This paper presents a low-power and high-speed pulsed flip-flop based on dual-precharging and conditional discharging. The dual-precharging operation minimizes the parasitic capacitance of each precharge node, resulting in high-speed operation. The conditional-discharging operation minimizes the redundant transitions of precharge nodes, resulting in low-power operation. Linear feedback shift register (LFSR) designed in a $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS technology using the proposed flip-flop achieves 32% power reduction as compared to conventional design.
In this paper, a totem pole PFC was structured in two methods with FET and diode for low-speed switch while GaN FET was used for high-speed switch. Internal power loss, power conversion efficiency and steady-state characteristics of the two methods were compared in the totem pole bridgeless PFC circuit which is widely applied in large-capacity and high-efficiency switching rectifier of 500W or more. In order to compare and confirm the steady-state characteristics under equal conditions, a 2kW class totem pole bridgeless PFC was constructed and the experimental results were analyzed. From the experimental results, it was confirmed that the low-speed switch operation has a large difference in efficiency due to the internal conduction loss of the low-speed switch at a low input voltage. Especially, input power factor and load characteristic showed no difference regardless of the low-speed switch operation.

This paper analyzes the losses of a Steinmetz connection three-phase induction motor which is supplied by a single-phase source. The T-type equivalent circuit which is taken no-load losses into account is used to determine phase converter capacitive reactances at starting and rated speed by using the condition of the minimum voltage unbalance. The starting and the operating capacitor are replaced at the slip of the same voltage unbalance factor points which are depicted using two capacitive reactances. The operation characteristics are investigated by comparing with those of three-phase balanced operation to find the feasibility of single-phase operation. To analyze the losses of this motor, the output power decrease factor(OPDF), the loss ratio(LR), the no load loss ratio(NLLR), the copper loss ratio(CLR), the stator copper loss ratio(SCLR), and the rotor copper loss ratio(RCLR) are defined and simulated in the whole slip range. The simulated results show that OPDF is maintained almost uniformly, LR is low at low speed and high at high speed, CLR is higher !ban NLLR, but CLR varies concavely and NLLR varies convexly at high speed, SCLR is low at low speed and high at high speed, but SCLR varies convexly at high speed, and RCLR is nearly opposite to SCLR.

Recently, active efforts are being made for future Si CMOS technology by various researches on emerging devices and materials. Capability of low power consumption becomes increasingly important criterion for advanced logic devices in extending the Si CMOS. In this work, a junctionless field-effect transistor (JLFET) with ultra-thin poly-Si (UTP) channel is designed aiming the sub-10-nm technology for low-power (LP) applications. A comparative study by device simulations has been performed for the devices with crystalline and polycrystalline Si channels, respectively, in order to demonstrate that the difference in their performances becomes smaller and eventually disappears as the 10-nm regime is reached. The UTP JLFET would be one of the strongest candidates for advanced logic technology, with various virtues of high-speed operation, low power consumption, and low-thermal-budget process integration.
${\bullet}$ Silicon Carbide (SiC) had excellent material properties as the base material for next generation of power semiconductor. In developing SiC MOSFET, gate oxide reliability issues had to be first overcome before commercial application. Besides, a high and stable gate-source voltage threshold $V_{GS(th)}$ is also an important parameter for operation robustness. SiC MOSFET with such characteristics can directly use existing high-speed IGBT gate driver IC's. ${\bullet}$ The linear voltage drop characteristics of SiC MOSFET will bring lower conduction loss averaged over full AC cycle compared to similarly rate IGBT. Lower switching loss enable higher switching frequency. Using package with auxiliary source terminal for gate driving will further reduce switching losses. Dynamic characteristics can fully controlled by simple gate resistors. ${\bullet}$ The low switching losses characteristics of SiC MOSFET can substantially reduce power losses in high switching frequency operation. Significant power loss reduction is also possible even at low switching frequency and low switching speed. in T-type 3-level topology, SiC MOSFET solution enable three times higher switching freqeuncy at same efficiency.
Turbo-charging or Super-charging has been used to boost engine power for Gasoline Engine and Diesel Engine came to the world at the beginning of $20^{th}$ century. So far Turbo-Charger has enjoyed a high reputation in the charging filed for its technical advantages such as no demand of operation power from engine and an excellent charging effect in the event of a static operation at mid- and high engine speed. A mechanically driven Super-Charger, however, is now emerging in order to meet demands of the age of speed such as high engine power for a quick change of the driving mode - high engine torque even at low engine speed. Since Super-Charger needs driving power from engine, it cannot improve its relatively higher fuel consumption against that of Turbo-Charger. This negative point is still an obstacle to the wide use of Super-Charger. Super-Charger using Screw-type compressor which has already had a considerable base in air compressor market will fulfill this purpose of improving fuel consumption by minimizing operation power owing to no charging at idling or partially loading driving. This study aims to develop power control concept to achieve this minimization of operation power.

Turbo- or Super-charging has been used to boost engine power for Gasoline- and Diesel Engine since beginning of 20th century. So far turbo-charger has enjoyed a high reputation in the charging field for its technical advantages such as no demand of operation power from engine and an excellent charging effect in a static operation at mid- and high engine speed. A mechanically driven super-charger, however, is now popular due to the high engine power at quick change of the driving mode - high engine torque even at low engine speed. Since super-charger needs operation power from engine, it is difficult to improve its relatively higher fuel consumption than that of turbo-charger. This negative point is still an obstacle to the wide use of supercharger. Super-charger using screw-type compressor will fulfill the purpose to reduce fuel consumption by minimizing operation power owing to no charge at idling or part load driving condition. This study aims to develop power control concept to achieve the minimization of operation power. A screw type super-charger was modified in design partially and installed with an internal bypass valve and a bypass tube to control charging pressure at part load. The various control concepts show a possibility to reduce operation power of super-charger.
This paper presents development of variable speed generation (VSG) system with energy saving function. The rubber tyred gantry crane (RTGC) requires the power from diesel-engine. Significant fuel savings by reducing the engine speed can be achieved, because all of operation modes except hoisting are required lower power than rated value of engine. When low speed operation output voltage of generator is decrease until acceptable range of motor driver inverters and auxiliary load supplier. According to power demand engine speed is varying from 20 to 60Hz, and voltage is varying between 210Vac and 480Vac. When idle mode or low power operation dc/dc converter operates by constant output voltage control and inverters dc site voltage is compensated by it. This paper proposed 3-phase interleaved boost converter which has the same structure as the commercially available 3-phase inverter and current sharing capability. 400kW interleaved converter is designed and a performance of converter is evaluated through several experiments with a RTGC system. Energy saving VSG system can cut down fuel consumption by 36% and 21.3% at idle and unidirectional load operations.
This paper deals with the suppression of subharmonic current oscillation of V/F controlled high speed induction motor drive in turbo blower applications. High speed induction motor has a relatively low stator impedance for high speed operation and therefore the dc link voltage ripple may result in subharmonic current oscillation at the steady state in high speed operation. This paper shows that the subharmonic oscillation is caused by the dc link voltage ripple and also proposes the suppression method, which generates the compensation voltage through the proportional current controller to reduce the subharmonic current oscillation. The simulation and experimental results show that the proposed suppression method reduces the subharmonic current oscillation to the acceptable low level in turbo blower applications.
Non-isolated OSAKA Converter, which removes a three-phase transformer, is described in this paper. The converter switches once in every half cycle of an AC commercial power source. Therefore, it can solve many problems caused by the high frequency operation. The proposed converter achieves the soft-switching operation and the EMI noise can be reduced. In this circuit, the resonant capacitor, which is used for the soft-switching operation, is utilized for the improvement of an input current waveform. To achieve low cost and compact structure, non-isolated OSAKA converter removes a three-phase transformer of the OSAKA converter. By removing the three-phase transformer, three phase currents occur the interferences each other. To avoid the interference, a new switching method for non-isolated OSAKA converter is preposed. The converter can be constructed by the low-speed large power devices. The converter generates the low distorted input current waveforms with high power factor.
