The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of loneliness on drinking, smoking, and health perception (symptom pattern & subjective health) in college students. The convenience sample consisted of 417 college students attending four universities. The Revised UCLA Loneliness Scale(RULS) and the Symptom Pattern Scale were used to collect the data. In this study, 84.7% of the subjects used alcohol, with a mean of 5.52 drinks per week, and 32. 9% of the subjects smoked for a mean of 5.08 cigarette packs per week during the previous month. The mean score loneliness measured by the RULS was 40.82, indicating that the subjects were moderately lonely. The majority of the subjects had a low level of symptom pattern and evaluated their health as either very good or good. The level of alcohol drinking and the smoking increased and symptom pattern decreased with age. Female students were lonelier than male students in this study. Also, the female students had a lower level of symptom pattern and evaluated their health worse than the male students. Male students consumed more alcohol and smoked more cigarette than female students. Living arrangement was significantly related to the level of loneliness. The subjects who lived with their parents and siblings were less lonely than those who lived with their friends, or relatives or who lived in a dormitory. Age and religion were not related to the level of loneliness. The level of loneliness influenced drinking, symptom pattern, and subjective health. The study found that subjects who were more lonely consumed alcohol less, had a higher level of symptom pattern, and perceived their health worse than those who were less lonely. Smoking was not influenced by loneliness in this study.

This study investigated the influences of reciprocal peer tutoring (RPT) strategy on middle school students' science achievement, self-efficacy, perception of instruction by grouping method and science achievement level. Eighth graders from a middle school in Seoul were assigned to comparison, homogeneous RPT, and heterogeneous RPT groups. The students were taught about 'separation of mixtures' for 8 class hours. After the instructions, a science achievement test consisting of three subtests (knowledge, understanding, and application), a self-efficacy test, and a questionnaire about the perception of instruction were administered. The analysis of the results revealed that the scores of heterogeneous RPT group, regardless of the students prior science achievement level, were significantly higher than those of the other groups in the knowledge and understanding subtests, and the self-efficacy test. The scores of homogeneous RPT group were significantly higher than those of the comparison group in the knowledge subtest but not in the understanding subtest and the self-efficacy test. The low-level students in heterogeneous RPT group performed better in the science achievement test and the application subtest than those in the other groups. The high-level students in RPT groups performed better in the science achievement test than those in comparison group. However, there was no significant difference for the application subtest scores of the high-level students of the three groups. Most students in RPT groups perceived positively on the instructions. The students in heterogeneous RPT group and low-level students especially showed more positive perception of the instruction than those in homogeneous RPT group and high-level students.

Through a investigation of the physical activity status of 1794 undergraduates who were non-sports majors from freshman to senior in Jiangxi Normal University, to analyze physical fitness status of college students with different physical activity levels. The results showed that in physical activity, high-intensity physical activity of male was higher than female, while medium-intensity and low-intensity (insufficient) physical activity of female was higher than male. College students' high-intensity physical activity group's physical test scores were better than the medium-intensity physical activity group, and the medium-intensity physical activity group was superior to the low physical activity group. In terms of physical fitness, among the test indicators of body shape and physiological function, the vital capacity and body mass index of male and female were ranked at a pass level. In the physical fitness test indicators, the performance of college students' endurance qualities was better while the overall performance of strength qualities was lower. The overall fitness of college students was ranked at a pass level, and the physical test scores of female were better than male.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to evaluate perception and satisfaction with Health Education for elementary school students in grade 5 and 6, using data on national health education gathered since March, 2009. Methods: Data were collected by way of a questionnaire, from 475 elementary school students in grades 5 and 6 from February 1~15, 2010. Statistical analysis of collected data was performed using frequency, t-test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis, using SPSS 18.0 software. Result: Levels of health promoting behavior, interest, importance, and satisfaction were relatively high, respectively, and those of students in grade 5 were higher than those of students in grade 6. Levels of Satisfaction with frequency and educational environment were relatively low. Among the factors found to influence satisfaction with health education, interest in health education was found to be the most influential(grade 5:${\beta}$=.279, p<.001, grade 6:${\beta}$=.306, p<.001). Conclusion: Students expressed a high level of satisfaction with regular health education. Expansion of health education frequency and health education-only-classrooms is needed. To improve the effect of health education, constant acquisition of knowledge of subjects' perception and satisfaction is needed. In addition, contents and teaching methods that showed low level of satisfaction should be reformed.
Objective: This descriptive, cross sectional study was conducted to examine the effect of levels of self-efficacy on children's perceptions of pros and cons of smoking. Methodology: The sample was 233 fifth-grade students. Data were collected in September 2010 using the Socio-Demographic Data Collection Form, Self Efficacy Scale Child Form and Child Decision Balance Scale and analyzed via percentage calculations and t test with the SPSS 11.00 statistical package program. Results: Average age of the students participating in the research was $11.1{\pm}0.41$, 49.8 % (n: 116) being female and 50.2 % (n:117) male. The difference between the score averages of the pros of smoking perceptions of children with a high self-efficacy level and of those with a low self efficacy level (t=2.117, p=.042) and the difference between the score averages of the cons of smoking perceptions of children with a high self-efficacy level and of those with a low self-efficacy level (t=2.206, p=.035) were found to be statistically significant. Conclusions: Children's positive perceptions of smoking were low and negative perceptions high when their self efficacy levels were high. Conversely, children's positive perceptions of smoking were high when their self efficacy levels were low.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the nutrition knowledge, perception, and intake frequency of milk and milk products among middle school students as well as provide the basic data needed for increasing milk and milk product consumption. To achieve the purpose of this study, a survey with 385 students of four middle schools located in Chuncheon was conducted. The level of nutrition knowledge of milk and milk products in females was slightly higher than that in males (p<0.01). Flavored milk and ice cream were preferred the most in each category, and 'taste' influenced the selection of milk and milk products the most. The intake frequency of whole milk was the highest, and that of flavored milk was lowest among various milks. Ice cream showed the highest intake frequency while cheese showed the lowest among milk products. Male students showed higher intake frequency of milk and milk products. Groups having high level of nutrition knowledge showed the highest intake of whole milk, whereas groups having a low level of nutrition knowledge preferred processed milk, low fat or non-fat milk, and cheese the lowest.

The purpose of this study is to examine whether the visual materials presented in the science textbooks coincide with those visual materials that are preferred the most by students. After analyzing the visual materials presented in the unit "Molecular Motion and Change of State" of science textbooks for the first grade of middle school, questionnaires by teaching-learning process are made. Thereafter, students are requested to select those types of visual materials that were preferred by them by process and describe their reasons for the selection. According to the results of the survey of students' perception, students at the high science achievement level prefer those visual materials that were presented conceptually and implicatively, while students at the low science achievement level prefer concrete and detailed visual materials. Except for the learning motivation process, the proportion of non-preferred visual materials is higher in the remaining processes and those visual materials that were presented in the science textbooks are much different from those visual materials that were preferred by students.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between lifestyle types, demographic variables, and clothing consumption orientations of male and female adolescents. The method of this study was a survey research by using questionnaires. Subjects were 393 high school students in Seoul. Four lifestyle types of adolescents were derived by cluster analysis: 'digital orientation type', 'material orientation type', 'positive enterprise type', and 'achievement orientation type'. The material oriented students spent high expense on clothes, had higher preference of imported products, had more sensuous consumption orientations, did more impulsive buying, and were more influenced by advertisements than other types of students. Digital oriented students had mothers with low educational background, low academic records, spent small expense on clothes, and had less sensuous consumption orientation. There were more male students than female students in positive enterprise type and the students of this type had upper middle academic records, had higher sensuous consumption orientation and did less impulsive buying. There were more female students than male students in achievement oriented type and this type had high academic records, had mothers with high educational background, and spent small expense on clothes. They had low level on most of the clothing consumption orientation and were especially less influenced by advertisement. This research confirms that the clothing consumption orientations are associated with the lifestyle of adolescent.
This study was performed for the purpose of establishing proper dietary behaviors and improving sodium intake status by investigating nutrition knowledge, dietary behaviors, and food intake frequency related to sodium in 398 university students living in Gyeonggi-do and Incheon. Female students showed a higher rate of eating out more than five times a week as well as daily snack intake than male students. Female students showed a higher score for sodium-related nutrition knowledge than male students, whereas male students showed higher sodium intake than female students. Subjects who showed a higher frequency of eating out and snack intake also showed a higher salt intake ratio and sodium-related nutrition knowledge. Subjects with higher scores related to sodium-related nutrition knowledge showed a higher low salt intake ratio and incidence of low sodium food intake. From this research, depending on the level of nutrition knowledge related to sodium university students showed differences in dietary behavior related to sodium intake. This result would be helpful to develop lower sodium training materials specific to low sodium food selection tips, reading nutrition labels, and so on.
The purposes of this study were to analyze factors of mass customization for hair salon's customers and to identify the differences among groups segmented by mass customization level. The self-administered questionnaire was used for data collection. The respondents were 423 women using hair salons. Factors of hair salon's mass customization implementation were sanitary condition & hair salon's staff, hair styling technique, communication service, tangible service, monetary support, convenience service, and visible service. Hair salon's customers were categorized into the high-level of needs group, the middle-level of needs group, and the low-level of needs group. The high-level of needs group consisted of university students or women with a higher education or higher income. This group selected beauty salons by the promotion or advertisements, preferred their own unique hair style or a little-fashionable hair style, and showed a lower level of patronage. The middle-level of needs group consisted of university students or women with a higher education or higher incomes. They selected hair salons by service prices, preferred a basic hair style, and showed a midium level of patronage. The low-level of needs group consisted of women with lower education or lower income. They selected beauty salons by career of hair dressers or the promotion or advertisement, preferred highly fashionable hair style, and showed high level of patronage.
