Moving Magnet Type PMLSM의 영구자석 형상 최적화 (Optimization of the Permanent Magnet Shape in Moving Magnet Type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor)

  • In this paper, the notch of teeth and skew of permanent magnet are used to reduce the detent force caused by slot-teeth structure. Also, the shape of permanent magnet is optimized to reduce the detent forceowing to flux hannonics components of permanent magnet. As a result, thrust is decrease about 2[%]. But, the distortion ratio of thrust is decreased from 1.04[%] to 0.75[%]. And, the ripple ratio of thrust is decreased from 2.6[%] to 1.65[%].

  • Average torque of PMa-SynRM(Permanent Magnet-assisted Synchronous Reluctance Motor) is changed by magnet form inserted to the barrier. Because the magnet form influences to the magnet-torque and reluctance torque. Therefore, this paper present a suitable permanent magnet form design for maximum torque when the magnet quantites are always fixed. And each motor characteristic such as average torque, torque ripple, cogging torque and back-EMF are analyzed by FEM(Finite Element Method) for optimal design..

  • Most important study on development of high-Tc superconducting magnet is magnetic properties with design conditions To study optimal design condition of high-Tc superconducting magnet, small size solenoid magnet was designed and simulated. Design conditions are radius of bobbin, radius of magnet, length of magnet, critical cur-rent and notch size. We know that intensity of magnetic fields was controled by critical current and uniformity of magnetic fields was controled by notch size. The optimal design conditions to get the high intensity and uniformity of magnetic field in this experiments were radius of bobbin=3[cm], radius of magnetic=12[cm], length of Z=10[cm], notch size=6[cm] and critical current=12[A].

  • This work presents racetrack High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) magnet with iron plates to achieve the maximum current-carrying capacity and the simple shape that can easily be wound and jointed. The shape, position and kinds of iron plates are chosen by using 3 Dimensional Finite Element Analysis (3d FEA) considering magnetic saturation of iron plates. The racetrack HTS magnet with iron plates, magnet having optimized current distribution and initial magnet are compared with each other through 3D FEA, manufacturing and testing these magnets. The measured performance of the magnet with iron plates improved by 50% on the basis of initial magnet.

  • In this paper, optimum shape design of permanent magnet in slotted type Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor(PMLSM) is progressed for minimization of detent force owing to structure of slot-teeth and thrust ripple by harmonic magnetic flux of permanent magnet. The characteristics of thrust and detent force computed by Finite element Analysis are acquired equal effect both skewed basic model and optimum model which is optimization of permanent magnet shape.

  • This paper deals with characteristic analysis of permanent magnet synchronous motor with full-ring magnet. The modeling of magnetic circuit is performed analytically. And then, analytical solution for open-circuit field distribution due to permanent magnet, back-EMF and torque are derived in terms of magnetic vector potential and two-dimensional polar coordinate system. The analytical results are validated extensively by finite element analyses. Finally, we performed experiments of permanent magnet synchronous motor with full-ring magnet.

  • As known generally, when permanent magnets whose poles are upward and downward in order, arranged into the circumferential direction rotate under the conducting plate, the rotating force acts on the plate as well as the repulsive force. If the magnetic field by the magnet wheel(the above rotating permanent magnets) is partially shielded, the magnet wheel over open region can be a linear induction motor. The distinct feature from induction motor is that the traveling magnet field is produced by the moving permanent magnet instead of ac current. Furthermore, a variation of the open region changes the direction of the thrust force. In this paper, we introduce a concept of the linear actuator using the magnet wheel. Under the above shielding condition, a few simulation results and its verification from a simple test setup are described.

  • A quench phenomenon is caused by an external disturbance in a superconducting magnet, where the magnet is operating in a cryogenic environment. The heat coupling between the layers and pancakes of the magnet can induce the normal zone propagation with fast speed. In order to analyze quench behavior in a pancake-shaped superconducting magnet, a quasi-three-dimensional model is proposed. A moving mesh finite volume method is employed in solving the heat conduction equation. The quench process of the superconducting magnet is studied under the various operating conditions and cooling conditions.

Effect of Magnetic Strength of Three-dimensionally Arranged Magnetic Barrel Machine on Polishing Characteristics

  • Commercially available magnetic barrel machines equipped with permanent magnets have certain limitations: work can only be finished effectively in limited areas of the container because permanent magnets are arranged two-dimensionally on the magnet disk. We overcame this problem by developing a new magnetic barrel machine equipped with a three-dimensional magnet arrangement. The effectiveness of the new machine has already been reported; this study improved the machine's polishing ability by changing the polarity of magnets on a magnet block. Polishing experiments confirmed the most effective arrangement of magnets on the magnet block. An alternating arrangement of north and south poles produced far superior polishing characteristics than a uniform arrangement of the same pole facing outward. Alternating polarity probably causes increased quantities of barrel media to work together. Finally, we introduced stronger permanent magnets to the magnet block, and found that the increased magnetic field also improved polishing ability.

  • For quite a long time various researches and developments of superconducting magnetic energy storage(SMES) device have been done for enhancement of power qualify control of sensitive electric load. This paper describes the design. fabrication and experimental results for the 3MJ SMES magnet made by using the design code of a SMES device that we developed. A computer code was developed to find the parameters of the SMES magnet which has minimum amount of superconductor for the same stored energy, and the 3MJ SMES magnet was designed based upon that. And the 3MJ SMES magnet designed based upon those. In addition, 3MJ SMES magnet was made based on several research results which were ramp up to 1㎄ without quench.
