Effects of steel-skeletons on the geomagnetic distribution in building have been studied through the simulation and measurement of geomagnetic distribution at floor surface. Geomagnetic distribution was simulated by the finite element method, and the vertical component Z of geomagnetic field on the floor surface was measured with the fluxgate-type magnetometer. Horizontal steel-skeletons have a little effect on the Z distribution, but vertical skeletons disturb severely the Z distribution and result in the localized geomagnetic disturbance. This disturbance becomes weakened by the bypassing soft-magnetic plate and/or floor.
Early detection in real-time response of slope movements ensures tremendous saving of lives and repair costs from catastrophic disaster. Therefore, it is essential to constantly monitor the performance and integrity of slope-stabilizing structures such as Rock bolt, Nail and Pile during or after installation. We developed a novel monitoring system using Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensor. It's advantages are highly sensitivity, small dimension and electro-magnetic immunity. capability of multiplexing, system integrity, remote sensing - these serve real-time health monitoring of the structures. Real-time strain measurement by the signal processing program is shown graphically and it gives a warning sound when the monitored strain state exceeds a given threshold level so that any sign of abnormal disturbance on the spot can be easily perceived.

Full maximum-entropy mobility-spectrum analysis (FMEMSA) is the best algorithm among mobility spectrum analyses by which we can obtain a set of partial-conductivities associated with mobility values (mobility spectrum) by analyzing magnetic-field-dependent conductivity-tensors. However, it is restricted to a direct band-gap semiconductor and should be modified for materials with other band structures. We developed the modified version of FMEMSA which is appropriate for a material with a single anisotropic valley, or an indirect-band-gap semiconductor quantum-well with a single non-degenerate conduction-band valley e.g., (110)-oriented AlAs quantum wells with a single anisotropic valley. To demonstrate the reliability of the modified version, we applied it to several sets of synthetic measurement datasets. The results demonstrated that, unlike existing FMEMSA, the modified version could produce accurate mobility spectra of materials with a single anisotropic valley.

The magnetization of $Mn_{1-x}Co_{x}Pt_{3}$ ordered alloys was measured at various temperatures and the pressure effect on $T_{c}$ for X=0.25, 0.5 and 0.6 was examined. The X dependence of $T_{c}$ determined by Arott plot has a minimum near X=0.6. The field-cooling effect measurement for X=0.5 shows a reentrant spin glass behavior. It is found that there is a concentration showing no pressure dependence of $T_{c}$ between X=0.25 and 0.5. These magnetic properties are discussed with a rigid band model.
The various DNA-protein interactions associated with the expression of genetic information involve double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) bending. Due to the importance of the formation of the dsDNA bending structure, dsDNA bending properties have long been investigated in the biophysics field. Conventionally, DNA bendability is characterized by innate averaging data from bulk experiments. The advent of single-molecule methods, such as atomic force microscopy, optical and magnetic tweezers, tethered particle motion, and single-molecule fluorescence resonance energy transfer measurement, has provided valuable tools to investigate not only the static structures but also the dynamic properties of bent dsDNA. Here, we reviewed the single-molecule methods that have been used for investigating dsDNA bendability and new findings related to dsDNA bending. Single-molecule approaches are promising tools for revealing the unknown properties of dsDNA related to its bending, particularly in cells.
When communication such as light, radio wave, or magnetic field is used underwater, the communication distance is very short, so sound waves are mainly used. However, by combining the strengths of each medium and communicating, stable communication may be possible. Underwater multi-media communication requires a protocol stack that supports it, which is very complex. To this end, this paper proposes a standard protocol stack and modeling technique to enable easy protocol stack modeling for the purpose. In fact, in this paper, a random model was created and analyzed through the proposal of modeling elements and similarity measurement methods, and as a result, it was analyzed that it was very helpful in creating a new model based on a standard model.
The crystallographic and magnetic properties of $Fe_{0.9}Zn_{0.1}Cr_2S_4$ have been studied by X-ray diffractometer(XRD), vibrating sample magnetometer(VSM) and $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectroscopy measurement. The crystal structure was determined by the normal cubic spinel of space group Fd3m and the lattice constant was $a_0=9.9967\;{\AA}$. The specific phenomenon which looks like cusp pattern at 77 K was observed in magnetization corves(ZFC : Zero Field Cooling) under 100 Oe applied field. $N\acute{e}el$ temperature($T_N$) was determined to be 153 K by VSM and $M\"{o}ssbauer$ spectra. The asymmetric 8-line profile has been observed at 4.2 K, which was attributed by the colossal electric quadupole interaction(${\Delta}E_Q$), ${\Delta}E_Q$ has 2.22 mm/s at 4.2 K. The ${\Delta}E_Q$ abruptly decreases around 77 K and then it disappears above 77 K with diminishing of 8-line pattern. The isomer shift $\delta$ at room temperature is 0.48 mm/s relative to Fe metal, which means that the charge state of Fe ions is ferrous in character.

In devices used for re-forming osteoblasts to treat osteoporosis, a magnetic field is applied from the outside of the bone, and the minerals contained in the bone are aligned in a certain direction and undergo precessional motion. When a $90^{\circ}$ RF pulse is applied by using an RF coil, protons of minerals are brought to an excited state, and phosphorus activity promoting the deposition of osteoblasts in the bone is increased, thereby reshaping the bone. Miniaturizing the RF coil that generates a signal corresponding to the harmonic of the precessional motional frequency by means of the $90^{\circ}$ RF pulse can drastically reduce the overall size of the bone reshaping system. In this study, we propose a methodology for the miniaturization of the RF coil that can be used for osteoblast re-formation using a bone reshaping system. The capacitance of the designed RF coil is 25 pF, the inductance is approximately 100 nH, and the resonance frequency is 96 MHz. The radius of the end ring of the designed RF coil is 18 cm, and the total length of the leg is $2{\times}11.6cm$. The performance of the coil is verified through post-design measurement.

The installation and performance test of the ISOL (Isotope Separation On Line) system for the generation and separation of Rare Isotopes (RI) beams is in progress at the Rare Isotope Science Project (RISP), Institute for Basic Science (IBS). The various RI beams generated by the ISOL target/ion source go through the beam lines and separators, and only the RI beam desired by the user is selected and transmitted to the superconducting linear accelerator at the downstream of the ISOL. In the ISOL system, two separators are installed to separate a specific RI beam, and control is performed by the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS). In this study, an EPICS IOC (Input-Output Control) was developed to measure the magnetic field of a dipole magnet for mass separation of a multivalent (n+) RI beam in the A/Q separator, which is one of the ISOL RI beam separators. The operational stability of the A/Q separator was tested through a magnetic field measurement using a Hall probe.

From among the NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) methods, the MFL (Magnetic Flux Leakage) PIG (Pipeline Inspection Gauge) is especially suitable for testing pipelines because the pipeline has high magnetic permeability. MFL PIG showed high performance in detecting the metal loss and corrosions. However, MFL PIG is difficult to detect the crack which occured by exterior-interior pressure difference in pipelines and the shape of crack is very long and narrow. Therefore, the new PIG is needed to be researched and developed for detecting the cracks. The CMFL (Circumferential MF) PIG performs magnetic fields circumferentially and can maximize the magnetic flux leakage at the cracks. In this paper, CMFL PIG is designed and the distribution of the magnetic fields is analyzed by using 3 dimensional nonlinear finite element method (FEM). By Simulating and Measuring the magnetic leakage field, it is possible to detect of axial cracks in the pipeline.
