagnetism manufacturing that was prepared by standard ceramic techniques. The XRD pattern of all doped sample were observed spinel and secondary phase. The density of sample were measured nearly constant value. As increased the additive, resistivity, initial permeability and real component of the series complex permeability increased with setting limits each other. In case of Mn-Zn ferrite excess doped with them, resistivity, initial permeability and real component of the series complex permeability decreased and magnetic loss increased in proportion to increasing the additive.

  • This paper proposed that the eddy-current measurement method can be used a means of in-process measuring the hardening depth in Laser surface treatment process. Also, this paper deal with the numerical analysis of magnetic flux distribution and experimental result of measurement. In Laser heat treatment process of steels, a thin layer of the substrate is rapidly heated to austenitizing temperature and subsequently cooled at a very fast rate due to the self-quenching by heat conduction into the bulk body, to produce a martensite structure which have low magnetic permeability. The eddy-current measurement method depends on the properties of material to be measured such as electric conductivity, magnetic permeability and geometry. In this paper, the hardening depth was measured by detecting relevant magnetic permeability changes caused by heat treatment of steels.

  • In this study, a measuring system of the initial permeability of soft-ferrite powder was developed by using a differential transformer coil. and was investigated demagnetizing factors. Magnetic powder is extensively used for a magnetic fluid and microwave absorber materials etc. In these applications, it is very important for us to measure the initial permeability of magnetic ceramic powder. Unfortunately there are not any measuring equipment and method directly up to the present.

  • We studied the physical properties of $Co_3$$O_4$-added Ni-Zn ferrite which were sintered at 1050~110$0^{\circ}C$ for 2 hours. X-ray diffraction showed a spinel structure, and optical microscopy showed grain sizes of 5 to 10 $\mu\textrm{m}$. As the sintering temperature was increased from $1050^{\circ}C$ to $1070^{\circ}C$, the initial permeability and magnetic induction increased, and both of the loss factor and the coercive force decreased. The Curie temperatures were about $^234~245{\circ}C$ with added $Co_3$$O_4$. The initial permeability was 350 to 420 and maximum magnetic induction density and coercive force 4870G to 4980G and 0.15 Oe to 0.21 Oe, respectively which were similar to those of Ni-Zn ferrite synthesized in the conventional process. The frequency of specimen was in the range of 1MHz to 300MHz. In the plot of initial permeability vs. frequencies, a $180^{\circ}C$ rotation of the magnetic domain could be perceived in a broad band of microwave before and after the resonance frequency.

  • We have studied properties(crystal structure, density, absorption, contraction, initial permeability, and permeability) of Ni$_{0.175-x}$Cu$_{x}$Zn$_{0.33}$Fe$_{0.495}$ (x=0~0.175) ferrites with various NiO and CuO, because of development of materials for high frequency inductor. The XRD peaks of all of samples were observed only spine이 phase. As a results of the density, absorption rate, and shrinkage rate, the grain growth progressed rapidly in x=0.1 at 95$0^{\circ}C$, x=0.075 at 105$0^{\circ}C$, and x=0.025 at 115$0^{\circ}C$ for 3 hours. Initial permeability increased with increasing CuO concentration until x=0.1, and then decreased. The complex permeability as a function frequency were high values at sintered 105$0^{\circ}C$ fotr3 hours in x=0.075, 0.1., 0.1.1.

  • This study investigated the magnetic properties and frequency dispersion of complex permeability of Ni-Zn-Co ferrites used for magnetic shielding in near field communication (NFC) system. The sintered specimens of $(Ni_{0.7}Zn_{0.3})_{1-x}Co_xFe_2O_4$ composition were prepared by the conventional ceramic processing. The coercive force and saturation magnetization were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer. The complex permeability was measured by RF impedance analyzer in the range of 1 MHz~1.8 GHz. The coercive force increased and saturation magnetization decreased with increasing the Co substitution. The real and imaginary parts of complex permeability decreased and the resonance frequency increased with Co substitution, which was attributed to the increase in crystal anisotropy field and reduction in saturation magnetization. The effect of Co substitution could be found in reducing the magnetic loss to nearly zero at the operating frequency of NFC (13.56 MHz).
