수심의 제한을 받는 침수식생 개수로의 평균흐름 예측모형 개발 (Development of Mean Flow Model for Depth-Limited Vegetated Open-Channel Flows)

  • 침수식생 개수로 흐름은 식생영역과 상부영역에 서로 다른 흐름구조를 보인다. 즉, 식생영역에서 전단으로 인해 생성되는 난류는 억제되며 비교적 균일한 유속 분포를 보이며 상부영역에서는 일반 개수로 흐름과 유사한 흐름구조를 보인다. 이와 같이 두 상이한흐름구조가 결합된 복잡한 흐름특성으로 인해 침수식생 개수로흐름은 공학적인 관심의 대상이 되어왔다. 본 연구에서는 침수식생 개수로 흐름의 층적분 모형의 비교 분석을 수행하였다. 일반적으로 식생흐름의 층적분 모형은 층의 수에 따라 2층 및 3층모형으로 구분한다. 즉, 전체 수심을 식생영역과 상부영역으로 구분하는 2층모형과 식생영역을 바닥 조도의 영향 유무에 따라 내부 및 외부 식생영역으로 구분하는 3층모형으로 분류된다. 본 연구에서는 2층모형과 3층모형을 비교하였다. 다양한 실험조건에 적용한 결과, 3층모형이 식생영역에서 유속의 변화를 고려할 수 있으나 결과는 레이놀즈응력 분포에 민감하며, 적분된 유속은 2층모형에 의한 예측 결과가 더욱 정확한 것으로 나타났다. 3층모형에서 내부 식생영역의 결과가 전체 흐름구조에 미치는 영향이 무시할 수 있으므로 이 점을 착안하여 식생영역에서 유속 변화가 고려되는 수정 2층모형을 제시하였다. 수정 2층모형에서 가정하는 레이놀즈응력 분포는 상부영역에서는 선형, 식생영역에서는 멱함수 형으로 변화한다. 다양한 조건에 적용한 결과, 수정 2층모형이 대체로 기존의 모형과 비슷한 정도의 예측을 수행하나 식생밀도가 매우 작은 흐름의 경우 예측 결과가 불량한 것으로 나타났다.

Drag reduction for payload fairing of satellite launch vehicle with aerospike in transonic and low supersonic speeds

  • A forward-facing aerospike attached to a payload fairing of a satellite launch vehicle significantly alters its flowfield and decreases the aerodynamic drag in transonic and low supersonic speeds. The present payload fairing is an axisymmetric configuration and consists of a blunt-nosed body along with a conical section, payload shroud, boat tail and followed by a booster. The main purpose of the present numerical simulations is to evaluate flowfield and assess the performance of aerodynamic drag coefficient with and without aerospike attached to a payload fairing of a typical satellite launch vehicle in freestream Mach number range 0.8 ≤ M ≤ 3.0 and freestream Reynolds number range 33.35 × 106/m ≤ Re ≤ 46.75 × 106/m whichincludes the maximum aerodynamic drag and maximum dynamic conditions during ascent flight trajectory of the satellite launch vehicle. A numerical simulation has been carried out to solve time-dependent compressible turbulent axisymmetric Reynolds-averaged Navier-Stokes equations. The closure of the system of equations is achieved using the Baldwin-Lomax turbulence model. The aerodynamic drag reduction mechanism is analysed employing numerical results such as velocity vector plots, density and Mach contours in conjunction with the experimental flow visualization pictures. The variations of wall pressure coefficient over the payload fairing with and without aerospike are exhibiting different kind of flowfield characteristics in the transonic and low supersonic speeds. The numerically computed results are compared with schlieren pictures, oil flow patterns and measured wall pressure distributions and exhibit good agreement between them.

통계적 난류합성 모델을 이용한 원심홴 내부 광대역 소음 예측 (Prediction of Internal Broadband Noise of a Centrifugal Fan Using Stochastic Turbulent Synthetic Model)

  • The internal broadband noise of a centrifugal fan in a household refrigerator is predicted using hybrid CAA techniques based on stochastic turbulent synthetic model. First, the unsteady flow field around the centrifugal fan is predicted using computational fluid dynamics(CFD) method. Then, the turbulent flow field is synthesized by applying the stochastic turbulent synthetic technique to the predicted flow field. The aerodynamic noise sources of the centrifugal fan are modeled on a basis of the synthesized turbulent field. Finally, the internal broadband noise of the centrifugal fan is predicted using the boundary element method(BEM) and the modeled sources. The predicted noise spectrum is compared with the experimental data. It is found that the predicted result closely follows the experimental data. The proposed method can be used as an effective tool for designing low-noise fans without expensive computational cost required generally for the LES and DNS simulations to resolve the turbulence flow field responsible for the broadband noise.

  • 두 개의 쌍원통 실린더를 구성하고 있는 기름-물 펌프는 차세대 저진공 펌프로의 활용이 가능하다. 하지만 설계개선을 위한 유동 해석 결과가 충분하지 않다. 경제적 측면에서 상업화 이전에 수치해석 방법에 의한 유동해석이 요구되고 있다. 유동 해석에 사용되는 상업용 코드(Fluent)을 사용하여 펌프의 설계에 필요한 자료를 제공하였다. 쌍원통 실린더와 고정 실린더 사이의 속도와 압력 분포 등의 유동변수를 분석하기 위하여 2차원 해석을 수행하였다. 본 수치해석 방법은 쌍원통 실린더로 구성된 펌프의 성능향상에 유용하게 사용할 수 있다.

  • This paper was a study about noise reduction through flow stabilization in duct using experimental method and numerical analysis at the same time. To determine the fan's type three kinds of fans(axial fan, centrifugal fan, and axial fan with centrifugal type blades) was examined to investigate the suitability for in-line duct. As a result, under the equal number of rotation 2000 RPM, performance of an axial fan with centrifugal type blades was the most superior by 55dBA at 4.3CMM among other fans. After this, analyzed the results of the numerical analysis to find out the optimum design of pitch angle such as $0^{\circ}$, $10^{\circ}$, $15^{\circ}$ and $20^{\circ}$. The intensity of turbulence was low when pitch angle was $15^{\circ}$ and air volume became peak by 5.08 CMM. It was observed that axis component of velocity increased gradually when pitch angle increased from $0^{\circ}$ to $20^{\circ}$, and embodied noise reduction and improvement of air flow rate through flow stabilization.

국소교란에 의한 난류 경계층 유동의 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of Locally-Forced Turbulent Boundary Layer)

  • An unsteady numerical simulation was performed to analyze flow structures behind a local suction/blowing in a flat-plate turbulent boundary layer. The local forcing was given to the boundary layer flow by means of sinusoidally oscillating jet. A version of the unsteady $\kappa$-$\xi$-f(sub)u model (Rhee and Sung 2000) was employed. The Reynolds number based on the momentum thickness was about Re(sub)$\theta$=1700. The forcing frequency was varied in the range 0.011$\leq$f(sup)+$\leq$0.044 with a fixed forcing amplitude A(sub)o=0.4. The predicted results were compared and validated with the experimental data. It was shown that the unsteady locally-forced boundary layer flow is predicted well by the $\kappa$-$\xi$-f(sub)u model. The effect of the pitch angle of local forcing on the reduction of skin friction was also examined.

국소교란에 의한 난류박리 재부착 유동의 수치해석 (Numerical Simulation of Turbulent Separated and Reattaching Flows by Local Forcing)

  • An unsteady numerical simulation was performed for locally-forced separated and reattaching flow over a backward-facing step. The local forcing was given to the separated and reattaching flow by means of a sinusoidally oscillating jet from a separation line. A version of the $k-{\varepsilon}-f_{\mu}$ model was employed, in which the near-wall behavior without reference to distance and the nonequilibrium effect in the recirculation region were incorporated. The Reynolds number based on the step height (H) was fixed at $Re_H=33000$, and the forcing frequency was varied in the range $0{\leq}St_H{\leq}2$. The predicted results were compared and validated with the experimental data of Chun and Sung. It was shown that the unsteady locally-forced separated and reattaching flows are predicted reasonably well with the $k-{\varepsilon}-f_{\mu}$ model. To characterize the large-scale vortex evolution due to the local forcing, numerical flow visualizations were carried out.

Performance Enhancement of 20kW Regenerative Blower Using Design Parameters

  • This paper describes performance enhancement of a regenerative blower used for a 20 kW fuel cell system. Two design variables, bending angle of an impeller and blade thickness of an impeller tip, which are used to define an impeller shape, are introduced to enhance the blower performance. Internal flow of the regenerative blower has been analyzed with three-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations to obtain the blower performance. General analysis code, CFX, is introduced in the present work. SST turbulence model is employed to estimate the eddy viscosity. Throughout the numerical analysis, it is found that the thickness of impeller tip is effective to increase the blower efficiency in the present blower. Pressure is successfully increased up to 2.8% compared to the reference blower at the design flow condition. And efficiency is also enhanced up to 2.98 % compared to the reference one. It is noted that low velocity region disturbs to make strong recirculation flow inside the blade passages, thus increases local pressure loss. Detailed flow field inside the regenerative blower is also analyzed and compared.

  • 핵연료집합체 부수로 유동장에 대한 상세한 정보에 기초해 교차류를 정확히 예측하는 것은 핵연료의 성능을 해석하는데 중요한 요소이다. 본 연구에서는 저-Reynolds 수 k-$\varepsilon$ 난류모형을 채택하여 인접한 두 부수로 사이에 발생하는 교차류를 해석하였다 또한, 2차유동을 정확히 모사하기 위해서 비등방성 대수응력모형을 사용하였다. 이상의 난류 모형은 유한요소법을 통해 해석되었으며 가용한 실험자료와 비교하여 검증하였다. 그리고, 부수로 유동장에 대한 수치해석 결과를 이용하여 횡방향 합력손실계수의 상관식을 구성하였다. 상관식은 교차류를 제공하는 부수로의 축방향 속도에 대한 교차류의 속도비, 제공받는 부수로의 Reynolds 수 그리고 Pitch-to-diameter의 함수로 구성되었다.
