Robust Nonparametric Regression Method using Rank Transformation

  • Consider the problem of estimating regression function from a set of data which is contaminated by a long-tailed error distribution. The linear smoother is a kind of a local weighted average of response, so it is not robust against outliers. The kernel M-smoother and the lowess attain robustness against outliers by down-weighting outliers. However, the kernel M-smoother and the lowess requires the iteration for computing the robustness weights, and as Wang and Scott(1994) pointed out, the requirement of iteration is not a desirable property. In this article, we propose the robust nonparametic regression method which does not require the iteration. Robustness can be achieved not only by down-weighting outliers but also by transforming outliers. The rank transformation is a simple procedure where the data are replaced by their corresponding ranks. Iman and Conover(1979) showed the fact that the rank transformation is a robust and powerful procedure in the linear regression. In this paper, we show that we can also use the rank transformation to nonparametric regression to achieve the robustness.

Gas atomization으로 제조된 Ti50Ni30Cu20 합금 분말의 상변태 거동 (Martensitic Transformation Behaviors of Gas Atomized Ti50Ni30Cu20 Powders)

  • For the fabrication of bulk near-net-shape Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory alloys, consolidation of Ti-Ni-Cu alloy powders are useful because of their brittle property. In the present study, $Ti_{50}Ni_{30}Cu_{20}$ shape memory alloy powders were prepared by gas atomization and martensitic transformation temperatures and microstructures of those powders were investigated as a function of powder size. The size distribution of the powders was measured by conventional sieving, and sieved powders with the specific size range of 25 to $150\;{\mu}m$ were chosen for this examination. XRD analysis showed that the B2-B19 martensitic transformation occurred in the powders. In DSC curves of the as-atomized $Ti_{50}Ni_{30}Cu_{20}$ powders as a function of powder size, only one clear peak was found on each cooling and heating curve. The martensitic transformation start temperature($M_s$) of the $25-50\;{\mu}m$ powders was $31.5^{\circ}C$. The $M_s$ increased with increasing powder size and the difference of $M_s$ between $25-50\;{\mu}m$ powders and $100-150\;{\mu}m$ powders is only $1^{\circ}C$. The typical microstructure of the rapidly solidified powders showed cellular morphology and very small pores were observed in intercellular regions.

  • To improve mechanical properties of Cu-Al-Ni alloy by the grain refinement, Cu-Al-Ni SMA ribbons were fabricated by melt spinning apparatus. The variations of microstructure, mechanical properties and transformation characteristics with the condition of rapid solidification and annealing time-temperature were investigated in Cu-Al-Ni SMA ribbons. The ribbons fabricated by melt spinning obtained around 1.5nm in width and 50-60${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ in thickness. With increasing wheel speed in order of 10m/s, 15m/s, 20m/s, 30m/s and 3m/s, the grain size was decreased in order of 10${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 6.25${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 5.5${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$, 3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ and 3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$. $M_{s}$ and $A_{s}$ temperature were decreased with decreasing grain size. By X-ray diffraction test, ordered $\beta$$_1$ phase was observed in all the SMA ribbons and the volume friction of it was increased with increasing wheel speed. With increasing wheel speed, strain was increased from 4.2% to 5.8% and fracture mode has changed from mixture of intergranular and dimple fracture to mixture of fiber structure and dimple fracture. The grain size of ribbon heat-treated at $600^{\circ}C$ was increased with increasing time. In the heat-treated ribbons at 55$0^{\circ}C$, ${\gamma}$$_2$ phases were observed.d.d.

The effect of various polishing systems on surface roughness and phase transformation of monolithic zirconia

  • PURPOSE. The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare three polishing systems on the surface roughness and phase transformation of monolithic zirconia. MATERIALS AND METHODS. 100 disk shaped specimens (10 mm diameter, 3 mm thickness) were fabricated from monolithic zirconia blocks. 20 specimens were left as a control group and remaining specimens were grinded by diamond bur to simulate the occlusal adjustments. Grinded specimens were randomly divided into 4 groups: group G (no polishing), group M (Meisinger, zirconia polishing kit), group E (EVE Diacera, zirconia polishing kit), and group P (EVE Diapol, porcelain polishing kit). Surface roughness was measured with profilometer and surface topography was observed with SEM. XRD analysis was performed to investigate the phase transformation. Statistical analysis was performed with one-way ANOVA and Tukey's post hoc tests at a significance level of P=.05. RESULTS. All polishing groups showed a smoother surface than group G. Among 3 polishing systems, group M and group E exhibited a smoother surface than the group P. However, no significant differences were observed between group M and group E (P>.05). Grinding and polishing did not cause phase transformations in zirconia specimens. CONCLUSION. Zirconia polishing systems created a smoother surface on zirconia than the porcelain polishing system. Phase transformation did not occur during the polishing procedure.

진핵생물 유전자 조작을 위한 효모 vector계 이용에 관한 기초연구 -생효모 형질전환 최적조건과 숙주별 plasmid안정성에 관하여 - (Development of Yeast-Vector System for Eukaryotic Gene Cloning - Optimum Condition for Intact Yeast Cell Transformation and Plasmid Stability in the Transformants -)

  • 각 효모 숙주 및 vector에 따라 lithium염 처리에 의한 생효모형질전환 최적 조건을 얻기 위하여 5종의 효모 숙주(S. cerevisiae Dl3-lA, DKD-5D, DBY-746, MC-16 및 S2022D)에 3종의 효모plasmid vector(YRp 7, YEp 13 및 YIp 5 )의 형질전환 실험과 아울러 이들 각 형질전환체내에서 도입된 plasmid들의 안정성을 조사하였다. lithium 염의 경우 LiCl가 Li-acetate에 비하여 좋은 효과를 보였으며 LiCl처리에 의한 최적 형질전환 조건은 각 숙주-vector계에 있어서 공히 균체 배양 시간은 16시간 (5.4 $\times$ $10^6$ - 2.4$\times$$10^8$cells/$m{\ell}$ ) 내외, LiCl의 농도는 0.1-0.2M, PEG(4000)의 농도는 35%, induction시간은 60분 내외 열처리는 42$^{\circ}C$에서 5분간, LiCi처리 buffer는 0.1M tris-HCl(pH 7.6)에서 가장 높은 형질전환 빈도를 보였다. 한편 Protoplast 형질전환법과 형질전환빈도를 비교해 본 결과 DKD-5 D(YEp13)과 Dl3-lA(YRp7)의 경우는 protoplast법이 DKD-5D(YRp 7), 및 DBY-746(YEp 13)에서는 LiCl처리법이 형질전환 빈도가 높았으며 MC-16(YEp 13)의 경우는 양방법에서 공히 비교적 낮은 빈도를 보였다. 각 형질전환체내에서의 도입된 plasmid의 안정성은 선택배지에서 배양했을 경우- YRp 7이 Dl3-lA 및 DKD- 5D 숙주에서 70세대후에는 80-85%가 유실되었으나 YEp13은 DKD-5D 및 DBY-746에서 35%밖에 유실되지 않았으며 MC-16숙주에서는 55% 유실로서 비교적 안정하였다. 또한 비선택배지에 배양시에는 선택배지에 배양했을 경우 보다 안정성이 다소 낮았으나 같은 경향은 보였다.

수치지도 좌표계 변환 도구 개발 (Development of Coordinate Transformation Tool for Existing Digital Map)

  • 본 연구는 구 데이텀으로 구축된 수치지도를 지구 중심 데이텀으로의 변환에 필요한 새로운 변환 파라미터를 결정하고, 콜로케이션 방법으로부터 유도된 왜곡 모델링을 적용한 수치지도 좌표계의 변환에 관한 것이다. 국토지리정보원에서 GPS관측을 실시한 정밀 1차 기준점 190점 중에서 107점의 공통점을 파라미터 결정으로 사용하였으며, 최적 변환 파라미터의 결정을 위하여 107점을 제외한 83점의 공통점을 변환 정확도 검증에 이용하였다. 통계 분석을 통해 Molodensky-Badekas 모델로부터 산출된 파라미가 최적 파라미터로 결정되었으며, 왜곡 모델링을 수행한 결과 0.22m의 변환 정확도를 얻었다. 이는 7 파라미터만을 이용한 변환보다는 72%의 정확도가 향상된 결과를 나타내는 것이다. 또한, 1/50,000, 1/25,000과 1/5,000 수치지도의 변환 도구인 GDKtrans를 개발하였다. 이 변환 도구를 이용하여 6개 대도시 지역의 l/5,000 수치지도를 변환하고, 검사점 GPS 측량을 실시하여 변환정확도를 검사한 결과 약 1.9 m의 변환 정확도를 보였으나, l/5,000 수치지도의 위치 정보와 형상이 실제 위치 및 형상과 크게 일치하지 않고 있어 전면적으로 l/5,000의 수치지도를 재 제작하는 것이 타당하다고 판단된다.

공동배양과정의 배지조성과 배양조건이 벼 형질전환효율에 미치는 영향 (The Effects of Co-cultivation Medium and Culture Conditions on Rice Transformation Efficiency)

  • 1. 본 연구에서는 공동배양 배지에 Agrobacterium 성장 억제물질인 silver nitrate를 첨가하고 변온과 여과지처리를 추가하여 공동배양 기간을 7일로 늘였으며, 또한 항산화 물질 3종을 공동배양 배지에 첨가하여 세포의 oxidative burst를 최소화함으로써 벼 형질전환효율을 높일 수 있었다. 또한 이 방법을 적용하여 형질전환이 어려운 품종을 대상으로도 형질전환 식물체를 작성할 수 있었다. 2. 벼 형질전환체의 70%에서 도입유전자 수가 1copy인 것으로 나타나, 적은 수의 유전자가 안정적으로 도입됨을 확인 하였다. 3. 이러한 결과를 바탕으로, 새로운 공동배양 방법을 사용하여 우수한 농업적 형질을 가진 벼 육종 소재 및 품종을 신속하게 개발할 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.

$Ta_2O_5$ 첨가가 3 mol% Y-TZP의 저온열화에 미치는 영향 (Effect of $Ta_2O_5$ Alloying on Low Temperature Degradation of 3 mol% Y-TZP)

  • Ta2O5 alloying into 3 mol% Y2O3-stabilized tetragonal ZrO2 polycrystals (3Y-TZP) increased the degradation during aging at 265℃ and the fracture toughness; both are determined by the amount of transformed m-ZrO2. It was proposed that the mechanism underlying the t→m transformation when aged at low temperatures is attributed to the reorientation of (Zzr'V ). complexes parallel to [111] lattice direction, which is accompanied by a relaxation of TZP lattice during annealing at low temperature. A small strain which results from the reorientation gives rise to a localized mechanical instability, thus lowering the nucleation barrier so that the t→m phase transformation (degradation) proceeds. The amount of transformed m-ZrO2 during aging becomes greater as the chemical free energy change related to the transformation, ΔGo, increases with increasing the Ta2O5 alloying content.

Agrobacterium tumefaciens 에 의한 민들레의 형질전환 (Transformation of Taraxacum mongolicum Hand by Agrobacterium tumefaciens)

  • 국화과에 속하는 다년생 초본식물의 민들레가 Agrobacteria 에 대한 숙주로서의 가능성을 조사하고 여러 가지 유용한 유전자를 민들레로 도입시키기 위해, 민들레잎 절편을 pBI121으로 형질전환된 Agrobacterium tumefaciens LBA4404와 10분동안 공동배양하여 형질전환시킨 후, 1$\mu$M IAA, 1$\mu$M BA. 50 $\mu$g/ML Km과 100$\mu$g/ML Cb이 함유된 MS 배지에서 약 2주후에 multiple shoot를 유가시켰다. 유기된 shoot로 부터 유식식물체를 얻었으며, 형질전환을 확인하기 위해 GUS활성을 측정한 결과 양성 반응을 보였다.
