We prepared two samples of ultrafine ferrihydrite (FH) nanoparticle ensembles of quite a different origin. First is the biosynthesized sample (as a product of the vital activity of bacteria Klebsiella oxytoca (hereinafter marked as FH-bact) with a natural organic coating and negligible magnetic interparticle interactions. And the second one is the chemically synthesized ferrihydrite (hereinafter FH-chem) without any coating and high level of the interparticle interactions. The interparticle magnetic interactions have been tuned by modifying the nanoparticle surface in both samples. The coating of the FH-bact sample has been partially removed by annealing at 150℃ for 24 h (hereinafter FH-annealed). The FH-chem sample, vice versa, has been coated (1.0 g) with biocompatible polysaccharide (arabinogalactan) in an ultrasonic bath for 10 min (hereinafter FH-coated). The changes in the surface properties of nanoparticles have been controlled by XPS. According to the electron microscopy data, the modification of the nanoparticle surface does not drastically change the particle shape and size. A change in the average nanoparticle size in sample FH-annealed to 3.3 nm relative to the value in the other samples (2.6 nm) has only been observed. The estimated particle coating thickness is about 0.2-0.3 nm for samples FH-bact and FH-coated and 0.1 nm for sample FH-annealed. Mössbauer and magnetization measurements are definitely shown that the drastic change in the blocking temperature is caused by the interparticle interactions. The experimental temperature dependences of the hyperfine field hf>(T) for samples FH-bact and FH-coated have not revealed the effect of interparticle interactions. Otherwise, the interparticle interaction energy Eint estimated from the hf>(T) for samples FH-chem and FH-annealed has been found to be 121kB and 259kB, respectively.
The studies of non-figure plain coarse pottery from Jeju island is very important because it can explain the characters of plain coarse potteries of the bronze age and the early iron age. In this study, We analyzed the non-figure plain coarse popery from Jeju island in two ways. One is analysis of the chemical composition using X-ray fluorescence spectrometer and X-ray diffraction, the other is analysts of clay mineral contained iron, oxidized iron's genus, valence state and magnetic properties using Mossbauer spectroscopy. We confidence that non-figure plain coarse pottery is chiefly made of silicate minerals, like SiO$_2$. The content of noncrystalline ferrihydrite is supposed to be below 5-10 wt%, non-figure plain coarse pottery is considered to partly consist of Jeju island clay, which is made of neutral volcanic rock and the valence state of iron is Fe$\^$2+/ and Fe$\^$3+/. We presume the reason that the magnetic hyperfine field is lower than that of pure goethite is the change of crystal structure which transforms the combination states of Fe ions while the clay is being fired.
Magnetic properties and crystallographic properties of $Cu_{0.95}Ge_{0.95}Fe_{0.1}O_3$ were studied by using x-ray diffraction, superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) and Mossbauer spectroscopy. Our sample has orthorhombic structure and the lattice constants are a = 4.795 $\AA$, b = 8.472 $\AA$, c = 2.932 $\AA$. The spin-Peierls (SP) transition temperatures of our sample is 13 K. The Mossbauer spectra consisted with two Zeeman sextets and one doublet due to $Fe^{3+}$ions. The Zeeman sextets come from tetrahedral $Fe^{3+}$ions and the doublets come from octahedral $Fe^{3+}$ions. The jump up of magnetic hyperfine field of 2nd Zeeman sextet and the increasing of the values of quadrupole splitting and isomer shift of doublet below SP transition temperature could be interpreted related with the atomic displacements. The N el temperature is 715 K, the Debye temperature are 540 K for octahedral site and 380 K for tetrahedral site, respectively.
The crystallographic properties and cationic distribution of $M_{0.2}Fe_{2.8}O_4$ (M =Mn, Ni, Cu) and $Fe_3O_4$ thin films prepared by sol-gel method have been investigated by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and conversion electron M$\ddot{o}$ssbauer spectroscopy (CEMS). The ionic valence, preferred site, and hyperfine field of Fe ions of the ferrites could be obtained by analyzing the CEMS spectra. The $M_{0.2}Fe_{2.8}O_4$ films were found to maintain cubic spinel structure as in $Fe_3O_4$ with the lattice constant slightly decreased for Ni substitution and increased for Mn and Cu substitution from that of $Fe_3O_4$. Analyses on the CEMS data indicate that $Mn^{2+}$ and $Ni^{2+}$ ions substitute octahedral $Fe^{2+}$ sites mostly, while $Cu^{2+}$ ions substitute both the octahedral and tetrahedral sites. The observed intensity ratio $A_B/A_A$ of the CEMS subspectra of the samples exhibited difference from the theoretical value. It is interpreted as due to the effect of the M substitution for A and B on the Debye temperature of the site. The relative line-broadening of the B-site CEMS subspectra can be explained by the dispersion of magnetic hyperfine fields due to random distribution of M cations in the B sites.
The $Al_{0.2}$CoF $e_{1.8}$$O_4$ferrite powders have been prepared by the sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the sample depending on annealing temperature have been investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, FE SEM, Mossbauer spetroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The x-ray diffractions of all samples annealing temperature above 873 K clearly indicate the presence of spinel structure, the lattice constant decrease from 8.425 $\AA$ at 873 K to 8.321 $\AA$ at 1073 K, whereas the particle size rapidly increase from about 39 nm at 673 K to about 108 nm at 1073 K. The Mossbauer spectra annealed above 873 K could be fitted as the superposition of two sextets due to F $e^{3+}$ at A-site and B-site. The isomer shift (IS) and quadruple splitting (QS) values nearly constant with annealing temperature, whereas magnetic hyperfine field ( $H_{hf}$) of A-site slowly in crease and that of B-site fastly increases with increasing annealing temperature. The magnetic behaviour of powders shows that the saturation magnetization increase from 0.7 emu/g at 473 K to 72.1 emu/g at 1073 K while the coercivity decrease from 0.951 kOe at 673 K to 0.374 kOe at 1073 K with increasing annealing temperature.
The amorphous state of $NdFe_{10.7}TiB_{0.3}$ and its nanocrystallization have been studied by X-ray diffraction, 모스바우어 spectroscopy, and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM), $NdFe_{10.7}TiB_{0.3}$ amorphous ribbons were fabricated by a sigle-roll melt-spinning method. The average hyperfine field $H_{hf}$(T) of the amorphous state shows a temperature dependence of $[H_{hf}(T)-H_{hf}(0)]/H_{hf}(0)=-0.46(T/T_c)^{3/2}-0.34(T/T_c)^{5/2}$ for $T/T_c<0.7$ indicative of spin wave excitation. The quadrupole splitting just above the Curie temperature $T_c$ is 0.46 mm/s, whereas the average quadrupole shift below $T_c$ is zero. The Curie and crystallization temperatures are determined to be $T_c$=380K and $T_x=490K$, respectively, for a heating rate of 5 K/min. The occupied area of nanocrystalline phase at around 770K is about 65%. Above the Curie temperature, VSM data show magnetic moments increases again. The formation of $\alpha$-Fe is the main reason for the increasing moment as conformed with the 모스바우어 measurements.
CoCr$_{x}$ Fe$_{2-x}$O$_4$(0.0$\leq$x$\leq$1.0) ferrites have been fabricated by sol-gel method. The crystallographic and magnetic properties of the samples were investigated by means of x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscophy, Mossbauer spectroscopy and vibrating sample magnetometry. The structure of all the samples is cubic spinel type and the lattice constant decrease with increasing Cr content. The substituted Cr ions were located only in the B-site. The particle size also decreases with increasing Cr content. The Mossbauer spectra consist of two sextets due to Fe$^{3+}$ions at A- and B sites for 0.0$\leq$x$\leq$0.6, while, a paramagnetic doublet appears for 0.8$\leq$x$\leq$1.0. The magnetic hyperfine field decreases with increasing Cr content. The relaxation spectra was shown at 0.8$\leq$x$\leq$1.0 in CoCr$_{x}$ Fe$_{2-x}$O$_4$. The coercivity decreases drastically, while, the saturation magnetization decreases linearly with increasing x.ing x.
This study reviewed mineral composition on Scoria samples of this area, atomic value state of oxidized steel, and magnetic property in order to look into characteristics of scoria that was distributed in southern area of mountainous areas, Halla Mt. of Jeju Island. By XRD analysis, mineral composition was confirmed, and characteristics of iron compounds existed in samples were investigated through $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectroscope. Composing minerals could be learnt as feldspar basalt from XRD analysis because composting minerals were composed of quartz and feldspar anorite mainly, and iron compounds were made up with olivine, pyroxene, ilmenite, hematite, and magnetite. By $M{\ddot{o}}ssbauer$ spectroscope analysis on these iron compounds. it consisted of hematite and magnetite which showed hyperfine magnetic field of sextet mostly, and also doublet by olivine, pyroxene, ilmenite could be seen as appearing together. As a result of comparing with samples of Jeju western area having been announced in previous research, I.S. and Q.S. values of olivine, $Fe^{2+}$, were 122 mm/s and 3.09~3.13 mm/s respectively, and a fact could be known that $Fe^{2+}$ olivine having similar structure each other was contained, and the ratio of $Fe^{3+}/Fe_{tot.}$. was 85.90~92.82 %. From these findings, it was able to be presumed that they belonged to samples having been formed on the land at the same period of time. As a result of investigating area ratio of tetrahedron (A site) and octahedron (B site) regarding magnetite in samples, it was turn out to be 0.22~0.55 less than 2.

Al substituted $CoAl_{0.5}Fe_{1.5}O_{4}$ has been studied with x-ray and neutron diffraction, $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy and magnetization measurements. $CoAl_{0.5}Fe_{1.5}O_{4}$ revealed a cubic spinel structure of ferrinmagnetic long range ordering at room temperature, with magnetic moments of $Fe^{3+}(A)(-2.29{\mu}_{B}),\;Fe^{3+}(B)(3.81\;{\mu}_{B}),\;Co^{2+}(B)(2.66{\mu}_{B})$, respectively. The temperature dependence of the magnetic hyperfine field in $^{57}Fe$ nuclei at the tetrahedral (A) and octahedral (B) sites was analyzed based on the $N\'{e}el$ theory of magnetism. In the sample of $CoAl_{0.5}Fe_{1.5}O_{4}$, the interaction A-B interaction and intrasublattice A-A superexchange interaction were antiferromagnetic with strengths of $J_{A-B}=-19.3{\pm}0.2k_{B}\;and\;J_{A-A}=-21.6{\pm}0.2k_{B}$, respectively, while the intrasublattice B-B superexchange interaction was found to be ferromagnetic with a strength of $J_{B-B}=3.8{\pm}0.2k_{B}$.
[ $ZnCr_2O_4$ ] shows geometrically frustrated magnet. Recently, $CoCr_2O_4$ has been investigated for multiferroic property and dielectric anomalies by spin-current model. Polycrystalline $CoCr_2O_4$ and $CoCrFeO_4$ compounds was prepared by wet-chemical process. Crystallographic and magnetic properties of $CoCr_2O_4$ and $CoCrFeO_4$ were investigate by using the x-ray diffractometer(XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM), superconducting quantum interference device magnetometer(SQUID), and $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy. The crystal structure was found to be single-phase cubic spinel with space group of Fd3m. The lattice constants of $CoCr_2O_4$ and $CoCrFeO_4$$a_0$ were determined to be 8.340 and 8.377 ${\AA}$, respectively. The ferrimagnetic transition temperature for the both samples were observed at 97 K and 320 K. The $M\"{o}ssbauer$ absorption spectra at 4.2 K show that the well developed two sextets are superposed with small difference of hyperfine field($H_{hf1}=507\;and\;H_{hf2}=492\;kOe$). Isomer shift values($\delta$) of the two sextets are found to be 0.33 and 0.34 mm/s relative to the Fe metal, respectively, which are consistent with the high spin $Fe^{3+}$ charge state.
