  • Luminescence properties of anthracene chromophores were investigated. Anthracene chromophores were incorporated in cyclosiloxane-based hybrid polymers through one-pot hydrosilylation reaction. Using four-armed cyclosiloxanes, divinylterminated siloxane monomers, and 9-vinylanthracenes, anthracene-labeled hybrid polymers were prepared. Free-standing hybrid polymer films were prepared successfully by doctor-blade method and thermal treatment. The polymer films exhibit strong blue fluorescence from anthracene and its fluorescence lifetime was not influenced by the temperature, indicating that the movement of anthracene chromophores was restrained in cyclosiloxane-based hybrid polymer films.

  • The synthesis of nano-size ($Y_{0.955}Eu_{0.1}$)($P_{0.7}V_{0.45}$)$O_4$ red phosphors were conducted by using a Liquid Phase Precursor (LPP) method. In this method, cellulose pulp was used as a template showing the micro fibre structures to obtain the nano size YPV red phosphor. Aqueous solutions of raw materials were impregnated into cellulose pulp and subsequently impregnated pulp was dried and fired at $800-1200^{\circ}C$ for 1h. The effect of luminescence properties on compositions and temperatures was evaluated with photoluminescence spectrum, X-ray diffraction and FE-SEM, and TEM. High efficiency (~110%) of phosphor of size of ~500nm fired at $1150^{\circ}C$ was obtained compared with the micro size of commercial product. High efficiency behaviors of nano size phosphors were discussed in this paper.

  • $Eu^{3+}$ -doped $Y_2$$O_3$ phosphors has been prepared by a polymerized complex method and investigated their powder and luminescence properties. They were compared with phosphors prepared by a solid state reac-thion method. The phosphors synthesized have been characterized by X-ray diffraction low-voltage lu-minescent emission spectroscopy etc. Under low-voltage electron excitation $Eu^{3+}$-doped $Y_2$$O_3$ exhibited a strong narrow-band red emission peaking at 612nm. On the other hand the critical value for concentration quenching of sample prepared by the polymerized complex method fired at $1400^{\circ}C$ is x=0.05 for $(Y_{1-x}Eu_x__2O_3$ The emission intensity of phosphors prepared by the polymerized complex method was higher than that of phosphors prepared by the solid state reaction method.

  • Photoluminescence properties of $SrTiO_3$:Sm red phosphors synthesized by solid state reaction method were studied under 254 nm excitation. Emission bands at 576 nm and 616 nm in heavily $Sm^{3+}$ ion doped $SrTiO_3$:Sm phosphors were observed, which were attributed to $^4G_{5/2}\rightarrow{^6}H_{5/2}$ and $^4G_{5/2}\rightarrow{^6}H_{7/2}$ transition of $Sm^{3+}$, respectively. The $Sm^{3+}$ ion concentration exhibiting the maximum emission intensity in the $SrTiO_3$:Sm was 30 mol%. The luminescence caused by $Sm^{3+}$ in the $SrTiO_3$:Sm phosphors was interpreted by the energy transfer between $Sm^{3+}$ ions.

  • Zinc sulfide is a well-known host material of phosphor emitting different radiations dependent on different doping impurities of metallic ion. It emits green, blue, orange-yellow or white colors by doping with activators such as copper, silver, manganese and so on. In this study, manganese, copper and chlorine doped ZnS phosphor (ZnS:Mn,Cu,Cl) was synthesized by solid-state reaction method. The optical properties were investigated according to different concentrations of sulfur and activators used during the synthesis process.

  • Eu3+-doped RE2O3 (RE = Gd, Y and La) phosphors were prepared by solvothermal reaction method and their crystalline structure, phase transformation and surface morphologies were investigated by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM). The obtained RE2O3:Eu3+ phosphors are nanocrystalline-sized. The luminescence properties of Eu3+ ions in different host materials, namely, Gd2O3, Y2O3 and La2O3 have been investigated. • YAG:Ce yellow phosphor particles were synthesized by spray pyrolysis with changing the solution properties and their luminous properties, crystal structure, and morphological changes were studied by using PL measurement, XRD, and SEM analysis. It was clear that the solution properties significantly affected the crystal phase, crystallite size, the PL intensity, and the morphology of YAG:Ce particles. At low calcination temperature, the addition of urea only to the spray solution was helpful to form a pure YAG phase without any impurity phases, as the result, the highest luminescence intensity was achieved at the calcination temperature of $900^{\circ}C$. When the calcination temperatures were larger than $1300^{\circ}C$, however, the YAG particles prepared without any additive showed the highest luminescent intensity. Regardless of the solution conditions, the emission intensity of YAG:Ce particles prepared by spray pyrolysis showed a linear relation with the crystallite size. In terms of the morphology of YAG:Ce particles, the addition of both DCCA and $NH_4OH$ to the spray solution was effective to prepare a spherical and dense structured YAG particles.
