The Leipzig Wind Profile is generally known as a typical neutral planetary boundary layer flow. But it became clear from the present research that it was not completely neutral but weakly stable. We examined whether we could simulate the Leipzig Wind Profile by using a ($k-{\varepsilon}$) turbulence model including the equation of potential temperature. By solving analytically the Second Moment Closure Model under the assumption of local equilibrium and under the condition of a stratified flow, we expressed the turbulent diffusion coefficients (both momentum and thermal) as functions of flux Richardson number. Our ($k-{\varepsilon}$) turbulence model which included the equation of potential temperature and the turbulent diffusion coefficients varying with flux Richardson number reproduced the Leipzig Wind Profile.

A three-dimensional mesoscale atmospheric dispersion modeling system consisting of the Lagrangian particle dispersion model (LPDM) and the meteorological mesoscale model (MM5) was employed to simulate the transport and dispersion of non-reactive pollutant during the nuclear spill event occurred from Sep. 31 to Oct. 3, 1999 in Tokaimura city, Japan. For the comparative analysis of numerical experiment, two more sets of foreign mesoscale modeling system; NCEP (National Centers for Environmental Prediction) and DWD (Deutscher Wetter Dienst) were also applied to address the applicability of air pollution dispersion predictions. We noticed that the simulated results of horizontal wind direction and wind velocity from three meteorological modeling showed remarkably different spatial variations, mainly due to the different horizontal resolutions. How-ever, the dispersion process by LPDM was well characterized by meteorological wind fields, and the time-dependent dilution factors ($\chi$/Q) were found to be qualitatively simulated in accordance with each mesocale meteorogical wind field, suggesting that LPDM has the potential for the use of the real time control at optimization of the urban air pollution provided detailed meteorological wind fields. This paper mainly pertains to the mesoscale modeling approaches, but the results imply that the resolution of meteorological model and the implementation of the relevant scale of air quality model lead to better prediction capabilities in local or urban scale air pollution modeling.

The aim of this study was to determine the characteristics of wave transformation in the shallow water of the Nakdong River estuary due to variations in air pressure, air temperature, wind speed, and wind direction. We analyzed the correlation between weather factors and wind waves in offshore regions near Geoje Island and the Nakdong River estuary in April and May 2007. The weather and wind wave data were obtained from the automatic ocean observation buoy near Geoje Island operated by the Korean Meteorological Administration (KMA). For the estuary region, the wind wave information was the result of field observations, and weather data were obtained from the Busan Meteorological Station. Field observations of water waves in April and May showed that the maximum wave height decreased by about 2.2 m. M oreover, wave height decreased significantly by about 1.3 m due to the reduction in wave energy caused by the water waves propagating from Geoje buoy to the Nakdong River estuary. We conclude that offshore or wind waves coming into the Nakdong River estuary showed considerable height variation due to the prevailing weather conditions, especially wind speed and direction. In particular, headwinds tended to decrease the wave size in inverse proportion to the wind speed.
In this study, climate analysis and wind sector division were conducted for a propriety assessment to determine the location of air quality monitoring sites in the Busan metropolitan area. The results based on the meteorological data$(2000{\sim}2004)$ indicated hat air temperature is strongly correlated between 9 atmospheric monitoring sites, while wind speed and direction are not. This is because wind is strongly affected by the surrounding terrain and the obstacles such as building and tree. in the next stage, we performed cluster analysis to divide wind sector over the Busan metropolitan area. The cluster analysis showed that the Busan metropolitan area is divided into 6 wind sectors. However 1 downtown and 2 suburbs an area covering significantly broad region in Busan are not divided into independent sectors, because of the absence of atmospheric monitoring site. As such, the Busan metropolitan area is finally divided into 9 sectors.

The current status of atmospheric environmental impact assessment (EIA) has been summerized and future prospective for effective and accurate atmospheric EIA has been proposed by reviewing available papers and reports for the atmospheric EIA. The number of reports for the EIA in the EIA support system which is operated by the Korean Environmental Institute have been dramatically decreased from 282 reports in 2008 to 113 reports in 2012 during recent five years. This is partially due to simplification of the EIA procedure, the contraction of the public development and economic recession. We analyzed details of the EIA report to review how actual atmospheric EIA has preformed according to the EIA guidelines from the Korean Ministry of Environment. The 264 reports of EIA published in 2011 and 2012 had been reviewed especially focusing on the atmospheric evaluation items such as meteorology, air quality measurement and modeling, odor measurement and modeling, wind corridor in urban planning, and climate change. In overall sense, the atmospheric EIA has been performed quite well by abiding the guidelines except for local meteorological data measurement, permit standard for air quality and wind corridor. The new approaches to improve the procedure of atmospheric EIA and to reflect future of national air quality standard of $PM_{2.5}$ have been proposed. The guidelines on how to evaluate the wind corridor, to implement atmospheric EIA for $PM_{2.5}$ permit, and how to acquire local meteorological data by combining local measurement and model prediction are required for the effective and future oriented atmospheric EIA.
This study was carried out to find a way of improving the windproof capability of greenhouse foundations. Generally, greenhouses are often collapsed due to the strong winds, because they are very light weight structures. In such a critical situations, the foundations are very often subjected to uplift and vibration at the same time. This paper describes both the wind disaster of greenhouses by the typhoon FAEY and the uplift resistance of greenhouse foundations. Followings are the results obtained from this study ; Judging from the view point of year round cultural aspects, it is recommended that some measures be taken for the preventions of greenhouse film ruptures because greenhouse structural damages are found to be directly associated with the local rupture of cover film. In the case of surveyed area, movable pipe-houses or pipe-houses of 1-2W type were found to be completely destroyed when the maximum instantaneous wind velocity was over 30m/sec or so. In the case of movable pipe-houses, the uplift resistance of greenhouse was expected to increase with the increase of pipe diameter and/or the embedment pipe length. But at present situations there is a limitation in raising the uplift resistance of movable pipe-house, because pipe diameters as well as pipe lengths customarily selected by farmers are quite a much limited.

Prognostic meteorological model, MM5V3 (Mesoscale Model 5 Version 3) was used to assess the effects of the land-use modifications on spatial variations of temperature and wind fields in Busan during the selected period of summer season in 2000. We first examined sensitivity analysis for temperature between MM5V3 predictions and meteorological data observed at 4 AWS (Automatic Weather System) stations in Busan, which exhibited low structural and accurate errors (Mean Bias Error, MBE: 0.73, Root Mean Square Error, RMSE: 1.18 on maximum). The second part of this paper, MMSV3 simulations for the modification of land-use was performed with 1 km resolution in target domain, 46$\times$46 $\textrm{km}^2$ area around city of Busan. It was found that modification result from change of surface land-use in central urban area altered spatial distributions of temperature and wind. In particular, heat island core moved slightly to the seaward at 1300 LST. This results may imply that modification of surface land-use leads to change the thermal environments; in addition, it has a significant effect on local wind circulations and dispersions of air pollutants.

Since Pusan metropolitanarea where is composed complex terrain is connected to sea the sea-land breeze circulation and the mountain-valley circulation are apt to form A regional scale circulation system is formed at a region which has complex terrain because of curves of its and affect to the dispersion and advection of air pollutants. LCM Local Circulation Model which a propriety was verified described that sea breeze and valley wind at the daytime and land breeze and mountain wind at the nighttime were well devellped over the Pusan metropolital area. Next for the investigation of accuracy of simulated results an observed value at Kae-Kum and Su-Young on the pusan metropolitan area were compared with it at those points. From the comparison of the temperature and horizontal velocity between the results of LCM and an observed values they have a similar trend of a diurnal variation. For the prediction of dispersion and transportation of air pollutants the wind field should be calculated with high accuracy. A numerical simulation using LCM can provide more accuracy results around Pusan metropolitan area.
The purpose of this research is development of radar data assimilation observed at Jindo S-band radar The accurate observational data assimilation system is one of the important factors to meteorological numerical prediction of the region scale. Diagnostic analysis system LAPS(Local Analysis and Prediction System) developed by US FSL(Forecast Systems Laboratory) is adopted assimilation system of the Honam district forecasting system. The LAPS system was adjusted in calculation environment in the Honam district. And the improvement in the predictability by the application of the LAPS system was confirmed by the experiment applied to Honam district local severe rain case of generating 22 July 2003. The results are as follows: 1) Precipitation amounts of Gwangju is strong associated with the strong in lower level from analysis of aerological data. This indicated the circulation field especially, 850hPa layer, acts important role to precipitation in Homan area. 2) Wind in coastal area tends to be stronger than inland area and radar data show the strong wind in conversions zone around front. 3) Radar data assimilation make the precipitation area be extended and maximum amount of precipitation be smaller. 4) In respect to contribution rate of different height wind field on precipitation variation, radar data assimilation of upper level is smaller than that of lower level.
