The study focused on the petrology and petrochemistry of the so called "Ganghwa syenitic rocks" which intruded into metasediment of basement in southeastern part of Ganghwa Island. The geologic sequence of the mapped area was shown in table 1, 10 model analyses and 7 chemical analyses on the rock samples taken from the Ganghwa syenitic rocks and Manisan granite have been used to discuss the nomenclature of the rocks and petrological relationship between rock types. The petrograpical and petrochemical features based on, the analyses are as follows: 1) Ganghwa syenitic rocks consist of Ganghwa alkali syenite and Ganghwa diorite porphyry which based on the classification of the subcommision on systematics of igneous of IGUS. Ganghwa diorite porphyry which occured as dike forms are intruded into Ganghwa alkali syenite. The rock forming minerals of Ganghwa alkali syenite are composed of perthite, plagioclase, quartz, hornblend and chlorite in major, and zircon, apatite, sericite and magnetite in minor. Ganghwa diorite porphyries consist of plagioclase, biotite, hornblend, orthoclase and chlorite, with, porphyritic texture. 2) In silica-oxides variation (Fig. 2) and AMF diagram (Fig_ 3), the Ganghwa alkali syenite is similar to the trend of Daly's average basalt-andesite-dacite-rhyolite than Skaergaard which shows the trend of the fractional crystallization of magma, and equivalent to the alkali rock series by Peacock. 3) The general trend of data points shift to plagioclase, and are superimposed on the alkali rich terminal part of the granodiorite province of SW Finland in normative Q-Kf-Pl(Fig. 4) and Or-Ab-An diagram respectively. The above-mentioned evidences suggested that the Ganghwa syenitic rocks are the differential products resulted by assimilation of intermediated magma and metasedment rock under relatively rapid cooling condition.
The Eonyang amethyst deposits are composed of vug quartz emplaced in the Eonyang granites of Mesozoic Cretaceous age. The Eonyang granites are composed of biotite granite, porphyritic biotite granite, aplite and miarolitic granite. The petrochemical data of the Eonyang granites show the trend of subalkaline magma, calc-alkaline magma, I-type granitoid and magnetite series. The vug quartz show the characteristic growth zoning (white quartz-smoky quartz-amethyst) from wall side. Generally fluid inclusions in the vug quartz can be divided into four main types based on compositions (I-type: gas inclusion, II-type: liquid inclusion, III-type: polyphase inclusion, IV-type: liquid $CO_2$-bearing inclusion). Solid phase of polyphase inclusions are halite(NaCl), sylvite(KCl), hematite ($Fe_2O_3$) and unknown anisotropic solid. Homogenization temperatures inferred from the fluid inclusion study ranges from $440^{\circ}C$ to $485^{\circ}C$ in white quartz, from $227^{\circ}C$ to $384^{\circ}C$ in smoky quartz, from $133^{\circ}C$ to $186^{\circ}C$ in amethyst, respectively. Salinities of fluid inclusions in each mineralization stages ranges from 40 wt.% to 58 wt.% in white and smoky quartz, from 1.0 wt.% to 8.7 wt.% in amethyst respectively. A consideration of the pressure regime during vug quartz deposition based on the boiling evidence suggests lithostatic pressure of less than 72 bars. This range of pressure indicate that vug quartz lay at depth of 750 m below the surface at the during mineralization.
Orthogneiss of the study area is meta-igneous complex that composed of granite gneiss, porphyroblastic gneiss and migmatitic gneiss. Migmatitic gneiss produced from granite gneiss and porphyroblastic gneiss by strong ductile shearing. These rocks show mostly gneissic and partly mortar textures by strong regional metamorphism and ductile shearing during several orogenies. $^{40}Ar-^{39}Ar$ incremental-release ages of these rocks have been determined for 1 hornblende. 1 biotite and 3 muscovite concentrates separated from orthogneisses in this area. Ages of regional metamorphism and ductile shearing of these rocks are more than 5 stages(1500 Ma, 260 Ma, 190 Ma, 180-170 Ma and 160 Ma) under $300^{\circ}C$ to $500^{\circ}C$. These rocks had not been nearly effected by Daebo orogeny, because this area is far from Daebo granite bodies. The general trend of major chemical composition and mineral composition of these orthogneisses suggest that these rocks are some series of differentiated products from magma.
Main aspect of this study are to clarify mineral compositions on granites in Youngkwang-Naju area. These granites are is divided into four rock facies based on the geologic ages, mineralogical composition and chemical constituents, and texture : hornblende-biotite granodiorite, biotite granite, porphyritic granite and two mica granite. These granites constitude an igneous complex formed by a series of differentiation from cogenetic magma. In compressive stress field between the Ogcheon folded belt and the Youngnam massif, the foliated and undeformed granites had formed owing to heterogeneous distribution of stress. The geochemical data of study area indicate magma of these rocks would had been generated by melting in lower and middle crust. The major minerals of granitic rocks in study area are plagioclase, biotite, muscovite and hornblende. Plagioclase range in composition from oligoclase ($An_{19.3-27.7}$) to andesine ($An_{28.4-31}$), and shows normal zoning patterns, This uniformed composition indicated slow crystallization, and it is obvious that the growth of these crystal occurred before final consolidation of the magma. The Mg content of biotite are increases with increasing of $f_{O2}$ and grade of differentiation, changing from phlogopite to siderophyllite. Its $Al^{iv}$/$Al^{total}$ ratios are propertional to bulk rock alumina content. Muscovite is primary in origin with high content of $TiO_2$, and Its composition correspond to celadonitic muscovite. Hornblende indicated calc amphibole group ($(Ca+Na)_{M4}{\geq}1.43$, $Na_{M4}<0.67$). and consolidation pressure of granitic body by geobarometer of Hammerstrume and Zen show 11.3~17.2 Km.
The Yeongdeok granite emplaced in the eastern Yeongyang subbasin is typically a medium- to coarse-grained massive biotite granite. It intruded into Precambrian schist & gneiss complex and is unconformably overlain by Cretaceous sedimentary rocks. In this study, we attempt to investigate the magma type which formed Yeongdeok granite and estimate the emplacement depth using Al-in-hornblende geobarometer to mineral composition. According to the magma fractionation, $TiO_2$, $Al_2O_3$, $Fe_2O_3{^*}$, FeO, $Fe_2O_3$, MnO, MgO, CaO, $Na_2O$ and $P_2O_5$ show positive trend but $K_2O$ indicate negative trend with $SiO_2$ contents. Those are identified as calc-alkaline series in AFM diagram and show the chemical characteristics of the I-type magma through the oxidation tendency of the iron ion and the portion of the alkaline composition. When calculated using the equation of Hollister et al. (1987), the emplacement depths of the Yeongdeok granite range from 8.98 to 17.19 km and average depth was estimated 13.03 km approximately.

The volcanic sequence of the late Cretaceous Moonyu volcanic mass which distributed in the southwestern part of Ryeongnam massif, can be divided into felsic pyroclastic rocks, andesite and andesitic pyroclastic rocks, rhyolite in ascending order. The earliest volcanic activity might commence with intermittent eruptions of felsic magma during deposition of volcaniclastic sediments. Explosive eruptions of felsic pyroclastic rocks began with ash-falls, to progressed through pumice-falls and transmitted with dacitic to rhyolitic ash-flows. Subsequent andesite and andesitic pyroclastic rocks were erupted and finally rhyolite was intruded as lava domes along the fractures near the center of volcanic mass. Petrochemical data show that these rocks are calc-alkaline series and have close petrotectonic affinities with subduction-related continental margin arc volcanic province. Major element compositions range from medium-K to high-K. Petrochemical variation within the volcanic sequence can be largely accounted for tractional crystallization processes with subordinate mixing. The most mafic rocks are basaltic andesite, but low MgO and Ni contents indicate they are fractionated by fractional crystallization from earlier primary mafic magma, which derived from less than 20% partial melting of ultramafic rocks in upper mantle wedge. Based on the stratigraphy, the early volcanic rocks are zoned from lower felsic to upper andesitic in composition. The compositional zonation of magma chamber from upper felsic to lower andesitic, is interpreted to have resulted from fractionation within the chamber and replenishment by an influx of new mafic magma from depth. Replenishment and mixing is based on observations of disequilibrium phenocrysts in volcanic rocks. REE patterns show slight enrichment of LREE with differentiation from andesite to rhyolite. Rhyolite in the final stage can be derived from calc-alkaline andesite magma by fractional crystallization, but it might have underwent crustal contamination during the fractional crystallization.
From their general natures of peraluminous, S-type and ilmenite-series granites, two-mica granites in the Cheongsan, Inje-Hongcheon, Yeongju and Namwon areas were originated from crust-derived granitic magma and solidified under reducing condition. Each two-mica granite in Inje-Hongcheon and Namwon districts was differentiated from the the residual magma of porphyric biotite granite and high Ti/Mg biotite granite, respectively. The genetic relationships between two-mica granite and porphyritic biotite granite in Chenongsan district and between two-mica granite and biotite granodiorite in Yeongju district are ambiguous. In Namwon district granitic magmas were water-saturated and possible water solubilities in magmas were more than 5.8wt.%. In Yeongju district two-mica granitic magma was nearly water-saturated and showed possible water solubilities between 2.4~5.8wt.%. Two-mica granitic magmas in Cheongsan and Inje-Hongcheon districts were water-undersaturated. Pressure-dependent minimum melt compositions (0.5~2kb) and petrographic textures of two-mica granites in Inje-Hongcheon and Yeongju districts represent that the granites intruded and solidified at shallow level, whereas those in Cheongsan and Namwon districts exhibit relatively deeper level of granitic intrusion (2-3kb). The intersection of granite-solidus/muscovite stability indicates that magmatic primary muscovite can be crystallized from the water-saturated magma above 1.6kb (ca. 6km), but below the pressure muscovite can be formed by the subsolidus reaction. On the other hand, more pressure would be necessary for the crystallization of primary muscovite from the water-undersaturated magma. This pressure condition can explain the occurrence of primary and secondary muscovites from the two-mica granites in the areas considered. The experimental muscovite stability must be cautious of the application to examine the origin of muscovite. The muscovite stability can move toward high temperature field with adding of Ti, Fe and Mg components to the octahedral site of pure muscovite end member.
The Cretaceous Imog granite is a calc·alkaline, subsolvus monzogranite and shows characteristics of "I-type" and "magnetite·series" granite by mineralogy and chemical composition. Many of the major and trace element characteristic of the Imog granite are consistent with a relationship by fractional crystallization of a basic magma. The primary magma of the granite derived from the subduction of oceanic crust at the destructive plate margin. The granite shows light REE enrichment with (Ce/Yb)N ratios of 7.77~12.55. All the REE patterns show Eu negative anomalies ($Eu/Eu^*=0.69$) in the pluton. The Imog granite at the southwestern part of the Hambaeg basin may be intruded along the tectonic intersections of the E-W and N-S lines such as deep faults and fractures. Radiometric age determination on the granite reveals as $96.7{\pm}2.0Ma$ by K-Ar dating on biotite.
The Cretaceous pink granites of the finan area, southwestern Ogcheon belt, are adjacently developed in the eastern part (Keg) and western part (Kwg) as stocks, respectively. Keg of rounded shape occur as mainly medium-coarse grained rocks, whereas Kwg of ellipsoidal shape occurs as medium-coarse grained ones with partly porphyritic and fine-grained textures. Miarolitic cavities of them are often seen and can be observed more frequently in Kwg than Keg. Rose and counter fracture diagrams of the two granites show that Keg and Kwg have more potentiality of non-dimension and dimension to non-dimension stones, respectively. Physical properties such as porosity and absorption ratio have 0.25% and 0.65%, and 0.43% and 1.11%, respectively, which could suggest that emissions of gas phase at later magma stages are abundant in Kwg than those of Keg. From the major and trace elements petrochemisoy, they belong to acidic, peraluminous and calc-alkaline rocks, showing that Kwg are later product than Keg of the same granitic parent magma. REE concentrations normalized to chondrite value have trends of gradual and parallel enriched LREE and depleted HREE. Eu negative anomalies of Kwg are far more severe than those of Keg, which suggest that plagioclase fractionation in Kwg was much stronger than that of Keg. In the magnetic susceptibility vs. petrochemical and modal parameters, they all belong to magnetite-series and I-types, and can be classified as weakly-moderately ferromagnetic rocks. And the above relations could suggest that their susceptibility values are more mainly depended on ferromagnetic opaques than ferromagnetic and paramagnetic assemblages (Bt + Ch + Ser + Op).
In order to understand the processes involved in the petrogenesis and the differentiation of the primary magma spectrum, a petrological and geochemical properties were investigated for the Chonju and the Sunchang foliated granites, which are located in the southwestern part of the Okchon zone and extends up to the northwestern boundary of the Ryongnam massif as two subparallel batholiths. Major element analyses show that the Chonju and Sunchang foliated granites are classified petrologically into a weakly to strongly peraluminous or calc-alkaline, but do not fit neatly into either of the I/S-type or magnetite/ilmenite-series classification schemes for granites, although the I-type and magnetite-series characteristics seem to be predominant based on the major element chemistry. In normative compositions, the Chonju granite is petrographically evolved from granodiorite to granite, whereas the Sunchang granite is from granodiorite to quartz monzodiorite. It seems to suggest a difference of the magmatic evolution processes such as crustal assimilation and/or fractional crystallization in magma. The REE patterns of both batholiths show high similarity and strongly fractionated REE distributions which show high $(Ce/Yb)_N$ ratios and little or no Eu anomalies. These REE patterns correspond broadly to those seen in the pre-Cretaceous granitoids of Korea. Apparently, the evidences obtained from the bulk compositions strongly suggest that the two foliated granitoids were formed by partial meltings of a relatively restricted and similar, may be common, source material which contains a continental crust component having an igneous composition, and have undergone a similar magmatic differentiation processes.
