Design of Hall Sensor based Electronic Engine Cooling System (홀 센서 기반 전자식 엔진냉각제어 시스템 설계)

  • The engine cooling system is a device that maintains the temperature in the engine room at an appropriate level by driving a cooling fan when the temperature in the engine room generated during the vehicle operation occurs over a certain temperature. In recent years, the vehicle cooling system has changed to an electronic system. Therefore, in this paper, we design and develop a hall sensor based electronic engine cooling system. In this paper, a hall sensor module and an actuator module for engine cooling control system are designed. In order to verify the performance of the designed module, the magnetic field control was verified through the simulation of the diameter and the head of the coil.

  • Magnetic field is necessary to control the convection of melted silicon and to improve the quality of the wafer in the 12inch silicon wafer growing process. Nowadays, superconducting magnet is used in this process. We fabricated and tested a saddle shaped superconducting magnet for 8inch silicon wafer growing system. And the protection circuits for HTS current lead and superconducting coil are designed and manufactured. In this paper, their manufacturing process and test results are introduced.

  • This paper describes a conceptual design of 10 MW class gearless type superconducting synchronous generator for wind turbine. The main benefits of gearless type generator are decrease of the process of maintenance and loss caused by drive-train. The designed generator improves efficiency of high-capacity wind turbine by applying superconducting coil making high magnetic field. Conventional wind turbines were investigated for up-scaling of generator and the generator had been designed with estimated design parameters using a finite elements method analysis tool.

  • Hybrid type slim tilt actuator and 6-wire supported are developed for DVD recording in the optical disc drive of notebook PC, which can compensate the inclination of disc and objective lens. The hybrid actuator uses the actuating method of moving coil in the focus and track direction and that of moving magnet in the tilt direction. Comparing with 6-wire supported actuator and hybrid type actuator, we can choose an actuator for slim super combo pickup. Two actuator are designed through the modal analysis and magnetic field analysis and experimental results shows dynamic characteristics. Finally, it is verified that the actuator can compensate the disc tilt of ${\pm}0.4^{\circ}$.

  • This paper presents the results of a series of experiments conducted to model a magnetorheological damper operated in shear mode. The prototype MR damper consists of two parallel steel plates; a paddle covered with an MR fluid coated foam is placed between the plates. The force is generated when the paddle is in motion and the MR fluid is reached by the magnetic field of the coil in one end of the device. Two approaches were considered in this experiment: a parametric approach based on the Bingham, Bouc-Wen and Hyperbolic Tangent models and a non parametric approach based on a Neural Network model. The accuracy to reproduce the MR damper behavior is compared as well as some aspects related to performance are discussed.

  • We analyzed an important part of control valve, magnet unit, which is used to control the fluid. Magnetic circuit which is composed of magnet and yoke is analyzed using finite element method. Then, flux density and coil force were calculated and compared with those of measured. According to the simulation results, the gap field, force constant, and permeance coefficient were 3~5 kG, 27.5 N/A, 22.1, respectively, which corresponded reasonably well with the measured values. We also obtained reluctance factor of 1.1 and fringing factor of 1.4 by simulation.

  • This paper considers the research of the hybrid interrupter which adopts both rotating arc and thermal expansion technology. The operating principle of this device defends on rapid arc rotation due to the magnetic field created by the fault current through a coil which is mounted on contacts and also relies on the principle of thermal expansion created by arc energy in extinguishing chamber and finally causes pressure rise in expansion volume. In this research, the principle of the interrupting techniques are given and experimental results of hybrid interrupter which is developed by new technology is introduced.

  • The iron loss in electric machines takes large part of machine losses and the reduction of iron loss brings the increase of the efficiency. In the rotating machines, however it is very difficult to calculate result because the measuring processes are very complex and laborious. As is well known, the relation between the flux density B and the magnetic field intensity H relation is not linear. For the iron loss, B and H must be measured and usually B becomes the reference wave(sine wave) and the following H is measured using H-coil. To make the B as sine wave, B is controlled by some devices. The error is controlled to become zero by the proposed algorithm which uses the bisection algorithm. The experiments are compared with the simulation results, and they show acceptable agreements.

  • Historically, industrial condition monitoring has been performed by costly hard-wired sensors or infrequent checks by maintenance personnel equipped with hand held monitoring equipment. Self- powered wireless condition monitoring systems provides on-line monitoring of critical plant and machinery providing major operating cost benefits. A vibration energy harvester(VEH) is a device that converts kinetic energy occurred by machine vibration into useable electrical energy. Using VEHs to power wireless monitoring systems can yield significant benefits: increased reliability, lower life time costs and no battery disposal issues, etc. This paper proposes the novel prototype design and manufacturing of a VEH that can eliminate the effect by failed batteries.

  • In the industrial field the necessity of the linear motion is increasing. We selected a moving magnet coreless type LDM, which have the advantages, such as long stoke, brushless, no cogging force. Actually, the design is accomplished using FEM analysis for the basic configuration of a magnetic circuit, and characteristic equations for coil design. In the course of design, we have estimated airgap flux density and thrust. We fabricated coreless type LDM and experimented static test. We compared measurement values with FEM analysis values.
