  • This study aimed to present a policy direction that could preemptively respond to urban development by analyzing past trends and predicting future changes in urban logistics in South Korea. In particular, the scope of the study was centered on changes in the national and regional logistics master plans presented in a framework that acted on logistics policy. So, the study examined the policy changes related to urban logistics from the past to the present based on the national logistics master plan and identified a national policy base to respond to the expected changes in the logistics environment in the future. Moreover, by combining this base with the contents of the urban logistics master plan of Seoul, we proposed a logistics policy that should be continued or newly added to the urban logistics master plan. Policy proposals were also presented by dividing the future logistics environment changes into policy, social, and technological changes. In particular, the policies were proposed in urban planning (10 policies), transportation planning and ITS (8 policies), logistics technology and ITS (6 policies), and laws and systems (8 policies). Regarding policy continuity, 15 policies needed to be continued, and 17 policies were to be introduced later.

  • The purpose of the study was to identify the relationship of the logistics activities with the overall performance among the Korean industries, in order to suggest ways of enhancing the level of effectiveness in logistics management. On the basis of current logistics literature and research data, an analysis had been attempted to provide the study with a theoretical framework, followed by an empirical research that analyzed, among the randomly selected companies, the relations between logistics activities and management policy; logistics activities and logistics environment; logistics environment and the usage of computer software; management policy and the usage of computer software; management policy and performance; logistics environment and performance. Analyses of the data suggested that the companies that lay heavy emphasis on logistics effectiveness showed higher performance; management policies of the companies are influenced by their logistics characteristics; the more strongly is a company oriented logistically, the higher effectiveness in logistics activities it maintains; there is a significant relationship between the logistics environment a company is operated in and the company's reliance on logistically oriented information technologies; there is a close relationship between a company's logistics activities and its business outcome.

  • The purpose of this study is to contribute to the revitalization of the green logistics of Korean companies by presenting the current status and problems of Korean logistics as influenced by government policies. This paper analyzes green logistics from a legal and institutional perspective. Analysis focuses on low-carbon green growth measures and government policy, especially for CO2 reduction. It considers how policies can be enacted to promote green logistics. This study reports several findings on green logistics in Korea. First, it reports the theoretical considerations of the Republic's green logistics. Second, the study details the current status and problems of green logistics. Third, it considers ways to implement a green economy, green technology, and green transportation, while also considering arguments for avoiding these eco-friendly solutions. Fourth, it argues that revitalization measures are needed to establish an advanced logistics system for eco-friendly green logistics facilities. To achieve this revitalization, Korean logistics should be competitive in the global logistics market. This study may contribute to the expansion of the industrial cooperation of Korean logistics companies by presenting necessary review tasks for governmental green logistics policies, although the issue has long been important to Korean logistics.

  • Purpose: In Korea, win-win growth policy has been successfully implemented in supply chain and logistics management. In the policy, it is recommended to support supply chain partners with various mechanisms including financial and technical aids. This study attempts to scientifically analyze the effects of direct and indirect win-win growth policy factors on supply chain and logistics management performance through partnership factors. Research design, data and methodology: This study builds a structural equation model reflecting the relationship between the win-win growth policy, partnership and performance factors. The proposed model is verified with the PLS (Partial Least Squares regression) methodology. Data from shipper and logistics companies were collected and analyzed by the PLS model. Results: The analysis showed that both direct and indirect policy factors are meaningful to improve supply chain and logistics performance. Indirect support factors including R&D, management innovation, human resources development and educational supports have positive impacts on partnership factors. Direct support factors including financial aids and fairness also have positive impacts on the performance. Conclusions: This study is meaningful in that it suggests a turning point in which supply chain Win-win growth and partnership efforts are perceived as new value-creating mechanism rather than unilateral cost reduction for logistics industry.

  • This study examines the logistics policy and system to activate the air freight known shipper system in Korea in order to suggest how to use the system necessary to convert and expand common shippers into known shippers. Even though "The Act on Aviation Safety and Security" and "Air Freight Security Criteria for Known Shippers" were revised in 2012 and 2011 each, the purpose was to regulate procedures to control aviation safety and security and air also freight security, so it does not include any measures to activate the known shipper system. Therefore, to activate the known shipper system, this study suggests measures to use the logistics security support system of "The Fundamental Law on Logistics Policy" revised in 2012, the logistics cooperation system, and consulting support as well.

  • This paper reviews the current local logistics policy of the Incheon Metropolitan City and prioritizes policy agenda based on fuzzy AHP and IPA (Importance Performance Analysis). The analysis recommends that the city needs to keep up the current good works at the policy agenda such as early expansion of the international logistics hub and improvement of the provincial highway network. The policy agenda including the logistics parks, the transport networks and the hinterland activities are evaluated as overkilled agenda. Revitalization of the logistics database, establishment of an integrated business support center, modal shift, and public logistics support were classified as low-priority policy agenda. The policy agenda of urgent concentration includes development of new logistics business and air cargo industry.
