  • The purpose of this research is to examine the importance of the physical surroundings for the restaurants in the local specialities food town and how their physical surroundings influence on the customer emotional responses and satisfaction to suggest the improvements and implications of the physical surroundings. The questionnaire for a survey was distributed to the customers who have visited the restaurants specialized in Korean beef located in the Sanoei Korean beef town, Jeongeup. The results of this research are as follows. First, except for attractiveness among the factors of physical surroundings(convenience, attractiveness, cleanliness and amusement), as cleanliness and convenience occupy high degree, customers were presented to response more emotionally. Second, except for attractiveness among convenience, attractiveness, cleanliness and amusement, as cleanliness and convenience occupy high degree, customers were presented to be more satisfied. Third, customer emotional response influences on customer satisfaction with the food town for local speciality.

  • 'Local food' is defined as food that has been cooked using local specialities or food prepared with the application of special cooking method associated with a particular locale. In Korea, much of what is considered 'traditional food' is derived from local foods. Therefore, much attention has recently been focused on the role of local foods in terms of the development of Korean traditional foods. The primary objective of this study was to characterize the perception concerns regrading Jeollabuk-do local foods held by university students in Jeollabuk-do, a province which is famous for its delicious local foods. The majority of students felt sympathy toward the succession and development of Jeollabuk-do local foods and generally appeared to feel that Jeollabuk-do local food was representative of a vital cultural heritage. Summing up answers to questions regarding the reasons for the succession and development of local food in Jeollabuk-do, it seems clear that in order to augment the popularity of Jeollabuk-do local foods, a variety of schemes should be implemented rather than any specific strategy.

A Study on the Setting Criteria and Management Area for the National Ecological Network (광역생태축 구축을 위한 기준 및 관리지역 설정 연구)

  • This study was performed to show criteria of a National Ecological Network (NEN) for South Korea and it was a part of a study of ecological network for broad areas on national land showed by Ministry of Environment of Korea. After 1970s, many european countries presented methods and criteria not on individual protected area but on networking among many habitats. The PEEN (Pan European Ecological Network) and NATURA 2000 are results of those. In South Korea, concepts and mapping metheods of ecological network was studied but those were not applied to the whole national land because the equality and local specialities were not reflected. So, in this study, we presented the criteria composed of forest, river, wildlife and coastal evaluation items in conservation ecology and showed the mapping method which can applied to the national land. After the evaluation on land area which composed of forest, river and wildlife axis. Core areas were $30,616km^2$, buffer zone were $21,870km^2$ and each accounted for 31% and 22% of the national land. Except for Taebaeck-Gangwon region, whole region's core areas were accounted for 20~30% of it and buffer zone were accounted for 20~25% of it, so these can be applied to the national land with equality and local specialities. Forest axis and river axis were clearly linear and connected, but the wildlife axis was dispersed in point form. Therefore, to apply the NEN, a detailed habitat map is important and the interconnected implementation of forest, river, wildlife, and coastal axis is required.

  • Recently, the public design plays a role in improving the residents' quality of life and activating the local economy as an axis of the regional development. However, during the development process led by the local government, the public space has been changed to a place where only the function is emphasized without considering the local history, culture, and life. Since the opinions of the regional residents are not reflected, the public place lacks public benefits and has difficulties in continuous improvement and development. Here, we studied on the participation of residents in public design. Firstly, we discussed public design that residents can participate voluntarily and actively as users, managers, and beneficiaries. Secondly, it is necessary for the residents, who are not experts in the public design, to have easily understandable and well tractable communication media which facilitate communications with a group of the design experts and the public service personnel. We explained the types and specialities of the communication media. Thirdly, it is necessary for the residents to contribute much to the local development by active participation in the sustainable and consistent public design through using the easily accessible communication media.

  • In this paper, we had tried to study advertising method of local industry in cooperation with SNS (Social Network Service). In particular, This paper analyzes the Facebook Page trying to find a way to take advantage of the local advertising. To analyse the Facebook page, I had created three Facebook pages such as at Hongik UNIV., Gangwon National UNIV., and specialities in Cuncheon cities. While I was managing the three pages, I had analyzed the results of quantities of activities, and in addition, had used NodeXL for the analysis of the network for the each page. After the analysis of the data of each page, I had found the possibility of the promotion for the successful the local advertizement associated with SNS. To verify and develop the results of my study, I had designed the " real time local advertising APP which is connected with SNS like Facebook, had created server program based on PHP, Android APP. In the future, I have found that there must be a lot of possibilities for the successful and various the local advertising methodologies by using SNS like Facebook, the operational data of the App.

  • It has become a common things that great capital were needed in the past development stage which infrastructure is primary factors, but nowadays it is changing to money saving software-oriented strategics to flourish various regional cultural festivals and events in terms of the development of tourism resource. it is because not to destroy environments, to harmonize natural resources with its surroundings and traditional events. Its purpose is to give some activities to depressed local economies and develop characteristics of local governments and its inhabitants' benefits for the special tourism products, events. and service enhancement searching for. keeping, and maintaining regional culture as unique and attractive image. As folk festivals are in full flourish, it is proper time to advertise korean's traditional and valuable food heritage and produce a food on a international commercial sale. It is strongly not also connected with globalism but proof an excellent worldwide things. To achieve this papers' purpose the followings should be solved in the near future. and so as to carries culture on food and regional specialities as valuable inheritances. It involves (1) the similarity in food taste, (2) the assistances of governmental support (3) adjusting to the taste of foreigner and visitors from other countries. (4) to participate in cooking process.

A Study on the Promotion of the Characters in the Local Governments, Japan (일본 지방자치단체 캐릭터의 프로모션 연구)

  • Since South Korean government pushed ahead with decentralization system in 1990s, each local government has developed 'local government's character' so that communication between local residents and between local government and residents could be going well for rural solidarity. Local governments have designed their sole symbolic characters, applied the characters to local specialities and tourist goods, and used the designed characters for the promotion of area. There is no difference between South Korea and Japan in the function of local government's character as above-mentioned details. However, 'Yuru-chara' characters which are designed by local governments in Japan are rising dramatically in the field of Japanese major characters. 'Yuru-chara' characters' name awareness is expanded to the entire area of Japan as well as the designed area. A remarkable difference in how to promote character rather than character design caused such a successful outcome. The local governments in Japan carried out a promotion for local residents in various, friendly, and active ways, utilized local government's character as a way to publicize the image of area, and turned the character into products to bring additional effects. In the above process, there was a remarkable difference between Japan and South Korea. The purpose of this study was to research detail data related to the characters of the local governments in Japan, to analyze the promotion of the characters, and to suggest a strategy for promoting the characters of the local governments in South Korea.

Transformation of Local Community and Local Marketplace (지방 정기시장의 변화과정과 지역사회 - 장성 황룡장을 중심으로 -)

  • This study, based on an ethnographic field-research in Hwangryong marketplace at Jangsung, explores the transformational process of local community and local marketplace from the end of the 19th century. I attempt to use methodology of oral statement and memory. In socio-economic, political and cultural sence, Hwangryong market which made the 18th century was central place of Jangsung. It was famous of cattle marketplace from the end of Lee Dynasty. The heyday of Hwangryong market is vitalized in the ruling of Japan. Japanese government collect tax and agricultural products through this marketplace. After independence of 1945, the economic function of it was weakened, but the other side political function was strengthened. The socio-economic and cultural status of this market was revitalized after the end of Korean war notwithstanding trial of moving of marketplace. But peasant migration and mechanization of agriculture from the end of 1950' had been brought about a critical moment to Hwangryong marketplace as cattle market. The opening of Honam express road at 1973 was decisively weakened socio-economic, cultural function and role of this marketplace. Consequently, Hwangryong marketplace was transformed small local market. The identity of cattle marketplace was rarely remained in recent. This inclination will not be stopped if not linking to local festival or invention of local specialities.

  • According to each developing type, we study a concept, contents and a consideration about in oriental medicine industry. The divisions of each developing speciality are followings: Urban industry type - The development of urban industry type has difficulties; The lack of technical development and social adaptation, etc. If it overcomes these difficulties, it will be activated in the oriental medicine industry. Rural industry type - The oriental medicine industry of rural type needs the model of rural oriental medicine industry which leads an activity and an independence of the rural region. Within the industrialization of the oriental medicine industry, if rural resource makes a specialized brand, it can have great effects in the future industry. Resort industry type - When The resort type is related the characters of natural circumstances, cultural industry and health management, it has many effects. If we gain the clear direction which is activated the regional specialities, the oriental medicine industry of resort type can estabilishs the high value industry. Event industry type - The event type is a festival, an exhibition, etc. Within this event, the promoter must provide visitors the specialized sights, the food things, the enjoyable things. And using traditional image, we have the regional resource is recognized good things and the nomination of open place can inform.

Dental treatments under sedation-analgesia in patients who are unable to collaborate: a prospective observational study

  • Background: Excessive fear of dental procedures leads to disruptive behavior during dental examinations and treatments. Dental examinations and treatments of these patients usually require additional techniques, such as sedation. The most commonly used techniques are inhalation of nitrous oxide, infusion of propofol with fentanyl, and premedication and infusion of midazolam. Methods: A prospective observational epidemiological study was conducted on patients who required sedoanalgesia techniques for dental exploration and procedures. The reasons for the inability of patients to cooperate (excessive fear or intellectual disability), age, sex, weight, systemic pathology, oral pathology, treatment performed, time of intervention, anesthetic technique performed, and occurrence of complications were recorded. Results: In total, 218 patients were studied. Sixty-five patients came for fear of dental treatment and 153 for presenting with a diagnosis of intellectual disability and not collaborating in the treatment with local anesthesia. The average age of all patients was 30.54±17.30 years. The most frequent oral pathologies found in patients with excessive fear were tartar (6.8%) and wisdom teeth (6.4%), followed by missing teeth (5%). In patients with disabilities, a combination of tartar and cavities appeared most frequently (41.3%), followed by cavities (15.6%). The most frequently used sedoanalgesia technique was the infusion of propofol with fentanyl in both groups of patients, followed by nitrous oxide. Conclusion: The combination of propofol and fentanyl was the most frequently used alternative in patients who were unable to collaborate because of intellectual disability or carry out longer or more complex treatments. Inhaled nitrous oxide and midazolam were the sedative techniques of choice for simpler oral treatments, such as tartrectomies, shallow obturations, and shorter interventions, or in younger patients.
