  • The classification of the effect of ionospheric disturbances on the radio occultation signal amplitude has been introduced based on an analysis of more than 2000 seances of radio occultation measurements per formed with the help of the CHAMP German satellite. The dependence of the histograms of variations in the radio occultation signal amplitude on the IMF variation index has been revealed. It has been indicated that it is possible to introduce the radio occultation index characterizing the relation between ionospheric disturbances and solar activity. An amplitude radio occultation (RO) method is proposed to study connection between the ionospheric and solar activity on a global scale. Sporadic amplitude scintillation observed in RO experiments contain important information concerning the seasonal, geographical, and temporal distributions of the ionospheric disturbances and depend on solar activity. The probability of strong RO amplitude variations (RO $S_4$ index greater than 0.2) in the CHAMP RO signals diminishes sharply with the weakening of solar activity from 2001 to 2008. The general number of RO events with strong amplitude variations can be used as an indicator of the ionospheric activity. We found that during 2001-2008 the daily globally averaged RO $S_{4a}$ index depends essentially on solar activity. The maximum occurred in January 2002, minimum has been observed in summer 2008. Different temporal behavoir of $S_{4a}$ index has been detected for polar (with latitude greater than $60^{\circ}$) and low latitude (moderate and equatorial) regions. For polar regions $S_{4a}$ index is slowly decreasing with solar activity. In the low latitude areas $S_{4a}$ index is sharply oscillating, depending on the solar ultraviolet emission variations. The different geographical behavoir of $S_{4a}$ index indicates different origin of ionospheric plasma disturbances in polar and low latitude areas. Origin of the plasma disturbances in the polar areas may be connected with influence of solar wind, the ultraviolet emission of the Sun may be the main cause of the ionospheric irregularities in the low latitude zone. Therefore, the $S_{4a}$ index of RO signal is important radio physical indicator of solar activity.

  • This study was conducted to investigate differences in energy content of Quercus mongolica stands in the Republic of Korea with respect to latitude and altitude. Study sites were located in Mt. Joongwang, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do (altitude 1,300 m, 1,000 m, 800 m), Mt. Taehwa, Gwangju-gun, Gyeonggi-do (altitude 350 m), Mt. Wolak, Jecheon-si, Chungcheongbuk-do (altitude 300 m), Mt. Baekwoon, Gwangyang-gun, Jeollanam-do (altitude 800 m), and Mt. Halla, Jeju-do (altitude 1,000 m) by northern and southern aspect. Total energy content and annual energy fixation of Q. mongolica stands were 2,916-6,550 GJ/ha and 250-440 GJ/ha, respectively during the study period, Lower latitude (NE) stands of Q. mongolica showed more energy contents and annual energy fixation than higher latitude stands. Energy content and annual energy fixation of Q. mongolica stands were increased in low altitude. Energy content of Q. mongolica stands were higher in northern aspect than southern aspect. However, there were no significant differences in annual energy fixation between the aspects. Annual energy fixation of Q. mongolica stands was highly correlated with warm index and followed by descending orders: altitude, stand age, aspect, annual solar radiation and latitude.

  • In appilcation of wide latitude HR-C film to chest x-ray examination, former x-ray diagnosis area is larger and diagnostic information has great deal of promotion. HR-C film is compare to former x-ray film is larger latitude and density level is small, reading is very easily. Especially, high estimate that is in characteristic curve linearity of toe part is good, contrast of low density made good shape and not good describe to overlap is diagnostic information increase mediastinum portion etc.

  • This study was conducted to examine the energy content and photosynthetic efficiency of Quercus mongolica stands in Korea. Study sites were located in Mt. Joongwang, Gangwon-do (1,000 m and 800 m above sea level), Mt. Baekwoon, Jeollanam-do (800 m a.s.l.), Mt. Halla, Jeju-do (1,000 m a.s.l.), Mt. Taehwa, Gyeonggi-do (350 m a.s.l.), and Mt. Wolak, Chungcheongbuk-do (300 m a.s.l.). Total energy content and annual energy accumulation in Q. mongolica stands were 2,916-6,435 GJ/ha and 284-441 GJ/ha, respectively. Lower latitude (N.L.) stands of Q. mongolica showed higher energy contents than higher latitude stands, but Quercus stands in Mt. Baekwoon had higher annual energy accumulation than those in Mt. Halla located at a lower latitude. During the growing season, the photosynthetic efficiency of 60 to 70-year-old Q. mongolica stands ranged from 1.19 to 1.34% while that of 35-year-old stands did from 1.87 to 1.95%. There were no significant differences in photosynthetic efficiency among the latitudes because solar radiation was higher in low latitudes.

  • Reports of a global decline in pollinator populations, especially mason bees, have raised concerns regarding the maintenance of pollination interactions. Although addressing local factors causing bee decline is a potential mitigation strategy at the landscape scale, regional rates and high-latitude threats to bee diversity are unclear. We investigated the distribution of mason bees (Osmia. spp. (O. pedicornis, O. corniforns, O. taurus, and O. satoi) and measured species richness and species ratios at regional, latitudinal, and altitudinal scales. We examined the association between bee species richness and three putative environmental conditions: high-low, altitude-dependent, and latitude-dependent. The species richness of the O. pedicornis bee was the highest and it was found between latitudes 35° and 37°, and at 500-600 m in both the northern and southern hemispheres, showing an inverse latitudinal gradient of bee species richness in South Korea. Mason bee species richness and global climate are important predictors of flowering plant diversity. Climate change threatens bee and vascular plant diversity; however, the overlap between bee abundance and plant diversity can be improved by employing suitable conservation strategies.

  • In this paper, changes in the intensity (e.g., central pressure and maximum sustained wind speed) of Tropical Cyclone (TC) in summer in the regions located at $30^{\circ}N$ in East Asia from 1988 to 1991 were found. The intensity of TC from 1991 to 2007 was much higher than that of TC from 1965 to 1988. The reason for this was that the frequency of TCs passing China from 1991 to 2007 was much lower than that of TCs from 1965-1988 because a northeasterly wind caused by high-pressure circulation in East Asia got severer along the East Asian coast. Instead, TCs moved from the eastern region of the Tropical West Pacific to Korea and Japan mainly after passing the East China Sea due to the low-pressure circulation strengthened in the subtropical waters of East Asia. In addition, low Vertical Wind Shear (VWS) was created along the mid-latitude regions of East Asia and the main path of TCs from 1991 to 2007. Most of the regions in the Northwestern Pacific showed higher Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from 1991 to 2007, and had a good environment where TCs were able to maintain a higher intensity on the mid-latitude. In particular, a low sensible heat flux occurred due to high snow depth in East Asia in the spring of 1991 to 2007. Accordingly, the lower layer of East Asia showed high-pressure circulation, and the sea surrounding East Asia showed low-pressure circulation. Thus, the typical west-high, east-low pattern of winter atmospheric pressure was shown. The possibility of snowfall in East Asia in spring to be used as a factor for predicting the summer intensity of TC in the mid-latitude regions of East Asia was insinuated. The characteristics of TC in a low-latitude region were the same in Korea. The latest intensity of TCs got higher, and the landing location of TCs gradually changed from the west coast to the south coast.

  • The long-term linear trend of global sea-to-air dimethyl sulfide (DMS) flux was analyzed over a 16-year time span (2000~2015), based on satellite observation data. The emission rates of DMS (i.e. DMS flux) in the global ocean were estimated from sea surface DMS concentrations, which were constructed with chlorophyll a (Chl-a) concentrations and mixed layer depths (MLD), and transfer velocity from sea to air, which was parameterized with sea surface wind (SSW) and sea surface temperature (SST). In general, the DMS flux in the global ocean exhibited a gradual decreasing pattern from 2000 (a total of 12.1 Tg/yr) to 2015 (10.7 Tg/yr). For the latitude band ($10^{\circ}$ interval between $0^{\circ}$ and $60^{\circ}$), the DMS flux at the low latitude of the Northern (NH) and Southern hemisphere (SH) was significantly higher than that at the middle latitude. The seasonal mean DMS flux was highest in winter followed by in summer in both hemispheres. From the long-term analysis with the Mann-Kendall (MK) statistical test, a clear downward trend of DMS flux was predicted to be broad over the global ocean during the study period (NH: $-0.001{\sim}-0.036{\mu}mol/m^2/day\;per\;year$, SH: $-0.011{\sim}-0.051{\mu}mol/m^2/day\;per\;year$). These trend values were statistically significant (p < 0.05) for most of the latitude bands. The magnitude of the downward trend of DMS flux at the low latitude in the NH was somewhat higher than that at the middle latitude during most seasons, and vice versa for the SH. The spatio-temporal characteristics of DMS flux and its long-term trend were likely to be primarily affected not only by the SSW (high positive correlation of r = 0.687) but also in part by the SST (r = 0.685).

  • THE STUDY ABOUT CHARACTERISTICS OF PHOTO RESIST ITSELF (MINIMUM RESOLUTION, DEPTH OF FOCUS MARGIN AND CRITICAL DIMENSION CONTROL LATITUDE) WAS DONE AND REPORTED. THREE TYPES OF PHOTO RESISTS WERE TESTED. THE FIRST IS THE LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT PHOTO-RESIST SHOWING THE NARROW DISTRIBUTION OF MOLECULAR WEIGHT (LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT CONTROL TYPE), THE SECOND IS A PHOTO-RESIST CONTAINING THE INNER CONTRAST ENCHANCEMENT MATERIAL (INNER CEM TYPE) AND THE THIRD IS A NORMAL PHOTO-RESIST (HIGH MOLECULAR WEIGHT TYPE). THE INNER CEM TYPE AND THE LOW MOLECULAR WEIGHT CONTROL TYPE PHOTO-RESIST ARE MORE IMPROVED PHOTO-RESISTS. IT PROVED THAT THE MINIMUM RESOLUTION WAS IMPROVED BY 0.2 - 0.3 um, THE DEPTH OF FOCUS MARGIN WAS IMPROVED BY 0.8 - 1.2 um AND THE C.D. CONTROL LATITUIDE WAS IMPROVED.
