According to ACI 224.3R-95 (ACI, 2013), construction joints (cold joint) in the column are to be provided at the top of floor slab for column continuing to the next floor and underside of floor slab and beam. A recent study reveals that providing cold joint of the mentioned location significantly reduced the seismic performance of the frame structures. Since, the construction joints in multi-story frame structures normally provided at the top of the floor slabs and at soffit of the beam in the column. This study investigated the effect of construction joint at various location in the column of beam-column joint such as at the top of floor slab, soffit level of the beam, half the depth of beam below the soffit of the beam and at a full depth of the beam below the soffit of the beam. The study revealed that there is an improvement in seismic capacity of the specimens as the location of cold joint is placed away from the soffit of the beam for lower story column.

This study has been conducted so as to analyse user's sensibility on lighting method, correlated color temperature and illumination by composing surface light source, which was projected onto a unit side of interior wall, ceiling and floor. 1) As an analyzed results of the sensibility images, it showed that the "snug & tender" value had got higher when the correlated color temperature got lower. And the "energetic, cheerful" value had got higher when the level of illuminance got lower. Furthermore, the "unusual, unique" showed higher value on the illuminated floor circumstance. Finally, the higher correlated color temperature had been, "energetic, cheerful" value also got higher. 2) As a result of multi-regression analysis, it was found that 3000K and 100lx had the biggest influence on 'snug' image while 5,500K, 500lx had the biggest influence on 'energetic' image. In addition, it was found that the illuminated floor had a big influence on 'unusual' image while 500lx had the biggest influence on 'refined' image.
Recently, there has been an increasing demand for buildings that allow rapid assembly of construction elements, have ample open space areas and are flexible in their final intended use. Accordingly, researchers have developed new competitive structures in terms of cost and efficiency, such as cold-formed steel and timber composite floors, to satisfy these requirements. Cold-formed steel and timber composite floors are light floors with relatively high stiffness, which allow for longer spans. As a result, they inherently have lower fundamental natural frequency and lower damping. Therefore, they are likely to undergo unwanted vibrations under the action of human activities such as walking. It is also quite expensive and complex to implement vibration control measures on problematic floors. In this study, a finite element model of a composite floor reported in the literature was developed and validated against four-point bending test results. The validated FE model was then utilised to examine the vibration behaviour of the investigated composite floor. Predictions obtained from the numerical model were compared against predictions from analytical formulas reported in the literature. Finally, the influence of various parameters on the vibration behaviour of the composite floor was studied and discussed.

In order to investigate characteristics of floor impact sound generated in the apartment buildings, questionnaire survey was conducted for respondents living in apartments in 200t. Questions in the surrey were on the characteristics of real impact sounds, subjective annoyance and satisfaction on the heavy and light impact sources. From the survey results, it was found that most annoying time of a day and the space were 8 p.m. to midnight at living room. It was also revealed that the main source of the floor impact sound from the upper floor is a child's jumping and running at from six to nine. More than half of people were not satisfied on the floor impact isolation performance of their own apartments. The percentage of residents who were annoyed by the heavy-weight impact sound such as children's jumping and adult's walking was $5{\sim}10%$ lower than by light-weight impact sound. In addition, females being responded more annoyed by floor impact sound than males.

As the requirement of high-rise buildings in big cities increases, steel structural system becomes more popular in spite of the relatively higher material cost compared to that of the concrete structural system. Most of the steel structure adopts metal deck floor system because of the easiness in construction. However, the metal deck floor system has a weakness on vibration which became very important factor in office buildings, hotels and residential buildings as the more sensitive machines being used. Therefore, most, of the building codes in many countries restrict the natural frequency of the each floor should be higher than or equal to 15 Hz. Floor vibration of the KEM deck composite floor system which has been , developed recently from the engineers and scientists in Korea was measured. Also, the simplified analytical derivation of natural frequency for each floor was studied according to the measured natural frequency for each different boundary condition of the floor. As the length of the slab gets bigger, the natural frequency of the slab becomes lower even though the structural designer still considers it as a one-way slab.

By describing the floor slab of a radiant heating system as a one dimensional transient heat exchanger problem, a dynamic analysis model to incorperate with TRNSYS program was developed and their results were compared with experimental results. Results showed that the both of TPOC(Two Parameter On-off Control) and TPSC(Two Parameter Switching Control) method using room air temperature and floor surface temperature as the control parameters does not maintain room air and floor surface temperature exactly at the setting temperatures. But TPSC method is a better candidate for the temperature regulations of room air and floor surface temperature than TPOC method which can keep on the upper and lower limit temperature according to outside temeperature and wall structure etc. And better thermal circumstance can be given by TPSC method than On-off and TPOC method and the overheating which can be occured at the radiant floor heating system with on-off heating control will be reduced.

The purpose of this study is to make clear the cross-ventilation effect by floor plan type in apartment house during summer. The questionnaire survey was carried out during the 26$^{th}$ of August ${\sim}$ the 4$^{th}$ of September 2004. The respondents were 174 residents living in two subject apartment estates. One subject estate (we call A estate) was consisted apartment houses having cross-ventilation floor plan. The other subject estate (we cail B estate) was constructed apartment houses having ordinary floor plan. The field measurements of indoor thermal elements reflecting natural cooling effect by cross-ventilation were carried out at A house in A estate and at B house in B estate. The measurements in two subject houses were taken on simultaneously the 27$^{th}$ of August. The residents living in A apartment estate planed cross-ventilation type show positive responses on thermal sensation and airflow sensation. The averages indoor temperature and air velocity in the A house were 0.9 $^{\circ}$C lower and 0.29 m/s higher than the B house. Therefore, it was found that indoor thermal environment during summer in the house having cross-ventilation floor plan maintained more comfortable than the house having ordinary floor plan by natural cooling effect of cross-ventilation.
The objective of this study was to increased breeding area in same size pig pen and growth performance of weaning pigs. A total of 330 crossbred ($6.68{\pm}0.36kg$) weaning pigs were subjected to a 42-day feeding trial(3 pens/treatment) in which effects of the semi-floor were compared : NC; Negative control ($0.23m^2/pig$; 40 pigs/pen), PC; Positive control($0.30m^2/pig$; 30 pigs/pen) and Semi-floor($0.30m^2/pig$; 40 pigs/pen). There was a significant effect on BW at 6 week along all treatment(P<0.01). There was a effect of Semi-floor treatment on ADG(average daily gain) only during the first 3 week after weaning(P<0.01). No significant effect was observed in the ADFI during the experiment period. NC treatment had significantly lower BUN value than other treatments(P<0.05). The results from immune and stress response with semi-floor suggest that no negative effects in their blood analysis. Consequently, semi floor treatments increased additional breeding area and also growth performance rather than other treatments in weaning pigs.
This paper reports experimental investigation on shear behavior of steel reinforced concrete (SRC) shallow floor beam, where the steel shape is embedded in concrete and the high strength bolts are used to transfer the shear force along the interface between the steel shape and concrete. Six specimens were conducted aiming to provide information on shear performance and explore the shear bearing capacity of SRC shallow floor beams. The effects of the height of concrete slab, the size and the type of the steel section on shear performance of beams were also analyzed in the test. Based on the strut-and-tie model, the shear strength of the SRC shallow floor beam was proposed. Experimental results showed that composite shallow floor beam exhibited satisfactory composite behavior and all of the specimen failed in shear failure. The shear bearing capacity increased with the increasing of height of concrete slab and the size of steel shape, and the bearing capacities of beam specimens with castellated steel shape was slightly lower than those of specimens with H-shaped steel section. Furthermore, the calculations for evaluating the shear bearing capacity of SRC shallow floor beam were verified to be reasonable.
