One of the major problem encountered in nuclear plants and satellites design isEMI (Electro-Magnetic Interference) and EMC (Electro-Magnetic Compatibility). Here, our focus is to implement the test board for checking SEU (Single EventUpsets); the effects of protons on the electronic system. The SEU results from thelevel change of stored information due to photon radiation and temperature in thespace environment. The impact of SEU on PLD (Programmable Logic Devices)technology is most apparent in ROM/SRAM/DRAM devices wherein the state ofstorage cell can be upset. In this paper, a simple and powerful test techniques issuggested, and the results are presented for the analysis and future reference. In ourexperiment, the proton radiation facilitv (having the energy of 50 MeV with a beamcurrent of 60 uA of cyclotron) available at KIRAMS (Korea Institute of RadiologicalMedical Sciences) has been applied on a commercially available SRAM manufacturedby Hynix Semiconductor Company.
Especially, demands for the noise reduction of mold transformer has been becoming an common issue because it has been used mainly at the residence area such as building and ship. So, this paper investigates the noise source and countermeasure of mold transformer radiated high noise abnormally. The result of impact hammering test for core of transformer ascertains the core resonance by harmonics of line frequency and high noise can be reduced to avoid core resonance by changing torque strength of tie rod. Magnetic field analysis is performed to identify the reason that noise of V-phase is higher than U and W-phase in the normal condition. It is the cause that flux density and magnetic force of V-phase is higher than the other phase respectively.
Nowadays power quality effects on induction motors have gained significant attention due to wide application of these motors in industry. The impact of grid voltage fluctuations on the induction motor behavior is one of the important issues to be studied by power engineers. The degree of iron saturation is a paramount factor affecting induction motors performance. This paper investigates the effects of voltage fluctuations on motor magnetic saturation based on the harmonic content of airgap flux density by finite element method (FEM). It is clarified that the saturation harmonics under normal range of voltage fluctuations have not changed significantly with respect to pure sinusoidal conditions. Experimental results on a 1.1 kW, 380 V, 50 Hz, 2 pole induction motor are employed to validate the accuracy of the simulation results.

Current investigation aims to analyze the characteristics of magnetohydrodynamic boundary layer flow of bioconvection Casson fluid in the presence of nano-size particles over a permeable and non-linear stretchable surface. Fluid passes through the Darcy-Forchheimer permeable medium. Effect of different parameter such as Darcy-Forchheimer, porosity parameter, magnetic parameter and Brownian factor are investigated. Increasing Brownian factor leads to the rapid random movement of nanosize particles in fluid flows which shows an expansion in thermal boundary layer and enhances the nanofluid temperature more rapidly. For large values of Darcy-Forchheimer, magnetic parameter and porosity factor the velocity profile decreases. Higher values of velocity slip parameter cause decreasing trend in momentum layer with velocity profile.

Magnetic flux ropes, often observed during intervals of interplanetary coronal mass ejections, have long been recognized to be critical in space weather. In this work, we focus on magnetic flux rope structure but on a much smaller scale, and not necessarily related to interplanetary coronal mass ejections. Using near-Earth solar wind advanced composition explorer (ACE) observations from 1998 to 2016, we identified a total of 309 small-scale magnetic flux ropes (SMFRs). We compared the characteristics of identified SMFR events with those of normal magnetic cloud (MC) events available from the existing literature. First, most of the MCs and SMFRs have similar values of accompanying solar wind speed and proton densities. However, the average magnetic field intensity of SMFRs is weaker (~7.4 nT) than that of MCs (~10.6 nT). Also, the average duration time and expansion speed of SMFRs are ~2.5 hr and 2.6 km/s, respectively, both of which are smaller by a factor of ~10 than those of MCs. In addition, we examined the geoeffectiveness of SMFR events by checking their correlation with magnetic storms and substorms. Based on the criteria Sym-H < -50 nT (for identification of storm occurrence) and AL < -200 nT (for identification of substorm occurrence), we found that for 88 SMFR events (corresponding to 28.5 % of the total SMFR events), substorms occurred after the impact of SMFRs, implying a possible triggering of substorms by SMFRs. In contrast, we found only two SMFRs that triggered storms. We emphasize that, based on a much larger database than used in previous studies, all these previously known features are now firmly confirmed by the current work. Accordingly, the results emphasize the significance of SMFRs from the viewpoint of possible triggering of substorms.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the change of body temperature and pain by application of Gaussian magnetic for the elderly delayed muscle pain. For the purpose, we selected 15 elderly women(age;$69.47{\pm}1.60$) and conducted repeated experiments. The Gaussian magnetic field area was divided into three areas (1000G, 1500G, 2000G). The applying arbitrarily manufactured magnetic field wristbands changes of body heat and pain before and after wearing Gaussian magnetic were measured and collected data were analyzed using SPSS 19.0. To examine the pre-and post-treatment differences by treatment areas, we conducted paired t-test. Group differences and interaction effects were analyzed using two-way ANOVA and Duncan post hoc tests. The significance level was set to ${\alpha}=.05$. The results are as follows. The change of body heat by the Gaussian magnetic field area showed significant differences in all three groups(P<.05). There were also significant differences in the results of group interactions and in the delayed muscle pain scale between groups(P<.05). The area with the largest difference appeared in the area of 1500G field. The 1000G-1500G Gauss field is considered to be the most ideal magnetic field for body heat and muscle pain changes. In conclusion, the Gaussian magnetic field of 1000G-1500G may affect body temperature and muscle pain in the elderly, and may have a significant impact on the quality of life in old age.
Active magnetic bearings(AMBs) present a technology which has many advantages compared to traditional bearing concepts. However, they require backup bearings in order to prevent damages in the event of a system failure. In this study, the dynamics of an AMB supported rotor during impact on backup bearings is studied employing a detailed simulation model. The backup bearings are modeled using an accurate ball bearing model, and the model for a flexible rotor system is described using the finite element approach with the component mode synthesis. Not only the influence of the support stiffness, clearance and friction coefficient on the rotor orbit, but also bearing load are compared for various rotor system parameters. Comparing these results it is shown that the optimum backup bearing system can be applicable for a specific rotor system.

In this paper, the experiments have been conducted to measure the residual velocity for 3.5g steel ball perforating light weight metal plates of aluminum alloy and magnesium alloy. Non-contact electro-magnetic sensors were used to measure the velocity of steel ball before/after perforating plates. The thicknesses of specimens used were about 2.8mm and 4.8mm. The impact velocities of steel ball were from 662m/s to 3594m/s. With same conditions, numerical analysis using Autodyn 2D has been conducted. The results of numerical analysis corresponded with those of experiments. Also, It is suggested that the difference between the residual velocity of experiment or numerical analysis and that of THOR experimental equation of BRL grew smaller as the impact velocity were increased.
This paper is aimed to find out the impact of the geometrical parameters, mainly the radius and the height of a cylinder, on the SGEMP response including the famous scaling law in the classical cylinder model using a homemade PIC code UNIPIC-3D. We computed the electric fields at the center and at the edge on the emission head face with different radii and heights under normal X-rays incidence. The results show that the electric field will increase with the radius but decrease with the height. We analyze the scaling law that links the electric field product and fluence product, and whereafter an irreconcilable contradiction raises when the radius is changeable, which limits the application range of the scaling law. Moreover, the field-height-radius relation is found and described by a combination of logarithmic and minus one-quarter numerical fitting law firstly. Particle and magnetic field distributions are used to explain all the behaviors of the fields reasonably. All the findings will assist the evaluation of SGEMP response in spacecraft protection.
