We tested the hypothesis that alpine plants have special physiological and biochemical mechanisms in addition to their structural adaptation in order to survive under extreme conditions. The photosynthetic organs of Pinus pumila were used to examine the seasonal changes in sugar concentration, antioxidative enzyme, and lipid peroxidation. The concentrations of sucrose, glucose, fructose and reducing sugar were the highest in the leaves in April. But sugar contents in buds and inner barks did not respond sensitively on temperature change. Meanwhile superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity responded sensitively on the change of temperature and SOD in all tissues maintained high activity in April. Meanwhile anthocyanin content increased rapidly in June but the increase of anthocyanin content was not enough to prevent their tissues from the damage by the exposure of high temperature or other stress. In conclusion, under low temperature condition, P. pumila increased the concentration of soluble sugars and SOD activity in their tissues in order to overcome extreme environmental condition. But in summer, these stress defense system against high temperature might be disturbed slightly. This results in the increase of malondialdehyde (MDA) contents in three tissues by lipid peroxidation.
Recently, ammonia leak occurred frequently in the domestic refrigeration manufacturing facilities. Ammonia caused great damage to the environment and human health in the event of an accident as combustible gases and toxic gases. After considering the types of ammonia accidents of domestic refrigeration manufacturing facilities and selected accident scenarios and to analyze the risk analysis through Impact range estimates and frequency analysis and there was a need to establish measures to minimize accident damage. In this study, depending on the method of analysis quantitative risk assessment we analyzed the risk of the receiver tank of ammonia system. Scenario analysis conditions were set according to the 'Technical guidelines for the selection of accident scenario' under the chemicals control act and 'Guidelines for chemical process quantitative risk analysis' of center for chemical process safety. The risk estimates were utilized for consequence analysis and frequency analysis by SAFETI program of DNV, event tree analysis methodology and part count methodology. The individual risk of ammonia system was derived as 7.71E-04 / yr, social risk were derived as 1.17E-03 / yr. The derived risk was confirmed to apply as low as reasonably practicable of the national fire protection association and through risk calculation, it can be used as a way to minimize accidents ammonia leakage accident damage.

The purpose of this study is to develop and commercialize a paddle-type fluidized dryer. The drying system used in this study, was designed to attach a paddle-type fluidized mixer to a dryer. The drying system is based on the drying method to generate thermal contacts, as fluidized layers are generated due to a paddle mechanism. Accordingly, the time of drying is short and material damage is very little. Also, the drying system operates as a closer system so it can be utilized not only for food and chemical materials, but also for environmental pollution materials. According to its performance test, the drying system is possible to dry low-moisture contents and its drying performance is outstanding. In conclusion, the drying system designed for this study, is likely to have great potential for commercialization.

In this paper, we developed a vehicle control terminal using IoT and low-power long-distance communication (NB-IoT) technology. This system collects information on the location and status of a parked vehicle, and transmits the vehicle status to the vehicle owner's terminal in real time with low power to prevent vehicle theft, and in the case of a vehicle in motion, When primary information about the vehicle, such as an impact, is collected and transmitted to the server, the server analyzes the relevant data to generate secondary information on traffic congestion, road damage, and safety accidents. By sending it, you can know the exact arrival time of the vehicle at its destination. This terminal device is an IoT gateway for a vehicle and can be connected to various wired and wireless sensors inside the vehicle. In addition, the data collected from vehicle maintenance, efficient operation, and vehicles can be usefully used in the private or public sector.
Bullet embolism is a potential complication of a gunshot wound, especially with a low-velocity missile. This is because the trajectory of the low-velocity bullet can be significantly slowed as it passes through tissue. An unusual form of travel can occur in which the bullet enters the vasculature but does not have enough kinetic energy to create a through-and-through wound, leading it to remain inside the vasculature. Once inside the vasculature, the bullet could migrate to different parts of the body, potentially causing complications such as ischemia, becoming a source of thromboembolism, or functioning as a nidus for infection. The management of a bullet embolism varies from case to case, as each patient with this issue has a unique body habitus that can result in infinite possibilities of the trajectory and destination of the bullet embolus. Additional damage to surrounding vasculature or tissue can occur, as well as embolization of the bullet to critical areas of the body. Here we present the case of a 72-year-old man who had a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest with a low-velocity bullet, which penetrated the right atrium of the heart. It traveled into the venous vasculature through the right atrium, into the inferior vena cava, and eventually settled in the right internal iliac vein. He refused further intervention and management after initial workup and resuscitation.

In this research, it used cement powder and reduction slag, which generates high hydration heat in hydration reaction without heat cure below $-5^{\circ}C$ degree. Purpose of final research is preventing freezing and thawing by making the compressive strength 5MPa in 3days below zero temperature due to own heat of concrete. and it is the result of physical characteristic and thermal property evaluation of reduction slag. Because reduction slag generates high hydration heat, compressive strength development is excellent. By generating highly hydration heat by $C_{12}A_7$ and $C_3A$ in reduction slag, compressive strength is developed in low temperature. In case of displacing only reduction slag without $SO_3$, it is indicated that quick-setting occurs by shortage of $SO_3$. For preventing quick-setting, gypsum is used essentially. According to this research result, in case of using reduction slag and gypsum as a ternary system, compressive strength developed 5MPa in 3 days below zero temperature. It is identified to prevent early frost damage of concrete below zero temperature.

To evaluate an effect of liver xanthine oxidase on the induction of liver damage, carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) was intraperitoneally injected twice at 0.1ml/100g body weight to the rate fed a low (LP)or high protein diet(HP) while the control group fed LP or HP received only olive oil. The changing rate of liver xanthine oxidas activity was compared with that of a free radical generating enzyme, liver aniline hydroxylase and a scavenging enzyme, glutathions S-transferase activity between the rate fed a LP and those fed HP, and the two groups treated with CCl4. Concomitantly, the degree of liver damage which could be considered as the paramete for CCl4 metabolism in case of CCl4-intoxicated animal was observed in the present experimental conditions and the effect of allopurinol, xanthine oxidase inhibitor, on the CCl4-toxicity of rate liver was alos demostrated. On the other hand, the comparative effect of actinomycin D on the liver and serum xanthine oxidase of CCl4-treated rats fed HP with that of those fed LP and the kinetics of purifed liver enzyme from the liver of CCl4-treated rats fed HP was also compared with that of those fed LP to clarify the differences of xanthine oxidase activity between two groups. The increasing rate of liver weigth/body wt, serum levels of ALT and the decreasing rate of hepatic ALT activity and protein contents to each control group were higher in CCl4-treated rats fed HP than those fed LP. Under the animal models as indentified by the present data herein, the liver xanthine oxidase activity was higher in CCl4-treated rats fed HP than those fed LP, and the control group fed HP also showed the much higher activity xanthine oxidase than that fed LP, whereas there were no differences in the activity of hepatic aniline hydroxylase and glutathions S-transferase between the two group treated with CCl4. Although the hepatic aniline hydroxylase activity was somewhat higher in the rats fed HP than those fed LP, the increasing rate of liver xanthine oxidase to the rats fed LP was higher in those fed HP than that of liver aniline hydroxylase. The degree of liver damage identified such as liver weight and serum ALT activity was less in the CCl4-treated rats pretreated with allopurinol. These results suggest that even a system at which xanthine oxidase acts as well as the drug metabolizing enzyme may influence the acelatin of CCl4 metabolism. In addition, the purified liver xanthine oxidase from CCl4-treated rats fed HP showed decreased Km value when compared to its control group. The Km value of liver xanthine oxidase of CCl4-treated rats fed LP showed a similar Km value with its control group. Furthermore, the decreasing rate of liver and serum xanthine oxidase acitivity in CCl4-treated rats pretreated with actinomycin D to the CCl4-treated rats was higher in rats fed HP than in those fed LP. These results suggest that the inductino of xanthine oxidase in CCl4-treated rats fed HP may be greater than in those fed LP.
Background: Reactive oxygen and nitrogen are produced by rheumatoid arthritis (RA) synovial tissue and can induce mutations in key genes. Normally, this process is prevented by a DNA mismatch repair (MMR) system that maintains sequence fidelity. Key members of the MMR system include MutS${\alpha}$ (comprised of hMSH2 and hMSH6), which can sense and repair single base mismatches and 8-oxoguanine, and MutS${\beta}$ (comprised of hMSH2 and hMSH3), which repairs longer insertion/deletion loops. Methods: To provide further evidence of DNA damage, we analyzed synovial tissues for microsatellite instability (MSI). MSI was examined by PCR on genomic DNA of paired synovial tissue and peripheral blood cells (PBC) of RA patients using specific primer sequences for 5 key microsatellites. Results: Surprisingly, abundant MSI was observed in RA synovium compared with osteoarthritis (OA) tissue. Western blot analysis of the same tissues for the expression of MMR proteins demonstrated decreased hMSH6 and increased hMSH3 in RA synovium. To evaluate potential mechanisms of MMR regulation in arthritis, fibroblast-like synoviocytes (FLS) were isolated from synovial tissues and incubated with the nitric oxide donor S-nitroso-N-acetylpenicillamine (SNAP). Western blot analysis demonstrated constitutive expression of hMSH2, 3 and 6 in RA and OA FLS. When FLS were cultured with SNAP, the RA synovial pattern of MMR expression was reproduced (high hMSH3, low hMSH6). Conclusion: Therefore, oxidative stress can relax the DNA MMR system in RA by suppressing hMSH6. Decreased hMSH6 can subsequently interfere with repair of single base mutations, which is the type observed in RA. We propose that oxidative stress not only creates DNA adducts that are potentially mutagenic, but also suppresses the mechanisms that limit the DNA damage.
The Rome Convention System (1933, 1952, 1978) which deal the third party lability relating to damage caused by aircraft to third parties on the surface have not been so effective and successful like the Warsaw Convention System. This paper briefs the development of the Rome Convention System and the reasons of their failure which are the low level of the limit of liability and non-parties of major civil aviation states such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Germany and etc. The Diplomatic Conference hosted by ICAO at Montreal during April 20 to May 2 has successfully produced two Conventions; One is Convention on Compensation for Damage Caused by Aircraft to Third Parties (General Risk Convention), the other is Convention on Compensation for Damage to Third Parties, Resulting from Acts of Unlawful Interference involving Aircraft (Unlawful Interference Convention). The major contents and some problems of these two Conventions are reviewed in comparison with the exisiting Rome Convention System and other legal system. Particularly, the entrance into force of the Unlawful Interference Convention may take some time, at least more than 5 years, due to the realistic problems arising from the operation of International Civil Aviation Fund.
The current performance evaluation of slope anchors qualitatively determines the physical bonding between the anchor head and ground as well as cracks or breakage of the anchor head. However, such performance evaluation does not measure these primary factors quantitatively. Therefore, the time-dependent management of the anchors is almost impossible. This study is an evaluation of the 3D numerical model by SfM which combines UAS images with terrestrial LiDAR to collect numerical data on the damage factors. It also utilizes the data for the quantitative maintenance of the anchor system once it is installed on slopes. The UAS 3D model, which often shows relatively low precision in the z-coordinate for vertical objects such as slopes, is combined with terrestrial LiDAR scan data to improve the accuracy of the z-coordinate measurement. After validating the system, a field test is conducted with ten anchors installed on a slope with arbitrarily damaged heads. The damages (such as cracks, breakages, and rotational displacements) are detected and numerically evaluated through the orthogonal projection of the measurement system. The results show that the introduced system at the resolution of 8K can detect cracks less than 0.3 mm in any aperture with an error range of 0.05 mm. Also, the system can successfully detect the volume of the damaged part, showing that the maximum damage area of the anchor head was within 3% of the original design guideline. Originally, the ground adhesion to the anchor head, where the z-coordinate is highly relevant, was almost impossible to measure with the UAS 3D numerical model alone because of its blind spots. However, by applying the combined system, elevation differences between the anchor bottom and the irregular ground surface was identified so that the average value at 20 various locations was calculated for the ground adhesion. Additionally, rotation angle and displacement of the anchor head less than 1" were detected. From the observations, the validity of the 3D numerical model can obtain quantitative data on anchor damage. Such data collection can potentially create a database that could be used as a fundamental resource for quantitative anchor damage evaluation in the future.
