  • Low voltage circuit breakers which interrupt rapidly and raise the reliability of power supply are widly used in power distribution systems. In the paper, it was investigated how much Interrupting capability was improved by correcting the shape of the contact system in molded case circuit breaker(below MCCB), Prior to the interrupting testing, it was necessary for the optimum design to analyze magnetic forces on the contact system, generated by current and flux density. This paper presents both our compuational analysis and test results contact system in MCCB.

  • A software, called touch-one, is developed about the determination of short-circuit values and protective co-ordination in power system. The used solution algorithm reviewed intensively, and the protective co-ordination determination technique presented by using the circuit-breaker's current-limitation characteristic. The protective coordination concerns the behaviour of two devices placed in series in an electrical network, with a short-circuit downstream circuit-breaker. It has two basic principles: First, discrimination which is an increasing requirement of low voltage electrical distribution systems. Second, which is less well known: cascading, which consists of installing a device, whose breaking capacity is less than the three-phase short-circuit current at its terminals and helped by main circuit-breaker. With this software, we can construct a electric-power system which is reliable and economic according to user's purpose.

  • 현재 국내에서 제조되는 저압 30AF(Ampere Frame) 소형 차단기의 경우 선로 단락사고 시 특성에 따라 순시 (Instantaneous) 동작이 다르게 반응함으로써 정전범위 확대, 정격단락차단용량(Rated short-circuit breaking capacities) 초과로 인한 폭발 및 Trip시 Arc방출 등 많은 문제점을 보이고 있다. 최종부하의 전단에 설치되는 저압차단기(Low voltage circuit-breakers)는 그 기능 및 역할이 큰 만큼 안전성을 중대시키는 것이 매우 중요하다. 본 논문은 국내에서 제조되는 30AF 소형 차단기의 사고유형과 제조사별 순시 Trip 동작속도의 시험 data를 확보하여 이를 분석하였다. 이는 향후 저압차단기의 안전에 관한 규격개정에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 사료된다.

  • 본 논문은 사고전압 감지형의 아크차단 제어회로에 대한 연구로써, 전기사고 발생 시 선간전압의 순간적인 전압감쇠를 감지하여 기존 차단기를 동작시키는 전압감지형 전기화재 예방장치이다. 현재 저압배전 계통에 사용중인 누전차단기, 배선용차단기 그리고 RCD 등은 전기화재의 주요 요인인 아크사고에 대해 보호능력이 없는 것으로 분석된다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 문제점들을 개선하기위하여 이전의 전류감지에 의한 아크사고 차단방식이 아닌 사고발생 시 전압파형의 왜곡을 이용한 새로운 전압감지형 아크차단 제어회로를 개발하여 전기화재를 예방하고자 한다. 제안한 아크차단 제어회로는 소형 경량으로 제작되는 장점과 다양한 동작분석을 통하여 그 실용성을 검증하였다.

  • A SCR static breaker was studied on the Resistive and inductive load, then on the overload break circuit using operational Amplifier. In this paper, the principal circuit required for forced commutation was voltage commutation by the introduction of a parallel Capacitor. The results obtained are follows; 1. In thecondition that the tima constant of R-C circuit is larger than the turn off time of SCR, the breaker has low transient phenomena and no recovery vol age. 2. By using OP Amplifier on the load circuit, overcurrent trip point will be able to adjust to the wide range of over current. 3. In the over current qrcuit, the power loss was reduced remarkably.

  • This paper describes an experiment of detecting a temperature and components of arc plasma of electrical circuit breaker with a spectroscopic system. The system includes an optical fiber, a monochromator which has three gratings from low to high resolution and ICCD of which time resolution is 50 ns. This system enables measuring a temperature and components of arc plasma of a circuit breaker which is generated and extinguished in a few ms. We use a Planck's law and Boltzmann Plot method for calculating a temperature of arc plasma. A Xenon lamp is used for calibrating the system and this is very important for calculating a temperature of arc plasma. In this study, Arc plasma of Ag and Cu contact was investigated and these represent the contact of low voltage and extra-ultra high voltage circuit breaker, respectively. 8 $kA_{rms}$ test current was applied with a capacitor bank.

  • This study on the characteristics of the leakage circuit breakers handles the rolls of each itemized parts of the mentioned apparatus and their influence in determining of the characteristic curve of leakage circuit breaker. Furthermore the differential current transforms in the mentioned apparatus for detecting the fault is handled as a heavy point.

  • Nowadays the diversity and large-capacity of electric appliances are strong effect on electrical fires augment in an alarming way. But, as the inactive response characteristics of the existing RCD (Residual Current protective Device) used on low voltage power distribution lines, so control of overload and electric short circuit faults, major causes of electrical fires, are not enough. Therefore this paper is confirmed the unreliability of the existing RCD by electrical faults simulation and is proposed a auxiliary trip device of RCD by using a high precision current sensor (namely, reed switch) for the prevention of electrical disasters in low voltage power distribution lines caused by overload or electric short circuit faults. The sensitive reed switch in the proposed ATD (auxiliary trip device) exactly detects the increased magnetic flux with the overload or the short current caused by a number of electrical faults, and then rapidly cuts off the existing RCD. The proposed auxiliary trip device of RCD is confirmed the excellent characteristics in response velocity and accuracy in comparison with the conventional circuit breaker through various operation performance analysis. The proposed ATD can also prevent electrical disaster, like as electrical fires, which resulted from the malfunction and inactive response characteristics of the existing RCD.

  • In this paper, arc current controller is designed for the interruption of arc fault current which is occurred in the low voltage network. Arc in electrical network have the characteristics of low current, high impedance and high frequency. Conventional controller does not have the arc current interrupt function. Hence, arc current controller is designed for the interruption of arc fault current.

  • Recently as the inactive response characteristics of the existing RCD(Residual Current protective Device) used on low voltage power distribution system, so control of overload and electric short circuit faults, major causes of electrical fires, are not enough. Therefore, this paper is proposed a prevention apparatus using neutral line voltage and semiconductor switching devices for the prevention of electrical disasters in low voltage power distribution system caused by overload or electric short circuit faults. The proposed prevention apparatus confirms the excellent characteristics in response velocity and accuracy in comparison with the conventional circuit breaker(RCD) through various operation performance analysis.
