  • Seven fungicides were compared for the control of downy mildew on midge gourd. All treatments had significantly lower rates of disease progress curves and disease severity levels than that of the control. The highest yields were obtained from crops treated with metalaxyl + mancozeb, fosetyl-Al, and chlorothalonil. These treatments also proved to be the most economical considering the treatment costs.

  • The performances of porous bearings under different operating conditions were experimentally investigated in this study. Material groups studied are 90%Cu + 10%Sn bronze and 1%C + % balance Fe iron-based self-lubricating P/M bearings at constant (85%) density. In the experiments, the variation of the coefficient of friction and wear ratio of those two different group materials for different sliding speeds, loads, and temperatures were investigated. As a result, the variation of the friction coefficient-temperature for both constant load, and constant sliding speed, friction coefficient-average bearing pressure, PV-wear loss and temperature-wear loss curves were plotted and compared with each other for two materials, separately. The test results showed that Cu-based bearings have better friction and wear properties than Fe-based bearings.

  • This paper presents the mean streamline analysis using the empirical loss correlations for performance prediction of cross-flow fans. Comparison of overall performance predictions with test data of a cross-flow fan system with a simplified vortex wall scroll casing and with the published experimental characteristics for a cross-flow fan has been carried out to demonstrate the accuracy of the proposed method. Predicted performance curves by the present mean streamline analysis agree well with experimental data for two different cross-flow fans over the normal operating conditions. The prediction method presented herein can be used efficiently as a tool for the preliminary design and performance analysis of general-purpose cross-flow fans.

  • A semi-anechoic termination is necessary in the muffler transmission loss test rig in order to suppress the sound reflection effects in the downstream. The reflected sound can distort the measured transmission loss curves. However, there exists only general guide about how to manufacture a semi-anechoic termination. In this study, Taguchi's method was used to design a semi-anechoic termination more efficiently.

  • A high speed address recovery technique for AC plasma display Panel(PDP) is proposed. By removing the GND switching operation, the recovery speed can be increased and switching loss due to GND switch also becomes to be reduced. The proposed method is able to perform load-adaptive operation by controlling the voltage level of energy recovery capacitor, which prevents increasing inefficient power consumption caused by circuit loss during recovery operation. Thus, the technique shows the minimum address power consumption according to various displayed images, different from Prior methods operating in fixed mode regardless of images. Test results with 50" HD single-scan PDP(resolution = 1366$\times$768) show that less than 350ns of recovery time is successfully accomplished and about 54% of the maximum power consumption can be reduced, tracing minimum power consumption curves.

  • Approximations inherent in the Cohn synthesis theory, which is generally perferree as a convinient design technique for direct-couple waveguide filter, results in considerable devications from the required responses as the design bandwidth increases. In this paper, two main deviations likely to occur in practice are examined using the mode-matching technique. They are a shift in couoff frquencies and large return loss occuring near coutoff frequencyles. Using the power loss ratio, the first effect is corrected to the resulant filter structure from cohn synthesis. In order to show the validity of the intorduced approackes. Ka-band waveguide filter ahs been designed and manufactored. The experimental curve follow the expected curves after corrections fairly closly.

  • The aerodynamic design of the two-stages of centrifugal compressors in an 1.2MW industrial gas turbine is completed with the application of numerical analyses. The final shape of an intake, the axial guide vanes and a return channel is determined using several interactions between design and two-dimensional turbulent flow analysis, focused on the minimum loss of internal flows. The one-dimensional turbulent flow analysis, focused on the minimum loss of internal flows. The one-dimensional design and prediction of aerodynamic performances for the compressors are performed by two different methods; one is a method with conventional loss models, and the other a method with the two-zone model. The combination methods of the Betzier curves generate three-dimensional geometric shapes of impeller blades which are to be checked with a careful change of aerodynamic blade loadings. The impeller design is finally completed by the applications of three-dimensional compressible turbulent flow solvers, and the effect of minor change of design of the second-stage channel diffuser is also studied. All the aerodynamic design results are soon to the verified by component performance tests of prototype centrifugal compressors.

  • Reflection(R($\omega$)), transmission(T($\omega$)) and loss(L($\omega$)) characteristics of multi-layer metamaterials are investigated experimentally in free space with the incident EM waves perpendicular to the substrate plane. The sample is made of split-ring resonators(SRRs) and wires which are the typical model of metamaterials. The R($\omega$) and T($\omega$) of multi-layer metamaterials have been calculated from the measured S-parameters. In this paper, we got the impedance-matched result according to the curves of R($\omega$), meanwhile the T($\omega$) decreased with increasing number of layers. At last, we attained the result that the L($\omega$) gets to nearly 98% around 8 GHz, with R($\omega$)=T($\omega$)=0. The design presented in this paper achieves experimented loss near unity.
