This paper presents cluster based hybrid spectrum sensing system for M2M services. For each cluster, secondary nodes within the transmission radius of the primary node use hard decision method through local spectrum sensing to determine whether the primary node exists. And the other secondary nodes and the secondary nodes having poor radio channel conditions judge the existence of the primary node through the soft decision method of the values obtained by performing the cooperative spectrum sensing. In the proposed hybrid spectrum sensing system, the performance according to the number of secondary nodes is analyzed with the conventional system over Rayleigh fading channel. As the number of cooperative sensing users increased to 2, 3 and 4, the cluster error probability decreased to 0.5608, 0.5252 and 0.4001 at SNR of -10[dB] respectively. Since the proposed system uses less overhead traffic, it is found that it is more effective in terms of frequency usage than the conventional system using soft decision-soft decision and soft decision-hard decision methods.
The mapping of dark matter clustering from real to redshift spaces introduces the anisotropic property to the measured density power spectrum in redshift space, known as the Redshift Space Distortion (hereafter RSD) effect. The mapping formula is intrinsically non-linear, which is complicated by the higher order polynomials due to the indefinite cross correlations between the density and velocity fields, and the Finger-of-God (hereafter FoG) effect due to the randomness of the peculiar velocity field. Furthermore, the rigorous test of this mapping formula is contaminated by the unknown non-linearity of the density and velocity fields, including their auto- and cross-correlations, for calculating which our theoretical calculation breaks down beyond some scales. Whilst the full higher order polynomials remains unknown, the other systematics can be controlled consistently within the same order truncation in the expansion of the mapping formula, as shown in this paper. The systematic due to the unknown non-linear density and velocity fields is removed by separately measuring all terms in the expansion using simulations. The uncertainty caused by the velocity randomness is controlled by splitting the FoG term into two pieces, 1) the non-local FoG term being independent of the separation vector between two different points, and 2) the local FoG term appearing as an indefinite polynomials which is expanded in the same order as all other perturbative polynomials. Using 100 realizations of simulations, we find that the best fitted non-local FoG function is Gaussian, with only one scale-independent free parameter, and that our new mapping formulation accurately reproduces the observed power spectrum in redshift space at the smallest scales by far, up to k ~ 0.3 h/Mpc, considering the resolution of future experiments.

We carry out the numerical simulation to test a hypothesis that freak waves can be triggered by the infragravity waves of bound mode underlying the ever-present swells and its constructive interaction with swells using the Tool Box called the ihFoam that has its roots on the OpenFoam, and Bi-spectrum. Numerical simulation is implemented for the SamChcuk LNG Plant where freak waves have been reported in front of the private wharf during its construction phase due to the uncompleted northern breakwater. Infra-gravity waves of bound mode is generated using the difference wave-wave interaction between the local wind waves of 7 s and a swell of 11.4 s based on the Bi-spectrum. For the sake of comparison, numerical simulation for infra-gravity waves of free mode is also carried out. Numerical results show that stem waves along the private wharf for SamChcuk LNG Plant can be triggered by the infra-gravity waves of bound mode coming from the north, which eventually leads to freak waves when encounters the reflected waves from the south jetty.

In order to utilize the licensed channel of cognitive radio (CR) when the primary user (PU) is detected busy, a benefit-exchange access mode based on cooperative communication is proposed to allow secondary user (SU) to access the busy channel through giving assistance to PU's communication in exchange for some transmission bandwidth. A holistic joint optimization problem is formulated to maximize the total throughput of CR system through jointly optimizing the parameters of cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS), including the local sensing time, the pre-configured sensing decision threshold, the forward power of cooperative communication, and the bandwidth and transmission power allocated to SUs in benefit-exchange access mode and traditional access mode, respectively. To solve this complex problem, a combination of bi-level optimization, interior-point optimization and exhaustive optimization is proposed. Simulation results show that, compared with the tradition throughput maximizing model (TTMM), the proposed holistic joint optimization model (HJOM) can make use of the channel effectively even if PU is busy, and the total throughput of CR obtains a considerable improvement by HJOM.

This paper focuses on analyzing the effects of primary user (PU) signal arrival on the local spectrum sensing performance. The probability for signal arrival at a sample in the sensing time is uniformly distributed in the sensing time. We first analyze the main factor that causes the degradation in the detection results in the conventional energy detection (CED) under the uniformly random arrival of the PU-signal. Thus we propose an approach in order to enhance the detection performance, in which an estimator which detects the arrival of the PU signal cooperates with a composite energy detection. The mathematical analysis and numerical simulation has validated the outperformance of the proposed approach compared to the CED.

This paper present a summary of the results of statistical study of the ductility factor which is key component of response modification factor(R). To compute the ductility factor, a group of 1,860 ground motions recorded from various earthquake was considered. Based on the local site conditions at the recording station, ground motions were classified into four groups according to average shear wave velocity. Inleastic spectrum were computed for elastic perfectly plastic SDOF systems undergoing different level of inelastic deformation and period. Ductility factors were calculated by deviding elastic response spectrum by inelastic response spectrum. The influence f displacement ductility ratio, site condition, magnitude and epicentral distance on ductility factors were studied. The coefficient of variation was computed to evaluated the dispersion of ductility factors as the defined ratio of the standard deviation to the mean.

In this paper, we analyzed the frequency spectrum of the electromagnetic waves radiated by an electric discharge as a basic study to develop an on-line diagnostic technique for power equipment installed inside closed-switchboards. In order to simulate local and series arc discharges caused by an electric field concentration and poor connections, three types of electrode systems were fabricated, consisting of needle and plane electrodes and an arc generator meeting the specifications of UL 1699. The experiment was carried out in an electromagnetic anechoic chamber, and the measurement system consisted of a PD free transformer, a loop antenna with a frequency bandwidth of 150 kHz-30 MHz, an ultra log periodic antenna with a frequency bandwidth of 30 MHz-2 GHz, and an EMI test receiver with a frequency bandwidth of 3 Hz-3 GHz. According to the experimental results, the frequency spectra of the electrical discharges were widely distributed across a range of 150 kHz-400 MHz, depending on the defects, while commonly found between 150 kHz and 10 MHz. Therefore, considering the ambient noise and antenna characteristics, the best frequency bandwidth for a measurement system to monitor abnormal conditions by detecting electromagnetic waves in closedswitchboards is 150 kHz-10 MHz.

A noncoherent full-digital PN(pseudo noise) code acquisition/tracking loop has been presetned and implemented in FPGA for the CDMA band-limited direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS-SS) signals. It employs a simple decimator to control of local PN code phase to lower the hardware cost, and a second order loop to enable the more accurate tracking. The proposed acquisition/tracking loop has been designed in RTL-level VHDL, synthesized into logic gates using the design analyzer of synopsys software, implemented in an ALTERA FPGA chip, and tested. The number of logic gates used in the implemented FPGA chip is around 7000. The functionality has been verified using a PC interface circuitry and a logic analyzer.
In the screening of antiviral materials produced by actinomycetes, an isolate named B25 was fond to produce an antibiotic substance ASA, which showed a strong inhibitory activity against tobacco mosaic virus (TMV) infection. ASA was purified from culture broth of B25 by silica gel column chromatography, preparative TLC, and reversed phase HPLC. Also MS, IR, UV spectrum, and melting point of ASA were determined and analysed. ASA was white powder soluble in dimethyl sulfoxide, chloroform, and ethyl acetate, having absorption peaks at 223 and 328 nm in UV-VIS spectrum, and had a molecular weight of 548. ASA showed strong inhibitory effect on TMV infection when it was applied as a mixture of TMV to the upper surface of leaves of a local lesion host (Nicotiana tabacum c. Xanthi-nc). It also showed antimicrobial effect against yeast and some phytopathogenic fungi.
The predictions of residual strength evolution and fatigue life of full scale composite rotor blade for multipurpose helicopter were studied using a strength degradation model. Flight-by-flight load spectrum was developed on the basis of FELIX standard spectrum data. The laminated structural analysis was also performed to obtain corresponding local stress and/or strain spectra for each ply of laminate skin and glass roving spar structures around the blade root where fatigue damage was severely anticipated.
